Salvaging level 70+ rares and exotics will drop 0-3 for rares and 0-5 for exotics. If you can, try to get metal gear to salvage as it can drop Orichalcum.

Nope which is why Ascended gear is really starting to tick me off. How can you add a new tier of gear and not have the same stat combinations as the last tier?
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
It’s an area that has the exact same DE as the rest of the game against an enemy that, due to the lack of lore about them, gives players no motivation to fight. Combined with the sub-orr drops, it’s no surprise that it’s boring. The JP is the only reason to go there.

people are so freakin ungrateful its not even funny this game is the most polished and a really great aaa game for what mere like 60 buck free to play forever if you find it not fun take a break go play something else then come back what makes the game so great its fit for the harcore/casual you name it. Now quit complaining about free content they give us they work their kitten off for us to enjoy and this is what they get really?! really? should be ashamed.
1. This event is anything but polished.
2. They did this to make money. Without this content, all those special chests wouldn’t have been purchased. Anet is a business. Not an entertainment charity.
3. If they really worked their kitten off for us to enjoy this, then they wasted the effort as this has been anything but enjoyable and makes me wonder if this is what I should expect from them in the future.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
And to think that I was convinced that adding in new tiers of gear would eventually divide the community. Little did I know, Anet was going to divide it long before it got to that point.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
I repeat, do a party with friends and go to the Fractal’s Dungeons and you will know the fun
And wrong. None of the Ascended gear currently has the stat selection that supports my build. If I want to do them, then I either have to kitten myself (not really the best idea on a difficulty scaling dungeon) or respec my character. Either way, I can’t play the way I want to, and thus, frustrated and not finding fun.
Edit: Really? Gemp (when spelled correctly) is censored?

Judging by how the rest of the event is going, I’m going with just not having thought it through.

You know, because that’s the explicit purpose for the gear in the first place; to gate additional content.
1) We don’t know that the Infusions will be necessary for future content beyond the Fractals dungeons.
2) The Infusions are only necessary for PvE content. If you primarily enjoy the PvE aspect of this game, then it’s awesome to be able to continue progressing your character. If you primarily enjoy PvP, this doesn’t affect you at all.
Try doing the higher level fractals without the infusion gear. It’s already created gated content.

Putting Halo into my xbox as I write. Not fun Anet.

And here, Anet had a great opportunity to expand upon the lore of Tyria, but all they did was say that the Consortium found it and the karka live there. A bit more would’ve been nice. They handled the Mad King lore very well, but this was just……..ugh.

You use a salvage kit on hides or medium armor. Some mobs, like bandits, also drop them.

trebuchet not working
Trebuchet was leading up to the island unlocking. The island has now unlocked and the battle is being brought to the karkas themselves. Join us by taking the boat by the Sanctum harbor waypoint in Lion’s Arch. There is a transporter NPC on the boat.
Would love to bring the fight to the karkas themselves……..but the stupid ancient karka won’t die. Completely ignoring the main problem being pointed out in a thread does not gain you customer loyalty.

And to think that the refer a friend trial is during this event. Way to leave a bad impression on all those people who WERE interested in buying your game.

The event description changed to the Lionguard wanting to test their new alchemical weapon against the karka. Karka got scared and didn’t show.

You also have a rare chance when opening chests to get an Exotic Mini Pet, which could be very valuable. Some of the crafting mats are also infrequent drops in the world.
My state has an education lottery for college tuition assistance. My English professor had a rather astute description of it. “Taxing the dumb to educate the desperate.” You can try to entice me with how many millions the jackpot is, but I’m smart enough to know better then to throw money into a system that takes in more than it gives out. I hope you can see how the principle applies here as well.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
The longterm problem still exists though. As the gear progression progresses, dungeons HAVE to become harder to do. Otherwise, you’ll get to a point where dungeons really are a faceroll and the progressers quit anyways. But this means that people who stuck to their 80 exotics eventually won’t have high enough stats to complete those dungeons, and thus you have gated content.

That is curious. I advertised in a giveaway thread in r/games and all my invites were gone in about 10 minutes.
Same here. I posted it to facebook and with minuets people were hitting me up.

What do you guys think will happen with the price of Halloween skins in the next days?
The prices have dropped sharply in the past few days and today its no more available to the game generate it, and probably will never more. Im thinking to spend 50 gold in skins and resell it in the next days.
Stop thinking so short term. The real value of the Halloween skins won’t happen for another 4-6 months. Buy then now, but understand that once a year event items are a long term investment. Sure that 50 gold may make you 60 in a few days, or it could make you 500 in a few months.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
First off, I understand that you need something to generate money Anet and that Black Lion Chests/ Special Event Chests are seen as the best way to do it. However, you also seem to have not learned from the Halloween disaster. The community was ablaze with people stating how worthless it was to buy keys, as the drop rates were so low, and how they would never buy keys again. Your solution: add a Special Event chest that didn’t require a key to open. Really? Yes, it’s a gamble. But it’s a gamble that many in the community are tired of losing, and that means you loosing income. There is however a simple fix to this.
First, get rid of these special event chests and go back to using the Black Lion ones. Right now, they’re useless as the event items aren’t in them.
Second, keep the RNG chance of obtaining the special items. However, add in a special event token that has a 100% drop rate and gives out like 5 at a time. These tokens can be taken to a vendor that has all of the special event items for sale priced from 1-100 or something. That way, players who spend a good deal of money on keys and don’t get any drops, can still go to the vendor and buy something for their effort and not feel like they were completely cheated out of their cash. It’ll bring back a lot of people who vowed to never buy keys again, and even entice people, like me, who didn’t buy a single key to begin with because they didn’t want to throw money into a slot machine, to start purchasing keys.

While pregnancy, death, and being on fire all have stages of progression or severity, specific trimester, brain dead vs clinically dead, and somewhat on fire vs completely engulfed in flame, I still see your point. Go and do the starting zones for all the races. You’ll gain so many levels from that, that you’ll always be a higher level then what your personal story needs. Was level 80 before reaching my level 45 quest.

I would much prefer it if they got rid of the random item part of the rng, and instead had a decent chance of getting a certain number of tokes that you could then use to purchase the special items you wanted. At least that way they’d get rid of all the griefing over not winning a lottery system.

A lot of people don’t agree with me. Must be a vocal minority.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
That’s the big question right now. Chris Whiteside stated that they are only adding in the progression because they view large content upgrades – like Lost Shores- as an expansion pack and there should be some progression. However, they’ve also stated that they want to have large content upgrades every few weeks. Next month will be the 3rd in a row with a large content patch. Those two ideas really combine to make a gear treadmill that, ultimately, will make gated content.

Pump and dumpppppppp.
A single forum post is going to affect the prices of a single item that is in abundance and high demand. People ought to stop marking every post as a “pump and dump” just because it happens once in a while.
In abundance and high demand. Will then sir the price shouldn’t be changing at all! People ought to start thinking before they post.
No longer in abundance with high demand thus the price should and has changed. Yeah. People ought to start thinking before they post.

My point is not invalidated just because they have the same stats. Legendaries are exorbitantly more work than Exotics to obtain, so of course they are more respected etc. Gear is moving forward, if you don’t want to no one is forcing you.
Actually yes, it was invalidated because you used a false analogy. Changing the definition of your initial argument doesn’t do you any good either.

1. Massive bot banning that reduced the amount of people posting on the TP
2. Drop rate was nerfed.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
This is NOT breaking their promise. If people actually use logic, its just another tier. Just like Blues, Just like Greens, Just like yellows, and just like oranges. It is NOT a gear treadmill since you dont get better gear after this. It is just like legendaries being the best. Now its ascended thats the best. It is just more variety, not a broken promise.
I really wish people would actually look up what logic is before claiming to use it.

People just can’t wait to judge and assume someone is wrong, most of the time about nothing. I don’t think even one of you understand what I am getting it, I truly think that you do though. Please don’t write anymore responses you are just muddying up my idea with petty little arguments.
Lashes out at people for assuming he is wrong. Immediately assumes they are wrong. Good job. You want to know what is wrong? Telling people that their ideas don’t matter and shouldn’t be posted at all. That Arenanet should only listen to you and not also other people. It’s extremely arrogant.

So this game is called Guild wars 2. It is about guilds, its in the name. Legendary weapons work counter productively towards a guild, the way that I see it. If you see it a different way, I’m sorry but I don’t care this post is not for you it is for the developers to read. Its a suggestion for the game, not a chance for you to insult someone else’s ideas or thoughts.
And no. The game is called Guild Wars 2 because it’s the sequel to Guild Wars which was called Guild Wars because of a STORY aspect, not a gameplay aspect. Guilds have very little worth in this game compared to other games except when it comes to legendary weapons as the first slew of players who got them only got them because their guild helped them get them which was the biggest reason to be in a guild at start.

You’re a fool if you bother to buy keys after the Halloween skin setup. The Lost Shores stuff will probably have the same type of (astronomically low) drop rate as the Halloween skins did.
Yeah, cause it’s not like Anet immediately noticed the outcry over the drop rates, and implemented a quick fix to address it. They’re clearly going to make the same mistake that they learned from already.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
Get used to it. BLC keys are Anet’s primary money makers. Every major event WILL include them in some way which is actually pretty good for people who like to make gold.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
Everything is doable at all levels. WvW does slightly favor geared 80’s over others though.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
^^^+ any new items added would screw up the TP for servers that didn’t have access to the new items yet, requires less people to set it up and run it thus saving money, glitches that prevent the access of some content would reduce the amount of time that server has access vs servers that gained access at a later time…..
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
waypoint costs do attend to not be cheap in some case. It is a tool used for Gold sinking, which does not work in GW2. Far to many Gold sellers = A lot of bots, and far to many players that buy gold. So all the gold sinking the devs added just goes to waste. I wish they did not cost anything to waypoint around, because now it makes it unfair to the handful of people that play the game who earn gold legitly, and not the illegal way.
The old saying is: " The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer." still stands even in an mmo game.
/facepalm
Without gold sinks, gold looses it’s value as everything becomes easily affordable. When that happens, people stop paying real money for gems and just buy them with gold which causes Anet to lose money and have to shut the game down. Waypoints are NOT even remotely expensive unless you’re blowing money left and right on pointless garbage. Doing one DE will usually pay for the port in gold and gear so claiming that this encourages gold sellers is just dumb.

It’s really not that hard if you have the start up cash. 100g investment into the market can easily yield a 20g profit rather quickly. Not sure about the one hour part, but it is rather quick. I’ve meet some people that actually made well over 1000g gold in one day at the start of the Halloween event.
