Same exact thing as Epphyx. It started maybe 30 min ago. I’m on an NA server. Was on demo character when I got booted the first time.
Yes This works.
Right click on your gw2 shortcut icon on the desktop.
select properties, in the target field paste the following
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 64.25.41.2
Note the addition at the end with a space after "
Good luck!
That’s one step closer.
Previously, I was getting a red message at the bottom of the screen as soon as my game attempted to run, that the rest of you are complaining about. Never hit the login screen. Now, after inserting this IP, I get the login screen. Yay!
Unfortunately, as soon as I click the button to login, I am taken to a grey colored page that says “Guild Wars 2 has encountered an error…” and it continues with the old familiar can’t connect to the log-in server message. At least I’ve seen that error before, and know it doesn’t last. Hopefully, this will be resolved by the time I get home from work tonight.

I think the current reward system is a reasonable middle ground.
If you want to talk fair… What’s not fair is by the time a currently low level player reaches the rank I am at, that player will have accrued all of the rewards this new system offers.
Perspective from a high ranking player is what would really be fair is to figure out the average amount of pips and tickets one would earn per rank over time. Multiply that value by each rank earned, and give that amount of tickets and rewards to each account. That means some of us would have everything the award system has to offer, instantly, the first day the reward system went into place. How much would low ranked players rage then?
Before anyone thinks I’m complaining, I am not (actually don’t want the insta-reward), I am simply making the point there is no way to change a reward system and not have someone feel like they lost out. Also, if you weren’t playing when there were zero pips, then maybe you don’t like this mode of game play, and that is the real issue. (Hey, I get that. There is a reason you’ll never see me in legendary armor. )
If nothing else, consider the extra pips to the high ranked players as a little bribe. When I’m happily looking at my extra pips, then I’m more willing to tolerate the massive influx of PvE invaders on my server who are otherwise reducing my pips by increasing queues and decreasing our war score. (Throwing inappropriate siege, randomly pulling tactivators, and constantly dying because of bad builds and poor strategy, refusing to join in voice chat, etc) In reality, my server pride is bruised at seeing people represent us who don’t care, and I can’t spend as much time doing something I enjoy because of the massive queues. The least you can do is let me have a few pips to make up for the annoyance.
Just ignore them. Not difficult. I mean, if you’ve put any time into playing on your server (assuming you aren’t a recent transfer), then you know who the real tags are.
Looking for a WvW player willing to flex builds? Looking for someone who follows commands stays on tag, and works with a group?
Platinum rank (very soon to by mithril) looking for a guild that runs in large coordinated groups. Very happy to run whatever builds, and will switch servers. Must run in NA Pac time zone.
Have eles, guards, necros, guards, rev… Will run your build, follow commands… I am CRAVING real coordinated WvW game-play.
I AM BORED of running solo/gank, and am very willing to switch servers on my own coin.
I reserve the right to rep one PvE guild on Monday evenings, but am happy to 100% rep in WvW any other time.

I saw it for the first time, tonight, and was horrified. I then spent two hours trying to decide if I would say anything or consider not playing the game for the next few weeks while this current fad wears off.
It may be pixels, but then why not make a mini of kittens being drowned in bag?
Please add a guild category to LFG (Y) . The great thing about LFG is it is always current.
I see people in map chat looking for a guild, all the time. Then there are the people who advertise in map chat and get harassed for spamming. Where are they supposed to go when recruiting?
Not everyone visits these forums. Plus using any forum (this one or others) there is the issue of time passing, and the information being grossly out of date
LF WvW guild that preferably runs sometime during 8pm – 10pm pacific time.
I like fighting underwater.
Yes and no.
Yes – If we can burn off our participation in the lobby, then this would be a good place to put all the vendors. (Would still want a armor repair anvils on regular maps, though.)
Q – What do you do with the people less than level 100, and why would you segregate them? I would think a lobby would be a good place for new players to meet seasoned players, find guilds, talk about builds and strategy…
Yes to new backpacks. :-)
Please, for the love of Dwayna, no new currency. We already have the coins.
No to forcing people into the lobby between maps. Some people like to try to play while waiting in a long queue. I may decide to farm nodes in PvE, or run around EoTM while I wait. Also, some people have terrible load times and this would double it. Plus, commanders (especially pugmanders) tend to lose followers when switching maps, and this would just add to the rage.
No, to the trailer (long list of reasons).
Guild commander feature – Doesn’t sound useful, and would hate to see development time wasted.
Looking for a serious WvW guild that has raids during US Pacific prime time evening hours. Looking for groups that run after East Coast goes to bed (8PM Pacific).
What you get if I become one of your minions:
1. A platinum colonel who isn’t afraid to jump into a fight, understands group commands and game functions, and is willing to die with you (although I prefer to kill the other guys).
2. A team player willing to change builds and try out new strategies
3. Your choice of staff support ele, tempest, wells reaper (currently DPS), or guard. I have all classes, but am most skilled on these for zerg play.
3. A level 400 scribe (in case you need a back-up)
My expectations:
1. Use of VOIP
2. Guild members allowed to rep a different guild while in PvE.
3. At least a couple of scheduled raids in WvW per week that go until 9 or 10 PM PST (have insomnia, and love WvW, so can go later, or start earlier, or both…)
Please send pigeon mail to Tibicia.8315. Let me know:
1. Server
2. Guild
3. VOIP and address (so we can chat before I spend money on a transfer)
You can also let me know about any additional expectations you have of guild members, and maybe take a moment to brag about how awesome your guild is. :-)
It’s been a day, and so far so good. I finally got my glittery gloves. I am so happy, no more quaggan bodies. Thank you!!!

I decided to test. I switched characters, played for awhile on 3 different maps (as well as the new map), and all was well. Switched back to the character that had previously rolled back, and played for a few minutes, and she disconnected and lost progress. It is very specific problem for one character, and she keeps getting sent back to the whorlpool hotsprings. The only thing that pops into mind with this character is she completed the new story, and my other characters haven’t (yet). Twice, the disconnect has occurred at the moment I’ve had the character speak to a karma vendor.
…or maybe it’s all random.
Same issue. Not sure if it’s relevant or a weird coincidence but rolled back to the same location and my progress at that point in time. I’m standing outside of the hotsprings on the new map.
I work on my WvW builds, and try to remain vigilant and responsive to commands when in squad. It seems only fair that I should know who I’m sharing my hard-earned WvW credit with. Most of the time when commanders provide shared credit, I believe the credit shared in a fair and worthy manner. Unfortunately, I also have become aware of some abuse.
Thank you for hearing us and making it happen. …and WvW as an added bonus. I can’t wait to complete the set! :-)
Thank you, nottsgman. Too tired on weeknights for dungeons, but definitely I’ll give it a try this weekend.
The WvW reward track shows "Caudecus’s Manor Dungeon Track as locked. The lock indicates I need to complete Caudecus’s Manor Story. I have the “Manor Magnate” achievement which includes the story mode.

Hmmm… It does seem highly suspicious that the same skill # is missing from multiple missions.
One thing I want to emphasize in this case is the inability to complete this particular achievement is not due to the missing skill. The missing skill is just the first clue something is malfunctioning. I can complete the achievement, but at the point where I should get credit, the eligibility icon disappears.
I’ve completed “Prized Possessions”, with two different characters. Then about three weeks ago (hard to remember exact times), I tried to do the “Deathless Escape” achievement, got frustrated, and decided to come back at a later time when I was feeling a bit more patient. …so… Today, I tried again, repeatedly. Sometime between the last time I did this mission and now, a bug has crept in.
The one recurring and repeatable issue is that every single time I play the mission, now, skill #1 never shows up. (This skill did appear a few weeks ago.) I spent a good hour or two, replaying the mission up to the cliff (where you are supposed to use #1 to jump up), trying to figure out how to trigger the #1 skill, and when it wasn’t happening, I decided to go ahead and proceed since one can substitute skill #3 (#3 is way easier, anyway). This seemed the most reasonable solution until I got to the spot where I was supposed to get the achievement for “Deathless Escape”, and the only thing that happened is the little gold badge telling me that I’m eligible suddenly disappeared.
The fist time I didn’t get the achievement, I couldn’t figure it out, and thought I had somehow messed up, so after that I was watching the eligibility badge like crazy, and making sure that beast didn’t so much as breath on me. Nope, it would appear after another successful run that indeed, when I don’t have a skill #1, even though the badge says I’m eligible, apparently, I’m not really.
There were some other frustrating glitches with the mission which forced me to reload several times (#2 skill sent me sideways into the chamber with the beast, #3 skill failed repeatedly to function…), but this bug is one I can’t get past.
After Wintersday is done (which is keeping me busy), I will be working hard-core to get this for my necromancer, “Eboni Crow.” She MUST have this staff!!!
It’s now working for me. Thank you for the fix!
<3
Ditto on the options reset. Problem started immediately after the first Wintersday update.
2 hours! If you’ve never been to Pink Day in LA, this is worth checking out.
Please give us something to do with the experience scrolls that come with b-day gifts besides spend them on new characters.
I have 17 characters , and yes, I do usually play all of them at least once a week, if not more often. Most were made in the first year, and I did this because I find switching builds to be a pain. I never wanted 17 more characters with all the skills but no gear. I also didn’t want 34 the next year, and 68 the next, and so on.
Normally, the scrolls tend to stack in my bank. Then, maybe two or three times a year, I get in a mood to do something mindless, I review my little stacks and decide to do a few key farms. At least I feel like there is a chance of getting something out of the scrolls. Now, I will never use these, because I just don’t feel like key farming that often.
The video was disappointing and created terrible frustration. I had no sound, and I was adjusting everything I could think of as fast as I could that I had access to given the video somewhat takes over! This happened at the end of the Silver Wastes missions, too, and I was really upset not knowing what I was missing, because I love the stories and the music in GW2. Problem is the video is not like anything else used in the game, and there is no warning. If this is something Arenanet is determined to use on a regular basis, please, please, PLEASE attach something to your expansion so some of us have an idea of what to adjust before we miss any more content.
Revenant; It was really great get to try it out. You gave us a second set of weapons to tinker with, too, which was pretty awesome. One little little negative, and that is the healing on it is a bit OP. Revenant already seemed a bit hard to damage. Not that this is a huge complaint as I do plan on playing this character class as soon as it’s available, but just have to be honest here.
Thank you for a chance to try this out!!! Super cool!
Not all gear works on all character builds, and it takes time to move gear around when all I really want to do is get in and play the game. I also have certain looks for each of my characters, so to move gear around means not only time, but my characters all look terrible. Part of the joy of the game is visual for me. Plus if I change the look on say my Silvari guardian to the cultural armor, I can no longer swap that armor to my Asura warrior.
My point isn’t that I want to do things faster than normal. My point is that I want to get the same results out of my time and effort as everyone else. Obviously, yes it should take longer to outfit multiple characters. However, in every other game I’ve played, if I have two characters it takes twice as much in game time playing, three characters takes three times my time, and four…. But, in GW2, if I have two characters, it doesn’t matter if I spend twice the time in game farming and crafting as someone with one character, I can’t reap the same benefits of that time spent. For each extra character that I have in game, I get less out of my time exponentially.
I like playing multiple characters in games, like building multiple play styles and creating a little hoard of totally different personalities. The better the art in a game, usually the more character slots I want. GW2 art is awesome, and the game play is great, so I may possibly have gone a little over-board in purchasing character slots.
When I crate multiple characters in games, i also expect to spend time developing skills for each character, indpendently. This game is no different in that, and I have no complaints when I have to acquire the same skills twice for two different characters. To me they are separate, and if I have two of them, then I should spend twice the time to get them both to a top level as opposed to someone else only leveling one character.
My issue is then with making certain aquisition of materials and items account bound.
I have never felt punished in a game for buying extra character slots, except here. Once daily completion of a crafting ascended crafting materials… Time-wise, a person with multiple character has to put exponentially more time into outfitting each character at a high gear level because of account-wide time-gating. I understand not wanting to flood the market with a craft item when the item first comes out, but by now, would it hurt to increase the amount we can make per day? Maybe make the limit by each character that has the crafting skill to pull it off, as opposed to limiting by account? I put the time into getting those characters to level 500 crafting, so why can only one use it’s skills? All of them need armor and weapons!
Laurels are also limited by account and those are also needed for high level gear. There really aren’t many opportunities to earn laurels. You log in…you get them. If someone else has one character and I have two, why don’t both my characters get laurels when they log in? I have a greater need for laurels than someone with only one character because I have more gear to build. If I’m willing to take a few minutes to log into each character each day, then why should I not be as well rewarded as the person with only one character. If you are worried about cheaters, make it one laurel per day on account, and then an extra laurel for each level 80 character that actively logs in.
Finally, to add insult to injury, there is now briefly one way to actually earn laurels in the game (again, only one per day), but…seriously…Dragon Ball? This was the last straw. I had to say something. I feel like I’m being punished.
Ditto. Got the error once, and locked up the game several times.
What’s worse is when I try to re-log with the same character that attempted EOTM (even after re-starting the game), instead of taking me to the original PvE map, the game immediately attempts to go back into EOTM again and keeps spinning. Truly, if I attempt EOTM with any character, it ends up stuck.
Good news though, I found the way out of the eternal spin cycle was to log in with a different character who had never attempted to go into EOTM, then I log of the good character and re-log with the messed up character. At that point, the game flips back and forth with back-ground screens of both EOTM and the original map, eventually landing on the original map screen, after waiting a few more long seconds, the character is finally on a PvE map.
Happy dance!!! I have always thought of the mini as an accessory. Some of my characters have a theme going and the mini is a key part of the look. It will be nice not having to primp when entering a map.
If you are like me, you may never decide on your class. I have 16 level 80 characters, at least one of each class.
I don’t know how you played your thief, or what kinds of builds you experimented with. Guild zerg builds tend to use use weapons that have slow activation (two handed weapons usually do more damage, but then are slower to activate which requires timing and some patience), so you may not enjoy using a standard zerg build, or even enjoy the usual WvW zerg classes. If I were to consider how the game play feels:
Double-dagger elementalist – Skills cause the character to jump all over the place (sort of feels like a thief to me), can move move across the map quickly when needed, and skill activation is decent. I use mine in dungeons, farming for materials in Orr, WvW, and PvE guild events. With aura activation and the right build, it can be pretty tanky and still put out the DPS. The one thing missing is range. If you must have some range (for taking out siege on towers), add the ice-bow skill (and help a guardian with range, at the same time).
Engineer – Capable of excellent running speed, some skills are decently fast, nice DPS, and of course you have range and AoE. There is even some limited invisibilty. Engineer is surprsingly versatile. You may have fun experimenting with this class.
Mesmer has some skills that also feel a bit like thief game-play. Running speed could make you nuts, though. There are skills you ckittene for speed, but then you lose elsewhere. I suspect most people use long-sword for one of the weapon sets (faster activation on this two-handed weapon than with other classes), and then the other weapon set depends on the build. Some skills provide nice WvW zerg support (I don’t love the zerg builds, though, so rarely use my mesmer for that purpose unless a commander specifically requests it).
Axe Ranger (with various off-hands for different situations) – Doesn’t really jump all over the place, but you can easily build them to be very survivable, they are capable of OK running speed, and the main axe skill bounces off of things like the thief short bow. You will either love or hate pets. I use my axe ranger a lot for gathering materials in Orr, PvE events, dungeon runs, and occasionally in WvW. Rangers have some combo skills useful to zergs, but sadly I rarely see rangers actually using them, so understand why this class gets little respect when it comes to zerg play.
Add me to the list of people begging for this armor.
I hate to ask, because the shirt was a gift from Anet (and that’s actually why it took so long to post). However, I can’t wear the shirt anymore, because it went from an awesome gift to… embarrassing. You can see from Grundle’s post, that the current color combo is not great. The shorts are boring, and the boots…the boots…OMG, those colors are terrible.
Here is my before picture for comparison.

I had actually purchased the same shorts to go with this shirt, but dyed them because that beige color is incredibly boring and doesn’t cause the logo to pop the way it should. The main dye color in my picture is “autumn”. If I had a larger palette at the time, I might have tried something dark for the back of the boots (but NOT black).
White shorts might be OK too (never tried it, and can’t say for certain without seeing it) …just please…not what we have now!
Big kudos! Love, love, love, love, love the phoenix skins. My husband is still laughing at the noises I made when discovering them. Bought one as soon as I found the vendor, and spotted those beauties. :-)
…and the tradition continues. ROFLMAO Yes! Much <3
So here it is: if you were happy but now aren’t, what changed? Was it further speculation, introspection, knowledge, what? And if you were first unhappy, but are now happy, what changed?
Thanks for reading!
I don’t think anything changes. Personally, I’m mostly happy, but somewhat mixed in my feelings. I can guess what is happening from what you see on the forums. Some people are very excited, and they post right away. Some have mixed feelings, believing there is good and bad, but by the time they post, they see all the good stuff has been written and decide not to repeat that part. Of course, some people live in a mire of unhappiness, and maybe they’ve been told they complain too much, but figure if they see someone mentioned a problem, it then it gives them permission to let loose.
I think Anet did an incredible job evoking deep emotions. I spent a couple of hours on one of my main chars, today, just wandering around L.A. I feel kind of….sad…I mean, really sad. Reading the note from the child who is missing parents… Ugh, it’s just a game! What is wrong with me?! I don’t think it’s just me feeling this way, either. I saw a lot of other people wandering around LA, and in the whole time, nobody typed a word. Two hours of complete and utter silence, and there were plenty of us on the map. LA, the center of social interaction is now completely silent. To speak would be like shouting at a funeral. I have never felt this way in a game.
I love this armor for it’s artistic quality.
Maybe some species of Tyrian wood sink? Maybe it’s been treated with something? Maybe a high mineral content and some mysterious substance in the water causes rapid petrification? Hmmm, not sure I want to be swimming in that.
Why not have “Heavy Weight”, “Middle Weight” and “Light Weight”, instead of gold, silver and bronze. Weight class being server population.
Right now I’m on a server where most people are refusing to play this week, and one of the servers we’re pitted against is also refusing to play. That’s because if either server wins, it could pop us up into the next league. Both sides view it as punishment for winning.
Yesterday, we discovered inexplicably that our server was winning. Low and behold we have a bunch of new people on our server out there playing. Wanna guess where this influx of new players came from?
If leagues were by weight class, I’d be playing right now.
Small server. We rallied and planned on a big organized kill, only I ended up in over-flow. People all fighting with each other rather than organizing. Bunch of guest players took my place on my own server (PLEASE make guesting secondary in events, allowing server players first access), because they were trying to show our sad little server how it all works, which means I never had a chance to fight with my friends. I loved dragon fights. Now I hate them. Never again. I’m done. Feeling depressed. Not sure I’ll login for a few days. We’ll see…
LOL, Cheshirefox. Me, too.
I’m pretty sure the only people who love this current situation are on over-populated servers where marginal players have figured out they can get easy daily points by joining a zerg and camping where the PVE players are forced to go. Boring but easy kills.
Message to Zergers bragging in over-flow: Do you guys not even realize what you’re bragging about? You were in a mob of 20-50 people that just mugged a lone PVE player! FYI – This is about as impressive as killing an ambient.
Sadly, with the new match-ups on servers people on the lowest-population servers may not ever manage to meet the deadline to get this acheivement. The only option may be to join a high-population server and abandon friends.
Don’t forget the pistol skill – “Mayo Shot”. Targets ground, affecting area. The enemy is blinded, and there is a slippery effect (slowness and random chance to fall).
You know a good player from a bad player when you watch and listen to them for a few minutes. Good friendly attitudes seem to go hand in hand with actual skill. In town, a knowledgeable and skilled player is there taking a break and managing inventory (and dealing with the inevitable bio break), and while he/she is at it is usually willing to share information with anyone who asks and maybe take time to hang with other people. Bad players on the other hand have terrible attitudes, and will verbally harass other players for asking questions, for looking too “gay” or being female, or any other crazy reason (reason is always something too stupid to have any relevance in real life or game). Bad players also brag about their own skills which if you ever catch them actually playing you will quickly realize the greatest skill they have is in their own ability to imagine they’re any good.
There are a ton of other games that allow you to level with your Cr Card. I have sampled games that do that, and what I found is it seems to draw in a certain type of player (I use the term loosely, here). Obnoxious, verbally abusive, and over-all unfriendly group. Chat is full of whining about the GM did or didn’t do this or that. Many seemed to think they had paid enough for the GMs to be their personal servants, even to the point of kicking low level players (you know, the ones actually leveling) just because they didn’t want noobs on their server (noob=people who don’t have money irl).
Please, I don’t want those spoiled brats drawn to this game.

LOL, the gateway drug to GW2. You should distribute it free, as an app. :-)
Is this still a bug? Yes!
However, Just FYI for others having the same problem. If you don’t mind losing all of your settings… Go to your documents folder, and select the “Guild Wars 2” folder. Delete the roughly 50 mb file in there titled “Local. dat” (or if you are nervous about deleting a file, as I was, then move copy it somewhere else before deleting). Removing this file will delete all of your login information including your password. I read somewhere that it deletes preferences, but didn’t notice anything other than sound settings weren’t what I thought I had them at (key bindings, and important stuff is still there).
