Reading between the lines:

I am a very skilled player. But other players seem to do better. That is not because they are more skilled, they are really noobs. It is because the game demands not the real deal skillset (aka mine), but skills those noobs have. Please change the game so I am king with my personal skillset. I am unable to acquire any other.

Nailed it. I’m so glad we have an on board translator. GL out there OP. Pro tip: games with more than 2 buttons may suffer from the same problems you had with gw2. Seriously consider a professional gaming career in spider solitaire easy mode. I’d watch your stream.

Guild tax idea

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Triangulator.2867

Triangulator.2867

Wouldn’t work, with multiple guilds allowed like in GW2.

If you would make it so you’d have to pay tax for every guild you belong to, it would effectively trash the entire multi-guild system.

If on the other hand you’d only pay tax for the guild you’re representing everyone would join a “tax evasion” guild (perhaps made by themselves) and represent that everytime they thought they’re not feeling like paying the tax.

Any member that makes or creates a tax evasion guild to literally avoid helping out and growing their main guild is not a member worth having in a guild to begin with. Guild Taxing would be a welcome addition to guild growth potential. However, I don’t think it’s a crucial and necessary addition anytime soon.

The OP want to include TP sales. In this scenario it would be hard to avoid.

My main income is from the TP. I have two personal storage guilds for mats and items. So I have to constantly swap between these guilds to access mats, craft, buy, sell etc.

When does the guild tax happens?
When I sale something?
When I took the gold from the TP?

It would become a nightmare to manage that the correct guild (my main guild and not one of my storage guilds) gets the taxes. :-(

Any tax outside of gold from monster drop, dungeon/fractal/raid reward is grossly unecessary and unfair. Why that would be a suggestable “addition” to the game is beyond me. Personal profits from bltc is already taxed, and thus does not need to be any further.

Taxing is not necessary right now. A well organized guild is able to achieve most in game goals and upgrades through effective communication and leadership. Mass inviting newbies in Queensdale all day, every day, and letting them build up your guilds bank unknowingly, is not going to solve the problem of guild hall costs and achieveability by the poorly lead/organized.

Why did they make Maguma so hard?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Triangulator.2867

Triangulator.2867

I think they need to include more events that are not as challenging for those who can’t afford the huge elite gear and to walk trough maguma like gods, and to also reduce the boss scale slightly so there not so dam hard.

Go back to core tyria, gear up appropriately. Come back.

Just because you don’t have something, or are unwilling to work toward it is no justification for nerfing content that is meant to provide a challenge.

I’m hardly nerfing it you really think ArenaNet are going to change anything in the game for what I say I’m just speaking my mind like most also I’ve worked for everything I have and for the characters I have never used tomes boosts nothing all hard grind 100% its hard work in maguma granted but would be more enjoyable for more rewards better xp faster masteries.

Also when you say gear properly I’m presuming your running full zerk gear ascended weapons with all masteries fully completed or at least a mastery rank of above 50 have all your elite spec compleated and spend tons of gold on items which would make you think Maguma is not challenging and easy for you.

I will go back to core Tyria and continue doing as i was doing HOT can sit as it is

Please start map completing in wvw.

I maintain the position with the OP. The current cries of guild hall costs being too high are spouted by individuals incapable of organization, teamwork and dedication. Reducing the wall of entry to pander to these players would be an insult to better organized guilds both large and small, and sets a negative precedent that unaccomplishment can be rewarded through consistent complaining.

As for the grandfathering of guilds and the gutting of content to offer an illusion more content shipped with the xpac. Yes. I believe this conversation should be and stay opened . This is a relevant issue that needs to be addressed for future content releases. I can allow myself to believe that the decisions made to gut vanilla content and replacing it with new iterations (ex. Guild halls) was to create a healthier backbone for future gw2 releases post-HOT.

I don’t want to see the current iteration of guild halls and upgrades changed to pander to those unable to access or accomplish the tasks necessary, but rather see complaints directed at the decisions Anet made to gut vanilla content and replace it with shallow mat/gold find. Future content releases should not follow the precedent set by HoT.

Triangulator.2867

Snow.2048 made an amazing post above. The core issue here isn’t the cost or the challenge with halls. It’s the gutting of content by Anet to offer the idea that more was shipped with the xpac than actually was.

Small guilds are feeling this pull especially since they now have to work doubly as hard to earn what was removed and then some. We should be focusing on these types of ‘content releases’ by Anet being a reoccurrence in the future, than complaining about the accessibility of things as they are now.

Removing content and replacing it with a mat or gold sink does not enrich any of our in game experiences, either for vet or new players.

OP is absolutely right. If you lack teamwork, organization and the skill necessary to take your hall, examine yourself. You are begging for a handout to achieve the reward people better organized, with higher priorities on teamwork and with more dedicated goal focused members have earned.

If you find yourself begging and pleading for a change to a system that rewards small guilds for hard work, realize you are not in a capable guild. Work with your small guild to achieve your goals. If you are consistently failing, making it easier for you now will only be hurting your development as a guild and as a gamer.

Will you be asking for everything along our path in GW2 be made easier and more attainable because you can’t do it? Or does this pandering end here by letting the unaccomplished gain access to a useless unupgraded hall?

Way to go .. you completely missed the point by a country mile.

It has nothing to do with organisation and teamwork.. if a 2 man guild like the OP’s lacked that then yeah.. that would be bad news for the guild.
It’s about retaining the effort but ensuring that effort/cost is spread equally throughout the guild spectrum… getting a guild hall is nothing more than a pug LFG… upgrading it is something quite different… 500 players collecting for example sand and seeds is nothing in comparison to what small guilds have to go through because someone didn’t bother to look into the mechanics of it all very well, in fact I would say it’s actually a pretty lazy content implementation with no thought other than “we now have guild halls”

It is the opposite. My point is on the money. Organizing a 500 man guild to be motivated to donate towards the hall at a pace fast enough and in quantities large enough to have guild unlocks as the aetherium becomes available is a tremendous effort. One in which you underestimate. Large guilds that can accomplish this have fantastic leaders and organization.

Small guilds, such as mine and OP’S, are able to keep up with similar organization and dedication. Failing to accomplish your goals is not the contents fault. But your own shortcomings. This is my problem. People unable to accomplish guild goals due to poor organization or lack of dedication crying foul.

Guild hall and its upgrades are designed for guilds large and small with both capable members and leaders. If you are struggling it is a sign that your guild is not healthy.

The upgrades and cost of the expedition is fine. You lack strong leadership, team work and the skill necessary to take back your hall. If you like your guild of 2, work on your builds, level up your masteries and come up with a plan that will see you through to success.

If you cannot claim your guild hall. You won’t be able to see through any upgrades. The system is fine as it is. Work harder for what you want or give up, asking for freebies is unbecoming.

Its been 3-4 days and i still can’t find any enjoyment in GW2. Dont look at me as if Im geek or nerd with his favourite character embroided on his pillow. Their usefulness before and after the event of salvaging them is irrelevant. The point is that the rewards for salvaging highest quality gear in game is below the average salvaging yield of rare (yellow) items.

This lacklusterness is a hard gate for new players attempting to break into ascended Salvaging end game, because the cost to create versus the salvageable yield is not worth that new players’ time and gold. Same could be said for vets who have the stuff. Salvaging your old ascended gear is exponentially below the effort and money you put into crafting them.

Top tier gear should be salvaged into top tier salvageable rewards. It shouldn’t be a blowout every time with vets bleeding the best, most rarest crafting supplies, but it also shouldn’t be less valuable than salvaging rares.

Salvaging ascended should feel like it was worth it. Getting 10-25silver back is not worth it.

Because numbers. Heroes test these things for us to get the numbers, so we don’t have to do it ourselves. Then when we want to do it ourselves, we just look at those who came before us and realize it’s not worth it. And then we thank and praise the Heroes who valiantly sacrificed their time and wealth for the greater good.

Agreed. Anything that is relevant to the method used for crafting the piece to begin with. I do not recall ever using +1 ARS at any point in time.

Ascended Salvaging should be a reward. You just broke down hard to craft and earn gear. You shouldn’t get the ultra rare collection stuff with every salvage, but you shouldn’t get a pile of junk either.

As is, I get more value from salvaging rare item and weapons than salvaging ascended. This is pure and utter bullkitten. As I have said, it sickens me to think they thought this system was ready to go live.

Yeah Malekittentus, I read your post, and my sympathies.

No I did not think anything yielded was going to be 100%. The system right now is complete bullkitten that should have never gone live. Salvaging ascended should yield a guarantee of either account bound crafting materials or relevant crafting materials used in the item. In this current form, the game is an insult to both new players wanting to access new recipes with salvaged ascended materials, as well as old players with disposable ascended gear yielding absolute trash.

Respect the players’ time. RNG is great for a rarer account bound crafting good. But receiving 5 +1 AR is such a bullkitten result it hurts me to think of the high fives that went around the office after launch of this system.

I just salvaged two ascended backpacks. Both of them yielded nothing but 5 +1 Agony Resistance.

This is grossly insulting. I wasted my time and money on those backpacks. Obviously they were of no more use for me, since I opted to salvage them. However, had I known that I would use a 1g salvaging cost to salvage items 100g+ in worth, to receive nothing more than non-account bound items of a total value of 25s, I would have quickly opted out of salvaging them.

I do not think that Ascended Backpack salvaging is worth your time. I would very much like to have my backpacks back. I do not think ascended salvaging should have an RNG yield of unique account bound crafting materials, but instead, have a guarantee of certain account bound crafting mats, with RNG only for the more rare ingredients.

Want on-heal effects and dont want to heal?

Triangulator.2867

Well, if you have any on-heal sigils, effects or traits (Defender Runes, Mender’s Purity, Balthazar Runes etc.) you may find this neat little trick worth your time. Akin to the old costume brawl movement skill abuse from back in the day, this trick won’t save your life, but it could provide you with some clutch +procs.

Step 1.) Grab on-heal effect/trait/rune
Step 2.) Grab transform potion (use quaggan transform for extra style and points — avoid stationary transforms like trees and furniture).
Step 3.) Use transform and press your heal to transform out real quick. On heal effect, granted.

Obviously this is going out of your way to get a little in return. But, sharing is caring. My personal favourite is Defender Rune, especially if you play a class with no access to block. So you can proc your aegis without having to burn your heal. It’s also a good heal when cruising around 80%hp.

Good luck out there, heroes.

I would like the name forge, especially BECAUSE it is n inanimate object. I’m an engineer with mecha legs, I want to get recognize as a unhuman killing machine.

Even if you wanted a title that depicts your imaginary conceptualization of the engineer in gw2, ‘Forge’ is far from the appropriate describer. Unless of course if you are a stationairy location in which meral is wrought. You could employ other, more accurate, titles to describe your ‘inhuman mecha engi’.

It’s simple infallible logic. A 7ft tall wookie living on a planet with 3foot tall ewoks does not make any sense. Forge as a title to describe a person’s specialization does not make any sense.

If I were to say I learned anything from creating the footage of this video, I would say that to truly be a successful roamer, and claim my abilities as a solo player are beyond compare, I think I need to tip the odds 3:1 against my enemies. I have been playing since release, and I have over 4,600 hours played over the past 981 days, as of this writing. 2976 of those are on my engineer. I am r80 in spvp, have the Champion Genius title, have a full set of Celestial, Clerics (cuz bombs), Apothecary (#bombs), Berserker and Soldier ascended armour and trinkets. Yes, all of those are medium. Yes, my zerker gear is infused with full Versatile Mighty infusions (obviously non-versatile wherein applicable). No, I do not have a thief or ranger.

You could argue, I love my engineer. And this sub-forum could argue that I have a very good reason to.

I have yet to find any use for metabattle.com, as I do not believe that anything that website produces could in any way, shape or form, provide me with a better idea as to how to play my engineer in high end fractals (cuz I am a nerd), PvE, PvP or in my favourite gametype, WvW.

On that latter note, I only roam. Solo or in a small group of 5 with my guildies. What am I trying to accomplish by telling you, humble reader, all of this? Well, for one, I am hoping to meet some fellow engineer enthusiasts. And, for two, I am hoping to share some of my experiences that I record with all of you to scrutinize and enjoy at your leisure.

Without further ado, I present to you, one of my many roaming videos. This is my most recent, and has the most grammatical errors, cuz we do math, not letters. I do try to get 3-4 videos out a month every Friday. Let me know if there is a build or engineer style you want me to play as, I 100% have the gear to play any engineer build you can think of.

I hope you enjoy my footage, I let my friend do the editing, and he is quite the amateur, but thank Balthazar he exists. #timesaver

Reach me in game or on the forums! Bomb on, Engineers. Bomb on.

[Video] Outgunned in a Borderland

Our intrepid hero finds himself in some outnumbered situations while roaming a borderland.

Rangers. What can I say about rangers? Well, there are a lot of them roaming. I give mad props to the 1% of rangers out there that rep their class with skill and an intensity not many others can match. Having to wade through the prejudice and discrimination of what the other 99% of rangers have created for the class is tough work, but each and every time I come across one of those 1%’ers, I normally end up leaving my PC in a rage quit.

Alas, this video has none of those 1%’ers, as they are a very rare breed indeed.

Thank you for watching, and I hope one day I can see each and every one of you out there on the battlefield!

Also, a shoutout to this video’s sponsor: Nuttin Rebar! Got nuts? Need Rebar? NUTTIN REBAR!

Follow through with Franklin’s advice, scroll down your character list. If not, check bottom right for a Create [BETA] option, should be right beside Create.

If nothing else works, I can understand where you are coming from. Perhaps flag a ticket down for some help?

What gives? I have no e-mail (in any folder) concerning how I can access the Closed Beta tonight. I have the Heart of Maguuma key that drops.

Any thoughts? Has this happened in the other closed beta? Or was the key just a hoax and they really only had X amount of slots to fill, f-it to all the others.
