My computer usually crashes after playing about 5-10 minutes. I restart, restart GW2, etc; normally the computer doesn’t crash anymore now, but if it does, it’s after 5-10 min again.
Here’s the log:

peach pies.. cause I’m poor… […] I also have grown quite fond of Wall of Reflection.
Why not go for the lifesteal on critical / precision food? You’ll land a critital more often creating a better synergy with your other proc’s on crit.
Blackberry pie shoul be as cheap as peach pie.
Wall of Reflection is brilliant, imo. Especially if traited.
Cheerio!

Since you’re running a shout build you might want to try Runes of the Soldier, they remove a condition on using a a shout.
And add a few points to Vitality/Toughness.
I concur with CptAurellian, I use Knight’s armor and Berserker’s trinkets/weapons on my guardian.
However, if you aren’t using the grandmaster traits in Honor, you can just as well take the 10 points out (the loss in vitality will not have too much of an effect) and put them into Radiance instead for a blind on Virtue of Justice and either trait II (Signet Mastery) or V (Searing Flames) for 20% faster recharge on signets or boon removal when you apply burning to a foe.
With the extra precision from Knight’s (and maybe the 10 points in Radiance) you’ll also get vigor more often on top of more healing from empowering might. The more endurance regen you get, the tougher you’ll be.
Hope that helps!
Cheers.
e: If you need exotic knight’s armor, you might want to try Sorrow’s Embrace, paths1&3, they’re not too hard.

My approach is similar to the posters’ above:
Armor: With Knight’s / Zerker’s you’re pretty much set, imo.
Runes: Runes of the Soldier for extra Vitality, Toughness, Condition Removal on shout
Weapon stats same as armor: Zerker’s.
Weapons: Greatsword, Staff, Scepter, Focus, Shield.
Sigil: Sigil of Blood if you have a high enough chance to land a critical hit, Sigil of Stamina or Sigil of Restoration for endurance gain on kill or heal on kill.
Endurance and endurance gain: Honor’s Adept Minor Trait grants vigor on critical hits every 5 seconds. With Knight’s/Zerker’s you should be under vigor almost constantly. Helps a lot.
Traits: I would recommend you putting 10 points from Honor into Radiance, since you aren’t using the Grandmaster Traits anyway. You can get trait II in Radiance (Signets recharge 20% faster) which goes well with Signet of Resolve. Also you get a free blind for Virtue of Justice which on top of Greatsword Sk#3 can keep you alive in melee encounters.
I don’t know anything about Guardians with Hammers, though, but this works well with Greatsword and the weapons mentioned above.
Cheers.
I’d take any class into fractals (haven’t done 40+, though). All classes have strengths and weaknesses and if you have people who know theirs, np.
Our usual group consists of Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist, Mesmer, but as I said, I won’t hesitate taking any other classes. As long as I’m not running a full group of condition Necromancers. :p
Well, RNG is RNG, and if you got any of the rares/exotics/cores from the chests, then let me tell you, mf doesn’t affect chests, at all.
Cheers.
It totally depends on what you’re after, imo.
I run magic find gear in lower level fractals (up to 20 ish) and usually in the Solid Ocean Fractal (still very easy on higher levels). Dredge Fractal has very nice loot, as well as the possible vials of powerful blood in the Asuran Fractal.
In other dungeons I usually don’t bother anymore. It is not worth killing most of the mobs whether you’re wearing mf gear or not, the drops are just horrible. I prefer killing stuff I can’t skip as fast as possible and mf gear is detrimental in that regard.
I would consider buying an increased gold drop infusion, if you’ve got laurels to spare, for dungeons.
Cheers.
edit: also, using increased mf/goldfind food doesn’t hurt in any regard. Most of the time.

It would not be that much more forceful than the system currently installed. Especially when it would be coupled with account wide story modes. I’d wager many poeple have done story on one of their characters.
Also, the average story takes 30 mins to do. Give an hour and that still wouldn’t be too bad either.
Cheers.
No. Ascended gear + Fractal unique skins vs guanteed bad drops in dungeons too, just alot more silver.
No one makes you farm fotm for gold. It would be OP if they dropped silver. EVERYTHING, Skins, money, exotics, ascended gear, lets throw precursors chance upped too while were at this wish list for all your farm needs in 1
Harder content should reward better rewards. The risk vs reward for FotM at high levels is impossibly bad, and needs to be improved no matter how you cut it. I agree that low levels shouldn’t get the boost, but as you go up tiers, the rewards really should improve significantly from what they are.
I agree with Rising Dusk. I wouldn’t even exclude the lower levels from better rewards, as lower fotm requires the same level of skill as normal dungeons do.
Ascended gear doesn’t really factor in the equation, as you can get all ascended gear without setting a single foot in fractals . In fact, you can’t even get more than 3 pieces of ascended gear doing fractals.
Cheers.
[…] or for fractals that he has the level for it (let’s imagine he is the highest fractal level in the party).
Now, if we use your system, this would allow anyone to open the dungeon, disconnect and reroll, which is defeats the whole purpose of having a story mode. Same for opening higher level fractals, though I lack a bit of context here, as I don’t know if the highest level can leave the group if he wasn’t the one who opened.[…]
ATM, anyone in the group can open fractals with the highest level anyone in the group has achieved.
In regards to dungeons: make the story mode account wide and make story mode a requirement for all party members. Problem solved.
Cheers.
I often do path 1 twice on any char and then switch to an alt to rinse and repeat. Haven’t hid DR on alt that way and it doesn’t take so much longer, anyway.
2 of us were 1st timers to fotm & it was fun, but I’m still not sure why ppl run it. I imagine it would get pretty boring after 2 or 3 times in each zone. Is the ascended gear that much better than regular exotics say…? And infusions to avoid agony later seems like just a hamster wheel if it’s not useful anywhere else. What am I missing?
For (so)me, FotM is fun because it’s challenging. I like it when the content I’m playing increases in difficulty. At least there’s some sort of progression.
You don’t even need to run FotM, at all, to get ascended gear. Just do your dailies and guild missions and get the stuff from those vendors.
Cheers.
Arah is the funnest and hardest dungeon in the game. It should have some lodestone drop… or a random precursor after every 100 completions
Lupicus should throw lodestones at people in phase 3 and if you successfully down him you get to keep them.
Easy lodestones then. :p
As far as I know, there is no DR on Dungeon Chests. Completion reward, yes. Dungeon chests, no. No chests should be affected by DR, at all.
Cheers.
Thank you for testing this. For your runs where you didn’t get any shards, did you clear the courtyard and defend the shaman event?
Yep, I didn’t leave any run until the final boss spawned. On my last run (no shard for that one either, btw) I actually had the shaman die and the event restarted with new mobs that were dropping loot. I tried to fail that event as much as possible to see if its farmable, but its pretty hard to just make 1 guy die. The new spawns were dropping loot however. (I got a bunch more blues and a green)
As I said earlier: RNG is RNG.
Cheers.
[…] I agree it is sad that we have to rely on our friends and guilds to get a decent party, but I just don’t see what there is to be done about it. Horrible players (in terms of attitude) will always exist. […]
Well, it is an MMORPG after all. And having a guild is one of the best aspects, gamewise and friendwise.
I do understand that people get frustrated when attempting to do dungeons and not being allowed in a group because of arbitrary level restrictions.
I do not understand, however, why you don’t just find a guild that caters to your needs. Especially since you can be in multiple guilds in GW2.
Cheers.
[…] We’ll see. I don’t think that getting an essence on five out of five runs is coincidence […]
It most certainly is.
Cheers.
You do understand that his name [Nokk] is a reference to what he actually does? I think this is quite funny. He’s one of the GW2 bosses that you can’t just kill mindlessly, at the beginning, at least.
Also, with some non-random positioning you should be able kill without getting nokked off.
Cheers.
Ps. We quite often do SE and seldomly get nokked of. If someone DOES get nokked off we just crack a joke or two. Fun for the whole group!
I really hope they fix this in the next major patch This has been a known issue since release. They’ve had over 6 months to fix this issue, so it’s pretty safe to assume the fix for it should finally be appearing within the next month or so.
Really? It’s probably one of those “get to it immediately problems” like right click targetting.
To the poster: I usually take a screenshot when running with pugs and if something happened I’d report them. It never happened to me though.
Cheerio.
Quite honestly I don’t know. I think maybe just maybe if every guardian use save yourself, you can maintain fury stack. For might stack I think it is a bit tough to maintain 25 stack, and you also need to maintain 25 stack of vulnerability.
I think the boons you get from Save Yourself apply to the shouter only. If all Guardians were Charr they could probably manage to keep Fury up with the racial skill Battle Roar.
Keeping up the 25 stacks of might shouldn’t be too much of a problem with the Might on Critical Hits trait and all four Guardians using the staff secondary. That way Empower could be chained.
Cheers.
I don’t think this is the way it works. Rng being Rng and what not. In Fractals that have many mobs that drop loot (not Swamp, with no loot whatsoever) you’ll just be more likely to hit the 0.5% (or whatever) chance to get a specific drop. Statistics and what not.
If you want to test your theory in earnest do Dredge Fractal on lvls 10, 20 and 30 with increasing mob numbers at Rabsovich and write down your drop statistics.
I really don’t think it works that way though, since I’ve had Dredge Fractal run with tons of loot and not a single [mists essence] drop.
e: Humans are pattern seeking animals that will find patterns where none exist. I think this is an example of said trait. RNG is RNG.
Cheers.
That is of course assuming no new players ever join the game, which is very unlikely.
I was just exaggerating. Since players will want to level up more characters, as well, we’d probably not be back at the exact same place, but close really.
More or less, but completely removing the need to do it from a huge amount of the characters wouldn’t really make it any easier.
What they should do is to remove the ability to bypass the restriction by requiring everyone’s character to have completed Story Mode.
I can see how that would give incentive to do the story mode for a very short period, only. People would run story modes on all their chars and after two weeks the old status quo would set back in.
And removing the need to do it more than once per account would make it next to impossible to get a group for Storymode, since people would in most cases never do it after doing it on one character.
It seems it is already that way now, anyway.
(edited by Unflinching.8967)
I don’t necessarily agree on the number but would like something similar being implented. Also please give us a Fractals Title to display.
Let me guess, you want this because all you care about is running exploration mode to farm.
Do you have any idea how hard it is currently to find a group to do story mode? Even the farmers who don’t have Story Mode done stubbornly refuse to do it, and always rely on someone else in the group so that they can enter Exploration.
My motivations are not solely based on being able to farm the explorables. I really don’t like any of the story in this game and find doing story dungeons really boring.
And yes, I do have an idea how hard it is to complete the story mode with any character. Changing the character bound to account bound would remove the need to run stories again and again, though. (With the exception of people who want to run story modes.)
I play a Charr thief. Why is it whenever any party I’m in I’m always the one kiting the Mossman? He’s after me 99% of the time. The other 1% is when I’m dead. He’s an easy boss simply because no one else has to worry about aggro except me.
Are bosses designed so that they hate certain classes and/or races over others?
Also, is Open Grave and Fancy Footwork achievements bugged? I’ve done these so many times and have not received them.
Are you playing a female character?
Our group has come to the understanding that Mossman is a lonely man, who’s lived all his life in the woods and just needs some intimacy.
On a more serious note, I couldn’t tell what’s going on. I somehow think you’re just unlucky as in our group most people get his aggro. (Female models DO get aggro more often, though, but I think it’s down to them being DPS or whatever.)
Cheeres mate
I’ve only done a superficial forum search, so this might have been asked before.
Is there any chance that Dungeon Story completion could become account bound?
I have a few characters now and completing the stories on all of them just seems a bit… tedious. Especially since there’s no ingame tracker of one’s accomplishments on a per character basis.
Cheers.
e: sorry for posting in the wrong subforum and thanks for moving it.

On a different note: How do so many people end up salvaging their high end items?
Anectodal:
Our guild often runs dungeons and when we can’t find a fifth guildie to join, we’ll find people on gw2lfg or in Los Angeles Lion’s Arch. We’ve had many nice, friendly and capable players joining us for such runs. Never had any issues.
On the other hand I’ve run dungeons with people in the same guild (3/5 or 4/5) and haven’t had any issues either! Most of those runs have been very enjoyable as I’ve met nice, friendly and capable players. Never had any issues.
Advice:
I’m sure there’s nasty people around as I’ve read many complaints about getting kicked before endbosses in dungeons. Make sure to take a screenshot before you start a dungeon when you run with people you don’t know. You can always report bad behaviour.
To Anet: I hope we’ll see a change for the /partychat soon. I think it’s unnecessary that you’d lose it when leaving a party (or when getting kicked).
Cheers.
I have an anectode and an opinion to add to this discussion.
Anectode:
I got my first fractal weapon (scepter, hurray!) on my very first lvl 20 run. Boy, was I happy. The second fractal weapon I got from a 30+. I’d say about 4 weeks and therefore about 30 ish runs later. Doing all these runs I’ve seen 5-10 ish weapons drop. I’ve always felt happy for people on my runs getting a Fractal Skin, even more so, when it was a skin they actually wanted.
My opinion:
I do not like the Fractal Weapon Skin acquisition design. For every dungeon you have a few sets of armor, runes and potions available for dungeon tokens. The Dungeon sets don’t drop from mobs or chests but are acquired through a reward system based on how many times you’ve done that specific dungeon.. There’s absolutely no RNG involved in getting the desired stats/whatever for your characters. On the other hand, you only get Fractal Skins for being lucky and you get that chance once a day per tier. That doesn’t factor in getting a skin you don’t want or have already.
I see how they seem not to be considered Dungeon Rewards but more of an “extra bonus” for doing Fractals. In that regard the RNG makes sense.
As the state is now, there’s no way to work towards a Fractal Skin and that leaves me without the feeling of achievement or anything. I would very much like to see a sytem that offers the players a chance to get a desired skin through their own means, rather than RNG. If ArenaNet wants to keep the design as it is, they should replace any skins dropped from the extra chest with a ticket, which players could use to get the skin they want. If ArenaNet wants to make a lot of players happier they should make the skins available in exchance for a token, that people can only get in Fractals. Maybe the Pristine Relics or (another) new token.
I would tend towards the latter suggestion, since so many people haven’t had any luck with RNG so far and have never got a fractal weapon or maybe only one or two after I don’t know how many runs.
tl:dr, design a system that rewards people with less RNG and give them a chance to feel like the accomplished something.
Cheers!
I would actually like to see a change to the acquisition of amulets and accessories. It would be nice to be able to get them doing the content they were (at least partially) deisgned for: by doing Fractals of the Mist. They ought to be made tradeable for Fractal Relics or Pristine Fractal Relics.
That would solve your problem, and mine as well.
e: and it would be coherent with the acquisition of all other dungeon specific gear.
How much time do you have on your hands when doing dungeons?
A few of the dungeons I regularly do well under 30 min (per path):
- Crucible of Eternity paths 1 and 2 (uncontesting might take a while -> guesting)
- Twilight Arbor, paths with the mossheart adds at the endboss and the one that has the AoE tree attack.
- Citadel of Flames paths 1 and 2
- Honor of the Waves path 1 (@bcd)
- Sorrow’s Embrace paths 1 and 3
Cheers and good luck.
We sometimes do Lupicus in a more or less fixed team and very often our PVT Guardian has the aggro on Lupicus almost all the time. Just anecdotal data, though.
As the potions also work against the elementals the boss spawns and they give up to +10% outgoing damage / -10% incoming damange to / from the specific creature types I don’t see why it would not be worth carrying the potions around. Why would one not want to use all available tools in the shed to get a job done?
I’m pretty sure Grawl Slaying will work against the Shaman. Against the Power Suit you might consider using the Dredge Slaying tonic.
No idea, if there’s potions for the other bosses.
Cheers.
For the last part of the Volcanic fractal, the Lava Elemental Grubs can be more difficult to manage than the Shaman as you go higher in fractal level. It would be better to change to an Elemental Slaying potion at the final platform to deal with those grubs.
Yes, of course, I completely forgot about that!
Here’s another thread discussing the use of potions: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Slaying-potions-for-fractals
Cheers
e: complete post edited, I messed up the quoting.

I find this is a weird stance when one is already playing a computer game that ‘promotes’ genocide in various ways. There are various achievements involving the slaying of different types of creatues around the world, and most of those creatues resemble human civilization during various thresholds of human progression. (Grawl engaging in religious / social rituals).
Also all kinds of rewards involve the ‘commiting’ of partwise extinction of whatever species one encounters.
The slaying of ambient life just doesn’t compare to that.
As for the respect for children, it’s the same argument as above. Why would you want (y)our children to engage in genocidal activity anyway? And if not always genocidal, then usually violent and destructive.
Cheers.
