I say they should fix the animation for all races except Asura. The Asura look cool riding the meteor; like they’re in complete control. All of the other races look wobbly and ready to fall off.

Legendary armor: medium vs heavy

Vagrant.8613

I just have enough tickets for T2 wvw ascended armor and was wondering if I should work towards heavy vs medium legendary armor. I play a druid and a dragonhunter in both wvw and fractals. I also use my druid for open world content, living story, map completion, etc. Although I have a lot of sentimental value for my druid (played ranger since GW1 beta), I honestly think my DH is flat out better. I’m very excited about the soul beast and my opinions may change once the new elite specs come out but I thought I’d still ask.

I would like ALL of my tickets back, please.

Sorry for your situation op. I’ve learned from years of gaming to just save all my resources until the very last minute and then buy everything at once.

Raiders keep complaining how WvW legendaries are too easy to get but they don’t realize that both the WvW back piece and armors require the same time gated resource. The PVE legendary back piece (fractals) and armor can be work on at the same time.

Welcome to Guild Wars, where everything is time gated and the number of hours required to get things don’t make sense! I only have 1100 tickets right now, which is close to getting me ascended T2. The grind for the 6000+ tickets is going to be hell.

For full set, 6570 tickets not including precursor cost.
365 tickets max per week
= 18 weeks

Precursor cost via Ascended T2 armor = 1310 tickets
365 tickets max per week
= ~ 4 weeks
+ Legendary conversion cost of 18 weeks

  • ~ 22 weeks*
Cost per Grandmaster is roughly 35 gold now.
20 needed for the full set = 700 gold to get full set 7 weeks faster than the below method.

Precursor cost via Exotic T2 armor to Mistforge Ascended Armor = 1310 tickets + 2620 tickets = 3930 ticktes
365 tickets max per week
= ~ 11 weeks
+ Legendary conversion cost of 18 weeks

  • ~ 29 weeks*

Don’t forget about the 1500+ rank requirements for the Mistforged armor

Base pips have increased by +2. Each box gives tickets, not just the final box. Completing diamond is like 355 tickets now. I’m in WvW right now. Diamond does repeat so there essentially is no weekly cap.

From what I’ve seen in the weeks I did finish Diamond, Diamond does repeat, but after the first completion, it does not reward any tickets, just get the other rewards from each box.

Unless they changed it this patch?

Dev confirmed that diamond tickets aren’t supposed to be repeatable and will fix the issue.

I finished the Fearless achievement on my condi viper druid. Short bow & axe/torch. Glyph of empowerment & alignment & signet of the wild & entangle. Electric wyvern and smokescale for pets (I would suggest switching out the smokescale for something like the wolf that has better CC).

Step 1: enter combat
Step 2: exit combat by going into the hall. Self doubt will break aggro and heals itself.
Step 3: Wait in hall as you build up 25 stacks of the debuff so you get alacrity

Step 4: Enter combat – Wait until all your skills are recharged before attacking. The first thing you need to do it break his breakbar. Electric wyvern and axe skill 3 should be able to break his bar. Once broken, unload all your condis on him.

Step 5: When all your skills are on cooldown, stop attacking and bring your pet back. Use your pet as a meat shield!!!! Use F1 and F3 to position your pet as a shield. Switch pets every 19s so your pet doesn’t die. Repeat step 4 when all skills are recharged.

While I agree that the Outnumbered buff needed to be changed, I don’t think this current implementation really fixes the problem at all. My breakdown below:

1. First, the good news. From my observations, it seems that once you acquire the Outnumbered buff, it persists on you for the duration of the entire tick. This means that you now don’t have to worry about a sudden flood of players rushing onto your map right before the tick and potentially “stealing” your bonus pips. You’ll get them regardless. This is a wonderful change, ANet. Kudos on this part.

2. Unfortunately, this does nothing to address the REAL problem that was being caused by Outnumbered, which was people continuing to stay on ON maps doing small little things that don’t really benefit your server at all, like just running around capping sentries or shrines, or running yaks to Keeps that already have max supply. It’s disheartening when your Commander puts out a call for defenders for a T3 Keep under attack, and only 1 or 2 people show up to the Emergency WP, when you know for a fact that there’s plenty more players around; they’re just off doing their own thing getting ON pips. And I can’t really blame them. When it’s so difficult to get pips (particularly if you’re a new player), why would you go help with a defense that may fail anyway when you’d get far better rewards just continuing to do what you’re doing and raking in double (or even triple) the pips you’d normally make?

This problem is compounded under the new Decay system, because if you’re unable to get any participation credit (entirely possible during protracted sieges where you don’t get immediate kills), you might wind up losing all of your participation anyway.

3. The root cause of this unhealthy WvW behaviour still exists, which is the fact that it takes an unreasonable amount of time to progress through the Skirmish track every week. It’s no wonder that players are being driven to use Outnumbered in unintended ways that wind up affecting how the rest of WvW performs. I STRONGLY urge the devs to read through the suggestions in this thread and look at increasing the baseline pip acquisition rate so that players don’t feel that they are losing out by taking part in “normal” WvW: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Feedback-Pip-Acquisition-merged/first

Well said. I agree 100%.

I don’t understand the problem people have with this update. The only players who will get “penalized” are those who “deserve” to be = last minute map hopping parasites.

For everybody else, nothing has changed.

That’s the problem, nothing has really changed. There have been multiple requests to have the outnumbered bonus reduced (pips from other bonuses increased). Because I’m only rank 150, I’m still going to farm the outnumbered bonus. And I’m going to continue ignoring my team in other maps even if they need help, unless they have the outnumbered bonus. GG Anet.

Vagrant.8613

I’m rank 130. It took me 252 ticks (21 hours) to complete the diamond chest this week. I have no issues with how many hours it takes to complete. Those that have more time should be able to earn it while those who don’t, shouldn’t. On a typical week, I only have enough time to complete the gold chest.

My biggest issue is the fact that I have to heavily rely on the outnumbered bonus. Look at my picture for proof. 690 pips came from the outnumbered bonus. When I’m on an outnumbered map, I’m not contributing anything to my team. Most of the time I’m just running around killing dolyaks, sentries, guards, and capturing camps. If my world need helps on another map, I’m ignoring them unless they have the outnumbered bonus there. The outnumbered bonus is toxic and needs to be reduced/removed. In return, the commitment and war score bonuses need to be increased.

Long story short, I stopped playing GW2 around the time HoT pre-orders started but finally bought HoT this past sale. I really don’t have a lot of time to play games these days and I’m wondering if my time will be better spent on my Ranger or Guardian. Since dungeons are now dead, I will probably just do fractals and world meta events.

Ranger: has 100% map completion (100% druid spec); exotic berserker armor and ascended berserker trinkets. Will cost a lot of time/gold crafting ascended Viper gear.

Guardian: only 55% map completion (will take a lot of time collecting 155 more hero points). Has ascended berserker armor, trinkets, and weapons.

9 pages and there haven’t been many solutions offered. Just people bickering back and forth. A lot of people have duplicate legendaries and they feel cheated for spending the time and money to make them. Don’t discount their feelings just because you don’t feel the same way. Offer solution instead.

I’m going to shamelessly plug my proposal again because I’m sure a lot of people have passed over it (click the spoiler):

A lot of people are concerned about legendaries no longer being special. A lot of people feel cheated for making 2 of the same legendaries. Here is a proposal that may or may not address the issues:

Part 1: My solution to legendaries is to allow them to be in the wardrobe. HOWEVER, copies of the legendary will NOT provide an aura or footprints. They will still have the weapon trail or special projectile. Things that don’t have an aura or footfall will loose a special effect. The Flameseeker Prophecies will loose the aura around the shield. The Minstrel will loose the music notes. If anet wishes to do so, they can even go as far as taking away the weapon trail and special projectiles so you are left with nothing more than just a simple weapon skin.

This solution allows people to tell if you are holding a real legendary or simply a copy. You can still feel special knowing you are holding a crafted legendary vs. a copy. This solution also benefits people who have made the same legendary twice but are using then on different toons. It will also provide an incentive to crafting a duplicate legendary vs. simply making a wadrobe copy. It also addresses the issue of people crafting an Eternity to sell it but still have copies of Twilight and Sunrise. I think this is a fair compromise to people who can’t afford the time and money to craft a duplicate legendary but still want one on their alt.

Part 2: Addition to part one (above) , people dual wielding the same legendary on a single toon will have an enhanced/larger aura/footprints (similar to how Eternity users get a larger aura & bigger footprint).

This basically sets up 3 categories of dual wielders
1) People dual wielding wardrobe copies = have no aura or footprints = lulz
2) People wielding 1 real legendary and 1 copy = normal current special effects
3) People dual wielding 2 real legendaries = enhanced special effects that sets them apart

This is will take a lot of work on Anet’s part in terms of coding but I think it addresses a lot of issues and will be worth it.

I know what you mean, but all these people running around with legendaries worked for it, whatever they are using it on their warrior, or guardian, they still worked for it.
A lot of people with legendaries don’t like playing alt because they invested so much time on their skins. the only difference now is we`re going to see them with their legendaries on different classes, but it`s still only 1 person.

I know what you’re talking about too. I have a Sunrise on my Guardian and would love to have one on my ranger. With my proposed solution, I would still be able to make a copy of my Sunrise and give it to my Ranger. The only difference is that the copy won’t have all the special effects that the real Sunrise on my Guardian has. The copied Sunrise will still have particle effects that allow it to stand out from other weapons but at the same time will lack subtle effects that only the real legendaries will have. I think this is a fair compromise to people who can’t afford the time and money to craft a duplicate legendary but still want one on their alt.

This is too much work for a problem with a simple solution.

The right answer to this problem is unbinding the doubles/triples. This way Anet offer people with more than one of the same legendary the opportunity to sell or keep them if they like the whole “stat switch”

Once again, there is more to gain than there is to loose, don`t make Anet back off on something great.

That solution works but it doesn’t address the fact that everyone and the their grandma’s dog will be running legendaries. There will be nothing to separate real legendaries from copies.

I have a problem with Part 1, a skin has particle effects, I assume you accounted for that. An incinerator spits out fire, normal. But ONLY the mainhand would show footprints. What would this be if you keep the copy on your offhand? The fire will still spit as removing particle effects entirely from a Sunrise or Twilight would just make it a Scarlet’s Rainbow look on the blade?

I’m not too familiar with all the special effects that come with each legendary so I apologize for that. Anet doesn’t have to take away all the special effects of a legendary (such as weapon trail on Sunrise/Twilight or special projectiles on Dreamer).
Wardrobe copies of incinerator will still maintain its “spit out fire” effect but will not provide footprints. Real incinerators will provide footprints regardless if it is on the main-hand or offhand. Dual wielding real incinerators will give an enhanced effect.

Then use The Egg Baron’s spreadsheet (click the “Fine materials” tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet) to see which t5 mats are worth promoting to t6 (you’ll save a ton of gold doing this at the cost of skill points). Dungeons and champ farming are a good way to get gold to buy t5 mats. Champ farming has the added benefit of giving you skill points which you’ll need for the t5 promotion recipe.

The order went through and I decided to start building my first legendary. I just need 75 more t6 totems and I’ll be done but the whole process has been completely underwhelming. It’s been nothing more than buy this or buy that…farm this…promote these materials. The only thing legendary about the process is the 100% world completion. I dunno, maybe I would feel different if I didn’t have to buy my precursor.
