Hi.
Today I noticed this.

As a healing Ele, when I Blast an Ice field, and grant Frost Aura to myself and allies I am able to proc traits like Elemental Bastion and Invigorating Torrents in the Tempest trait line which heal and provide boons.
But!
When I Blast an Ethereal field and grant Chaos Armor, the Chaos Armor doesn’t proc any of those traits.

The traits do not specify anything about which aura procs them, they just say that auras I grant proc them, which implies that every aura should proc but that is not he case.

Please look into this. Ty.

Just because I see a lot inaccurate info in this thread..
You need 20,000 points to finish a reward track.
At T6 participation, you gain 195 reward track points every 5 min. 20,000/195 = ~103 ticks*5min = ~515min = 8hours and 35min.

Ideally you should be using an EXP booster (50%) and your guild hall booster (10%) to get more reward track progress. Yes, there are other boosts but those are harder to get.

With those 2 boosters, I believe you gain 312 points per 5 min. 20,000/312 = ~65 ticks*5min = ~325min = ~5hours and 25min.

And all that without taking into account additional reward track progress you can gain from daily potions and pip-chest potions.
The daily potions give 250 points each and you can get up to 6 of them.
The pip-chest potions give 25 points each.

You can finish a track within less than 5 hours if you do all 4 wvw dailies + maintain T6 participation.

i mean.. u r fight a bunch of other players who are testing new specs…

yes i believe scourge is by far the best pof spec for wvw… and i think it will kill base necro and reaper because it does more dmg than both plus brings a lot of utility. but this is a problem with necro/reaper itself… that the only viable way to play it is to run condi shouts with reaper runes and abuse th very balance trait that is deathly chills.
either way, i do not believe scourge is op, but we will have to wait and see when pof arrives.

also u have no stability and no condi removal with that scourge zerg..
any decent fighting group would just cc you and bomb you while u cant even cast ur barriers.

You do realise tactivators become public once there’s no longer people from the guild on the map right? This is to prevent a guild putting all these upgrades on a keep and they become useless once there’s no-one around.

This is incorrect.
Tactics go public on their own whenever a person from that guild leaves the map, regardless if there are more players from this guild still on the map.

Some time ago we held SMC and i was scouting.
Every time our commander left the map to go to another BL, the tactics would go public even tho I was still on EBG.

It is without any doubt bugged and needs to be fixed or better yet, reworked.
I think an easy solution can be doing these 2 things:
1. Show a log of all the people who pull a tactic at an objective.
2. Allow guilds to make “blacklists” to block specific players from pulling tactics that this guild controls.

maybe guilds can “blacklist” specific players that are known to troll tactics? then when a guild has a claim over the objective the blacklisted person can pull tactics there.

the public activation check clearly is bugged and doesn’t work at all.

Idk how people can even be on the “minor” servers.
It is sooo unstable, one week you might be linked to someone good, then you might be re-linked to some T4 server…

I think deleting most servers and keeping 5 tiers would be the best solution since it will bring some stability.

Right now its pure BS, especially if you server is full and you hae guild members on a linked server… you have to:\
a. help them pay to xfer to the new link
and….
b. the newly xfered players cant earn some rewards.

while b. seems good to prevent bandwagonning i do see how its unfortunate for players who simply wanna play with their new friends who happen to be in a """"full""""" server.

who cares? i have yet to see some1 with banner make a difference…

Turtle banner can single-handedly win a fight for you.
Before Mistrust trait from mesmers got removed, drag banner could do it too.

I do agree that Centaur banner is worthless tho.

PS. When you have a banner all you F-skills and everything related to them doesn’t work. Rev utilities come purely from F-skills. That’s why Revs don’t have utilities while carrying a banner. This has been around since HoT came out, don’t expect this to get fixed for a few more years, if ever….

No. It is already way too easy to defend a T3 objective.
It takes like 5 people with a brain to stop a map queue from taking a T3 keep. If anything, attackers should get more tools to attack objectives.
It’s ridiculous that people just wanna hide behind their walls and sit on ACs all day instead of fighting.

Weaver is beyond disappointing especially for staff. needs a lot more work.
Feels slow and clunky, need an ability to access our 3-4-5 skills without waiting 4 sec/sacrificing one utility slot. Ele is squishiest class in the game, all we have is our utility skills to survive.
Also once again, Eles get the worst elite possible. Literally useless if u r not playing full melee, which you hardly can because u just insta die anyway.
I played ele for almost 4k hours, like 80% of my game time in gw2…. and weaver feels literally unplayable.

Scourge is looking pretty good but needs a little bit of tweaking.
High condi dmg, but the support aspect of it is meh.
Barrier is bad, decays way too fast.
Surviving without shroud/mobility/decent defensive skills in wvw is crazy hard.
Needs to have and give more barrier to be a viable ‘group support’ class in wvw.

Tbh lowering all maps caps by like 10, lowering each server player cap, opening another tier and changing relinks to be every one month would probably help the servers a bit.
Offer free transfers to ‘low’ pop servers to spread players a bit.

Also deleting blackgate could help.

Use unravel problem solved, Your main issue is that weaver is just not for pvp atm, Ele do not have the defensive utility or the hp for full melee confrontation, it would be a phenomenal PvE spec with out a doubt though.

That’s RIDICULOUS!!
We have to give up an entire utility skill to get to a skill we want to use ?? WHAT??
Ele is already lowest HP and light armor, super squishy class…. Why would we have to give one utility that we can use for defense, to use a skill without waiting 4 seconds for it???

You should be able to double click and get fully into an attunement with no kittening 4 seconds cooldowns fsssss
Maybe add an F5 so when u hold F5 and go into an attunement, it changes your 4-5 skills instead of your 1-2 skills. Make it easier to get to the skills you actually NEED.
Something needs to change.. right now Weaver just feels awkward and clunky asf.

edit: also since eles cant weapon swap, let the weapon wap button swap the elements we’re attuned to right now.

My opinion on scourge (wvw perspective)

So I had some time to run in wvw already with my guild.
What I realized so far is that…. ‘support’ Scourge needs some changes….
As it stands it cannot be a viable “group support” class, as Anet wants.
Yes, it does decently good condi dmg, but there is no reason right now to run anything other than trailblazers even for “supporting”.

Now that we no longer have a shroud our surviveability is down to zero..
We now back to having no mobility (Sand Swell has too long a cast time, last for barely 5 seconds and is a rly rly awful ele blink basically…)

Barrier needs to be buffed. You grant WAYYYY to little of it even with healing power… and it barely scales with healing power in the first place…
Also the decay on barrier is ridiculous. Give us at least 3 seconds before it starts to decay and lower the decay rate. Aegis is 10x better than barrier right now, tbh.

SHADE SKILLS:
F1 and Base shade effects need slightly larger radius.. 180 is wvw is near impossible to utilize because everyone is always moving so quickly. That means you HAVE to have the big shade trait no matter what. Make it at least 240 for now and see how it goes.

Next, every F2-5 skill should grand some barrier.
F2 – should have 3sec cd at most, lower condi-to-boon to 1 and also maybe add one boon-to-condi on enemies, make it give like 1k barrier

F3 – should give like 3k barrier and have at most 5 sec cd.

F4 – I guess this one is just a fear so it doesnt have to have a barrier. Should prolly strip boons on foes tho.. Or have some other kind of offensive aspect to it. Because if the enemy has stability, you are literally just wasting 20% of your life force for nothing.

F5 – should grant like 3k barrier on cast, then another 1k every pulse.

TRAITS:
Nourishing Rot – 3sec ICD for 5% is a little high. At least make it 3sec ICD per particular target that you corrupt but lower the gain %. At the moment not worth using over the other traits.

Desert Empowerment – Making this grant barrier on ALL F1-5 skills. Also possible BUG: having Sand Savant trait doesnt increase the number of targets to whom you give barrier to 10.

Unending Corruption – Making this trait convert boons on all F1-5 skills. Right now there is 0 reason to use it. Also same BUG with Sand Savant, still 5 targets.

SKILLS:
Oppresive Collapes – Looks like a rly cool skill but why is it a single target ?

Dessicate – Worthless. Not sure why anyone would ever use it.

Sand Swell – A crappy, super delayed version of ele blink. Either make it faster/near instant to cast or make it work more like a mes port. Flesh Wurm is better than this skill lol.

Serpent Siphon – Maybe add more poison stacks to it so it actually does dmg but lower/remove barrier? Or keep the dmg but make the barrier on actually possible to get? One of the two needs to happen, right now it pretty useless as both dmg and barrier source.

Ghastly Breach – Make this ground targeted with 900 range. OR make it follow the position of my char.

This is all I got for now, Will put more hours into scourge as the weekend goes.

TL:DR:
Barrier is bad.

Needs to give more barrier to be a viable ‘support’ class in wvw.
Still decent condi dmg tho.

Some newbie WvW questions

1. Yes some classes are always gonna be better than others. Wvw is about group utility.
Guards have always been good in wvw for the simple reason that they can give stability to others.
Other good classes in wvw are:
healing Tempest, healing Rev, condi Reaper, boonshare/portals/veils Chronos.
Healing druids are okay too. but usually Eles and Revs do it better.
See what you enjoy best (frontline, support, etc) and make a class to fill that role.
I would say guardian is the best class to start with because as long as you give out stab and sit close to tag, you’re gonna be considered useful.

2. Looks around a lot for incoming zergs. Try to learn names of towers and camps to give more accurate information to your commanders. If you wanna go one step further, learn to use siege disablers, those can be huge in both offence and defense. But there isn’t really too much you can do in a group with random players tbh.

3. Stay close to you commanders.
Give accurate call outs. Use map chat for map callouts, don’t post map specific things in team chat….
Make sure you only build the siege dropped by your commander and not troll siege.

I would say if you want to really enjoy wvw, try looking for a wvw focused guild.
Im sure every server out there has at least one guild that will be recruiting players.
The fact that you use voice comms means you’re already better than 50% of other players, and if you have and use a mic too then you’re golden.

I can agree with this.
Healing and boonshare players usually end with less bags at the end of the day, but what they do is essential to win.
Healing and applying boons should share participation if the members they buff get kills.

I’ve said it before, we need to nerf Meteor Shower. That single skill has been used as the “reason” to nerf Ele a bunch of time. Just remove the skills and suddenly they will realize how over-nerfed Ele is.

It’s funny they nerfed Tempest so much that a base Ele can achieve similar DP by just camping Fire.

Removing/Reworking Meteor Shower is the first step to have a balance discussion about Ele DPS.

How about no?
They already killed meteor shower by putting that stupid ICD in it.
Power Ele gets nerfed over and over and over every other patch, and people still whine about it…
Power Ele is already dead in wvw. There is no need for more nerfs.

Also that vid… that’s with perma alacrity, quickness, war banners, 25might, fury and other crap. Those are like the ideal buffs to have, you’d never see all those on one guy in wvw or fractals or pretty much anywhere unless its super coordinated and for a short duration……

While I would love to see a form of punishment for such behaviour, Anet will never make it happen.

Instead a countermeasure could be some sort of limit on how many times you can kill the same enemy in a span of time, without killing anyone else.

To be clear, you don’t lvl gathering or harvesting in this game. You just buy tools of the appropriate lvl and gather stuff. For lvl 80 you’d need orichalcum tools. You can buy them at any merchant.

Crafting, yes, you need to lvl that Two crafting professions per char. You kinda need that for a lot of things in this game.

PvP rewards you for losing, simple as that. You can lose each and every game and still get the legendary armor, it’ll just take longer. Same for WvW, which is THE game-mode with the lowest skill-ceiling of them all: Hide within the zerg and auto-attack, that’s about it. And yet again, you get rewarded for losing. Personally, I couldn’t care less if the game mode has been neglected in the past or if it takes XY time spent to get the legendary armor there, neither of this is any justification for shoving these players endgame rewards up theirs for literally zero effort other than “being there”.

Don’t make me laugh.
While I can agree with you that the avg. wvw player skill is pretty low, it still takes as much as skill as 90% of all other pve activities. Same concept for both activities really. Run around and kill stuff. And it’s really saddening that Anet encourages this sort behaviour for wvw too……. but w.e.

Anyway, there are plenty of wvw players who far more skilled than others and to be honest, the skill-ceiling for wvw is far far far higher than it will ever be in pve, raids or w.e pve activity.

One thing is fighting vs an AI, like you do in raids. All you need to do is learn the skills of the boss and you’re set. Easy.
A whole different thing is to fight vs other(good) players who will actually counter your stuff and can actively change strategy during fights.

Don’t talk down on wvw players until you actually try to see what skill in wvw means.

If you consider the pvp side of wvw,
CCing another player out of the air sounds like player vs player to me.

This gives a different opportunity for someone to escape death by gliding away one way or another and should NEVER happen.
If you would have died without gliding, then you should die with gliding as well. Otherwise gliding will impact combat in wvw too much and you will another mass quitting from wvw.

Or laugh and free cast into them while they are defenseless, cc them and watch them take fall damage and get super hard CC(you cannot stunbreak fall knockdown) or when they flat out die.

You are clearly new to wvw.
Despite all the kitten ktrains, this mode is not PVE and should NEVER becomes as that.

While i find this amusing…. with this change 2 things need to be in place.

1. You should not be able to glide while in combat. This is a HUGE no-no. Jumping off a cliff should mean death, not a freeb escape.

2. It should be 5x times harder, near impossible even, to get out of combat in wvw during fights, like while orange swords are in the area near youw. As it is right now, it is wayyyyy too easy to occ.

As long as those 2 things happen I think its ok to have it in for testing.

Well this is unexpected…
Very happy to see this change, but at the same time Im scared to imagine how heavily time gated this will be… Prolly gonna take several years to make a single set lol.

Once again, while Im glad to see such reward changes come to wvw, I hope some major balance changes are coming some time soon.
