Look at how effective someone is in a full Dire set.
Nice balance.

The problem with server links is if you transfer to a lower server, there is always a chance of getting screwed by the relink by getting linked with someone you really hate or getting separated with people you meet on the host server (which is what happening with me right now)…… this is why I do not want to be a on a low server but instead would rather pay more and go to a server where Im safe no matter who we get linked with…
Heck, if the new server I am planning to transfer to remains ‘full’ I will probably quit the game altogether (only play for wvw). I would legit rather quit the game than being on a “nobody” server that will get tossed around to/against matchups I dislike.
My current server (SoS) is dying and is going to have a lot of people leaving it around the 24th just because it is somehow full while we are permanently outnumbered during NA. Just makes no sense keeping T4/3 and some 2 servers closed..
Links or not, having this many server does no work… If they would permanently merge the lower tier servers into the higher ones, it would be so much better, in my opinion at least.
This is my take on all of this. Hate me if you want.
Edit:
Just something from todays run we had.
Love that outnumbered buff!

Hopefully never…
You know you could at least make an effort to provide something ontopic that adds something of value to the conversation. Anet needs a pit they can dump all these wasteful postings. I mean you took a min to read the thread, take a minute to respond next time. I know the crybaby meta is strong, but its time to man up.
The empty DBL maps spoke quite well for themselves…
Hopefully never…
Note that the buff gives participation not reward track progression (like the new Guild upgrade does)
O-Buff makes you reach +195 for less effort so you effectively advance your track faster because you have less windup time.
If you’ve already reached +195 participation, O-Buff will do nothing in regard to track progression.
Ahhh I assumed participation was actual participation…
Well that makes it kind of lame >.>
Thanks for clearing that out tho…
Is it me or does the outnumbered buff does not grant the extra +50% participation?
I followed my reward track score and it went from 100 to 295 while I had the outnumbered buff on and was T6 in track participation.
As someone who plays SoS NA and have that buff all the time, I’d really like it if it gave the extra participation :^)
People who do this need to by punished. And not only on the spy account, but their main account as well. No saying they need to be banned, but being locked out of wvw for a period should be enough.
Also a report option for something like this would be nice to have.
Maybe to help nameplate clutter:
- use abbreviated server names, henge of denravi = HoD
- remove the tiers of someone’s rank once they hit bronze
- remove ranking / guild tags from minionsCurrent:
Henge of Denravi Platinum Assaulter [ASCII]Suggested:
(faded guild tag)
HoD Platinum [ASCII]
&
(faded italic)
HoD MinionI’d probably bring it in as a toggle like the standard model is for spvp.
Yeah that would be nice,
Something along the lines of
“HoD Invader”
“HoD beast” (for pets ect)
But very importantly have it be a toggle (like press once to have short names, press again to go back to long names) or at least an option to turn it on/off in wvw or something.
EDIT: I feel like toggle is VERY important because it will allow you to recognize the enemy driver (or any other high priority target) with 1 press of a button, instead of having to go to options to check/uncheck the name format which takes a lot more effort and by the time you do it might be too late…
So yeah, toggle for name format would be be great, maybe even help reduce fps drops in massive 3-way fights..

Hard to say about the damage, but the heal definitely works.
I personally seen my hp go up by a lot after interrupting enemies.
It is much harder to notice if the damage from it is there without testing it with another player though.
Unreal.
DBL basically killed wvw… people finally started coming back… and now this…
I simply cannot understand why people are still voting in for them… they are beyond AWFUL.
Just wait until they rotate the DBLs back and see wvw population drop, then the same people that voted for DBL will start asking what happened and blaming anet.
GG.
You tried Anet, thank you.
But now I see this game mode deserves to die.
BG should never open
Idk about TC cause I am not in T1
But I dont get why other servers like T3 servers are full again.. so stupid.
No, there were always blobs however making squads smaller can only help and it has been suggested in the past that squads be smaller numbers.
No. Squads have VERY little to do with blobbing..
What anet needs to do is give an edge to smaller groups against blobs in terms of fighting strength.
Blobs should have the upper hand in terms of PPT, a blob will be able to flip objectives faster and deploy more siege.
Smaller SKILLED groups should have the upper hand in terms of fighting vs a blob.
This way there is a down and an up side to each.
I haven’t been following the polls, someone mind explaining to me why op feels this way/what they’re talking about?
The results from the poll were
(Factoring out “Ignore my vote” selections)
38.1% Re-evaluate every 1 month
15.9% Re-evaluate every 2 months
28.9% Re-evaluate every 3 months (this is the current default)
5.5% Re-evaluate every 4 months
11.6% Re-evaluate every 6 monthsIn response to this, ANet’s interpretation was to split the difference between the two most popular options and to re-evaluate every 2 months.
Personally, I think that is a sensible and defensible interpretation (though it is not the option I chose).
A majority did want a shorter matchup, and they delivered to that. A sizeable minority also wanted the default/current length of matchup and they paid respect to that preference as well by splitting the difference between the 1 and 3 month preferences.
Should’ve just went with the majority… but then again, I voted for 1 month too so…
Hard to say, but imagine it did help a little. Server links and increase of total population is why wvw is now blob wars.
One thing about squads I would like to see is the ability to hide tag from public in wvw.. So that you still have a squad leader and people in the squad can see the tag, but people outside the squad cant see it.
I personally play gw2 because of wvw. I like it. Only game mode that actually keeps me in this game.
Its actually funny. Aside from reset night, every other NA time we have the outnumbered buff in EBG lol. I think ocx is the only time we dont have that buff.
Its sad that this happens… this sort of unbalance only creates more unbalance.
I am personally looking to transfer out of SoS soon just because its becoming old getting rolled by blobs every time im EBG. At least I dont have to repair my armors though huh.
Displacement abilities fix it too. Like ele burning retreat (staff fire 4)
But ye.. this needs to be addressed.
Block them. Its there for this exact reason. Anet has better thing to worry about.
those runes are fine… they are a defensive version of pack runes and honestly not that good unless everyone in your party is using them…
I just wish anet would focus on something to discourage blobing and encourage smaller even number groups…
I am honestly so sick of 70v70 fights… i dont even feel like playing in prime because blobs are just not fun.You know, you have the option to not join that fight? Go to another map? Roam? Guild raid with your ideal number?
We do that… at least we try.
We run a 20-25 man guild group generally. We often run tagless so we dont have pugs too.
EBG is not an option for us because anything we run into is a map-queue blob..
We go into an enemy bl run there, try to lure a guild group to come out and defend a keep but all we get is the just the same EBG map-queue popping out to defend it.
I feel like guild raids are pretty much dead… Yes, we do run into smaller guild groups about our size from time to time and those fights are the best……. but for the most part anything else we face nowadays is commander + 10-15 guildies + 50 pugs…
What I would like to see is something to encourage more people to run in smaller groups like we do… as of right now blobing up has no downsides
I do agree on one thing.. where is my option to keep 3 alpine BLs and never see DBLs ever again?
They should just make marks pulse the same effects they do now every second for like 2-3 seconds to a total of 3-4 hits.. Maybe nerf some of the effects a little bit.. but just make em hit more than once..
Right now marks feels very lame to use really.
I just wish anet would focus on something to discourage blobing and encourage smaller even number groups…
I am honestly so sick of 70v70 fights… i dont even feel like playing in prime because blobs are just not fun.
I think the only reason option 1 is winning is only because it offers 2 alpine and only 1 BDL lol.
This really shows how people feel about DBL
Literally same thing happened to us today..
We were running around our BL after losing pretty much all, trying to defend what is still T3… when a big SBI zerg came to our T3 NET.. and of course our Ewaypoint in that tower was already on a 28min cooldown. Talk about coincidence…
People who make spy accounts need to punished heavily.. not only on their spy account but also punish their main accounts.
Also absolutely HAVE to remove the ability from free accounts to pull tactivators…
Im on SoS and our EBG keep Ewaypoint is on CD 24/7… also we had like 5 ballis right next to the supply depot just as well as random rams all over inner.. clearly someone burning supply…
Again, This needs to be addressed asap and with severity.
the main problem is anet kept the initial links for too long… long enough to meet rly great ppl from the other server to a point where i am really sad that we will have to enemies in the future.
They should have rotated servers more often i feel… before people were able to actually make such good connections..
im gonna be pretty sad when they change links for sure..
Please no subscriptions…
This game is already basically buy to play I cannot even imagine how someone can play on this game f2p…
There is no need for this sort of money milking….
I honestly wish there was something to discourage people from blobing.. and instead to encourage people to make smaller guild groups.. I don’t even care about scoring as much as I hate fighting or being part of a blob (mostly because the enemy has a blob too)..
Agree… I HATE TD with a passion… I don’t even go in there to get all the achievements… hands down the worst map in the game.. no only is it confusing to find your way in to, all the things in there hit way too hard and too…
If next expansions are going to have maps like TD then i am 100% NOT going to buy…
AB is the only good map from the 3 HoT maps.. DS is okay too. VB is also a pain cause most of the stuff is god knows where up in sky… but TD is just the worst…
Nice to see that this was not fixed after THIS much time considering this is part of a LEGENDARY collection……….
Anet please
Hi.
So I am doing the nevermore collection IV… I am at the part where I need to get the “Friend of the Drakes” thing for the collection. To get this I need to participate in an event to “stop the Grawl from stealing drake eggs”.. the problem is I waited for hours and that even just does not start.
I checked the wiki and apparently this even can only happen when the couple Adis and Ulfred are done too… the problem is both NPCs are just standing there without any events… the Alfred NPC is just standing in the cave asking for elemental ice… but it is not an event… he is literally just standing there…. and the elementals do not drop the ice either… so i figured this whole chain is bugged… and without this chain it is impossible to advance in the nevermore collection.
Please look into this.
p.s while i am at this: please consider completely removing open world events from giving parts for legendary collections… I spend more time waiting for some events to start than I do actually do collecting the parts i need… which is very annoying and time wasting. Also some events tend to bug out which makes it even worse…….
I thought about some ideas how anet could help discourage blobing up into 70 man blob and running over everyone else.
One thing I came up with is if there is a fight going on, the side that is outnumbered could get a buff that allows their abilities to hit more targets.
Right now most abilities are capped at hitting 5 enemies. What this would allow is for every 10 (this number an be adjusted) people you are outnumbered, you get to affect +1 target with you abilities. For example this means necro wells will hit 6 enemies or guard will grant stab to 6 allies.
This buff could scale by how much you are outnumbered in a fight.
10 = +1 target, 20 = +2 targets, etc.
It’s just something to encourage people to run smaller groups and giving the smaller groups a chance to fight big unorganized blobs.
That does not seem to be the only one.
Maybe that’s just me but this weeks guild mission to do the jumping puzzle in Obsidian Sanctum also seems to be bugged.
I did it both alone and with several guildies.. none of us ended up getting the reward chest even though we got a text saying wvw challenge was completed.
No… in fact they need add the marking buff onto SM as well…. porting into keeps/sm is as lame as it can get…
+1…
Condi is pretty stupid right now.. especially since the dmg scales of only 1 stat meaning you can do a lot of condi dmg and still be stupid tanky…
condi dmg needs a nerf or be made a lot more reliant on expertise (or condi duration in general)
I agree that they need to raise the threshold when server becomes full….
They additionally Anet should limit transfers.. say you can transfer only 2 times year per account or something like that to prevent people hopping servers all the time…
I don’t know about this…
Basically a server with weaker “primetime” coverage will never win since they will fall massively behind and will never be able to catch up since “off-hours” will barely reward anything when compared to “primetime” (and if enemies don’t show up at all = low multiplier = hardly any points earned).
This might kill wvw in off hours completely as well as seal the faith of any weak “primetime” server to always lose…
I can only hope I am wrong…
Anet making restrictions on score during certain hours just because it is night time in the US will be worse change they could ever make…
It will only make people outside the US feel like they are not welcomed and quit the game/wvw.
There is absolutely no need to fix “night capping”… any possible fix will simply be unfair to some groups of players.
I do not understand how can possible argue in favour of doing something like that…
There is no fair “solution” to night capping. Anything Anet could ever implement would be unfair towards some players.
People just have to deal with it…
NO NO NO NO!!!!
Keep Alpine!!
So much better than DBL!
Thank you Anet for finally bringing this back!
At one point I thought about how every active wvw’er on my server should join one guild (since you can join a total of 5, that wouldn’t be such a big deal) just to make it easier to coordinate stuff. Each person can be in his own 4 guilds as he want + one massive server guild. I do wonder how that would work…
However, I do not think that forcing players into guilds for wvw is a good idea… it should always be a voluntary thing.
Since I see that scoring is winning the poll, I will just post it: please work on cross-map chat! That would be such a helpful feature to have!
What could be a nice idea is if your squad leader needs to get into a map like EBG, you should be able to “volunteer” to exit the map so he gets in without a queue.
This way you literally trade your spot for your squad leader.
I think it is still fair since the it has no effect on the people in queue since you wouldn’t have left otherwise, that is, the only reason you left (and a spot on the map became available) was just to let someone else replace you.
Pay to loot? You are saying this as if you cannot pick up loot manually or as if loot doesn’t drop unless you own HoT…
I had very few minor lag spikes since the linking. Usually happened in during massive blob fights, but that used to happen before the merger as well.
Reset night was crazy populated, 100 man queues on EBG and big queues on BLs as well. Tonight was much better, 20 man EBG queue tops and small occasional queues on BLs.
Love this change. Didn’t have so much action in wvw in ages.
This linking is probably of the best things to happen to wvw in a while!
1 day after the linking, I have never seen so many fights on a non reset night.
I am in T3 (SoS) btw, we have about ~10 man queue on EBG and ~5 man queue on home BL as I am typing. Enemy BLs also very populated.
I think this change was fantastic! So many people, so much action!
Maybe add more people who can be on a map because of the queues?
Raising the cap would make the game unplayable because of lag issues.
More people = more lag.
I do like this suggestion and was also thinking about this.
If they could lower map population cap say 80 → 75, this would also help reduce lag a little in massive 3-way fights in EBG.
But I know that reset night always creates queues… especially on EBG.
These queues should go down soon, so this change probably will only create a situation where we will have multiple maps that are just empty during off hours.
We just need to wait a bit and see what happens.
silverwastes the fastest way to farm them imho.
just do some event maps for bandit crests then trade bandit crests for keys and then find a chest train.
