I’d like to start by saying I am a pre-deadline account so I’m not whining about restrictions with the new sms authentication or anything like that.

I don’t have a mobile device- phone or otherwise- to download an authenticatior or use via my phone texts or calls. On top of this I play GW2 on multiple computers and different houses.

I use to get the authenticator pop up semi-frequently and would have to okay it via e-mail, no problem. But recently I haven’t been getting it at all. While it could be that my IP address hasn’t changed I did notice that the client will prompt me to get SMS.

Are E-mail authentications still a thing? Are people still getting them? And if not, how can I protect my account until I DO have a device I can get an authenticator on?

Total support on all these ideas. Can I also add chairs we can actually SIT IN! I know the community has been asking for this for a long time and while it’s a minor thing it’s a big deal for Rpers.

Pretty much what the title says. I bought the monk outfit today and noticed something strange… the ele’s feet were missing!!! I checked on other races and it seems to JUST be human females. I don’t know if it’s just her skintone or not… but I’d like to have feet QnQ please!

bumping this because I’m still having the same issue. I just tried yesterday on a different computer to make a new sylvari and the dialogue was still missing. I have no language or second-party apps downloaded for GW2 I’m still hoping this is a bug and not intentional!!

I made a new sylvari the other day and everything seemed fine. I spoke to Caithe, downed the shadow of the dragon then… nothing. I got my level up but the scene with the other sylvari explaining I’d just woken up was gone was this intentional?

Same here, nothing has worked. I can’t even install the client

I’ve been stuck at this for a while now. I’ve done everything from connect my computer right to my router to restarting my modem. I really just want to play, I can’t even install the client!! Please help

I took out all the asura but got caught by one of the bots. Attacked them, then for some reason Caithe stealthed again. I can’t get out of stealth, the other control thingy wont work, and I have to watch Faolain attack this dude two about half health before he magically goes back to full heath and they fight again. So… I have to start over… awesome

Best way I found for this part (at least taking out the asura) is to take out the ones at the nearest tables first. If you stand near the walls on the other side of the tables the bots can’t get to you… the rest is just waiting for the right time

To the OP and others that are complaining…how many times do you want them to tell you it’s a bug and they are aware of it and trying to work on a solution? You do realize it’s not as simple as plugging them back in to the story where they were since they changed the dynamics of how the story is presented, or that they might have to film new cinematics to cover the missing information, or redo the entire last 2 ‘chapters’ to fit the missing elements back in the correct place. Yes, I know it’s been almost 6 weeks now, but patience is a virtue and almost none of the people posting on the forums seems to exhibit it.

Please show me where they EVER told us it was a bug

Most I got was dev’s being short with me BEFORE I was angry. I asked why it happened, and basically got “It was intentional, therefor not confusing” and that they were “looking into it and would give us an update it a few days”

It has been 6 weeks. Where the heck is our update?

Skimmed through the forums and are the chapters still scrambled? I’d stopped pushing the issue because at least one of the Devs were being completely rude in his responses dodging my questions. Has some of them at least opened it up to discussion? Please?

I’d like to finish an un-scrambled story on at least one of my characters or, at the very least, the scrambled version when it’s MADE TO MAKE SENSE. I really want stuff from the gem store too but REFUSE to give money to a company that has so far made it clear they care more about pvp than the story of their game

(Excuse me for sounding very angry and annoyed. The responses I got before were beyond frustrating when I and other players just wanted some insight or help.)

If they did this because of players complain that will be very stupid thing.
You get praise from the other characters all the time and Trahearne got it like once. If players spend two minutes talking to the NPCs after completing the mission you can see that in their dialogue.

I honestly wouldn’t know. I didn’t get the opportunity to finish the story before it was screwed up

Anet tried defending it… Unclear if they’ll actually fix it but we were told someone’s looking into the story. I’d say don’t touch it till we have word back

This change still do not make any sense because the story was fine.

It’s not just the greatest fear though, both of those chapters are ruined entirely.

And a lot of people complained the Trahearne was getting too much attention, which was the defense of the change. But I’d gladly shove Trahearne back into the spotlight if that meant GETTING OUR STORY BACK

Anet keeps putting us on the backburner

Same happened to me. The dialogue at the end of the battle for fort trinity was also muted.. I just contributed it to lag. Most to the Dialogue still has house as far as I can tell

No that’s not what I mean. By a whole new animal, I mean it’s different issue to me. No offense, man. And I am legitimately helping you out here and at the same time, confirming what I fear about the changes made.

It’s been a frustrating series of events both on tumblr and on the forums trying to get answers and having people think I’m a troll or someone trying to stirr up trouble.

I should have been more clear, I suppose. I’d only heard from others (the links you posted to the “fear arch missing” thread as well) that it was completely gone. I finished chapter 6 already before starting 7 after the patch. The tonn event is not there… I did this event on my other 80 before patch, which is the only reason I’m not crying out “Who the heck is tonn and when did he die!?”

And for the record, I haven’t been able to play the rest of the quests again to be sure as the player I joined in with had to do some stuff. But if I get in touch with him and did those quests again, I’ll provide more updates to support or probably counter my claim.

Ah yeah I can see it. That wasn’t what I had an issue with, though I didn’t do that before the patch. It’s good to know at least part of it is still there, but the event itself was missing from chapter 7 along with temple of lyssa up to the charr tanks/submarine events

Hi Chris, I was fortunate enough to check the instance in question that I mentioned to you about and it seems that the Greatest Fear portion of the story A Light in the Darkness is kept intact. No removals, no nothing. It was only modified on the Story Journal itself, which I still think sucks but nonetheless, I can confirm that the PS was not cut in anyway, shape or form.

Awesome Malkavian I really appreciate the info. Leah is looking into it and we will update when we have more info.

If this is an issue for only some people I’d like to give as much information as possible, I suppose

I play a Sylvari ranger and before the patch I had finished chapter 6. I was somewhere betweem 62-68 at the time of the patch. I picked as a fear “being the cause of someone’s suffering” or something to that effect, but didn’t get an event that went along with it. But I was still graced with Trahearne’s speech on Tonn’s death

Besides the greatest fear taken out I’d still like an explination on the scrambled chapters that make absolutely no sense. It skipped over so much and jumped around right to the cleansing after I took fort trinity. I saw Sayeh (or whatever her name is, water babe) before being introduced to her, but still my character acted as if they’d met before

How hard is it for someone at ArenaNet to just explain these changes? And how they effect existing characters?

Most of 60+ characters seem to be somewhere in chapter 7. Do these all play out the old order?

The one done with Cleansing but not yet through the dungeon bit (ick!) is at the final step of chapter 8.

If you’re going to make significant changes to existing characters — common curtesy says you explain said changes to said players…

And answer our questions… Instead of dodging them and answering with changes made. We know what was changed!!! Why was it changed? And can we get it back to where it at least makes sense…

Until we at least get to talk to someone who isn’t going to do nothing but back this ridiculous scrambled story up, I refuse to spend any more money on gems or recommend the game to any more players.

@Vyetta, I know you mentioned your experience on this thread but forgive me for taking your claim with a grain of salt unless I see some substantial evidence confirming this.

I understand that my lack of evidence is a problem and I was going to get some when I got a third to 70 since when I did it this time around I did not expect things to be this messed up. The fear arch is gone, I have no idea about the vision because my character was lvl 68 when the patch hit. Tonn was nowhere to be found but I still got consoled on his death

You don’t have to believe me, you can go see for yourself, but I will be taking video when I get my norn to these levels… if I can stomach it. If it was just me and a few others complaining, I can totally see how you’d see a few trolls giving the devs grief. But when there are this many people upset about the same thing and Jeremy giving us vague answers and totally and blatantly ignoring the main questions, there is something wrong.

I know there are people who made false claims about just how messed up the leveling system is, so I can understand Anet looking out for more griefers.

I’ve played all the way through chapter 7 and just started chapter 8, there was no Tonn story… yet I got Trahearne consoling me on his death.

The fact that the story is still scrambled, whether or not Tonn is in there somewhere, is still completely annoying and likely confusing to people who’ve never played through it before. Sayeh appears and greets you long before you actually get to meet her? We totally skip the ENTIRE temple of lyssa quest up to just after charging into orr with charr tanks? And then in the same swoop totally miss another important NPCs death

No, the story script will recognize that you’re on Ch8 but did not complete the steps that moved to Ch7, and they will occur where they used to in Ch8.

Can you explain to us how this isn’t confusing and working well? You seem to be dodging that with “working as intended”

Explain how having Trehearne console you on Tonn’s death and the widows grief isn’t totally confusing to new players when the entire arch was taken out

Or how being stopped by Sayeh casually before Trehearne has even introduced you to her isn’t confusing

The story wasn’t broken before, now it’s COMPLETELY ruined and confusing. All we’re asking is if we can have the story back to when it ran smoothly if time isn’t going to be put into making it run smoothly with this needless change. I’ve several friends and a sister that just started playing the game and haven’t hit 70 yet (thank the gods) and I’d feel devastated if they missed out on what was a great story and one of the reasons I loved this game so much

Please, I beg you, revert these changes. They break the story and continuity of the game. They are objectively – not subjectively, but objectively – bad. The story objectively has ceased to make canonical sense as of these changes. There are continuity issues galore, and the personal story’s final chapters have become a disorganised, convoluted and error-ridden mess. There is no justification for these changes, at all. Please do not let these parts of the game become ruined.

For a feature pack that has supposedly focused so much on the new player experience, it seems extremely unfortunate that it has simultaneously destroyed the climactic final chapters of the story for new players.

Exactly this. As I mentioned in my own post, My character and others talked to and about people I hadn’t gotten the opportunity to actually see in the story yet. If I were new, I would be horribly confused. It’s absolutely broken, I challenge you to actually play through it and tell us it’s not. There was nothing wrong with how it was to begin with! And if people did complain, I’m sure they wouldn’t change it and risk it no longer making any sense.

Now when a friend runs into the under water woman after defeating the eye and thinks they missed something, I’ll have to explain to them how Anet thought it best to jumble up the story… so they have to ignore that woman/creature they haven’t seen before??? really? Just as an example, but seeing her as a new player would both confuse and worry me let alone the fact that she already seemed to know my character, and them her.

Even if that’s the way Anet wants it, they should at least take the time to fix teh dialogue to fit the new timeline. I was horribly confused and frustrated and I’m not even new to it

I already leveled one character all the way to 80 and did the personal story up to what seems to now be the middle of the level 70 story quests. Today I got another character to 70 and did chapter 7 after the patch. Please tell me this is something that’s going to be fixed because this is the order my story went in

-Chapter 7 started with rescuing the researchers, as usual

-Jumped right to battle for Fort Trinity

-After battle it cut out EVERYTHING including meeting whatever that water chick’s name is. It goes all the way to when you have to escort Trehearne to the tombs (which is in a level 80 zone) to cleanse what he thinks is the heart of Orr. Norn shaman lady gets risen, all that fun stuff

Also after I killed the eye and cleansed Orr I went back to fort trinity to find Trehearne… who stops me? Water chick!!! Mind you I only knew who she was because when I leveled a character before this horrible patch I actually got to do the part of the story she was in. This time around, if I were new, I’d have absolutely no idea who she was and how my character seemed to know her. But for some reason, they do.

Please fix this. I love the character story and I’m very upset that I missed out on a lot of things I was looking forward to seeing when I picked different options than my previous character had. This really takes away from the game for me and I can see this confusing a lot of others. I’m dreading continuing to play because I don’t want to miss out on anything else. I don’t want to stop playing or being able to experience the story that goes with my character… which was a big reason I loved this game in the first place
