I have a similar problem: I just got Oola’s data crystal from Orl and it doesn’t show up in the collection. Also when I right-click the item, the game crashes (I sent reports, it happened at least 3 times in a row).

I was very bad at it last year, tried if for hours and only made it six times I think. It feels a lot easier this time, I don’t know why that is (I’d like to think that hours of practising finally payed out, but that is probably wishful thinking).

One thing I’d recommend though is: Try it with the action camera mode on (with the crosshair). I just tried it a couple of times and it felt like a great improvement after I got over the initial wobbliness. Hope I’ll make it a few more times this year.

Poor rewards? I played it twice yesterday and got almost 7g for the parcels when I sold them.
I like it the way it is, but I’m usually the one just running around smashing things and building. If I want to fight I play the Snowball minigame (my favourite mini game).

No, I really don’t want this to turn into a real dungeon. I was a little burnt out from HOT and was looking forward to Wintersday for a bit of lighthearted fun. If Toypocalypse was harder it would probably be too long.

I thought it was the best part of the whole LS so far, even though it probably raised more questions than it answered (why, Caithe, why?). It also made playing the twilight arbor dungeon a really new experience (I’d never really watched the videos before as I don’t do dungeons a lot).

So, yes, I’m quite satisfied with the way the story evolves, and it added some tension/drama/human element that was missing before (I don’t really care for the Marjory/Kasmeer relationship, and Rox or Braham seem to have been mostly sidekicks so far). I was surprised they’d added such a dark story arc, it was refreshing. Also, I wouldn’t really call Caithe and Faolains relationship “romantic”. Not the parts that we’ve seen at least.

Difficult. Regarding RP you could talk to the leader of your big guild and explain to him/her that you’re not really gaining influence while typing in chat. I had that problem in another game and decided to give up my (still very new) PvX guild because of that. Not because they required me to spend a lot of time with them but because I felt bad for not participating enough.

RP, on the other hand, cannot be organized without guilds because of the Megaserver. It would be too difficult for new RPers to find others and get into the right version of the map or find somebody for a taxi. Maybe your guild leader will understand.

Best of luck.

Please remember that guardians are not the only ones who use burning. My ranger can’t outburn a guard but if they took that burn damage away from me I would be seriously disappointed. And I played like this before condis got buffed (not in dungeons, don’t worry).

Change cooldowns on guards or whatever but don’t nerf burning globally, please.

-It is completely imbalanced between professions because no effort has been put into balance.

How does class-balancing effect normal, open-world PvE? I’m not talking about hardcore underwater endgame content or PvP, so why not have some explorably underwater areas with mini bosses like the Krait witch or bigger events like Tequatl? If one class is less capable you could switch to another char, that shouldn’t be a problem in this game.
And if it was something like a WvW map you could always choose to stay on the other maps and leave it to people who enjoy underwater combat.

A couple of more underwater traits, especially ultimates and easier switching between builds, would be nice, that’s true – but apart from that I see no reason why 3 weapons shouldn’t be enough. It’s not like you would have to suddenly spend more time under water than above.

Try to see it as a challenge – surviving content without a proper build could be fun as well.

The problem or unlikeliness of this is air ships. Flying and gliding seem to be the future in the game. I guess boats are still important in the game. But important to the hero players? Or just the shipping/fishing npcs?

I don’t think it needs to be linked to the story, as long as it stays true to the general lore. Any kind of horizontal expansion would be good as far as I’m concerned (gliding and masteries seem like a good start).
I don’t know about air battles, it seems more fat-fetched and complicated to me. And it wouldn’t make sense that those things are restricted to new areas (because air is … everywhere, right?).

Anyway, I’m looking forward to gliding.

I had just found the way to Dry Top and was looking for a way to get to the LW story area. Stumbled over a chest during the sandstorm, had a key from the Silverwastes and got one of those insects (for ambrite weapons). I didn’t even know what it was for until I wikied it.

Playing my new warrior in EoTM and getting in a rifle fight with another newbie. Me Asura, him Charr. It was so funny the way we were shooting at each other there for a while, not really managing to kill each other. I think he killed me in the end (he had a greatsword I only had some other dropped 2nd hand weapon), but I was still laughing minutes later. Those moments are the best (of course, in real PvP I wouldn’t have survived two seconds).

Okay, a lot of people don’t like underwater content. But how about boats? Boat crafting, pirate ship battles, racing tracks, islands full of jumping puzzles …
Add to that underwater content that’s not about pvp and everyone should be fine.

Boats could be added to the existing areas because they’re basically flying carpets that are restricted to water surfaces.

I would just add some kind of title or a surname. There should be enough combinations then. Foreign languages might be a solution, too (if there were only English letters allowed, all us French/German/Spanish players would have a serious problem).

If you want to be a Stark (or some japanese anime character), you’re doomed though.

Double-clicking is a little difficult if you have all your fingers on the keyboard most of the time (yes, I’m weird and there’s only one gaming mouse for left-handed people afaik). I really don’t know why they don’t give us the choice to get rid of that horrible ground-targetting if we want to (same for people who want it for ranger). Costs a lot of time during combat and often gets cast at the wrong spot because I can’t see the red rings.

Trapper, lets talk about that.

Whatever they do I just hope they’ll never make them default ground-targetable without an option to disable it. I was getting a little nervous because I thought I’d heard something like that.

The casting takes a while as it is (I sometimes jump back and find that the trap has not been placed yet), so I’ll have to see how it works after the change.

ANET - Give us new armor skins, not Outfits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: WabbaJaga.3861

WabbaJaga.3861

I think outfits are fine. There are still a lot of customizable armor skins. But what I dislike is just one outfit for all three armor classes. It takes away the flavor of weight classes. An ele with Balthazar outfit just doesn’t fit.

But that’s one of the advantages of outfits: As a female warrior/guardian you don’t always have to look like a piece of furniture. Some people like to roleplay, so for them it’s probably good, too.

But I see where you’re coming from and I’d also like more new armor skins. I’d also like more accessories like the scarf and the spectacles – they can create a totally different look without too much effort. A full outfit becomes boring after a couple of days, but more single items might be just as good as new armor.

New players guide: how not to get kicked.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

WabbaJaga.3861

I got maybe 2-3 hours to play. The difference between a group that finishes a dungeon in under 10 minutes and one that takes 20 minutes to an hour directly impacts whether I can do my dungeon tour.

What’s more, people who want to save time also do it because if you finish those dungeons faster, you get to have time to do something else.

I know this is the case and that people want fast, smooth runs. I respect that and stay away from exp/meta groups (which is only wise because, after many months of playing, I’m still a noob, especially in dungeons). But doesn’t respect go both ways? The problem is: Some gold-farmers will join any kind of group that’s available, completely ignoring what’s in the description.

If you need a fast group, join a fast group, please. Don’t join fun / noob /first-time / relaxed parties and then behave as if it was your normal evening rush. It makes the whole thing so frustrating for beginners, and there is a reason people join those kinds of groups. If inexperienced people should learn to respect those who want a smooth farm run (by learning the tactics & gearing up), experienced players should do the same and give others the opportunity to do it at their own pace.

(Not directed at you, personally, just wanted to get this off my chest.)

You’re right, ours are different perspectives and the problem with latejoiners kicking sellers may be a bigger problem, I don’t know about that.

I’m just a little wary of a system that values achievements or numbers over social behaviour. And there may be situations where kicking a person who has contributed more to a dungeon run may be completely understandable.

Also, the problem with disconnects exists, and as long as people are dependent on latecomers the system shouldn’t discourage that. Maybe it wouldn’t change anything, but on the German boards I have already heard people suggest to just kick two people who join a “want to sell” group at once “because they’re probably troublemakers who will kick you”. People start expecting and distrusting other people because of their experiences or even because of what the read in the forums. Your system might solve certain problems and create new ones, I’m just trying to write down my thoughts, no offence meant.

Aren't we all Roleplayers?

PvE doesn’t become PvP because you’re immersed in what you’re doing (fighting NPCs). I think this is a good comparison for the difference between “role-playing” and “playing an RPG”. Rpers don’t just put themselves into their character’s place while playing a game (interacting with an environment); RP is about creating a specific character and interacting with other RPers’ characters, getting to know them, being influenced by what they do and seeing what happens.

Progression points would still not prevent all problems, maybe make them worse in some cases.

A couple of days ago I (= dungeon newbie, maybe 15 runs so far) entered a new story dungeon to find that everybody else was already at the other end of the dungeon. I tried to make my way there and when I arrived and said hello, I was kicked without comment. Nothing to cry over as I hadn’t done anything yet, but nevertheless frustrating (I wondered what I had done wrong, I’m that kind of person). How could a progression system have helped me? Wouldn’t it have justified that kind of behaviour?

The other day we lost a party member to a disconnect, yesterday someone left in the middle because, apparently, his/her dinner was ready. Why would anybody help inexperienced players with half-completed or almost completed runs if the system puts them at a bigger risk to be kicked?

I like Onis’ last suggestion. Maybe you could make certain choices not just available but compulsory before posting a lfg offer. A lot of conflicts could be avoided by saying exactly what you want and what you have to offer I think. On the other hand, I don’t want to miss the funnier descriptions in lfg, so that option should definitely stay. ^^
