Axe does much more damage for me using 30-0-10-0-30 power crit build. The sceptre bleed do 200 damage every 5 seconds. The axe attacks hit harder and dish out the damage up front especially when you have might or use the 20% more damage when enemy is less than 50%.
Okay and how are you going to compare damage from someone who AoE’s 5 people on a point compared to some thief who is backstabbing a single target. A damage meter is not going to tell you anything of worth in an uncontrolled environment. There are so many factors that affect the outcome.
Sorry, by Rabid gear I mean +condition + precision +toughness. Condtion damage is the major stat and precision and toughness are the minor.
If you’re a Necro I would go with Rabid gear because you already have a high vit pool and if you’re running a condition build you already have multiple ways to dump/transfer your conditions. so you shouldn’t even need to worry about them killing you.
Damage taken in death shroud does not transfer on life in pvp, bug

Working as intended.
This is my favourite conditions build for PvE, sPvP and WvWvW ( I’d switch a utility out for Spectral walk and swap some traits in like reaper’s protection for 20% faster marks depending on what you’re doing)

Brief tips:
This build gives good lifeforce generation with staff using marks. The staff should be your primary weapon most of the time. Use self control and save #4 on either sets for after you use BiP to transfer the self bleed’s. Make sure you are utilizing DS and don’t let it sit at full bar all the time. Use plague-form defensively most of the time. Try to let conditions stack on you before you transfer them or consume them – this comes with experience. Save your fear for when you really need to use it. Make sure you use corrupt boon smartly and don’t blow it on someone with just one boon.
You can also try using shamans amulet for more staying power and swap the sceptre sigil for agony one. Flesh golem elite works okay too for the knock-down but it dies pretty fast to aoe.

So, quickly, on the design philosophy at play here (you can feel free to disagree, but this is what I feel):
We want the Thief to be the class that most “slips through your fingers”. Other classes like the Ele and Mes have some of it too (and rightly so), but if anyone is escaping a fight, that should be a slippery Thief.
The Necro, on the other hand, should be the dude you CANNOT get away from. It’s an attrition based class, so the idea is that if you lock horns w/ a necro, know what you’re getting into: you’re fighting a class that’s built for attrition. It can dot you, dps you, rip your boons, and severely hinder your movement. AND it also has the ability to soak up a lot of damage. So the longer the fight goes, the stronger the Necro should get. That’s the idea behind Death Shroud, but little escape ability.
So we don’t want that attrition class to also have great ways to escape. This used to be the case, and we felt the Necro was just too strong if it was great at attrition as well as movement/escape. We wanted the Necro to be more about attrition, and for other classes (Thief, Ele, Mes) to be more about escaping and mobility.
Hope that makes sense.
Jon. I feel like the Necro is one of the easiest class to escape from. Have you ever played a Dagger/Dagger thief for example ? Because you are not going to get away from those guys. They have cripple, a leap, steal, plus all the utility’s that teleport them. If Necro should be the class you CANNOT get away from I feel like you guys really missed the mark here.
Why not a Superior Sigil of Corruption vs. a Minor Sigil of Corruption?
in Necromancer
Posted by: Whargoul.9613
I believe in spvp it’s only called minor sigil but in pve it is the superior. Yes, there is obviously a difference – which is the amount of condition damage increased per kill.
I think it’s absolutely pathetic that some people spent over $100 on keys ( I read some guy spent $350 rofl ) for a small chance at a video game weapon graphic. I think a lot of those people are just mad because they realised how utterly stupid they were for doing it. I also think that Anet could have provided some skins via the gem store and also had some others that were rare and only came from the chests.
For builds 30-20-20-0-0, 0-30-20-20-0 and 0-30-20-0-20 are good. Utilizing staff as primary weapon and your choice of utilitys
is there a new trait that allows you to go invisible everytime you heartseeker somebody?
cause someone from tarnished coast tagged to MOON, Serenity of the Night was able to go invis every time he did a heart seeker. If anyone from ANET is reading this please dont pretend you dont have a hacking problem. We need a better way of reporting these guys, All I could do was report him for botting, scamming.
How about you actually learn some game mechanics before you come calling people hackers. Heartseeker is a leap combo finisher and YES you can go invis with it using a smoke field – which Thieves have a bunch of. Hurrr Durrr!
Been playing in EB since it reset and man it been some great battles. FA almost lost it at the beginning but we took our towers back.. Lot’s of fun!
The Op is pretty spot on – I’m sorry that you naysayers aren’t very good at the class to play it to it’s full potential. You can find plenty of video’s around the web of Necro’s doing well in WvWvW Spvp and competitive tPvP. Oh yeah and one last thing – I kitten all over thieves 1 vs 1 with a rare few that give me a real good fight – but I do have an 80 thief I’ve pvped a ton with so I guess knowledge is power. Have fun!
A well played Necro is very powerful in PvP. Especially with all the Guardians running around. I think a lot of people are finally just realizing it or they just got better at playing the Necro (Because it does take a little more thought to play than a Thief or something). Anyway I played Necro in the BWE’s and loved it but I knew it need some work so I rolled a Thief when the game launched. Now that Anet has buffed the class a little and are fixing the bugs I ditched my Thief and made tmy Necro and it’s just so much more satisfying to play.
I mean kitten man, half the people here don’t even know what their own dang skills do. Now I completely understand why so many complain about the Necro.
It’s used as an interrupt – do you not understand the basic game mechanics?
I suggest staff – sceptre/dagger conditon damage build with 10 in curses 10 in Death Magic for larger marks. Use +conditon gear like ravager with Vit gems and vit/toughness accessory – get some cheap + condition dmg food too like veggie burger. Gather a bunch of mobs, throw down your marks and swap to sceptre and throw down your bleeds. You can probably take on 5 or more at a time and kill them quickly but I would start with 3 at once or something at first to get the hang of it.
My personal experience has been the opposite – I level as AoE wells and Conditions and chain pull mobs and herd them together and throw down all my marks and bleeds and I kill them all within 10 secs or less. I even kill 2-3 mobs 3-5 levels higher without trouble. I keep my gear updated every 5 levels with lots of condition damage, vitality and some toughness too. I don’t burst down a single target as fast but I’m throwing bleeds on the mobs and then engaging my next targets while the bleeds do their work.

I’m lovin my Necro – very powerful . The bugs are annoying but it’s a very strong class in pve and pvp. Sounds like you’re just not that great at playing the Necro and you should choose another class that is more your play-style. Necromancer isn’t the only class with bugs and isn’t the only thing that needs to be fixed in the game – they have been giving the class updates so I don’t know where your " they forgot about our class" mentality comes from. Good luck with whatever class you’re playing next.
Feast of Corruption doesn’t seem to be adding the 8% damage per condition for me. It’s always the base damage that’s listed on the tooltip even if I have 3-4 different types of conditions on the target. Is this happening for anyone else or am I just crazy?
Make condition’s able to crit.
I checked his video out. He uses pretty much the same exact build I made for myself in Spvp. I go with all venoms though including Ballisk. Works very well!
LOL! Vexus I laughed so hard reading your reply!
Total Barrage you should probably actually watch the video and learn the meaning of sarcasm before you post and avoid making yourself look like a complete utter fool next time.
What’s prime time for you guys? I either get insta queue or wait 10-15mins on HoD at 5-6pm CST so it can’t be as bad as you guys QQ about. The SBI and ET forum trolls make it out like we have so many players that we wait 3 hours in queue everytime- which is simply not the case in my experience. I have to wait maybe an hour on the weekends if im unlucky.
That definitely looks like classic speed hacking,
Well right off the bat here we see that his Mesmer buddy uses Mirror blade on you giving you stacks of vulnerability and granting might to the thief. We don’t know what buffs the thief had he could of had a lot of might or used assassins signet or buffs from steal using Thrill of crime trait or he had Executioner trait and you were at or below 50% HP giving him 20% boost to you. This thread is pure garbage.
What a sorry bunch of sore losers!
SBI and ET have been teaming up on HoD and still can’t topple them. Keep talking kitten because all’s fair in love and WvWvW ladies.
Hey Martym what gear stats are you using? I used knights amulet with zerker gem and divinity armor runes. For weapons I used force mh air offhand. I was pretty tough cookie with roughly 20k hp and all the stealth.
I wanted to add that I personally used Signet of Malice with this build and it worked really well with the daggers but I feel any of the heal skills work well with it.
Sounds like normal European gamer behaviour to me. If you are not a native from someone’s country prepare for the bigotry and hate.
I’m at a lost for words here dude…
Very constructive thread! ( Sarcasm for all thekitten#8217;s )
Well I tried your build in some random spvp but I adjusted it to my liking – I took infusion of shadow over master of deception. I used haste, blinding powder and shadow signet. I got A LOT of hate whispers using your build and it was pretty effective in quick join spvp. Anyway, if you could maybe make your build in one of the many fansite build editors and link it here that would be much easier to show everyone.
A venom share build is great in WvWvW as a support role. Pistol Whip build is awesome too if you aren’t a total noob and know when to use it and how to land it without missing or screwing yourself over. For myself I like to use a setup with all damage and mobility then pick off the people who run or stray too far from the zerg with S/P and engage the bigger groups with SB using hit and run tactics.
Melee on thief is prettykittengood. You shouldn’t be getting killed fast unless youre not using your abilities like dodge, stealth, blinds, daze … etc. We got tons of ways to mitigate damage. But if you just run up and spam without paying attention you’re gonna have a bad time when that champ one shots ya with his power attack.
Thank you for a beautiful and balanced game but... *edited by moderator. staff call-out*

I kill way more people with a S/P build anyway. If I play it right they aren’t able to escape my PW ethier.
No people started to learn how to counter and dodge it probably.
This is happening on NPC creatures just standing still.
After today’s nerf does anyone else notice that Heartseeker misses way too much? I will be in range of a stationary target and leap right on them and it misses about 40% of the time for no reason. I never noticed it missing this much before. Did they break the hit mechanic or something?
Noobs are still gonna cry about it no matter what. All the nerf really does is reinforce the proper usage of HS as a finisher. Pretty fair change to the skill in my opinion.
I used PP a lot ( tho atm im trying out D/P ). I figure it gets a bad rep because that Lowell guy from Super Squad said he didn’t like it because of other classes abilities to reflect projectiles in TPvP. So all the lemmings just assumed its bad. I think it could be tweaked a little more but Unload does some real good single target damage. Works really good in WvWvW for burst. That build you linked is kinda weird.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fYEQJAaVlYmaP3dS8E95Ex2DgqTe6zgsjt/AXB;TgAg0CnoqxUjoGbNuak1A – This build worked really well for me in WvWvW. I like to be in the front lines shooting em with my pistols and the 15 points in acrobatics, shadow refuge, 2 more dodges with withdraw and roll for initiative give a lot of survivability and let you fall back rather quickly. Shadow signet and Agility signet work really well too with the 25% run speed and agility signet use restores endurance giving you a ton of dodges on demand.

Shortbow is pretty amazing in WvWvW. I think thieves are amazing in WvWvW with the right tactics – lots of mobility to get in and get out. I like to use a pistol offhand on weapon swap for AoE blind and Shadow Refuge to stomp players safely and rez my team. Other than support I’m on the front lines killing and pushing people back – using my escapes to back off and heal up if I get low on HP.
Oh God Xavori! Common sense and intelligence does not belong here! Leave now! Lol
That’s easy Thedenofsin, don’t stand still like an idiot and let him beat on you. I understand you’re upset about heartseeker too – I saw your angry nerf post in the pvp thread.
I’m sorry, but your answer is woefully inadequate. Try again with a real solution to stop skillseeker spam. I’m sorry to say that your elite skills are neither skillful nor elite.
Maybe every professions should get invisibility or 5x dodges to avoid this one spammable ability.
The default dodge key is V btw and WASD to move – hope that helps you.
Let me explain something about how Heartseeker works: it auto-jumps to your opponent, regardless of where your opponent is. You see, that ‘WASD’ comment doesn’t work. Oddly enough, that “V” key only works twice in a row.
You’re just trolling now. Please stop unless you can provide constructive feedback.
Not true it certainly has a limited range – obviously it does jump to you if you stay within that range. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time with the skill but it is not as bad as you’re making it out to be. Perhaps with more gameplay experience you’ll understand.

Fateless, a Thief does not have 21 int like you somehow seem to think. At most he has 15 with the Trickery line. You can dodge, blind, stun, daze, use swiftness, confusion, cripple… etc to counter. Like I said before, you should take a step back a re-evaluate how you’re trying to fight.
