I did a hotjoin game today to do my Thief Winner pvp daily. It was 2v2 and the game had just started, I joined red making it 3v2. Not surprisingly we dominated, and not long after a player on blue quit, Making it 3 v 1. The game autobalanced the teams and it was 2v2. We continued to dominate and were winning 400 to 50 and I when both members of the blue team decided to leave. I was then autobalanced to the blue team and it was 1 v 1.
When the game ended I did not get credit for the daily since I “lost”. Could we possibly change the system that if you are winning by say.. 300 points and get FORCED to join the opposing team in the last minute of the game because the ENTIRE enemy team rage quits because you crushed them so badly that perhaps you would get credit for the “winner” daily?
Even Arenanet would probably agree that if you join a game, then capture and hold every single base and win every single fight you should get credit for your team winning.
I am having the same problem, for around a week i have been experiencing 1 to 10 second lag spikes, its most noticeable in dungeons. I am on blackgate server, live in Massachusetts and use Verizon Fios internet.
I had this problem about a year ago, I tried playing World of Tanks to see if it was my ISP causing the issue, wound up getting hooked on WoT and didn’t play Gw2 for 6 months. When I got back the lag was gone
.
Sorry Anet but that name isn’t going to hurt anyone. They made me rename my alt because I had the grossly inappropriate game ruining name of “King Jamie” after having it for over a year. Game breaking launch bugs are still going unaddressed. Great game, horribly managed.
Just killed colossus rumbus and never got the cut scene or reward for finishing the dungeon. This is getting old.
Twice last week I had to abandon AC path 2 because the final event wouldn’t start. Both times it was after someone died skipping trash on the way to the Ghost Eater’s room. My solution is to require 5k achievement points to join my group in AC2, which drastically improves the odds of a smooth run. There have been a lot of new players since the game went on sale, and as a result, lots of AC runs being abandoned. A shame.
Party leader would give all the power to 1 person instead of 2. Nothing has been done in 2 years to address this issue. Not only that, but they made the problem even worse because now when you get voted out at the end of a dungeon, you don’t even get the ground chests when you do it over again. A two votes and your out system shouldn’t even made it to launch. I see the same people in LFG day in and day out, its a dead feature.
This a great solution. Unfortunately we have the same ludicrous 2 votes and you are out system we had a launch. My party had to do AC path 2 twice because Detha decided not to start the last encounter, a bug that has been in the game since launch. I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
I’m standing here by Scholar Magg and the Magmacyte, my party has long since left. I tried waypointing, and killing every mob in the dungeon, crossing back and forth a dozen times, and still the waypoint will not open. I boycotted this path for a year because this would happen so often. I tried searching the forums to see if this is posted anywhere, sadly that doesn’t work either. So frustrated.

So if buying gold from those people spam me in whispers several times a day benefits Anet, the would explain why they don’t do anything to stop it. Maybe there is a legendary in the not to distant future.
One of my goals as a dungeon pugger is to join as a 5th man of a non English speaking guild run and not be kicked. Anyone ever pulled this off?
I don’t know why they would come out with dailies that put a spotlight on the fact that the escort events that haven’t worked since launch have still not been fixed.
I realize Arenanet employees don’t play Guild Wars 2, and I don’t blame them. However… Every day, for every character I log in, the same cut scene appears of Lion’s Arch being attacked.
Ordinarily the new “content” is easily avoided but this particular patch is being very intrusive. (I know the remaining fanboys will say “hit skip, its not hard”.) I don’t think Anet actually intended us to watch the cut scene 50 times. I realize bugs simply don’t get fixed so I don’t expect that to change, just next time please make your living story patch less of a nuisance. Thanks =).
Thanks, I found the new mystic forge at Vigil Keep, in the northeast corner of Gendarran Fields. Hopefully they don’t move it again.
I think we just have a different definition of new content. It is like if they asked Salvador Dali when he is making his next great work, and he informed everyone he was adding another clock to The Persistence of Memory, moving Swans Reflecting Elephants to a different museum, and destroying The Face of War.
Since there hasn’t been any new content whatsoever since november of 2012 when fractals came out, and the recent server lag has made the already clunky and unresponsive combat system unplayable, my guild wars 2 experience is pretty much logging on to do my dailies to get at that time gated ascended gear. One of my characters sits in front of the mystic forge as part of an effort to finish the dailies as quickly as possible. Unfortunately when I logged him today the mystic forge was destroyed and for some reason I was kicked out of LA and not able to waypoint back.
So I take it they are thinking outside the MMO box by not only never releasing any new zones to explore, they are now removing the existing ones?
1. Before instructions are given at the start players are not chained and can pick up items and attack other players.
2. Anyone killed during this time will not receive a chest at the end of the game.
3. Anyone running away from the camp in this time will stay chained for 1 hour or until killed, and also not receive a chest.
4. Players killed early in the game do not get the first stack of the hunger debuff, and do not receive a chest at the end of the game.
5. Players not getting hunger debuff at start of the game do not get credit towards games played achievement.
6. Players are not dropping their items when killed.
7. Players winning the game via points but not alive at the end of game get a normal chest.
Did I miss anything?
Its been 2 weeks since I’ve had a minimum of 260 ms of latency at all times of the day. Getting 30ms with World of Tanks. No other issues. I think this is the new normal.
I have 18 80s and I tried many different methods of leveling. You have to balance speed, cost, and fun.
The champion train in Queensdale is great at low levels, at level 5 you’ll be able to do enough damage to get gold every time with range dps. Once you get past level 30 though its not efficient at all to level this way, although if you give all your champ bags to a level 80 to open, you can make some coin this way.
Mapping zones, doing easy hearts and skillpoints, get all the waypoints while killing monsters that have high “exploration” bonus exp. How well this works is greatly dependent on your class. Warriors and guardians are very breezy since they can take a ton of damage but squishy classes like elementalists and mesmers will struggle. Gear your toon with as much power as possible, regardless. If you have a birthday bonus this is definately the way to go, focus on finding monsters with 3x+ bonus experience, i.e. monsters that haven’t been killed in an hour+.
Dungeon swapping. If you have a solid state hard drive(i.e. fast load screens) this is a very easy way to level up a character. If you do a lot of dungeons anyway, this is a no brainer. Wait until the last boss is nearly dead and switch to your alt, you get 70% of a level once everyone has skipped the cutscene. If you have a partner to hold the scene for you, you can kill the boss first, then swap. Make sure you don’t open the dungeon if you are going to do this, since it will kick everyone out and no one gets the reward. I find that Sorrow’s Embrace path 1 is the fastest dungeon for this, since its popular, takes about 10 minutes to complete, and is never contested. I play a guardian here to make sure the run is smooth. Even if you hit DR you still come out ahead at 35% per completion. No need to gear up the character, and lots of champion bags make this very profitable. This can get boring though.
Crafting. Definitely max cooking for 7 cheap levels. Will cost about 2g presently. I like to save this for the end, as it becomes pretty expensive to gear up your character in the 70s. Other crafting disciplines are considerably more expensive, 10-20g.
PvP. 1500 points and 20 silver gets you a level you can use whenever. This is the slowest method to leveling a character, but its there.
Why so many 80s? You’d be surprised how useful they can be. Say you want to farm dragonite, simply park an 80 at every boss and temple, open up Gw2stuff.com and see whats about to go down. No more showing up too late at events. Shuffle them around and you do the same event many times per day and still get the dragonite reward as the limit is once per toon per day. I also have 12 characters parked at the end of jumping puzzles so I can easily do the monthly.
I think people looking for endgame content are really looking for a challenge. There is little, if anything, I can’t do with my axe wielding warrior by simply running around pressing 1. In some extreme cases, i may be required to dodge. I can farm all the legendaries, get all of the achievements and titles and do all of the living story content that comes out. All you need is a high tolerance for boring, repetitive tasks to be a successful Guild Wars 2 player.
This is a very fun single player RPG. I really enjoyed leveling up to 80 with several different classes, the jumping puzzles are fun, exploring all the areas and finding all the vistas was rewarding. The personal story quests are interesting. However if you are itching to play a traditional Everquesty MMO this is not what you were looking for. The upcoming game Wildstar might be worth checking out.
It’s obviously supposed to be “your”, and the level of fanboy you have to be to try and defend this one is off the scale.
Since I really haven’t been able to play since last Thursday due to the skill lag, I’ve been reading a lot of threads concerning it. I have noticed a pattern among some users such as myself. What they all have in common is no other programs are effected, speed tests of all sorts come back fine, if they have someone else who plays on the same network, they are not affected. The lag shows up on the windows resource monitor at about 250-300 constant latency. Once it starts, its constant 24/7 latency every day.
The only logical explanation I can come up with is that certain MAC addresses are being throttled… for whatever reason. Prove me wrong.
Still having permanent skill lag since last Thursday. Read I should do this.

I have been experiencing serious lag issues for 3 straight days now. usually there is a second delay between pressing a button and something happening, also rubberbanding a lot, very frustrating, PVP is impossible, sometimes I experience 3-5 second spikes of lag where nothing happens, also affects party chat and browsing pvp servers. Everything outside of Guild Wars 2 works perfectly, browsing internet, streaming video, world of tanks etc. speed tests come back perfect, ping test to guildwars2.com at 58 ms. I live in Massachusetts and use Verizon FiOS and play on Blackgate server. Any help would be appreciated.
*update. My latency with Gw2.exe is about 300 in resource monitor. The other computer on my lan is not having the lag problem. I tried deleting Local.dat but it didn’t make any difference. The lag suddenly started while playing Sanctum Sprint.

All dungeons are level 80. There is absolutely no incentive to allow low level or inexperienced people into your dungeon group. I have 10k achievement points and I foolishly thought I could play my rare-geared level 40 elementalist in AC. After being voted out of 5 groups without being given a chance (the few that didn’t explicitly say level 80 required), and spending an hour trying to start my own group, I gave up. In guild wars 2, the less challenging something is, the more rewarding it is.
I just love when an idiot mesmer puts a useless portal in the middle of nowhere and is furious if you don’t use it, even when you make it no problem.
The reality is having a full set of ascended armor versus exotic gives you 14 power, 11 precision, and 1% crit damage, which is then scaled down in lower level dungeons making it even more trivial. A Plate of Steak and Asparagus costs under 1 silver and gives you 80 power and 60 precision, and the minority of players I see in dungeons will even use that.
Today in Eternal battlegrounds there was an upleveled commander going around building ballistas everywhere, wasting supplies, and leading unsuspecting groups of players into a large waiting group to be slaughtered, in an obvious and effective attempt to disrupt our efforts. Is it against the rules to purchase an extra copy of the game, choose an enemy server and intentionally sabotage a team this way? Should we report him for this, or start doing the same thing to them?

Pro tip: make an alt, put him at the end of a jumping puzzle, never worry about this daily again.
Well that’s twice I sat through the boring cutscenes and boring content with no credit for achievement. I’m really sick of this unplayable garbage they keep releasing, please fix the bugs that have plagued this game since day 1 and stop releasing HORRENDOUS content. Its been an entire year since the last time they have released any new content (fractals) that wasn’t atrocious! Please restore the old fractals, please delete that JOKE of a dungeon you put into TA (you can’t find a group to do it anyway since its so boring). and bring back Forward/Up, please put Kessex hills back the way it was so I can actual level there. Bring back sensible rewards for doing dynamic events so people actually bother doing them again. The developers are slowly dismantling this game and people are playing it less and less.
I was looking forward to this jumping puzzle. It is the JP where I really honed my jumping skills, and where you needed skills to finish it. Now I am posting this from the middle of the JP, in complete safety, whether you finish it in 2 minutes or 15 minutes doesn’t matter. Oh I just got kicked out for inactivity, yeah that makes sense /facepalm. Now whether you finish or not is about 30% rng, 60% depending if other people do the present stairs with you, 7% lag, and 3% skill. Please Anet, stop ruining existing content! At least now that I no longer do fractals because you completely ruined that, I have plenty of time to try to finish this JP daily.
I suffered through the fractal story mode (probably the worst dungeon I’ve done in any MMO), then did a full 4 fractal run, and STILL didn’t get credit for daily fractal runner. unbelievable.
Again Anet making existing content into unplayable garbage.
So I finally tried the tower after my guild told me horror stories about how bad this event is. Boy, they weren’t kidding. In 20 minutes I managed to clear my way up to a champion toxic damoss, still on the first floor. Apparently there is no way to continue without finishing the event. After waiting 45 minutes, finally another player showed up and asked if I wanted to try him. After being spammed with unavoidable attacks we quickly wiped. Maybe its possible if you kite him or something, but I am a berserker warrior and I don’t carry around a range weapon. Hopefully next content update will be something possible for me to participate in, or better yet, they could stop rushing out unplayable garbage content and fix the bugs that have been plaguing this game since launch.
I played a full 15 minute game of this and was the only one to finish it, so its not terribly easy, and I my troll senses are tingling.
Boy this dialogue is getting old sitting through over and over on the offhand chance the dungeon may not bug out on one of these many many attempts. 5 minutes of beta testing would have been nice.
*update. I waited about 10 seconds between throwing items, and just stopped whenever someone was talking and i finished this.

I have the same problem, I think its a server issue, because if I guest to Henge of Denravi all of a sudden I can see all the listings. I’m on Blackgate btw.
(edited by Xandror.2356)
Confirmed. I tested this with a powerful potion of sons of svanir potion with a level 15 son. I went from taking an average of 44 damage to 49, based on 20 hits without and with the potion.
Thank you very much for the tip about disabling right click. Yesterday was a good day, I managed to pug AC 1-3, SE 1+3, HOTW1, COE3, and TA up and forward without being kicked. Knock on wood.
I love dungeons but absolutely hate being in a guild, so I pug 100% of the time. I probably get kicked out of 5% the dungeon groups I don’t start. The typical scenario is I join a fractals 38 group LF1M, they are in the same guild, chat will be silent. The run will go smoothly but suddenly out of nowhere I’m looking at an LA loading screen. I assume there were only 4, but they wanted to get the run started before a 5th logged in. There is nothing the game to even discourage people from doing this.
Classic games were great in spite of their technical limitations. SAB is bad in spite of not having technical limitations.
If I join an Arah group via gw2lfg.com, its more likely than not that I will be kicked at the last boss so either their buddy gets in for the 3g, or they just sell the spot on gw2lfg for as much as 20g for people trying to get dungeon master. I gave up on Arah altogether because of the rampant exploitation of the kick option.
I am trying to get my Dungeon Master title. I join an Arah path 4 group. As we are about to pull the last boss, I am kicked from the group for no apparent reason. I go on GW2LFG and see the same person who started the group posted “selling seats to last boss of Arah path 4, 20g”. I already stopped doing Fractals because of similar issues. Requiring THREE votes to kick someone would help a lot, or put some sort of limit on how many kicks you an do. SOMETHING.
I bought this thing for the soul purpose of annoying people. Do you think I bought it to enjoy crappy 8-bit music for myself? I am devastated that no one but me can hear the thing. I feel ripped off!
I encountered a bug today where it would not let me release another hound after the original returned. Guesting let me get around this.
I didn’t know this too! I would have purchase two of the same like you..
Just to be clear, you can’t use two Ring of Red Death?
Correct, unless one is infused and one is not.
There are two rings for each stat distribution, so get a RRoD and a Crystalline Band ( I think that’s what it’s called)Seriously though… unique … It’s quite self explanatory. It’s unique, you can’t have another.
Its not self explanatory. Here is the dictionary defination for you.
Unique: Existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics: a unique copy of an ancient manuscript.
If it was “unique” there would be 1 ring in the entire game, there would not be a merchant selling thousands of them to every player in the game. There is no use of the word unique in real life of it meaning that you can own several of them, but only use 1 at a time.
I accidently bought two of the same 12000 btu air conditioner, they are unique so I can only plug 1 in at a time, said no one ever.
As it is one of the monthlies to kill WVW invaders this month, I thought I would give it a try. I found a commander on the map and sure enough there were about 30 people following him, so I figured I had a good chance. For 20 minutes we wandered around, sometimes just stood around waiting for more people to show up. Sometimes we slaughtered some NPCs for whatever reason. Just as I was nodding off from boredom, a large enemy force showed up. Finally, I thought, some action? But no, not really, we immediately ran away. Only the people caught off guard were slaughtered (such as myself, foolishly thinking a battle was in order).
I caught up to our force which was defending a castle. About 100 invaders came and again our guys just ran away, but I stood my ground. My framerate on my high-end PC reduced to about 5 fps and I noticed about a 2 second delay between what I was doing and what my character was doing. I Was killed in what seemed like slow motion.
I am a former WoW player, I held a gladiator title and also had the “Battlemaster” achievement, so I have done my share of pvp. In 1 hour of playing WvW I did not get a single kill for my monthly, nor did I experience a moment of enjoyment. In fact I have been gaming since 1980s, and this “World Versus World” is the worst PVP game I’ve ever played. From Atari’s Warlords in 1980, to Street Fighter, to Doom to WoW I’ve never experienced PVP that was so boring, so unbalanced. A game where you would not even see an enemy for 20 minutes. A game where skill doesn’t even have the slightest influence on the outcome. A game won by whatever side decides to show up, and has more tolerence for extremely boring grinds.
I could pay some real money and join the server that was on the winning end of this. I can’t imagine it being fun, outnumbering a team 3 to 1 that just runs away anyway, but at least I would get my monthly done. If a large fight did occur it would be so laggy and sluggish I could not see it being enjoyable on any level.
I’ll just leave this here.
The game they are describing is the opposite of GW2 in every way. My favorite quote was “As a structure the mmo has lost the ability to make the player feel like a hero, everybody around you is doing the same thing you are doing, the boss you just killed respawns 10 minutes later. It doesn’t care that I’m there”.
I could not help but remember the respawn timer on the Champion Cave Troll in Queensdale (which I had to kill 5 times per day for a month to get my ascended necklace) is 10 minutes.
Also the argument that its perfectly ok that Guild Wars 2 is the grindiest MMO in the history of the genre because they didn’t bother to make any challenging end game content that would require the gear you obtain from grinding is, well, kind of sad.

That is the same is handing my wife cash and telling her to buy herself some candy and a nice card.
All my slayer achievements were rolled back to 999/1000. What is annoying is I saved up 200g for the achievement, then spent it on a greatsaw skin and dyes. I don’t have 200g anymore, so I have to save it up again because Arenanet can’t/won’t fix or even acknowledge most of the bugs. I hope Wildstar is good.
So they come out with roses, a slam dunk for generating some much needed revenue for Arenanet. Problem? I can’t buy them for my sweetheart(s). They need to stop serving decaff over there.
