I have only recently returned to the game to prepare for Heart of Thorns.
Is there are number of hero points we should prepare for Heart of Thorns’ new features, assuming we already have every trait/skill in the training tab already in the current game.
there are a lot of critters or ambient creatures underwater. There are many of these areas on land with the most abundant critters/ambient creatures probably being in the Godslost Swamp area in Queensdale. I’m wondering where is the underwater version of an area like this.
Issue solved. Here was the response from reddit that helped me.
Have you finished your personal story? At one stage, I believe, you get offered one piece of T1 cultural armour as a reward for completing one of the missions. I have the chest skin unlocked for my sylvari but it didn’t count towards the collection total (i.e. after buying the other 5 pieces of T1 I’m still stuck at 5/18 instead of 6/18). I believe it’s a bug because you didn’t actually buy the armour from the armour specialist.
EDIT: Here you go. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Arborist_Coat_ Selecting the reward from your level 20 personal mission will unlock the skin but not give you progress for the collection (I’d say it’s the same for every race) so you should try buy the T1 chest skin from the armoursmith.
No I never purchased any with glory ever. Did not even know you could.
I understand for any particular race, you need 6 unique armor types (headgear, shoulders, chest, gloves, leggings, boots) from each tier for the complete 18/18.
Well I have checked more than a handful of times now with my Asuran Specialty Armors and I am still stuck at 17/18.
I have purchased:
Full T1 light armor set
Full T2 light armor set
T3 light helm/chest/legs/boots
T3 heavy shoulders/gloves
However, I am still at 17/18. Anyone know the issue here?

Hey Poitus. Thanks a lot for your input. Last night (sometime after 5:30pm AEDT when it was playable) Stupendous Man and I checked the IPs of our GW2 connections and they didn’t end in .117 and were more similar to those when it was unplayable. Just thought I’d update.

Ya Rangelost, as the others have pointed out, we are basically experiencing the same issues as mentioned in our other thread, albeit somewhat higher figures being from Australia – right down to the time frames of (un)playability.
Huge lags confirmed. The server likes to malfunction after 9 pm.
What timezone is that 9pm?
So today, as expected and consistent with every other day so far, unplayable during the day. Very similar results to Stupendous Man.
Here are the ping comparisons. The above readings are of today at around 11am AEDT where it was (and still is) unplayable. The bottom readings are of last night around 9pm AEDT where it was playable.

I have contacted my ISP (Telia Sonera), and reported the errors they have with one of the backbone-servers, the response was something like this:
We can see there is a problem, specified server is not responding to tracert/ping, but as you are a private person we can not do anything about it. Contact Ncsoft and tell them to contact us about the problem.That was 2 days ago, and I have contacted you (ncsoft) about it. So yes, there is something you can do from your side, as that is what Telia Sonera wants.
I and several other users get caught in the middle, with dc/lagspikes/cant login/can login but not choose character/map dont load etc.
Not all users write on forum, nor do they send in tickets. They simply do something else and hopes the problem goes away and that they can next day be able to play again, and hopefully for more then 8-10 min before dc.

Telia is a northern European telco company that operates there right? What I’m curious about is why I am connecting through there when I’m from Australia and playing on NA.
That last paragraph is very true.
So Stupendous Man and I had a chat in game for a while and it seems we are having very similar problems. It is simply unplayable (extreme lag/delays, rubber banding, blinking around) for us for most of the day, where the night seems to be ok. Both of us are getting a lot of packet loss with that pathping no matter the time – i.e. no matter if it is during the playable or unplayable period. It seems to be very consistent when the playable and unplayable periods are every day for the past 5 or so days since this has started happening. Poitus also receives similar packet loss yet has no lag whatsoever, so I’m beginning to believe the packet loss readings are not directly related to the issues.

A pathping isn’t the whole story but it’s usually very telling. In this case it’s possible the routers dropping pings are just de-prioritizing ICMP (ping) packets but usually it’s indicative of a problem, especially when seen on the link between hops.
Also, some packet loss is tolerated but it can cause lag and disconnects if it gets too high.
XeRauS, packet loss is amplified the further down the path you go so that could explain the loss between your ISP and Telia, but it could also be a real issue. I’d encourage you to contact you ISP about it and give them the pathping you provided here. I’ll see if we can do anything from our side.

Not sure if this will help or hinder, but it’s just more data for you both. I’m from East coast Australia, playing on NA. I’m also with TPG with the NBN (guessing you are based on the naming in the traceroute)? Could be wrong though. My NBN is the 100down/40up. Modem and router also one unit. [Edit: sorry – was 9am in the morning local time – if I’m on between 11 and 5pm I’ll run it again just out of interest].I ran this pathping WHILE playing – absolutely no lag at all while playing; did some heart quests in frostgorge etc. No skill lag, no movement lag at all.
I post it because I got NO lag while playing BUT had the same packet losses that you have.
Very interesting Poitus. I am with TPG also but only on ADSL (unlimited so there isn’t a cap or anything during the day). It has never been an issue though until just before xmas this year. As I mentioned I did do that pathping after 5pm which is when it becomes fine oddly and it still shows packet loss just as it would before 5pm. But then like you said, you have no lag whatsoever even with the packet loss. For me it is extremely odd, as the readings are the same yet it is unplayable before 5pm and it goes back to how it has always been for years after 5pm. I am uncertain when it becomes unplayable again in the middle of the night as I don’t stay up that late to find out. As I said the rest of my internet has no issues whatsoever.
Currently the issue still is occurring as I am trying to play right now at 12pm but simply using a skill like lightning flash is rubber banding me and everyone is blinking around.

Hello Brad. My modem and router are the same device. I have rebooted my modem and done speedtests etc and other areas of internet usage and everything else is perfectly fine.
So is there a possible explanation or cause as to why I’m losing so many packets once my connection tries to reach Telia? The ms increase is normal as I am playing from Australia.
I would like to add the most odd thing is the game is unplayable during the day but as soon as the time reaches around 5pm AEDT the game works as it used to again. This has been consistent for the past 4 days, where I have logged on around 11am AEDT and it remains unplayable til 5pm AEDT where it miraculously fixes itself. That pathping you requested of me was actually taken after 5pm that day where the game became playable again yet still yielded those results? This is ruining my GW2 experience as this is mainly the period I am able to play right now.

This started yesterday afternoon my time (AEDT) after the build update. This has never happened before. It was unplayable for that afternoon for 5 hrs. Then it became fine all of a sudden so I decided to hold off support. But today after logging on around the same time it has become unplayable again. My internet is totally fine after doing thorough testing/resetting. Everything else on my pc that uses the internet is working perfectly – it is just GW2 right now – which has worked fine for me for years til yesterday.
Right now I am experiencing overall game lag, along with rubber banding (especially when using mobility skills), general skill lag, and everyone around me – especially high population areas like WvW, is blinking around.
I have done a traceroute and it appears my connection is fine locally but as soon as I am entering Anet/NCSoft servers I am getting massive packet loss.
Any assistance as to the cause or solutions extremely appreciated.
Been wanting to ask this for a while. Why do you lose your bloodlust stack after entering water? Is this a bug or intended?

I used to be able to take screenshots as I see about 150 screenshots in my screens folder. However, now when I press print screen to take a screenshot, nothing is going in there.
Also even if I alt tab to paste it into paint or something, it is a screenshot of the desktop or whatever I alt tabbed to. I am playing full screen.
Anyone able to help rectify my issue?
Thanks for replies. Do you know where I can find a recent guide on S/D setup? D/D and Staff guides are plentiful but can’t seem to find a recent (post Sept patch) guide on S/D.
I haven’t played in a while and my first time with Ele but from what I briefly understand, D/D is the best for roaming and staff is best for zerg/large scale?
So my main question is are there any builds around the scepter with either dagger or focus in WvW?
Answering ‘they aren’t as viable as d/d and staff’ is acceptable btw, but I wish to know for sure.

Ok how about with wvw xp boosters and buffs – do they increase wvw xp gained from drinking liquid wvw xp potions etc?
I haven’t played in a while and am just wondering are drops of liquid karma (and its variants) affected by any boosters or buffs?

Right now certain exotic and ascended armor pieces have the exact same crit dmg (the zerker helm for eg), after the patch will the ascended have slightly higher ferocity than the exotic counterpart? I would like to assume so but wish to make sure.
Also a more general question, will a mix of valk gear still be viable post patch? Is valk gear being hit the hardest in terms of its value/setup of stats?
Will a valk armor mix still be viable post patch (is valk being hit the hardest by crit dmg nerf in its value/setup of stats?) or will it be better to balance a mix of soldiers and zerker/assassins?
Also what ascended stats would be best for shortbow? This is all assuming a power build obviously.
Just wondering about the two different Market Data displays. What’s the first (cheaper) one you see soon as you click the gem tab in TP supposed to be? Before you select which type of exchange you would like.
So do you unlock a skin forever by having it soulbound/account bound in some way or do you unlock everything that as soon as they arrive in your inventory? Aka things that are sellable.
All these changes are amazing! I love that transmutation stones will finally be useful and not having to use gems on lvl 80 items. We might even find more people going back and completing zones for the charges so a bit more life injected into the population of open world pve. Now just WvW account bound rank please.
Just wanted to add my internet is fine for all other activities. It’s just GW2 atm. I was experiencing lag spikes/rubberbanding/players blinking around/skill lag in PvE as well as WvW today.
Same here, getting unplayable bouts of lag, especially in WvW where it’s most noticeable.
It’s getting ridiculous to the point where I am right on top of them and then they appear 1500 yards away or I am at 100% hp then all of a sudden at 20% hp then dead.
Getting really frustrated here. I’ve reset everything on my end and this has never happened before, only started recently.
I heard back in November Anet was planning account wide wvw ranks. It has been a while now, is it still the plan? I hope so. If so is there a general ETA? I thought it would be implemented with the release of EOTM.

Is knights armor and a combo of valk and zerk trinkets ok? Also are centaur runes ok due to lack of general mobility. I play many classes and don’t have a main so traveler not an option.
But don’t most people stack quite a bit of toughness nowadays? Also with condition version you are able to do decent dmg (via conditions) while being in stealth no? Whereas with power most of your dmg must be dealt from out of stealth only and the niche of the PU build is being annoying and going in and out of stealth constantly is it not?
For the power build do people prefer torch offhand and 20/20/30/0/0 or pistol offhand with 10/20/30/10/0?
So wondering between the two builds/styles, both 20/20/30/0/0 with varying traits. The condi one with sceptor/torch and staff, and the power version with sword/torch and greatsword. Which tends to be more viable overall in wvw or pvp small scale battles? What are the main pros and cons of either? Cheers.

Been looking around the forums and some shatter builds don’t even include illusionary persona and some seem outright weird with trait choices. Does PU still > IP even in a shatter build? Hi. I’m looking for advice on what is the current meta for power and condition builds for WvW roaming/small group pvp. Also what kind of gear for both power and condition builds. What kind of weapon sets. Is it knights or soldier for power builds? Is it dire or rabid for condi builds? Cheers.
Hi, so leveling a thief currently and wondering what the best and most efficient way of leveling is. Is it s/p? d/p? d/d viable at all for leveling? Sb switch of course. Should I be going 20 into acrobatics for the extra initiative gain? Or should I just concentrate on critical strikes and deadly arts?
I find black powder and auto attack method quite boring to play. Is there an alternative to that playstyle while maintaining high dmg? Also spamming pistol whip is almost as boring. I just don’t want to be standing still so much as thief heh. I tried dual pistol for fun but dmg seems weak even with the 10% pistol dmg trait. I’ve never actually tried trickery line yet.
Also what is the ultimate end game pve gear/build for dmg? Zerker gear of course I’m assuming.

Yea I just need red for last few poi and vistas. So have to wait for the random off chance to complete world completion? I dunno how I feel about that.
So another week and same position. I am on JQ and the top 3 rankings don’t seem to change much. Does that mean we will be at the same position every week or will it ever randomise regardless of ranking per week?
The position is determined by the color, which is determined by which server is the strongest when the match ups are decided. Green is the highest rank, red is the lowest ranked.
Yes but how often do they refresh/reset the positions if the rankings never change.
Every Friday at 9 PM EST in North America.
So they are not dependent on ranking at all and simply randomise positions every week at that time?
How often do the positions change? Is it dependent on ranking? If the ranking never changes or resets then the positions stay the way they are forever? I just need one section of this battleground for 100% world completion but it’s impossible right now. How do I grab those last poi/vistas?
