I paid $10 and got the rest of the gems by transferring gold to gems – if you had sold them individually, you would have made $20 [Yes I had 1k gems, but I was saving them for a potential Draconis Mons pass which I no longer intend to buy]. Instead that $20 went to my friend in Indonesia trying to escape that country who who both needs AND deserves it, as opposed to just needing it.

I take back what I said earlier. Great deal you got going there. Three sickles for less than the cost of one, and all you had to do was consistently alienate a regular customer of your store to make that -$10 “profit”.

Agreed. There should be an option to buy each individual tool for 1000 gems, or even 1100 gems due to the extra utility/reward of said items. Those who want the package deal can pay for the package.

And no self-respecting consumer [maybe I’m alone in said title, and if so, then so be it] is going to feel comfortable rewarding seedy, self-destructive tactics like this with money. And yes they’re seedy, and at the very least self-destructive. Imagine if Apple made it so you had to buy an iPod, an iPad, and an iMac for $2k [a deal] and there was no option to buy an iPod for regular price? Apple wouldn’t make more money. Please offer the individual tools and a package deal like every other respectable business out there. That’s all the OP is asking for. Lava lounge has crafting and bank access, trading post, mystic forge, guild bank access, dungeon merchant and other merchants and a high spot to glide from. This spot has a ledge and a tree. It’s one thing to complain. It’s another to use inaccurate comparisons when trying to make your point.

Value is subjective. The Vantage Point is worth more to me than the Lava Lounge. Therefore the comparison was not inaccurate. It was only inaccurate according to how you define what is and isn’t valuable in your own mind.

And I got the Vantage Point, so I’m not complaining. In fact, since I created and thus partially own this thread, I’m asking for it to be deleted. [since changing the title to “please delete thread” apparently wasn’t enough] If someone else wants to complain, make your own thread. I’m not complaining, but I will if people try to drag down/diminish the happiness I just paid your company $40 for.

This patch is amazing and fun. I don’t really have any complaints.
I do have a suggestion, though – perhaps an asura gate from Southsun to Ember Bay? Or an option in the Lava Lounge to go back and forth between Southsun and Ember Bay? Those two islands complement each other in a few ways and it would be nice to have them paired up transportation-wise. Perhaps a nuhoch tunnel from the Ember Bay karka shore to the volcanic crater in Southsun, but instead its called a karka tunnel – just using the same mastery as the nuhoch tunnels? Or maybe have a lava tube that transports you back and forth between the karka shore in ember bay and the crater in southsun? Just throwing a few ideas out there to connect the two islands.

Its not an exploit. Its various in-game features being used together in order to make more gold by people that are smarter than you. Get over it.

Thief Elite Spec – Poltergeist.
Necromancer Elite Spec – Valkyrie.
Weapon: Longbow [or Shortbow for Necromancer]
Concept basically involves a spirit bow class similar to the Quincy of Bleach except using Ascalonian ghost-like abilities. Thief can have more stealth/teleportation-type abilities, whereas the necromancer can have more hailfire and vampiric attacks, with some skills summoning minions with bow strikes. Shouts can already breach walls with minions – imagine pointing your bow and causing minions to appear where it strikes.

A good way to introduce this would be with a return to Elona, and have it tie in with the Charr finally ridding themselves of the ghosts of Ascalon. Perhaps many of the ghosts decide that it was wrong/folly to invade and conquer what was once and rightfully the Charr’s land to begin with, and imbue Caithe or Marjory and the player character with enough power to fight Kralkatorrik – which is a fight the Ascalonians have been hindering with their little posthumous insurgency…

I actually like TD a lot, as I do the Gilded Hollow and other similar subterranean areas. I like TD a bit more because my one character who is a “shade” of her main form in Skyrim can fly around TD in the outfit displayed in the attached image, which makes for an awesome glow-fest. Her “main form” also flies around a lot as a cloud of bats in Blackreach, so TD is the second closest to a familiar subterranean hangout [closest being Gilded Hollow] that my main character in GW2 has. So while I do agree that learning it is a bit trickier than the average map, I would like to actually see more maps like TD just because I’m an exploration/glider/wanderlust freak. xD

In other words, now that I’ve given my own opinion on this, rest assured that you will never see another TD-like map again. You’re welcome.

Would be nice if there was a guide to finding them on dulfy, the wiki, the map, etc. Since some pretty obscure maps have them it seems like a safe assumption that major cities would have them, too – as implied by the Winter Quarterly Update trailer with gliders zooming – above – the palace in the center of Divinity’s Reach.

If someone could please tell me the location of the Divinity’s Reach and Hoelbrak jumping pads added with the Winter Quarterly Update this year, I’d greatly appreciate it. For some reason there’s nothing about it on the wiki – only a mention under the launch pad wiki page that “new ones were added”. If someone knows the location of at least those two, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ve already got 100% map completion and have scoured Divinity’s Reach for hours at a time repeatedly since the patch’s launch for it.

This isn’t World of Failcraft where the people in charge are going to just let you steal other people’s guilds [online digital/virtual property] just because you’re in it and the property owners aren’t “productive” enough for you. Last I checked, it was Activision/Blizzard that was run by the communist party-approved Tencent, not ArenaNet.

Make your own guild or join a different one. Stop wishing that Anet would help you steal other people’s stuff. That’s just plain sick…

I’m leaving Guild Wars 2 as I found a brand new game. It’s called Outside. Even though this is a Guild Wars 2 forum I’m sure everyone really wants to know about the details of my life.

So Outside. My first day.

The game is free to play, but OMG the Devs ding you with charges on everything. And there no waypoints. Right now I’m still on foot. I’m hoping for one of the mounts called a car, but the prices are outrageous.

One thing I’ve found is that there’s PvP in this game and if you gank someone you can loot their personal inventory. However all the PvEers get really upset when you gank There’s a guild (name of guild: The Police [GUNS]) that makes it their business to stop ganking and since they are max level with game store bought weapons, they’re a bit too strong for me to tackle. I’ll wait till later. Maybe I can find another guild that pvps against them.

Ok, I’ve found out that the endgame involves the permadeath of your char. You get moved to another server and all your gold and inventory is taken from you. There seems to be a lot of different servers. From what I can tell, you join a guild in this game and after you finish playing the game and are ready for the endgame, you move to that server. They all have guild houses called “churches” or “temples” depending on the guild.

Note: I’ve found out the Devs hold a real grudge in this game. Tick them off and you get sent at endgame to a server called Hell where the drops are awful and RNG is always against you.

Still on foot. This is ridiculous. I need gold for my car mount. I tried killing mobs but nothing drops from them. All sources of gold seems to be PvP related. I’m still to low level with only crappy noob weapons to do much. I guess I could try ganking someone to get their inventory loot…. This game badly needs a NPE to explain it and give rewards for leveling.

Hmmm. The Devs must have read my post about the bright graphics. They’ve removed that bright light and put in a much dimmer one. I’m not in favor. I can barely see anything. I’m walking around in the dark here. I supposed to pay for lights now with the nonexistent gold I’ve made? This is KITTENKITTEN!

Well, I’m logging out for a while. I might try it again later but for a f2p game, they have to many gamestore costs and I’m suspicious about the endgame.

I think you have a misconception about [GUNS]. That guild only pretends to stop ganking, when it reality its just centralized ganking, and if you trade the wrong thing to another player or do some other tedious thing this one guild called Government [RULE] (whose members are partially picked by two really-hypocritical but really-large guilds called Right-Wing [NATSOC] and Left-Wing [GLOBALSOC] ) doesn’t like, you also wind up getting [GUNS] after you.

There are a couple guilds trying to upend this system in favor of one where you can PvP people who try to take the stuff you earned in PvE, but they keep getting labeled crazy and evil and selfish and what have you.

And the worst part is that some of the people in guilds like [GUNS], [RULE], [NATSOC], and [GLOBALSOC] tend to either put CC conditions or endgame on so many players just trying to do PvE and enjoy as many game hours as possible – even targeting brand new players who haven’t even made it through the tutorial, which is being monopolized by those four guilds so that you are basically unable to play the game without being a member of one of them.

It really, really sucks, which is why I stick with Guild Wars 2, Skyrim, and my other games and do my best to ignore and avoid the vulgar cesspool that is Outside until enough PvErs level their “Intelligence”, “Wisdom”, “Basic Morality”, “Defiance”, “Honor”, “Self-Respect”, and “Courage” stats up enough to to help me PvP those four guilds of bullies into the endgame so we can PvE as we see fit in peace.

So as far as the “lesser of two evils” goes with this living world event called “Election” going on in one infamous server of Outside, I’ll be gaming instead of voting.
Because this game might be far from perfect, but its a heck of a lot better than the game Outside which I also call Idiocracy.

As far as the endgame goes, I’m not too worried about it for reasons I won’t get into.
But I certainly am going to put up a fight if one of those Devs tries to put me in Hell, since it seems that most of those Devs deserve to be in it far more than I do.

Edit: As far as those guilds I mentioned that are trying to upend that system, they’re also okay with mutual PvP [dueling] as well as defensive and retaliatory PvP. They’re just against initiatory PvP. So its a much fairer system that is set up quite similarly to Guild Wars 2’s WvW and PvP systems instead of one where all the PvPers basically gang up and farm PvErs and falsely label themselves “PvE protectors” to get a bunch of low-Intellect-stat PvErs to support them.

For making such an amazing game as Heart of Thorns.
Initially I was irritated with the CTD issue and the timing of the bat wings/glider release [well before the beginning of the month when I could afford to get it], but after the CTD issue was fixed with the 64 bit beta client, and after finally leveling my weaponsmithing to 500 and getting my first ascended greatsword, and after getting the bat wings/glider thanks to the generosity of a follower on Twitter, I must say that this is by far one of my favorite games, and comes close to Skyrim. After my hellish experience with Warlords of Draenor in WoW, I thank you for providing an amazing expansion that is well worth the $100 I spent on it. The lack of a monthly fee and the ability to glide around and have such awesome graphics makes it worth so much more than my active WoW sub, and makes it definitely worth the money I spent. So I just wanted to thank you. Thank you for taking the pro-customer direction than one of my former favorite games chose not to take. And feel free to ignore the jerks who sit there and say that HoT is crap. They’re probably a bunch of trolls from the WoW forums who think WoD was the best xpac ever, that adding back flying was a mistake, and that taking away the ability to use two handed weapons from frost death knights and generally waging war on their customers’ freedom of choice is a great idea. Obviously there are customer concerns that you shouldn’t ignore, esp for those still having trouble with CTD issues, but I just want to say that you are worlds ahead of Actiblizz and their masochistic playerbase, so don’t feel like you have to cater to those adult children in any way, shape, or form. Many who play this game do so to escape the CoD-level and Tumblr-level of intelligence, attitude, and maturity that exists in the WoW community, so by all means, please don’t give them reason to follow in the footsteps of genuine refugees like me. :P

tl;dr: Everything WoW can do, GW2 can do better. You can do anything better than them.

Everyone thought that WoW was going to get taken out by a competitor.
In the end, it simply committed suicide as soon as the first full-Activision xpac [Warlords of Draenor] came out. I’m sure as heck not touching Legion unless I want those demon wings for my D3 character from the deluxe edition.

As for GW2, obviously there are some things that would make the game more fun [gliding everywhere, mainly :P ], but even though I can’t mount up on a frost wyrm and suck a demon lord’s soul out after bashing his head in with a frosty sword, I can fly around Verdant Brink and Ley Line Confluence with a coldfire/spiritfire sword [Cobalt] as a freaking vampire lord and smack bad salads and chak in the face with a frosty, blue flame-covered greatsword – WHILE USING MUH FROST SHOUT LIKE IN SKYRIM o.o. While sucking their souls out, too. So yea. Each game has its place, but GW2 has never kittened me off as much as WoW has. GW2 has so much that WoW lacks, and it makes it a chore to log into WoW and an addiction to log into GW2 and fly around aimlessly with my fully-leveled gliding.

tl;dr: GW2 and gliding rules, WoW and their anti-consumerist crap drools.

Mage-like classes are technically far more advanced than classes with robots and mechs.
After all, Q from Star Trek and the ascended beings from Stargate were far more powerful than any army of stormtroopers, Klingons, Asgard, etc. Heck, even a low-level shinigami from Bleach could roflstomp some of the strongest sci-fi races.

Speaking of which, my cross-game character is fairly sci-fi. Basically treats the “magic” bit as latent ascended energy or psychic abilities or spirit abilities, depending on location and type of ability, and the Mists and other spirit planes as parallel/neighboring dimensions: https://twitter.com/Guardian_Nyx

But yea I concur that it would be nice to have some other sci-fi armor, too. I have no problem with all sorts of “immersion-breaking” things being added to the gem store so that people can pay for whatever type of immersion they want.

Putting my vote in to re-add the Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings. If you release it on Sept 1st I’ll happily shell out $10-$20 in gems for them. If you add the black feathery wings during this anniversary sale i’ll be equally happy, too. : 3

I think a better reason to push it sooner is to take advantage of Actiblizz’s suicide with regards to WoW and its childish, borderline-abusive treatment of its playerbase [especially pro-flyers].

Legion is being received with lackluster, esp since they’re going to be delaying flying -again. People there are turning the issue of flying into something resembling a political topic, and its total cancer. And don’t even get me started on the shipyard…

IMO, Guild Wars 2 has a chance to kill WoW with the Reaper Necro alone. That thing is beautiful. Add in the gliders – pseudo-flying in a game that was never expected to have ground mounts in it – along with a FAR more mature playerbase, and a more skill-oriented combat system, and FAR-superior graphics, and the Heart of Thorns expac may very well be a WoW killer – regardless of when it gets released.

So I take back what I said. Release it whenever you want. Whenever it gets released, WoW is going to die a well-earned death because of how it treated the majority of its customers. Like the petrol-dollar, its a ticking time bomb, with an end that is marked in time even more solidly than the events of history, but without a date.

You could casually release it months from now or tomorrow, and it would still be the final nail in the coffin for WoW. The nail would just be more painful for Actiblizz if you made sure that the expansion was fit for release. By all means, make it painful. They ruined one of my favorite games and one of my best coping skills, and put nothing but stress, misery, drama, cancer, and abuse in its place. I paid you $100. I did so to invest in the pleasure of both the upcoming expac, as well as the pleasure of revenge against Actiblizz for what they did to me and Warcraft. >:3

Hi, I recently made a beta character, only to find out that Colbalt seemed like it might be better to try out on my character for the reaper testing, but when I went to add it on my main toon, it didn’t show up in my beta character’s wardrobe. After speaking with another player and learning more, I found out that creating a new beta copies the contents of the bank, wardrobe, wallet, etc for the beta character. It was suggested that I delete the beta toon in order to reset the contents so that I may access + try out Colbalt, but instead when I made a new beta character, I was left with 8 transmutation charges and no Colbalt in wardrobe – it didn’t reset anything, and I had too few xmute charges to go back to where I was on the beta I had just deleted. I would greatly appreciate it if there was a way somehow to reset my current beta account settings so that I may start a new beta character completely fresh and enjoy this weekend of testing without any more unnecessary stress and disappointment.

Hi, I’ve enjoyed GW2 here for quite some time. I have to say, I really think this game is on the right track, and, in my opinion, is the best non-subscription MMO on the market[arguably the best MMO period, esp as far as graphics are concerned].

I only want to suggest adding two new features to calm anger + divisiveness between gamers + feminists, and to avoid any legal issues and unnecessary censorship:

-Expanding the ignore/block feature – This is a no-brainer. Most people laughed the whole " Twitter PTSD " issue right out of the park because there are no limits on how many people you can block on Twitter or FB. Plus, it just makes sense to give every user the ability to decide who they do + do not want to associate with. The overwhelming majority of people don’t even pay to use Twitter + FB. It just makes common sense to give people paying for access to a massively-multiplayer[social] game [even if its upfront and not monthly] the same privacy + account control capabilities they would have on the average social network.

-Making the undergarments toggle-able like the “mature language” filter, and adding more family control options – This one may make it tough on some salty-mouthed teens, but it would also be in line with how the majority of social network sites handle these issues. It would put the power of censorship in the hands of each user, and allow people who want to have topless equality in their media, or just want to run around actually naked in the game[e.g: diving areas – pixelated skinny dipping ftw], the freedom to do so without infringing on other users who would rather run around in more…modest…attire. If the ESRB gives you a hard time with this…well…you have a whole slew [ wayy more than just feminists] of aggressively-outspoken, passionate, and relentless individuals eager + ready to give them a hard time for you. :P

Again, I would readily condemn any action forcing these two suggestions on any person or company. I just feel that these are two very common sense + individual freedom-oriented ideas that could work very well in any massively-multiplayer game, that were worth sharing with other players + the game devs.

Not everyone who disagrees with your opinions is a white knight or a troll. Grow up out of your black and white world where everyone is wrong but you and learn to accept different points of view. Anet is not a multi-million cooporation. You must be thinking of NCsoft that does not do any developing. Anet is a 200-300 ppl company. Their resources are more limited..

And man this forum is amazingly poisonous….Guys if they do not delay the reward giving they will not be able to fix it as it will be impossible to track what is correct and what is wrong…That was probably the reason they could not solve season 1 issues. It is a good choice concerning the circumstances.
