What? First nothing to do with Tempest seconded ele has been strong and is far from garbage-tier. Thf with out stealth but with self heals and boons would work. If any thing ele or Tempest if they end up being a thf with out stealth could be better at playing a “thf hit and move” roll better then our thfs in game who are “hit and stealth.”
D/D Ele (and ONLY d/d) is strong now b/c it has good self-survivability and excellent support. Taking away that support, even with the benefit of better self-survival removes it from team viability, tbh (see: condi ranger, any other tank build).
Also, if you had a thief without stealth, without initiative to pick the most useful skill, without mobility as high (Anet has made it CLEAR nobody can challenge thief mobility), without a reliable ranged option (can’t swap to shortbow) and forced to deal with an attunement system, you get a CLEARLY inferior player competing for the same role. The key point is that attunement swaps only serve to lock you out of valuable skills and rotate CD’s, as opposed to initiative, which serves to allow you the ability to use the most applicable ability for any situation.
While I wasn’t focusing on stealth, the fact is that not only does stealth serve as a superior defense mechanism to boons for a bursty player, but it also provides superior support for such a role. Shadow refuge alone gives thief better team-support than the low-radius boons, projectile blocks, and spot-heals of a fresh-air ele combined.
If tempest is a bruiser (the only other option for a 100% melee spec), then it just competes with d/d for that same role, in which case it needs INSANE support capability to keep up with shoutbow and make up for the reduced options for d/d in arcana.

On the table.
Your old D/F guide was the reason I got into this class and in fact, this game.
Thanks for your help.
More ele D/F too, please! D/F is best ;3
Most people have one desire: Not to feel like they are bad or playing bad. That is why they come to these forums and ask advice.

My staff ele is probably my most damaging character. It kills things 10x faster than my other classes and you want to buff it?
LOL please do

Introduction
As most of you may already know, GWSCR.com has stopped working so record runs haven’t been updated for a while. DnT took the initiative to resurrect the project and after some discussion we decided it would be the best to host in on neutral site like gw2dungeons.net.
Goal of this topic is to discuss how this should be implemented and to voice any concerns.
My role
To keep things as neutral as possible and to avoid any drama/suspicion I have left rT. Also I won’t take part in any decisions about rules or records. What I do is run the site, update stuff, make sure everyone does their job properly and try to solve drama stuff.
Other roles
To keep rules updated we need someone to call meetings to decide and write updated rules.
As far as organizing rules updates, Debby and Menno from iV have been doing a good job with it. they have far more contacts than I do, especially with the smaller EU guilds who I have probably never interacted with.
Then we also need people to approve record runs (preferably not the guy who writes rules). I have no idea how many people are sufficient so suggestions are welcome. Also how record approval should work is up to debate. I would prefer approvers to have direct access to the record table so they can update it on their own. But gw2dungeons is static content so they would at least have to know how to use ftp and svn. Not a rocket science but if you have any trouble with microwaves… Another option is to for example entirely rely on me updating the site.
Suggested people: Ravi [DnT], Spoj [rT], Iris [Noob], Rising Dusk [VZ]
Record posting
I think the official forums should be used for record posting and any announcements. This means that there would be no separate forum for records. gw2dungeons would still be used to show the records.
gw2dungeons could have a record-applying form to inform us about a new record. I’m not sure if this is really needed though if approvers regularly use the official forums.
Other stuff
I will later make another topic to discuss about categories and what the site should actually have. I know you guys probably have all kind of ideas but please try to hold on them until we get basics settled.
Please discuss and ask any questions!

- 1. Introduction
I am dedicated to this class. I have been playing it since the release of GW2 and I intend to carry on for as long as it keeps entertaining me. The core concepts of this class fascinate me, so much that I can not have anywhere near as much fun playing other professions. The elementalist is a clever approach to the mage type class, differentiating itself from traditional role-play games’ designs by allowing you to master all four elements in a martial art fashion. It is a lot of fun to play, but it is also quite demanding. Being a good elementalist is not easy.
In this guide I will give you guidelines on how to achieve more with your character. It is important to understand that all I am going to talk about is only the “tip of the iceberg”. What makes you a good player is your knowledge of the skills, combat mechanics, team play, and content. A strong build is just a bit of help allowing you to shine brighter.
Therefore you need to train. Think of the elementalist profession as a martial art: it requires a lot of practice and discipline, but it will make you move mountains if you have the patience to learn. My advice to the new elementalists here is to take a moment before reading on. How familiar are you with this class? I believe you should acquire experience on your own before reading any guide. It is important to experiment by yourself: know no limits, try everything, have no fears. This is because advice is more easily assimilated if you have started come to the same conclusions intuitively, and because guides tend to blow away the magic of discovering the game at your own pace.
Designing a build for your character is not a straightforward process. A build is a response to a purpose: it allows you to better perform in what you want to do. However builds also influence your game-play by giving you additional mechanics to work with. This is why it is important to understand that each build is specific to its owner. We all have different play-styles, different team mates, and we face varying challenges according to the content we choose to tackle. So never follow a guide like a dredge: be conscious of what kind of player you are and of what you want to achieve.
In order for you to understand my builds, you need to understand my play-style. I play for the challenge. I look for high-risk/high-rewards and I want to be as efficient as possible. This has lead me to play high level fractals and difficult dungeons, always with groups sharing my philosophy. Together with my team mates we try to perform as well as we can, because we take our satisfaction from making “beautiful play”. Now let’s take a look at what this means in practice :)

This is clearly a ltp-issue to me
I think it’s more of a l2read issue.
So… I might be missing something here, but why is the screenshot of the elementalist relevant? Because as I understand it, the mesmer was not banned, but why did the GM come up to him and say “Legit” and then not ban him while he did go up to that elementalist and say “Legit” and then banned him?
“I’ll go ahead and supply the screenshot that the GM took in context of this text.”
This makes me think that both screenshots were taken at the same time which is of course not possible.
It’s just a conspiracy to cover up the board until we can’t open threads anymore due to all the stickies filling up the whole board.

If ANet selects, they’ll have to be prepared to weather a storm of criticism from the people who think they’re already out of touch with the community.
If you leave it up to a Forum “vote” here, then you will only be getting the opinion of the forum-goers. (Not to mention you will have to MANUALLY tally up the results, and many people will chime in multiple times. No control.)
As I suggested in the other thread:
During the Beta testing, we were given little in-game questionnaires to help you guys decide what people liked, and disliked, and what needed work. That seems like a good way to reach a nice, sizable spectrum of gamers. Do you think your little questionnaire program could be adapted to quiz the community on their desires?
You can control that each account gets to vote only ONE time. Offer a checklist of “hot topics” we’d like to see addressed. Your computers can quickly tally up what topics are the most important to the community as a whole, not just the forum-goers.
Easier. Faster. More representative.
love this suggestion.

But sure let’s write pages of feedback so at least you have something more organised to ignore!
It worked really well with the fractal CDI, after all.
Sorry, Regina. We’ve heard this before.
And also, changes to dungeons aren’t the most important thing. More dungeons are. This is the biggest problem with all these conversations. You folks at Anet keep thinking you can solve the problem by revisiting old content. Lots of us, at least, don’t think the problem can be solved that way.
I guess you could increase gold rewards on the ones people don’t do. At least maybe we could get more people willing to do more of the paths that way.

Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.

I predict an expansion’s worth of communication!
While that’s certainly something to look at in the future, we’re not working on it right now.
Burning speed. :<
So I want to preface this by saying the following:
I want FGS to be nerfed. It is too strong, and too composition-defining for PvE.
But what was presented in the Skill Bar episode just now (listed below)…
- FGS 4 deals 70% less damage with the trail
- FGS 4 deals 140% more damage with the hit
- Fire fields from FGS 4 / Burning Retreat cannot overlap
…is too much. This skill has essentially seen so much of a damage reduction that FGS is no longer viable as a form of DPS. Every single class’s optimal DPS rotation provides higher DPS than an FGS that does not have 4 as a usable DPS skill in any situation. I would much rather this skill be reduced in strength to the point where it provides an increase in DPS for the users, but not so significantly that it nullifies class value.
I think just having the fire fields not overlap would be sufficient for purposes of forcefully adjusting the PVE meta. In that regard, completely nullifying the trail damage is overkill. The buff to the hit from FGS 4 is nice and makes it as strong on-hit as the weakest eviscerate (still 40% weaker than the strongest eviscerate), but not enough considering what it does to the damage rotation of the FGS.
I propose that some damage return to the trail (ie. ~40%) so that the skill retains value for cases where its trail wasn’t used against the wall (ie. Tequatl / Triple Trouble) and can remain useful in those situations. At least this way the skill won’t be completely removed from play like it stands to be with all of the changes currently implemented.
In my experience in Solo queue, someone leaving and forcing a 5v4 happens considerably often, probably in a good quarter of the matches I play in. Firstly, this ruins the match for the team that faces an afk or a drop out, and secondly the team fighting against the undermanned team often loses a challenge and facerolls the enemy.
Honestly anet, if you truly are commited to making this game the MMO of e-sports, things like this cannot happen anymore. Its embarassing that you haven’t fixed this issue adequatedly by now. You should allow the ability for people to leave the match punishment free, and disable the match’s standing on rank/rewards when a 4v5 in a RANKED match occurs. Right now, when a 4v5 happens, I’m forced to stay in and try to ask the other side to have someone afk, or god forbid try to report someone whos name I can’t remember.
I know this issue has been berated to death, but it needs to be fixed, because it makes casual ranked matches a total joke.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various

We’re finally leaving Beta!
Patch notes from 28 May 2013:
- Spectators now see their target’s rank on the HUD.
Any more questions?
Where are you seeing rank as a spectator?
Where the experience bar is.
Thanks for reporting this issue. This is not the intended design!

Nerf modern healthcare. It clearly violates intended-by-the-developer laws of natural selection. Even the weakest can reproduce nowadays which ruines the balance and fun. Hurr.
Comes natural to think he is in their balance team…all honor and glory though!

Errrrr, the skill requires the condition that the boss stack at a wall to achieve maximum dps
I would say pve is more broken than this skill. The mob is basically too stupid to sidestep to side to avoid most of the damage,
after 2 years i can confidently predict upcoming elementalist balance
the flagship change will be a new elite
signet of inadequacy
Wasn’t elementalist supposed to do massive damage in a single spell or did you guys already forget?:P
