Hi!

My wife and I recently got back into GW2, we both played extensively but stopped in 2014. We have been playing through some of the HoT zones and leveling a Reverent. Right now we are both looking for a fun and active guild that does PvE stuff and can help us get acclimated to all the new stuff. Eventually I would like to get my necro who is 80 but needs specializations and some gear, WvW ready.

We are on the east coast U.S. and usually play in the evenings on week days and mornings on Saturday.

Hope to find a good home and thanks for your consideration!

Hi Guys,

Been away for awhile but coming back for the new WvW season. I took a glance at the patch notes and saw some big changes for us, some nerfs but whatever, warriors endure. That being said, I still want to use my axe but not sure how great it is anymore. Any weapon set suggestions and general advice for team WvW? Thanks!

So how do we all rate the end of LS season 1

You know a HM Zhatian would be pretty cool. As I was doing Marionette I thought this was how the assault on Arah event should be like. What if they offered a HM Arah assault which then opened up a HM Zhatian assault with airships and such.

I hope it’s hard, maybe not Tequatl hard but much more difficult than the current world events (Belth. might be the exception but it’s only a challenge because of a few bugs). There are many mechanics that can be changed to make the event more enjoyable and less of a hassle but I don’t see how you could make a balanced Open World boss that can be downed with only 20 people.

Some of the temples might be difficult with 20 or less people. But even on low pop servers I see them getting zerged, especially around prime time. In fact I can pretty much AFK all World Boss events and only have to TAB back for Lysaa, the Fire Elemental, and Flame Legion boss. On the high pop servers I can do this almost all the time.

Tequatl Walkthrough Warrior Class Video

in Players Helping Players

boondocksaint.6529

Hello Everyone! During the Christmas season there have been a lot of new players joining GWs in our guild and asking about Tequatl. I thought it would be helpful to put together a rough stratagy guide alone with a video. After the holidays I plan to put together a class guild for all classes but right now I just have the warrior. So without further delay here is a basic guide to Tequatl.

THE BASICS:

What is this event?

Tequatl is a world boss that can be found in SparkFly Fen, in Splinters Coast. Unlike other world bosses he is very challenging and you will not succeed without an organized group.

How do I find enough people to fight him?

Perhaps the most aggravating part is finding a group. Several servers organize daily Tequatl runs around reset time (4pm Pacific), but you often have to arrive early otherwise you will get sent into overflow. The Tequatl Slayers guild also kills him 3-5 times a day and has a good success rate. You can check their forums to see if they are recruiting. If you are curious as too when he spawns here is a timer that should help. http://us.gw2stuff.com/en

What do I need to do beforehand?

Even though there will be 80 to 100+ people fighting him every character counts. At the very least there are a few things that you should NOT do if you are new.

First, you need to be at least 80, will people notice? Probably not, but you will be hurting the group more than helping them. Second, as a newb make sure to equip your Power Toughness Vitality gear for this fight. You cannot land critical hits on Tequatl and conditions stack to their limit almost instantly. Lastly stock up on Undead Potions which can be purchased cheaply from the Trading post. Also buy some Fire Elemental powder found here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jhalles_Coalgrip after doing a small Dynamic Event. You will see when to use it in the video.

BUT BUT you mean my Zerker armor does not work here?

No Zerker armor is not very good against Tequatl, but is OK is you are defending the Turrets. As a new player you should remain in the zerg. As you get better you can switch to higher damaging armor but for now stick with PTV.

I am still so confused??

Get yourself familiar with the fight mechanics by visiting the wiki page. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tequatl_the_Sunless As you learn more about the fight you can volunteer to help defend or operate the turrets, but until you have done the fight at least once stick to being in the zerg. Also, listen to your commanders, they will help you know where to stand and what too do.

LAST FEW THINGS NOT COVERED IN VIDEO:

If you are double down, or dead, way-point immediately, there is one just to the north of the fight.

Support your group in anyway possible. Because you are stacking tight, AoE healing, blocking, and buff skills are very important.

During the defense phase, do NOT pull Undead near the laser or batteries, always fight away from them.

Good luck and send me a PM if you have any questions!

Warrior Specific Info:

Most people use Great-sword and Longbow/Rifle offhand. Great-sword is good melee damage and allows you to move back to the laser and batteries quickly. However, you will see me using Axe/War horn in video. The axe has comparable DPS and with the right traits War horn is a great support weapon for this fight. It help remove fear from your group quickly and gives people vigor for dodging wave and swiftness for getting back to batteries and lasers. I find this set better than GS but use what you like. As for LB or Rifle, both are fine, I prefer the Rifle because sometimes I need that extra range if our zerg is not getting cleansed and I need to back up a bit.

For utility skills I bring Healing Signet, it’s just really good for this fight, and usually bring banner of defense and strength. The only banner you should not bring is discipline. Finally you must bring Battle Standard as your elite for this fight. It is important because people will go down and this is one of the few ways to mass rez people.

Even after the hammer nerf warriors are very good in WvW right now. There are many builds that work well. We are one of the few (only?) classes that virtually all our weapons, main and offhand can have a valid build associated with them. I would say the weakest are mace main unless you are a hardcore dueling player and axe offhand which is meh but can still work sometimes.

So as others have said, find the weapons you really enjoy, (bring a great sword for mobility, you don’t have to use it) and have fun!

boondocksaint.6529

Hello Serv, I am going to try and help you. I mean really help you. Please do not take offense at this but from how you type your posts and respond to other posters I am going to guess you are in your early teen years. That is ok! You see I remember being there, only difference was I did not have forums and websites to post my bad opinions. So here we go are you ready?

1. Always spell check your posts, people will not take you seriously if you have grammar and spelling errors all over the place. Sure one or two may slip by from time to time but make that a rare occurrence.

2. Back up your statements or reasons why your are asking the question with, well reasons. Asking why the warrior is the weakest class without giving us explanations as too how/why you arrived at that conclusion is lazy and appears to the rest of us as a troll post.

3. Be concise, are we talking about warriors in general, in PvP, WvW etc. If able, show us examples of why you think and say the things you are thinking and saying.

4. Before even posting, and many people miss this, ask yourself, “Is it me?” Seriously, are the issues you are complaining about game related, or are they related to you, the latter being more likely.

5. Try to have a diverse enough experience of the game before you make strong statements. Scrolling through this thread it looks like you are speaking from a PvP perspective. Have you played other classes? Have you tried different builds? Have you tested Flavor of the month builds? Have you spoke to your guild about your class?

6. Lastly, don’t start flame wars with other posters. Ya some people can be jerks, ignore it and move on. Starting a flame war will not only defeat the purpose of the thread and most likely get it shut down, but will also waste your time and make you look immature.

Good luck.

Why do people think axe sucks?

in Warrior

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

I got an axe precursor and subsequently made it a legendary so I have been messing around with an axe main hand.

Here is the build that I am still working around with.

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8.0|7.5g.h4.g.5g.h17.d13.0.d13|2.5g.0.d13.0.0|1n.79.1n.79.1n.79.1n.79.1n.79.1c.79|2s.d13.21j.d13.31j.d17.2v.d13.3v.d17.2s.d13|k3a.0.u289.k69.0|2e.1|5x.6c.6h.6g.6m|e

First off this build is meant to run with zergs and is very tanky. You should always be on the front lines.

Because I am not running lemongrass I needed something for the conditions. Hoelbrak runes, Clensing Ire, Zerkers stance, and condition removal from warhorn have you covered (maybe too much but more on that in a sec.)

The axe chain does not have to hit the same person, with a bit of practice your chain should be able to land every time, though not on the same person. (Immobilize should be removed ASAP but with the runes and traits only long immobilizes are a threat.) What’s also nice is that during skill lag battles you still pack a punch with your main attack.

Your second ability helps recharge adrenaline and the third is just your basic cripple. Your warhorn is there to get you in and out of trouble. Don’t underestimate the weakness 5 provides if you get caught out of the zerg low on health and a thief begins his chain, it has saved my life and made me lol when I eviscerate him down. (Even with all the toughness eviscerate still hits for around 6-11k with a crit.)

Right now I feel I am sitting on too much toughness and may switch to more damage. As I mentioned, I also feel I have too much condition removal. I’ve considered dropping Zerkers stance for something else but have yet to find anything.

Another alternative was to take 10 out of defense and place it into Disciple, losing either balanced stance (no big deal I have 2 forms of stability) or Cleansing Ire and keeping my other condition removal. But the new patch will be buffing both armored attack and greater fortitude, give me 3% more life and 5% more power.

Anyways not saying its the best or most efficient but I really enjoy it. It allows me to survive in a zerg, help allies with conditions and boons and still do good damage.

EDIT: Saw that you use GS and secondary weapon. In my experience its a great mobility weapon, I always carry one, but is not that great in battles since your main source of damage is #2 which is easy to avoid. I have hammer right now only because it is the first ascended weapon I made but I think LB is a very valid secondary.

Axe Auto Chain

in Warrior

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

Axe is not that great in SPvP or small group WvW for the reasons mentioned above. But its a solid choice for PvE especially with mace offhand. I know there is a better thread around here but this one shows the axe dps compared to GS.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/80299-axemace-axeaxe-viability-against-generic-greatsword/

Basically axe has comparable dps assuming you can land all the hits while giving you the ability to move around as well.

In WvW its an interesting mainhand. I always try to stay away from FOTM builds and use different weapons and trits. With some help from the forums and practice, axe main can be devastating in zerg battles for a few reasons.

1. You have to remember that you do not need to land the axe chain on the same person, when you are in the thick of things and have stability on your chain will almost always finish, though rarely on the same person. This also comes in hand during skill lag battles, usually the auto attack is the only thing that works and you can still go to town.

2. AoE vulnerability and a nice way to charge adarline.

3. Kind of a meh cripple but a decent recharge. I would love to see this become a better gap closer.

Eviscerate has a very short range but packs such a punch people often time do not expect it and not a bad burst skill.

I’ll have to see have the hammer damage nerf affects me in WvW. I will be upgrading to my ascended hammer soon so that will help make up for some of the damaged lost. My guess is the control is still too good to pass up for zergs.

Also, for some reason I am excited about the buff to reckless dodge, mostly because of the near permanent vigor I have on my warrior.

The WvW Meta

in WvW

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

The requirement for each tick of Demolition Expert needs to be reduced so it’s easier to get credit. When you commonly run with a group or zerg of at least 10 (and usually several times that) it’s pretty much impossible to get in even a few hits with a ram or shots with a treb.

I’ve heard that even if you hit the door enough with your personal weapon you can get credit for DE. But I’ve totally unloaded on at least two dozen doors with my ranger (lvl 80, mostly beserker, exotic gear, ascended longbow) and only have 1/10 in Demolition Expert.

I started bring the rams for my zerg. I just told commander to not worry about rams and always provided at least one so I was guaranteed a spot on it. I have plenty from WvW and you can buy them for cheap.

I’m about 2/3s done with the meta should finish next week when I have more time to play. The only one I find to be a tad high is sentry. Mostly because it is so boring to take those point.s

Will Teq Scaling Happen?

in Living World

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

Guess I will throw in my 2 cents.

What I support:

Making the event more accessible without making it easier, scale, or instanced. I.E have a pre-event so server guilds and TTS can begin organizing for it instead of having to wait and hour or so.

Condensing the spawn window. He can have the same reset time but make the window be like 30-40 minutes rather than 1 hour+.

Continue to improve the event by fixing bugs and visuals (instant tidal wave, bone walls spawning when they shouldn’t instant death using teleport pad).

What I do not support:

Scaling to make him easier.

Instanced, I was pulling my hair out at the beginning trying to beat him. In the process of our first take down I met a lot of new people outside my guild, made friends who are very active in TTS . This was the first PvE event I went in expecting to fail and when we successed it was awesome. Usually we go into PvE events expecting to win and are angry or disappointed when we fail.

Making the event easier.

Teq. can be frustrating and difficult, but he is on of the best PvE events out there and I would support A-Net continue to buff/create bosses like this. On a side note, with you run with a guild like TTS you could potentially go AFK and let the group finish the event. Because of the nature and intensiveness of the event I have never considered doing that nor have I seen anyone do it.

Rifle is underpowered

in Warrior

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

I do love my LB in WvW but no the rifle is not under powered especially when you trait for it. It is a nice single party dps weapon that packs a punch from range.

Generally LB outshines it in WvW and PvE but there are a few instances where it is nice to have. In PvE its nice against single targets and you simply need the range. In Fractals you can stay out of the Fire shaman and Ascalon dudes Agony attacks and still hit pretty hard.

In GvG the sniper warrior is something guilds have been messing around with, sort of hanging on the edge of the group picking off weakened foes who stray to far from the group.

In SPvP, ya its not all that great.

In WvW, have you seen this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5FiSGEhyxM He was criting against normal 80 for 12 and 20k. Ya it is gimicy and he drops quick but its fun as hell to play and funny to land those snipes or group volly hits.

Anyways not saying rifle is as good as LB in most situation but it has its uses.

Melandru rune alternative for WvW?

in Warrior

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

I went with hoelbrak after kicking around the pros and cons of both. I am really happy I did. While you do not get the stun reduction with the fix to sigil of paralyzation its not that big of an issue anymore. With Dogged Mach, lemon grass, you still get 93% reduction in movement impairing conditions and 60% in all else. The turn around is you are much more offensively geared. As a warrior you will basically always have might on you so the increase to might is very nice too.

As I said, I changed my warrior completely over to WvW and general PvE so he cannot survive in high level FOTMs. Plus I want to do something different, the warrior is fun and all but I like to cycle through my other characters and have specific rolls for them. I would like my ele to be my FOTM runner.

EDIT: How is flame axe with the buff, is there any reason to bring that over LH?

Hi!

So I decided to take my main FOTM warrior and trip him out completely for WvW, this includes swapping out his AR for WvW buffs. The only other character I’ve taken into FOTM is my Elementalist who is around level 20 or so. (FOTM level). Because I have only be using him for sPvP lately I would like to make him my main sPvP and FOTM character.

What is the normal FOTM Elementalist build now a days? I plan on at least getting to the mid 30s. I have heard the D/D still works but others have suggested Septer/focus for team support and block, especially if you do not have a guardian in your party.

Any advice on traits, weapon set etc would be appreciated!

boondocksaint.6529

Hello and GL in WvW. First thing to realize is that there is no dedicated healing/support play style. You are still expected to keep yourself alive and bring some sort of damage or control to the table. Guardian is about as close as you can get to heal/support but they can still pack a punch.

First thing I would do is learn about blast finishers, the previous posters have talked about them, so learn how they function. If you are on a server that uses TS jump on and follow the commander and watch when and why he calls for water fields. Also check the class forums for specific builds.

As for the 3 classes you listed here is briefly what I know about them playing support.

Warrior: Shout healer, brings good offense and healing to zerg, banners are also a good option. Shouts are getting buffed today as well.

Ranger: Has a really great water field and support pets if you can keep them alive. Spirits are getting a health boost so maybe they will be viable in WvW as well.

Thief: Mostly through blind and AoE stealth. I am not sure the best way to play support as a thief in a zerg, they seem to fit better in small fights and skirmishes.

I agree that Axe is not the best zerg weapon but I feel bad not using my legendary in WvW I am hoping for an axe 4 and 5 buff in the next patch that will at least make it a good offhand.

Help with WvW Warrior Spec Axe

in Warrior

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

Hi!

I was hoping to get some advice on my new WvW build and any tweaks that you would recommend.

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8.0|7.1c.h4.g.1n.h17.0.0.0|2.1n.h17.0.0.0|1n.79.1n.79.1n.79.1n.79.1n.79.1n.79|2v.d13.2s.d13.31j.d17.21j.d13.1n.0.2s.d13|k3a.0.u289.k29.0|15.1|5x.69.6c.6g.6m|e

Goals and thought process:

I am a rank 92 warrior so I have decent experience in WvW. I mainly ran a shout heal support build, that was until I leveled up my guardian and realized how much better they were in the support category. I still loved my warrior but felt he needed a change. It was at this time I got really lucky and an axe precursor dropped for me. I now have my legendary and want some sort of axe build for WvW. My warrior is my front line zerger, not a roamer, not a solo character, a full fledged in your face zerger.

The must have and the why:

As I mentioned before, because I have the axe legendary I need that to be in at least one of my sets. Other then that I can basically change anything about this build. (Except backpiece too much effort to get ascended again.) I would really like your advice on the traits! I have considered dropping 20 from defense and placing them in discipline for more burst damage and the sharping Axe trait.

My condition removal relays on the war-horn , cleansing Ire, my runes, and lemongrass. My raw damage seems to be pretty decent but crit damage is low. I usually have fury on during battle so I crit. a lot. The toughness from Knights allows to survive up front. Hammer is there to disable and my main goal is to land the final axe hit on 3 people. The more I look at the build the more I think I can get away from using Last Stand since Doylak’s Signet provides another source of stability if I need it. FGJ seems a little weird in there without any shout traits but I relay on the fury.

So let me know what you think and if you have any advice

Thanks!

Ah, but they have these convenient transmutation stones for sale in the cash shop…

You can check my post history, I never complain, but this does kind of bug me. I got the armor stats I wanted and then transmuned them onto the skins I wanted. I did this for a few weapons too. Now ascended armor comes out and I will have to transmune the stats onto my skins again. That is 12 stones right there just for one character.

Make it easier ways to acquire the stones or allow ascended armor to freely be re-skinned one time.

Will you ever get your legendary?

Actually ya just got it last night No gems to gold and I purchased the precursor. Took a lot of patience, commitment and a 2 gold loan from my wife to finish off jewelry crafting that I forgot to level. The most difficult part is to not spend gold when you really want something else.

What helped was changing things up every time I played. I never get people who say I am not an XXX type of player. GWs offers so many different things to do. I would run a different dungeon every night, including the non-profitable paths. I would at least try the LS and if I did not like it move on, not come complain on the forums. I spend a few days doing Tequatal and Scarlett, but when that got boring I went to WvW. When that made me frustrated I went to SPvP with some OP build to make myself feel better. I would always do guild missions, unless I did not feel like it. I would switch to different characters and level them up just to change things up.

Point is, I actually enjoyed perusing my legendary because I never sat down and did just one thing, I took in the whole GWs experience. Sure if I farmed I could have done it much faster, but I am here to enjoy the game, both my goals and the journey toward them.

How Legendaries Should Have Been

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

I generally do not comment in threads like this because I don’t think they deserve the bump. But here we go.

First off your list to acquire a legendary is, at best, somewhat challenging.

Second, LWs are at a good place, not overly difficult so only the hard core can achieve them but still stand out for people who do acquire them. Can a casual player get them, yes but it will take a lot of time and you will have to be disciplined not to spend your gold on other things.

Third, when you post reasons like this write down the why without using words like "grind’ ‘gem store’ or casual. It helps to make the post more concise.

Forth, if you seriously think your ideas are good look at it from the prospective of a developer. Here is what you would see on the forums.

WTF A-Net legendaries are supposed to be legendary.
Why can’t I get the legendary the way I want to play?
Why do I have to grind all the world bosses just for a legendary?
My server sucks and I don’t want to guest because that’s cheating. I guess I will never complete the temple of Belthazar? O well guess I’ll go to the ELO then where they appreciate me.
Does A-Net hate its costumers? They make you do Fractals so they must?
Does A-Net discriminate against handicapped people? I am a vet that fought in 30 wars and lost my dexterity saving a puppy from a burning building. I can’t do jumping puzzles, guess A-Net does not want my business.
WvW Succcccckkkkkkkssssss! I hate you A-Net

Point is your suggestion was only looking at what would make it easier for you to get a legendary and not if that what was good for the game.

The best suggestion I ever read was someone saying there should be a set of difficult quests that go along with the lore of the weapon and that would take the place of one of the items you need to craft it.

Here is the thing, I totally agreed with you until I actually did a few Tequatal runs. The open world experience, good and bad, is something else. The biggest challenge for Tequatal is not the event difficulty but the mass about of coordination requriemt with totally random people.

You need to organize with HC guilds, noobs, small groups of people, people who may be AFK on turrets etc. It is downright stressful. But it makes the reward so much more meaningful. Yes there are a million issues with this encounter, but I have NEVER shouted and cheered with a bunch of random people in team chat for completing a PvE event like I did when we first took down Tequatal.

When you go into a raid with an organized group or guild, you expect victory and are disappointed/angry when you lose. This event you go into expecting to lose and if you win come out cheering and happy.

Just my 2 cents.

Is the rare version of PVT gear enough?

Rare P/V/T is ok but as others have said, Exotic P/V/T is very easy to acquire. Look at it this way, Zerker is the preferred choice for PvE but having a P/V/T set cannot hurt. If you ever decide to do WvW or if more content is released that requires P/V/T like Tequatal it will be nice to have. I say just get it and swap to it when you need too.

For the new Tequatal the absolute best armor is P/T/V. If you are defending turrets a middle of the road armor is good like P/T/P. Hell even condition duration builds are ok when you defend the lazer to spam weakness, cripples, and imm. and stun of the mobs.

Whoo! JQ just did it, was awesome and very organized. Got to admit, it was the most fun I’ve had in video games since I was a kid.

It’s artificial difficulty. It’s what an innovative design team has become after a year of trying to please everyone instead of sticking to their vision.

Incorrect, it now can actually be difficult. Before a handful of people could do the events without any chance of failure. Large groups could simply auto attack and ALT+Tab away for the event. The rewards were increased but now their is a chance to fail. This system should have been in place before the game launched.

Really? Because on my server, these “events” take five minutes if that and the heck with you if you didn’t get in a hit through the massive lag, no reward, they’re all farmed to death by massive zergs and no challenge at all.

All this is going to do is reward the zergs who swarm these events and take them down as quickly as they can. Trust me, on my server, you better be there for MAW because it’ll be over before the loading screen is done if you’re not.

Are you directing your response too me? Because it did not make much sense. One of the benefits of the bosses having more health is Maw and Wurm with not get destroyed before people arrive. I too am on a large server, JQ. While I have yet to experience new Tequatal but from what I’ve seen in the videos you can no longer just charge in and kill. The event requires coordination and teamwork.
I was not discussing the difficulty or lag or anything like that. I think a chance to fail (timer in this case) and added difficulty is a step in the right direction.

It is good they quit. Seriously, if a daily quest that is supposed be something enjoyable stresses them out they need to stop playing video games altogether and prioritize their lives. Such feeling are signs of a deeper problem, perhaps an addiction. Recommend they get help and allow the rest of us to enjoy the game.

I just started sPvP a few weeks ago after being a WvW player for months. I really enjoyed Skyhammer because of the ascetics and positional awareness. Can someone explain to me what some people do not like it?

For Event: Cool, I personally like the bi-monthly updates, allows me to break up my time between WvW, new PvE, some PvP and old content, keeping things fresh for me.

End of culling: Nice, for those who are complaining, I assume the PvE system will be similar to the WvW one that allows you to control character limits and what is rendered. I would guess that was what they were working on in respect to PvE culling.

One year anniversary: As a GW1 player I am disappointed that we are not getting random minis. That was always fun, the trading, collecting etc. But this is a different game and I’ll take the new content over a bunch of minis I guess.

Thanks for the help Titan, going to work on getting my crit damage up. @ Spill, don’t want to answer for Titan but remember we have very easy access to Fury so during battle we a 30% crit. chance is usually a 50% crit. chance unless we get the boon removed.

Thanks for the guide, this is very helpful! I like to run sword/axe and Hammer. I’ve tweaked my build around to achieve something similar to your last suggestion but cannot quit hit the crit. mark. I was curious what you think and if you had any suggestions.

This is mostly for zerg WvW and open field battles. The only think I do not want to change is using an axe somewhere in the build because it is my legendary! Other than that I have the gold to change armors, runes etc.
Thanks again for the advice.

EDIT: Guess I should link the build if I want some help.

I’d be more than happy to help you optimize your gear if you’d like. Simply post your build in a link below.

Opps was doing that post from a tablet and gave the wrong link. Here it is, thanks!

Double Axe Warriors?

Axe 4 is for fury maintenance and decent damage while axe 5 is adrenaline builder and zerg buster. Axe main hand is for raw damage and range cripple.

I personally prefer sword/axe, hammer. If you have a full adrenaline bar you can hit a pretty sick combo using axe 5. Earthshaker stun—swap to sword right away and you can pop flurry—-axe 5 to fill up adrenaline—-swap back to hammer and Earthshaker again.

Generally retaliation and knock downs keep you from doing the whole combo but it is so sweet when you finish the chain. One of the main reasons I use axe offhand.

Is it the same champions as earlier?

Wait, Champion rewards are limited to one time per day? That’s kind of crap, a Champion is a Champion, it should either have its reward or not.

I don’t agree with this – does it make sense to sit there and farm the troll for in Queensdale who spawns every 5 minutes for endless loot? Come on.

The Guandarran Fields Meta event spawns very frequently and has 5 champs during the chain + a chest. If they did not limit the champ. drops people would farm events like these endlessly.

I can confirm those stack. Though I believe the best xp food item is beet soup. When our server was doing really well right before reset we ran out into wvw and had a rotation of capping camps with the other team and killing wildlife. It was crazy, I gained like 4 level in just a few minutes.

Wvw proffesion for Zerg?

in WvW

Posted by: boondocksaint.6529

boondocksaint.6529

I have played every class in WvW and have 3 specifically geared for WvW, I mostly agree with Athers list. Here is my brief description of each class. List goes from worst to best in zerg and heavy siege situations only.

Ranger: The class is not bad but the mechanics are not the best for WvW. Rangers are decent brawlers and can be fun but just about everything the can offer to a zerg is covered by a class with more WvW utility. Have not played mine in WvW after patch so this all could have changed.

Thief: Thieves are great in WvW but their mechanic and abilities are far more useful in other areas of WvW. They are also terrible siege attackers and defenders, bringing almost nothing to the table. They are meant to be played as scouts, havoc groups and supply control. When a zerg slams into a tower or keep and wipes several defenders it is very helpful to send thieves to cut off the reinforcements rather than continue to siege.

Engineer: Aydens post was spot on with how the Engineer lacks synergy. He is a decent defender with grenades and has a lot of support abilities but he just seems to lack a group dynamic. On a side note, they are one of my favorites to play in WvW, despite their weaknesses.

Necros: Necros are great but are at the bottom of the top 5 because they have a very specific role in a zerg. The are the anti boon and control class in zergs. They destroy all the nasty boons on the other zerg and control movement with their marks. Once you reach a critical mass of Necros in WvW they become very difficult to deal with. Zergs that do not communicate get destroyed. They can drop conditions like crazy to.

Ele: With awesome combo fields and a huge amount of utility Eles could easily be the best class in WvW. They just offer so much and have 3 very different styles of play. The support staff, the D/D not as useful in siege but great in the field, and the blow the sh.. out of everything crit. staff. Not the best of the 3, but with a decent zerg to act as your meat shield 8k-9k crits with meteor shower is so sexy. I would say their biggest downside is they have a higher learning curve than most classes and lag really messes you up since you have 20 skills + utilities to work with to be effective. Basically, if you have a low end computer the Ele is the worst class for you.

Warriors: Even with the blind buff warriors are awesome. If you build a warrior ment to zerg you are an offensive powerhouse. This does not mean go full zerker, but learn how to control the battle field. Lemongrass and Melaundru Runes are almost mandatory but allow you to be nearly immune movement conditions with the right trait. Hammer, axe offhand, great sword, sword main, shield, and Longbow are the weapons I see most but nearly all their weapons have some usefulness in WvW. I have even seen the mace making a comeback.

Mesmer: What can I say, they can do everything. They are good at siege, defending, screwing with the enemy zerg. Even with the recent nerfs they are a powerhouse. They can also be very helpful at ripping boons and spreading nasty conditions. Lastly, their phantasm builds can make any melee rage. I would say their only down side is no easy access to swiftness and you have to follow a few specific builds to be as effective as I mentioned above.

Guardian: The guardian is the heart of the zerg. You can sway entire battles by spreading boons and removing conditions. After playing a guardian in WvW I realized how pointless my shout warrior was because guardians were so much better at support. They are also great at controlling the battlefield and shutting down melee trains. Lastly they still back a serious punch even with all their defensive capabilities.
