Why I hate to grind? well I also play a bit of Diablo3 (yes yes im a bad person or whatever) but the grind in that is horrible. Spend so much time killing and killing waiting for that thrill from the flash of orange that I get bored of waiting.

T1-3 should have better drop rates IMO and T6 are kitten rare, Ive not got a craft up to T6 stuff so I assume it follows prior lvls patterns.

I ran into a bug with the bosses too, different though and we managed to fix it ourselves. The Berzerker somehow ended up on the walkway you enter on. Except the walkway had retracted and was floating making them shockwaves. He managed to shadowstep out but still messed around with our plan to hit him first.

Might as well not play, about 3hrs in and I managed to finish the Vet Slayer one by accident. I love that Melandru event with the spider. I slowed down in the end as the next 2 can be done easily without forethought. Where as the JPs I do.

OP is 100% on point here.

Game developers solution for anything they deem a problem is nerf it into oblivion. This is not just limited to ArenaNet, it’s a prevalent practice in the whole gaming industry and I’m quite disappointed to see ArenaNet follow suit, considering GW2 is supposed to be about breaking the traditional MMO mold.

I agree nerfing isnt the only way, surely balancing involves bringing up the weaker stuff too.

The arguement that it shouldn’t be nerfed because if the player doesn’t attack he doesn’t receive damage is weak.

So what okay you stack confusion on him he cant attack without killing himself. So instead of attacking he turns to run while being gunned down instead lol.

Fail logic imo.

This I agree, Im starting to think some Mesmer players don’t want to be knocked off their pedestal.

Yeah I tend to mix and match, which is made easier thanks to the dyes. Ive planned on having my asuran engi with the T1 cultural helm skin with the CM set for the rest. Sure its not exactly mix and match but I liked the look of it.

Ive yet to try the other guild missions.

well, forget the number, but at least a ratio, otherwise seeing a 100% positive post is not the same as 68% positive 32% negative.

Still an Numerical value though, I might be naïve but I don’t think its right that some ideas rise to the top while others that might be equally good or better sink because a forumite doesn’t like it.

I agree. Ive been taking on vets 3-6lvls higher than me and winning… by the skin of my teeth sure but I still won. On some bosses maintaining a “pylon turn” around it while throwing nades is annoying. I kinda wish there was an option alongside throw/shoot/whatever at the mouse cursor, which would throw/shoot/whatever at the target automatically.

So much for intelligent debate.

While I love Dark Souls’ difficult gameplay, I don’t think it would work very well in an MMO. I’d love for a Dev team to come out and make one, just to see how it would turn out. Hell even to prove me wrong but I don’t think it would work with GW2’s combat.

A difficult MMO based on Dark Souls gameplay would be da bomb. Only thing that would be different would be keeping PvE and PvP separate, the only thing that I dislike about Dark Souls.

@daver, if buffing the weaker stuff would make the problem of, LFG ZERKERS ONLY ping GEAR, running CoF Path 1, 25times back to back, go away, then they would probably do it, but it wont, so buffing weaker stuff wont work.

So nerfing things into the ground is the way to go? ok that’s good….

…That was a poor excuse for a joke I know. Think my sarcastic side needs a nerf bat and Im being serious, lands me in trouble all the time.

daver.8324

Warriors lack a lot of sustainability (for guardian think regen, prot, aegis). Therefore lots of people go “kill or be killed” mentality. I’ve tried being tanky, I’ve tried being burst. Warrior burst is great. Our tankiness is, as odd is this seems, bursty too. We can take a lot at once (sheild block, endure pain) but can’t keep that defense sustained. You’d think if we can slap together that offensive burst and defensive burst we’d be great but we can’t, you get one or the other.
Until basic stuff like regen, protection, aegis boons come our way along with some other fixes keep to the guardian.

Don’t forget our Hp pool which outgrows a warriors heals by a lot, something like 30% of our HP every 25-30secs depending on the skill.

I personally don’t use it, but I have no issues with those who do, its almost like SF from GW1, we all seen it, some hated it some loved it, but ultimately, its going to get hit with the Anet Nerf Bat, and they will nerf it that bad that no one will use it.

Is Anet against buffing weaker stuff up to around the same lvl of the stronger stuff? All Ive seen them do so far is nerf.

The problem is that a lot of characters at low levels don’t have access to stability. Those are probably where most of the complaints are originating from due to their placement in the lower zones.

I really doubt level 80s are suffering from anything worse than annoyance. The monthly seems really tedious though. 150? I think I only have like 12 after so long. And I finished the monthly with other options in a few days.

When I was posting that about stability, I was thinking back when I first started 13-14days ago with no stability. I also don’t know how my lvl80 is affected by them as I tend to avoid those area, not purposefully.

I cant say I love this game because to be honest I don’t think ive played a game I don’t love and nothing beats FF7 for my #1 ( kitten rose tinted glasses and yes im one of those people)

Quite enjoying GW2 for the 13-14days ive been playing. The community is great ingame, especially considering theres PvP involved. Ive gotten used to PvPers throwing countless insults at PvEers. Here though? theres none of that.

One thing that brings it down a notch is the the grind for crafting mats. They seem to be pretty kitten uncommon and I cant tell if DR is kicking in. Ok so maybe theres 2 things, second thing is the DR, its making me fekking paranoid. Its bad enough in the dark I hallucinate Alma from FEAR in my peripheral vision. Sometimes when the drops are getting few and farther between I feel like quitting for a while so the DR can cool off. Things like that really boil my blood, its sort of gamebreaking in a way.

I totally support the fight against botters by the way but like this.

On my warrior Ive gone with berserker due to the fact ive got to contend with kill before I get killed playstyle it seems to have. Tried tanky and it just didn’t work out for me. On my Engi i’ll be going with traveller or that other condition/power that has the precision on it too, when I get that far.

On my Ele though i’ll go with whatever empowers the heals for group play and berserker when im going solo.

Periscope, sure. But it seems the molten mobs that spawn on some of them (from the looks of it, 3 of the 10 in each zone gets assigned said spawn each server restart) still have knockdown/launch/blowout. Never mind reports that some of the mobs spawned are overleveled for the zone.

Yeah, I think it only applies to to like lvl10 area and below, as Ive only dealt with the one in the charr starter zone. I don’t about the mobs that spawn as the knockdown didn’t make bother with them much.

Some of them have pretty poor placement, though on the other hand if you value immersion over gameplay it could be seen as good.

But like others have and will say pack a stability granting skill. Also you can dodge the wave and if you get close enough to smack it, you can circle it and it will mostly miss as it stops to shoot.

Ranger vs Thief

in Asura

Posted by: daver.8324

daver.8324

People say that thieves in dungeons are weak, but they usually do not know what they are talking about or have never played thief themselves and only seen bad ones. Thief is not the most straightforward class to play and one mistake will probably mean death. If it happens a lot this can of course be an annoyance to your teammates in PvE and lots of people mistake that for the class itself being weak when it is often a question of those playing the class who could use some more practice.

A thief can bring quite a lot to a dungeon. Shadow refuge can save others from death, you can resurrect people safely or you can use it as a combofield to gain life stealing etc.

In CoF part 1 and in CoE thieves can be very handy as well. You can just use shadowstep to get past the boulders and the security system fairly easily.

All in all it is a very fun class to play and my favorite by far. I also find it very satisfying to steal from warriors and return the 100blades. Ironically most of them don’t know how to dodge it.

I thought people would say its OP in dungeons not UP. When I get my usual group to do CM we usually try and get a thief in and use shadow refuge to bypass mobs we cant be bothered to fight. I personally only got a thief to lvl15 or so before I got bored (not particularly my playstyle) and made a warrior instead.

Let's put it to the vote

in Elementalist

Posted by: daver.8324

daver.8324

I think a lot of people get wrapped up in the weapon itself. I don’t think it really matters what the weapon is, the abilities attached to it are what’s important. I don’t know if you all noticed but the lightning whip ability doesn’t exactly resemble a dagger.

I think what everyone is really asking for is another set of combat options. Personally, I’m having trouble thinking of anything that could be added to the profession that hasn’t already been addressed in some manner by another weapon set. Perhaps a new weapon that combines the abilities of our other weapons? Could be over powered or laughably underpowered depending on how it was approached.

I don’t really care for ground targeted abilities, but I prefer long ranged weapons. So while I’m playing my elementalist I gravitate towards D/D because I despise ground targeting more than I mildly dislike close combat, but a new weapon with a skill set that combines the general theme of daggers with the range of a staff? That would be pretty cool, imo.

I pretty much agree with all you said, Im still trying to think of the abilities that come with a sword and pistol that are unique.

I think it also depends on the class. I’m pretty sure 99% of all high level Engineers run Supply Depot, because it is just plain better than the other options (barring racials).

I was on the wiki checking out the skills, when I saw mortar and thought “sounds like fun”. Then I scrolled down and saw the amount of bugs tied to it, after that I thought “better stick with the original plan and get supply drop”.
