Epex [Epx] is a guild, not even a week old, looking to expand into a top tier casual raiding and PVE guild for adults! We are currently looking for officer and raid lead positions to fill our ranks before expanding into recruiting and preparing for Heart of Thorns! If you are looking for an already bursting active guild we are currently not in that place. Instead we seek motivated and eager individuals ready to thrive in the GW2 raiding scene! Help Epex build!

Gametype: Epex will be doing PVE content including raiding, fractals and open world events! Our goal is to see the hardest content Guild Wars 2 has to offer in a fun and competitive environment.

Homeworld: Epex is currently a Tarnished Coast based guild but would love to include members of different servers. We are a North American EST guild with primarily English speakers! (Bonus points of you can serenade us in a Spanish classical song with a guitar. )

Playtimes: Raid times are currently undecided. In Epex you pop in when you can! Flexibility is key to a happy and active life style balancing work and play, and we play to have fun. We know moms play, we know dads play, we know very important business associates who are on call 24/7 play.

Guild Events: Our main priority is raiding! But Guild Wars 2 is a beautiful world to explore and every week Epex would love to dapple into an existing game map and play events. Whether that be running around in devestated Orr, the new and exciting jungles of Maguuma and the busy town districts of Cantha we will have fun! (Beer and drinking not mandatory, but encouraged!) We will also run dungeon competitions weekly to excel and practice with our main characters. Naked dungeons? Check. Three man dungeons? Check. Full profession party dungeons? Check. Guild missions will also be planned!

Since the spec patch, I have almost been exclusively warmed up to just using FT in almost all areas of the game…

Mortar nerf

So first off some questions:

What exactly about the damage was imbalanced?

For what game type was this imbalance present?

Second here is some input:

The mortar kit is exciting and brings flavor. It is our elite kit, and by nature, an elite ability should be exciting and meaningful. Up to the launch of the game, we have mostly used Supply Crate because of its immense utility with very niche situations for Elixir X. The Mortar was rarely used due to the fact that it had low health and was hard to place because it could easily be destroyed. That all said, we finally have an alternative to use an elite that has potential, and it should be encouraged for use rather than giving us reasons to not want to use it. As for it’s elite status, you can get far more damage out of the grenade auto attack (which is 3 blasts giving a chance for burning, bleeding and cripple each as well as 3x vulnerability)… It should be something that can be challenged with out elite slot.

In my couple of hours testing the Mortar elite, I personally felt the damage to be completely reasonable and justifiable. In WvW I was able to use it effectively against enemy zergs, however it was balanced because the radius of the projectile would only hit a few players and never usually the maximum of 5. In SPVP, it was and has been incredibly hard to successfully land the shots unless you are aiming directly at your feet in which case you wouldn’t want to be using the Mortar kit anyway. In PVE, the splash damage saw more targets and it felt great to use. However it still runs into the same issue where it can sometimes be hard to actually land the shot, which made it so that when you actually did land the shot and saw the damage you were excited by the numbers and it felt meaningful to use.

A % damage nerf is never fun. I’m not sure why the decision was made to nerf the ability but I feel like other alternatives would be better. Why not reducing the attack speed of instead of nerfing the Damage? Why not reduce the damage but as a trade off we get a faster projectile speed? When we get a new ability, its disheartening to see it be a pure numbers nerf rather than giving it a chance to still excel.

I like this, but with Thief main and Necro secondary, I’ve always been well off with Profession Ability 1 on my Mouse 4 (thumb) button. Guess I have a new excuse to get a better mouse.

F1 = Steal. Alt + F1 = F2 bind.

Hey guys, looking through the traits I see that bunker down is not a trait anymore (although it is mentioned in the trait line where Bunker Down gives med kits). It has been merged as some other functionality. Did they mention where it got put after the revamp? I may have missed it.

It wasn’t reset. The original title for killing Liadri was “Darkness Illuminator”, gave 20 AP and the mini. The new title is called Light’s Out, gives 5 AP and the title… I killed her last time and didn’t get credit for the new one. I wonder if the old achievement is available to people now….

You know, being a full time college student this game is starting to extremely upset me. There’s no chance for me to experience the content now, all because I am busy with life… Now I log in, see a whole list of shinny achievements and things to do, but guess what? Can’t do them unless I want to do meaningless daily quests. Also, because I don’t get to experience everything, the content update has no context for me and I have no idea what’s going on… Sure I can watch YouTube videos, but already the immersion died brutally.

I think its quite obvious that the people that have voiced against us in this thread are seeing this as a strictly pragmatic issue, where everything is based upon logic and principled views. Y u no buy another legendary? Y u caring about a shield in a game? This isn’t a pragmatic issue, it’s a massively multiplayer online roleplaing game. Its not supposed to be logical, no one would use hours in this game if it was all about logic. Pls go use ur logic on minecraft or chess, i think your superior mindpower would be better utilized there. Leave us alone with our illogical love for beautiful design and mesmerizing detals. You just dont get it, thats all.

As an engineer, I don’t need anymore slaps in the face for no reason thank you. I have a legendary and I love Flameseeker to death. However I never see it, but it doesn’t even matter because it doesn’t work with kits anyway.

16 Legendaries got updated to mostly increase their footfalls effects and make them flashier.

The ones that didn’t:

Twilight and Sunrise, because they were good enough and are.
Predator. because it doesn’t really need a change to its footfalls.
The underwater harpoon gun.
Flameseeker Prophecies, because it was “good enough” despite it having no footfalls or aura to speak of.

16 legendaries got update. All excepter the underwater harpoon gun, 2 greatwords, predator and Flameseeker. If you should complain about any of them, it’s Flameseeker that 1. doesn’t have footprints to begin with, and 2. has no aura.

Holding your breath that our transmuted legendaries ( which are now extoic quality from previous paragragh) will upgrade to ascended w/e stats they are transmuted on is as about as meaningful as the suckers keeping their legendaries in pvt mode thinking they will be able to choose w/e stats they want .000002%.

One of the reason I got FSP was because I wanted a more “epic” feeling legendary rather than a “joke” weapon. Quip is a cool pistol, and it’s definitely adorable on an asura (but like, what isn’t?), but it doesn’t fit my style.

And that, I think, is the problem – they simply ignore that one of their classes relies heavily on something that overrides their Legendaries (which require an extraordinary, concentrated effort to obtain at all), not that they bothered to give said class a fitting Legendary to begin with, instead having Joke Popgun, Holy Magic Shield, and Sci-Fi Sniper Rifle to pick from.

Yea, I was never in my right mind going to get Quip. As for Predator, why would I want to use a sniper rifle as a shotgun? That’s clearly aimed for warriors. As for Flameseeker, I love the shield and it’s lore, despite the fact it doesn’t suit me.

Honestly, I think instead of posting messages, we should go the traditional route: snail-mail objects that bring across a message. It’s obviously a bit more costly, but I believe the message would be more clear and “to the god dang point”.

I have at some point considered mailing ArenaNet an old “hobo-sack” that I got from my Marine Corp friends along with a multi-page letter printed single-spaced, 10 point, on legal-sized paper, complete with a dramatic reading of said message to those who prefer an audio version.

Well, maybe that could be borderline overkill, but something needs to be done.

Although, it may be possible that whomever designed the Flameseeker Prophecies is also very defensive about his/her design and doesn’t want other Anet artists to “destroy” it with more glitter and fluff.

Yes I can agree with that. It only proves however a very important question. Is Flameseeker the problem? Or Engineer design?

It is severely frustrating and I still can’t believe this broken aspect of the game is still around. They built the game around the very foundations of aesthetics, and are pretty much slapping us in the face with this whole situation.

Its not like we havent banged every door available for at least the removal of the freaking kit hobosacks.

I’m honestly not sure, we need to just keep pushing for our issue to be addressed by getting a response. I already posted this thread on reddit but it got lost in a sea of down votes of people not understand what the issue is. Probably a bunch of greatsword wielding guardians and warriors.

Yea that is a nice feature. But again leaves us at an aesthetic disadvantage due to bad implementation and design. Why should our experience be hindered because we chose the wrong character at the selection screen?! It shouldn’t, and I can’t believe it’s still the case…

So I just finished watching the live stream for the new crafting increase as well as the Legendary updates. As we all know already, engineers and legendaries are in a pitiful situation, and I thought they would actually take the time to address this with the new updates. Did they? Nope!

My main is an engie, my only 80 is an engie, all I play is my engie. I worked so hard to craft my Flameseeker Prophecies, and stuck through it through all the other players questioning/harassing me as to why I would even make that legendary as an engie. You don’t see anything from it through kits, there is no special effects with kits, there is no aura, no footprints, there is absolutely nothing… But I stuck with my decision and had hope.

I was looking forward to the update as I thought all my hard work would be worth something… But my hope went out the window.

This is extremely frustrating, and I’m pretty sure we are past due on this. I understand that some legendaries like the scepter needed that update, however I’m lost as to why Bitfrost and Sunrise got updated. To me, it was a slap in the face. Sure, FSP is a GREAT legendary when it’s wielded. But like, how can you justify keeping it the way it is when out of the 3 professions that can use it, 1 is the Engineer (who, mind you, has only 3 weapon choices to begin with and is almost always in kits).

I’m not one to rant, I’m not one to be upset about things. But this has honestly gone too far.

But seriously, changing the effects of legendaries is a two sided sword if you don’t give people the option to turn off those new effects. I crafted my shield because I liked it the way it is. I don’t want footsteps, I don’t want a bigger aura, I just want it the way it is.

I was just stating that he missed a legendary missing a unique aura/footsteps. It is a very elegant legendary as it is, however I know more people who want more effects rather than those who want to keep it the way it is.

As an engineer who get’s questioned daily for wielding The Flameseeker Prophecies I agree. Like it’s bad enough that ArenaNet doesn’t really care for fixing our endless problems, but the players harassing me for choosing a playstyle/skins because they know I already have a crap end of the stick as it is, is icing on the cake.

Hey Anet,

I am working my way towards the 5000 achievement point chest reward and am currently completing jumping puzzles. It’s been 3 times now that the end chest rewards contain a support token… First time it happened in the Branded Mine jumping puzzle, the second time it happened in the Chaos Crystal Cavern and the third time it happened in The Collapsed Observatory. They all reward a Grand Chest…

I plan to do some more jumping puzzles and will take a screenshot if it happens again… If anyone else is having this issue can you please reply to this thread!

Here is a video someone recorded of the event failing as soon as it is started. I really wish we can get a dev response on this. I finally gathered all I needed for the mystic clovers and now I need to get the Obsidian Shards.

I was there on my guard last night. It might be hard for others to tell, but there were only TWO veterans alive (around :45 sec in) when you see all the red circle AOEs on the ground in the video.

Meaning that you agree it is a bug? Or it’s intended and just insanely hard?

Some pretty interesting ideas here. I was actually spit-balling some ideas on how to address this today. This has always been something that has bothered me, too.

For example:

  • Have kits respect the existing back item flag. If you have a back item and you want to show it, hide the kit. If you don’t have a back item or choose to hide it, always show the kit. Obviously this makes it a little harder than usual to tell what kit you are using, so:
    • A nameplate icon similar to Elemental Attunements would be a good addition (I may add this regardless if we can get the art )
    • Move the kit somewhere else on your body. I know, crazy right? For example, who doesn’t like a sweet fanny-pack?

Hopefully this finally gets resolved soon, and I’ll do what I can to see that happen. Keep in mind, as Colin mentioned before, that there are some pretty beefy projects going on that are consuming our engineering time. But that doesn’t exactly mean we can’t sneak stuff in here and there .
