If you are upset about this endurance nerf, and didn’t see it coming, and didn’t learn to play anything else other than a spec that carries and takes little to no skill to use, then I am sorry for your loss and this utter inconvenience. :/ . Time to learn to play DA.

I really like the SoA buff. The fix to vault I will have to see the “fix” for myself. Atleast they didn’t hurt power Thief. my build survives balance patch.

Do you hear some voices in your head or what? I can’t get this “logical” chain after you stated I am upset with nerf?

BTW enurance does not refill after match begins atm. Hope they will not wait 6 monthes to fix it…

it looks like thief is the only class that got nerf in pvp… but what really kitten me off is that they even do not call it nerf. cos we got compensation “with extra utility and condition removals”. 3 instead 1 condi cleanse with 30sec cd. thant is compensation.

So wvw thieves got buffs and that is all I care about. More condi clear is always welcome. Want to play around with the vault and bound changes. Ghost/trap thieves buffed. CnD buff lol thats neat.

Question to you pvpers. Was acro staff really such a large issue for game balance, being that even #s fight role and does this fix it? I was under the impression that d/p was king of all thief roles for pvp.

Quality-of-life improvements and PvP health have been our focus for the thief, mainly for daredevil. As such, we’ll be looking to reduce endurance from a few different areas to target survivability through evasion but also compensate for it a bit with extra utility and condition removals

Infiltrator’s Strike: This skill has been unsplit from PvP and will now use a 900 maximum range. Immobilize duration has been increased from 1 second to 1.5 seconds game-wide.
Vault: The code functionality of this skill has been updated. The user will now more accurately travel to the targeted destination when under high-latency situations, in most scenarios. This skill is now affected by quickness. This skill now requires a line of sight to the target point in order to cast.
Bound: This trait will no longer trigger the damage and bonus portion if the dodge is canceled or interrupted.
Signet of Agility: The endurance gain from this skill has been reduced from 100 to 50 in PvP only.
Signet of Agility: Condition cleansing has been increased from 1 to 3 in all game modes.
Channeled Vigor: The endurance gain from this skill has been reduced from 25 to 20 per pulse in PvP only.
Hard to Catch: The internal cooldown on this trait has been increased from 30 seconds to 45 seconds in PvP only.
Upper Hand: The internal cooldown on this trait has been increased from 2 seconds to 3 seconds in PvP only.
Body Shot: The duration of immobilize inflicted by this skill has been increased from 1 second to 1.5 seconds in PvP only.
Cloak and Dagger: The vulnerability inflicted by this skill has been increased from 3 stacks to 5 stacks.
Assassin’s Signet: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 45 seconds to 40 seconds.
Needle Trap: The poison inflicted by this skill has been increased from 1 stack to 3 stacks.
Caltrops: The duration of bleeding inflicted by this skill has been increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds.
Tripwire: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 30 seconds to 25 seconds.

Arena Net should add Team Q only and Solo Only. So when TeamQ inevitably fails, people will not have to keep wondering why.

If they implement it without any proper incentives over solo queue then it will fail because people will not put in the extra work with no extra reward.

Personally, though I realize it will never happen, I feel unranked should be solo queue and ranked should be team queue. If you want to compete in, what I am assuming anet intends it to be, a competitive environment, then you should team up with 4 other players before queueing. And solo players won’t mind being limited to unranked, because every time someone talks about playing with a team of friends that’s where they tell them to go. So they seem to be cool with it already.

Oh, so now you want to basically replace soloq with teamq. How about that: they should make unranked teamq only. And remove any rewards from it. And teams won’t mind being limited to unranked because they have a possibility to compete hard and since there is no rewards they can be sure no pve plebs will disturb them.

Removing of teamq is one of the best things that happened with the game since pvp seasons were introduced.

The decay system is absolutely terrible. I was in gold t2-t3 having no difficulties with climbing to plat except the lack of time. 65% win rate. Then I got tired of grind and took a brake. With 700 decay I was placed in low bronze.

How do I ever supposed to play with those ppl?!! They don’t know how to rotate, they don’t know how to stomp. Enemies are bad as well, so I easy keep point 1vs2 but that does not help, they still losing rest two points. What the hell I am supposed to do to win such games? And on top of that I was losing 30+ rank points for every lost game.

What is the point of that kitten? Please explain me, cos I really don’t understand. Why this “deviation” ever exists? Do you really think someone can forget how to pvp after one week off or what? What is the logic of moving players to low tiers? If you are concerned about not playing ppl stacking in the ladder then just make decay impact on your ladder rank, not on your matchmaking!

So, you compare the most mobile class in the game with the less mobile, because they both have skill which can teleport? You could easily take away shadowstep from thieves and they would still be the most mobile class in the game.

So you say that theif does not deserve to have porting stunbreaker because it has high mobility? So moblity is some kind of class property which allows this class to live without stunbreakers?

The entire thread is a joke. Old, not fun joke. OP has many of them. And most of them are about thieves.

How can you ever equalize hambow with that thief build? Hambow warriors were literally everywhere and it was highly effective. While I’ve met like 3 or 4 dd condi thieves on the whole way from low bronze to high gold. And I’m sure these guys are autists. There is no way someone will play this build for a long time if he is not an autist. It is sooooooo boring. I don’t have right words to tell you how exactly boring it is.

The part about Pips is relevant only below ruby division. I don’t think any1 really cares about it. I don’t at all. Ppl who lose games to get a losing strike probably will stay where they are forever.

The OP is a troll from my point of view. Althouth I have win strikes most of the time, when it comes to defeat (and usually it’s 500-xx or 500-x games) there is nothing I can do.

Here is example of such game (happened about 7 wins ago). Legacy map, match begins, we play 1 close 4 mid. We meet 4 enemies on mid and how do you think what’s happened next? All the kitten 3 of my teammates ran after enemy’s ele to enemy gates, and was just trying to kitten kill him there leaving me with 3 foes on mid. I managed to keep alive about 30 sec and they still had not returned. I literally did not believe my eyes. How the kitten it’s ever possible in ranked games? Ofc I went AFK after that and did not even bother about the rest of the game.

So OP, what exactly do such games tell you about my skill lvl? Which true do they show?

Of course I don’t really complain about this matchmaking as long as I have 1 loss on about 7-10 wins. But all my losses are devastating and the most part of my wins has like 500-1xx or 500-2xx score or even 500-xx sometimes. I almost did not have any close games (2-3 may be).

Please fix my MMR.

Well, if you get triple class stacking on your team and no one of them switches to another class, you can be sure they are bad. Ofc they can be just stabborn, but more likely they are bad.

I had a lot of such situations in S1 (I got diamond eventually though). In S2 I have continued win strike thus far.

Druid AA is the only damage on the weapon while Ele does more damage with every other skill.

So? All these skills won’t help ele (and pretty much any other class) from being killed by druid. Druid is absolutely OP in 1vs1 atm. And I believe it will be nerfed eventually.

Atm druid is absolutely superior in 1vs1 PvP and counters thief 100:0. If OP is somehow (I don’t really know how it is possible anyway) losing to thief that just shows his skill lvl and nothing more.

regarding the next balance patch which is hopefully coming soon.. here are the most OP things listed:

reaper: deathly chill trait, nerf by 50% and ppl would still take it.. think that says it

scrapper: hammer damage coefficients and sustain..

daredevil: perma evade DD can still bunker against 5 players..
thief: dagger auto

ranger: bristleback and smokescale dmg
druid: glyph trait (planting seeds, especially the blind)
druid: ancient seeds trait: 10s cd passive pulsing immob.. increase cooldown

Usually I use DA/CS/Tr with S/P. Decent damage, plenty of evades with PW, alot of CC.

I also like DA/CS/DD build with Staff. It provides great AoE damage. But unfortunately this build does not offer any CC.

S/P without Tr is not an option for me, cos it has lack of ini. But DD is more useful for D/D build than Tr I guess.

I just repeat it again: if you die to any melee AA then you are really really bad on whatever class you play. Especially if you do it on the best 1vs1 class in the game (ranged btw).

If you don’t want to improve your play this is your problem. I only tried to show you some possible ways.

Try equip your char with some gear first. Armor, you know. Trinkets.

Then you should learn how to use you skills and utulities. If you can’t see any skills on your skill bar then you have to equip weapon first.

Then just practice.

Thieves don’n have 6k AA. They may have 6k AA chain on really glass builds. But if you eat the whole AA chain from thief that just means you are bad…

I played unranked during S1 couple of times and once we won with 3 thieves vs 0 thieves. It’s unranked, the things are goning on there have nothing to do with meta.

This is true; I’d forgotten to consider that possibility. However:

  • People are stubborn
  • They won’t necessarily know how to play a different build
  • They might not even know a different build
  • Players already like to have multiple characters of the same class with different builds on each for when they do need to switch, and preventing switching would prevent this. Allowing same-class character swaps would require a fair bit of designing and coding to work into what is already there, or, they would have to actually get around to build-templates (although, these are coming “soon,” right?)

We’re talking about class stacking problem in an attempt to make people happy… If you don’t want to be happy, then you don’t care for problems.

I don’t care about making ppl happy. I care about solving the problem which has explicite negative impact on PvP. There are always be ppl who like to switch and stack classes in itself and you can’t make them happy by removing that possibilty.

Besides the point, you actually have allot of mobility as a reaper, seeing as your number 2 skill on shroud, deathcharge i believe its called, has a cooldown of 6 and when traited 5. That mobility + chill is unkiteable by anything that isnt gated into the 2 traitlines.

And of course this part shows that you don’t play reaper.

I don’t advocate the balance, but if you have reapers on each point (means 3 reapers minimum team comp) then the best decision for you is to switch you class to one that don’t get hard countered by reapers. Like, you know, reapers did before the patch if they saw 2 eles on the oposite team.

For example if I have another thief on my team (I main thief btw) I’ll switch to another class, because 2 thieves on the same team = loss.

Any class has its weaknesses. Good DH on point = death for thief. Prepatch scrapper as well. Why do you think ele should be some kind of a special snowflake and counter any other class in the game?

The real thing anet must do is to forbid class stacking on one team. And it looks like they are not even going to do it.

I’m running 3750 armor and 21k health, mussels gnashblade for the 10% damage reduction and several sources of Protection and now instead of being able to beat thieves 1v1 and at least escape 2v1, I am down within seconds. It is exactly as described above; Basi, Steal, BS, AA a couple of times.

Utterly absurd damage increase.

Oh please, if a simple 30% buff to AA, during which thief can’t dodge or defend, moved you from the best 1vs1 class (druid) to outsiders, that is not thief’ problem. That just means you are bad palyer.

Really, I main squishy no toughness thief and I have absulutely no problem against other thieves in pvp. Just don’t let them AA you – the easiest thing ever.
