Yes, backporting is an issue. Died several times because of it.
I think Anet decided that if they place another thief nerf along with buffs for all other classes inside the same patchnotes, it would be too much. So they just buffed something useles. But next time they will feel free to nerf stealth or dodge again. Cos “YOU ALREADY THAT 5 SEC VENOM BUFF, WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED!!!111??”.
when you get tired of dire, you can try rampager. more difficult, but not so boring.
I decided to get 500 lvl at huntsman. But I can’t discover some recipes. For example I have 2 parts of torch, have exotic assassin’s insignia and enough of GoE. But I can’t combine them at crafting table for some reason.

I have both dire/perplexity set and dire/krait set. Perplexity is good for 1vs1 fights which are pretty seldom in www. And only if you had success with landing your steal/interrupt. My best result was 18 stacks of confusion. It was 2 seconds fight. But that does not mean that Condi Thief is OP. That just mean that all these ppl do not know how to fight against Condi Thief.
And of course 5 successful fights of 50 (like in OP video) do not mean that Condi Thief is OP.
I tried building my meditation guard to specifically counter condition builds, especially the thief one with pistol, with as much condition removal as possible on him, still every so called fight – if it could be called so – ended horribly for me with condition cleanses on cooldown. Nothing fun on even meeting these guys anymore, if I see a thief with condition food I just go away.
So I finally dragged myself to these forums to find the build they are using so I can level up at thief and see what it is all about, and I see this thread with a video where good players with high PvP ranks get wrecked without the thief even using weapons. I don’t know what to say… Profession Balance forum is full of thieves wanting nerfs to Rangers while they have this…
If you are like the guard in that video whose goal was to collect every single caltrops field he see, then nothing can help you, sorry.

…P/D is terrible in PvP.
The most popular builds are 26006 or 20066 using D/P or S/D respectively, with SB on swap. 26006 with S/D has gotten some attention, and, recently, 60206 with Panic Strike has become the flavor.

SA is in no way required in wvw. It is simply a less effective build than the trickery variant. If you think you need more condi clear beyond HiS and shadow step then I recommend you try altering your play style. Spend a few weeks in spvp and actually learn your class
Playing D/P in WvW has nothing to do with playing D/P in sPvP. Just as you won’t play x/6/6/x/x thief in sPvP be course it is absolutely useles while in WvW it’s more than fine.
I don’t say one can’t play trickery d/p in WvW. I even saw one video on youtube with trickery d/p. Everyone can play whatever he likes but one things are just a way more efficient than other.

D/P thief is perfectly viable without SA in WvW . Not everyone runs SA in WvW so the previous answers to the d/p vs s/d traited both aspect of the weapon set ( aka SA or trickery /crit strikes )

Well, I’ve used this cow bring down finisher for a long time. But cow is retired since I saw lama.
I play s/p in spvp. Skill interruption and aoe blind > boon stealing. imho.

Most of the builds in this game have counters, when the best counter to a thief is another thief then the class is inherently flawed (stealth).
who told this? l2p guys whining in every thread?
Here are some d/p thieves counters for instance:
1) d/d elem
2) some mesmers builds (not sure about which exactly – never played mesmer)
3) other d/p thieves
4) burst guards (didn’t see much of them since the last patch, mb they were nerfed, donno)
if talk about d/d thief then ANY class can counter it if he knows how to evade cnd.

And no to your request, 3s stability from a stolen ability from a steal that might not even land and clones usually deal with Aegis. You can also make a build focusing on destroying boons if it bothers you that much.
Maybe you never faced good thieves then, cause overall, thief is the hard-counter to mesmers at the moment.
Might not even land? Either that mesmer can dodge really good, or the thief is just failing to spam f1.

The stability and aegis are both not in the description, while the buffs are already long enough. The moment you think you can counter the thief by using I-wave when he uses his shadow refuge, it wont push him out cause he uses the cheap steal skill. The skill is already strong enough without it, why put both aegis and stability on it too? It’s not like mesmer gets stability from the signet of inspiration. It’s actually funny cause mesmer has almost 0 access to stability.Wrong. At equal skill levels, a mesmer should win.

The reason why thieves have a better game against mesmers is not because of consume plasma.

You do realize that the I wave doesn’t push us out because we dodge inside the refuge right? Not because we have stability.
A good mesmer will never make it so obvious when he will cast it. For example; you can precast it from range, teleport in/near the SR and even the best thief wont expect that to happen. Another thing is casting it from stealth. That’s only for if the thief can’t dodge or isn’t fast enough. Had enough times that in a 3v3 environment I could easily push the thief out cause of too much kitten going on. Skilled or not, dodging I-wave as thief against a mesmer who knows how to do it stealthy is pretty hard. That consume plasma just takes away all that skill in 1 push and granting another 6 boons of at least 10 seconds duration that can easily win you the fight.
so you state that theif using SR fighting against mesmer MUST be kicked out of SR circle, get revealed and get killed eventually, overwise it is disbalance, OP and omg not fair? nice.
IMHO the most efficient weapon set at WWW is still d/p. I mean small roaming.
if you run beserker equip (high crit chance) then I can propose the following:
classical 0/6/6/2/0 (I use fast movement in stealth instead of Power of Inertia), beserker + runes of strength, executioner trait, and food for 8% dmg while moving.
So you will get 7% from runes, 8% from food and 20% from executioner when you foe gets <50% HP. Furthermore you will get additional power from migth stacks.
p/d is good against bad or unexperienced players.
if someone complains about 5 stacks of bleeding from SR (60sec CD), which can be easely evaded, then I suggest that he is one of them.
or if he complains about improvisation trait which is not within any viable p/d condi meta. or about d/p in a p/d condi build (can’t even understand this part. 5 stacks of bleeding every 18 sec? OP, ofc).
I play s/p 2/6/0/0/6 and 90% of time I’m on sb. But if you use 2/0/0/6/6 build, I think sb is not an option because of low damage.
