I agree completely.
Speaking as a WvW player.
Dagger damage on autoattack is a joke, it crits 1.5k with full out berzerker gear. What the actual..?
The elite is a joke as well, damage of replicated attacks is too low. Either up the damage modifier or make it into a ammo system skill with 2 ammo.
Beastmode is mediocre at best. The skills are so freaking clunky and slow that it’s pointless since the enemy can dodge it with ease. Needs 1/2s cast and 600 radius.
Sigh.
I’ll be rolling something else as my main. This is just so underwhelming that it’s not worth my time.
The only reason GW2 WvW is still alive is cause there isn’t any alternative to it on the market. Which is sad on a whole new level since WvW in GW2 is utterly broken, dumbed down, forgotten for far too long and heading in the wrong direction with every patch.
Hello there! We are The Druid Alliance [TDA], a fun WvW guild located in the Desolation/Vabbi servers who consist purely out of druids and rangers. Currently there are around 10 people in the guild and we’re growing every day.
The guilds purpose is to have fun in WvW while playing together on our druids and rangers. We do closed havoc and bigger open raids.
There are no requirements currently other than being able to play druid or ranger and being on deso/vabbi. Maybe the ability of using TeamSpeak3 would be nice. You can play whatever build you enjoy the most, we don’t care. You don’t have to fully represent.

@ godz raiden OK I understand that as you run a thief that you’d like things to stay as they are, but honestly this needs to be toned down quite a bit. If it will do away with such “troll” builds as you call it, then fantastic, it shouldn’t touch your build then at all.
Also your remark about me “raging”.. seriously? Nice try though, maybe next time.
I posted this here and titled it as I did for a reason. No profession in the game should be able to be invisible for 90%+ time of a fight. If it kills anything or not, it’s over the top when it comes to stealth. And when you have more than one of these kind of builds together then yeah, good luck cleansing that condi spam from invisible enemies and good luck placing a stealth trap mid fight.
Hello, OP here. Well I’m not really surprised by some of you who still think that this is harmless and one can just run away from it in every situation. The thing is, the only way I was able to counter that guy was to spend currency for a stealth trap. So using any weapon or utility skills was rendered useless. Sic Em! is also completely useless in such a case, yet is supposed to be a counter to stealth, but hey, you need a target first…
Stealth needs to be toned down, it should be situational and limited.
Yet other classes keep getting nerfed… good stuff Anet.
It happened when I jumped into very shallow water for like 0.5s and it wanted to change to water weapon/skills but it didn’t have enough time. Happened like this for both the weapons and back item. It also happens sometimes that you can’t see yourself completely, but have yet to record it.
Here’s the video:

“COnfusion and torment are a combo meant to shutdown a character.”
This is exactly what’s wrong. The only thing that should shutdown a character is stun/daze and that’s it, and we all know how limited that is.
I know this will be an unpopular topic for people who run condition builds so bare with me please.
When it comes to conditions in pvp game modes confusion and torment are the two I dislike the most, simply cause they feel cheap and over the top compared to what they actually do in comparison to other conditions.
Basically what bugs me the most about these two is that they still have a DOT on them even though they have super strong active effects. It’s not about being able to cleanse them or not, or how many times it can be applied on certain builds.
Confusion should do one thing and one thing only, if you keep using your skills when you have it, you should get punished.
Torment should do one thing and one thing only, if you keep moving you’ll get punished.
It’s simple. But currently one gets punished twice with these two conditions, while all the other conditions mostly do one thing.
I don’t know, I might be in the wrong, but like I said they feel very cheap compared to other conditions and IMO, need their DOT removed.
It’s decent, but as a front line druid, I’m still wanting more from my own skills, the cooldowns are just too freaking long and I have to rely on many guards to keep me standing.
Other than that, fights have been less pirate-shipy which is good.
I love playing my druid I think it’s the most fun profession even with all it’s annoying little bugs and imperfections.
But the 2nd skill on staff – Astral Wisp must be the most useless skill in the game.
It’s damage is mediocre, cast time too long and in general hardly used by any druid worth his money.
So here’s a suggestion to make it decent. Make it a ground target AOE skill that hits up to 5 enemies and/or heals allies. Smack another extra 4s on the cool down and there you go, an awesome skill in any setting.
That is all, thank you for your time
Make #1 skill a channel with like 5-6 hits in 3s. Make #2 skill an AOE area skill that damages foes and heals allies. #3 is fine, #4 needs a faster cast time and wider spread, #5 is fine.
1. WvW population balance
2. WvW exclusive rewards
3. Class balance
4. Remove auto upgrades
5. Siege limit (harder to obtain and build)
Also… imagine… WvW Raid map… 100v100v100 + big boss in the middle that takes hours to kill. Endless fun. Add a daily respawn timer and you’re golden. The team that does the most damage gets the reward, ascended box, skins, gold, something like that.
If you want to put PVE in WvW so bad as you’ve shown us so far, than do this. Fighting + PVE = $$ for Anet.
I pretty much stopped playing GW2 since the start of december, I’m a WvW enthusiast. Anet lost me as a customer with their ignorance and lack of WvW updates and content. The stuff they did add is mostly terrible and not what the community wanted. I am already playing another freshly released indie game where I support the developers with my wallet and know that my opinion on their forums matters, furthermore players have direct access to real-time chat with the developers. Night and day compared to Anet.
There are so many things I wrote and deleted before this, from guilds forming alliances and having their own desert borderland with spvp style room lobby where other alliances can attack each other (imagine 200 alliances attacking whoever they choose), to trying to bring back some WvW players with old borderlands and weekly rewards, along with the idea of server mergers, megaservers, deleting eotm etc…
But what would my post actually achieve? There are no active devs reading this subforum looking for ideas to get inspired and create what the community wants. There is no communication with the WvW community. It would be SOOOO easy to make us feel appreciated, really… for instance:
Make an official post asking for WvW guilds to come talk to you guys in game or on TS or anything. It would take you 5 minutes to make a post and a couple of hours to talk with your community. And I’m not saying that you should invite a thousand people, invite a 30-40 each time, invite people who played the bejeezus out of WvW (people who have ultimate dominator, people who spent a gazillion supply). Invite WvW guild leaders and their captains, server community leaders (those who are lucky enough to have these people), in general people who are WvW players through and through.
You don’t have to promise us that you’ll add the things that would be brought up in those conversations. Just show us you care. Cause at this moment I feel like you’re showing me the middle finger.
And I’m not even angry, I still enjoy GW2 and I still enjoy WvW. But it makes me sad to see all this potential of pure and utter awesomeness go to waste day by day.
Cause lets face it, GW2 is 10 features away from making other mmos close shop if done right. But on the other hand it’s a triple A mmo title release away from being a game that we used to play.
When you output a lot of aoe regen that ticks 470 per second you don’t need to use CAF a lot, mostly on restacks and when the commander wants it. Teamwork and all that, you know. And I didn’t post the build cause it’s still being polished and I’ll be doing quite a few changes still, like for one; I have a bit too much toughness that I wan’t to convert into either healing power or power, still need to figure it out. Might end up going full celestial or something, don’t know, testing stuff and recording gameplay, it’s fun!
I’ve recorded some footage of blob fights and my Druid in the mids of them. Indeed it’s prefered to have a guard or two in the party but it’s not a must.
It’s a healing build so obviously I don’t do much damage but still manage to get quite a bit of loot.
Here’s the video:

Not posting a build yet cause it’s still not completely finished and will be tweaked a bit.
I’m using a Lenovo y510p with GT 755m SLI cards, both work under the 32bit client (and everywhere else) but in the 64bit client it just uses the first card.
Yes I’ve added the 64bit client to nvidia control panel and enabled SLI there, but it just won’t work.
GWEN this GWEN that, while Rangers are dropping each one of them in zerg fights one by one. You can deal out 100k damage to 10 people and drop none as an Ele or Necro, or you can deal 50k damage to 3 and drop 3 as a Ranger. Dead people don’t do damage.
Meanwhile a staff elementalist acts as a rallybot more than any other profession. Dead people don’t do damage.
Also, I’ve yet to hear a commander say on TS: “kitten , I’m getting focused by a guardian..”
And any decent WvW veteran who didn’t farm their ranks in EOTM will tell you that Rangers are a force not to be ignored.
Seems like Hitsuke and Shoe are the only ones that see the full picture about the Ranger in WvW in this thread.
“Sicarius.4639 What did you do there better than any other class?”
A lot of things actually. I didn’t die, I dropped a lot of people, I finished downed players for us to rally, I gave out a considerable amount of fury to tanky classes who generally don’t have high crit chance, I blasted water fields, I covered our flank, I hard CC’d portal bombs and prevented them to push us from behind.
Look how many times their zerg simply HAD TO stop their push cause I unloaded my RF into the front of them hitting their main melee train with high burst damage, or how many times I prevented them from restacking with muddy terrain and entangle… Stability isn’t worth much when you’re immobilized without condi clear.
You can hate Rangers as much as you like and try to put them down with every chance you get. But it won’t change the fact that they are WvW superstars if you look closely without being biased.
@Rizo: Are you serious? We were heavily outnumbered in all of those fights and we won all of them. You didn’t see organized groups? How about those two 35+ guild raids that kept fighting us AT THE SAME TIME..?
And ofc I didn’t get focused much, cause I positioned myself in such a way that it would be suicide for them to do it.
@Justine: I used to main a semi-glass guardian for zerging, I know how it is, trust me.
Rangers being a leecher? Did you even watch the video?
There’s no pleasing everyone, I know that, but some of you seem to be really kitten about a Ranger doing good, as if you can’t fathom that it actually can do good. Sad.
And about the pets dying; sure they die sometimes, but 90% of the time they are alive.
Again, positioning is key, and not pushing towards the enemy like Johnny Rambo all the time (as you can see at 10:40 in the video I posted). But even then, it seems like 3 people can’t take a glass Ranger down with heavy focus.
Ranger is a WvW superstar, an unsung hero and one of the professions people can still play with pride.
I uploaded a video of last nights WvW action. A little bit of everything: open field, chokes, being focused, pushing towards zerg, mid zerg fights… Hope this will shut some of you up with your “rallybot” & “lootbag” BS. Play it smart and you do well.
Enjoy.

I can’t say I didn’t expect at least a few replies from people who have no clue how to effectively play a ranger in zerg fights, or think their build is superior to any other.
Oh and Rizo, I’ve checked some of your posts, including:
“Played Ranger for 3 years…
But only few months ago, i have understood, WHY i lay ranger!
Because i love to reed forum, where some rangers CRY, how hard their life and other topics, where mesmers, warriors, Guardians, d/d Eles and thiefs cry about how OP rangers are.
I love it really much!
That’s why i play ranger!”
Your plan B if Druid sucks?
in Ranger
Posted by: Rizo.9534
Yeah… ^^
To really understand Rangers as a viable zerg superstar contenders one must first understand the basics of zerg combat. Gone are the days of simply doing the “stack, veil push, bomb, restack” (although it still works), since today we can see a myriad of other tactics that win fights. And the Ranger plays a big part in all of this.
I will break things down into 3 groups: support, damage, survivability.
1. Support:
Rangers can be a great support class even when running completely glass builds thanks to their pets.
- 2 blasts on short cooldowns (Call of the wild from horn & trait)
- AoE fury, might, regen, swiftness (horn, shouts, F2 skills)
- AoE spike healing (traited pet F2, water field blasting, fern hound)
- AoE CC: knockback (line), muddy terrain immo, entangle immo, pet F2 immo & fear, AoE chill with Winter’s bite when traited
2. Damage:
Sure rangers are not the most prolific of AoE damage dealers compared to Elementalists or Necromancers, but they can hold their own in most situations when positioned correctly.
- Massive AoE spike (line) from Rapid fire, Barrage on chokes, auto attack on #1 axe etc.
- Good for focused damage, pushing flanks, covering backline
- Very good sustained range AoE (line) damage in any situation when positioned correctly
3. Survivability:
Most of the people will simply say Rangers are easy pickings, but that seriously is not the case. Again, positioning is key as a good Ranger must know and predict what to do in all situations.
- Signet of stone, we all know this gem with 6s damage invul 64s CD traited.
- Lightning reflexes, one of the best skills a ranger has
- Traited with condition removal on survival skills a Ranger can remove a lot of conditions while still being useful with the skills used to do this
-
A good Ranger can turn the tide of battle by either focused damage on target (preventing pushes by focusing commander), hard CCing 10 enemy players in chokes (yes, 10) and overall being supportive to the zerg with useful boons.
One can argue that certain other professions can do all of this by being better at it, but I simply can’t agree. A Ranger played right is one of the most important elements of the zerg and one of those professions that is always forgotten and taken for granted.
This is my build that works perfectly in WvW zerg fights:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNBjODbkQFaZxOWwhFoaxAhQ5vet31bpHAVdPvrQMcxKnMB-TFCBABQt/Qlq/cmSQsU+JxkittennAQe6GY4gAEAABYn7MdWnBIFATCjA-w
This is not very good gameplay tbh, sorry.
This is one of the most terrible ideas I’ve read on this forum.
I was shocked to see that as well, simply wow. It’s like they don’t listen to the community at all, or they listen to those players (streamers etc) who were also invited to test the new map first (half of which are not even true wvw players).
If any dev is reading this, please please please make some kind of effort to get the real feedback from people who play your game almost exclusively for WvW.
When they remove the points system from WvW, then nightcaping will no longer matter. The point system is just bad in every aspect and is no indication of who’s the better server. Just remove it and make it that player kills count with outnumbered buff giving double. Would negate a lot of the annoying karma train BS and actually make people fight instead of running away, this is open world pvp after all!
None of the specializations interest me, had high hopes for druid (as I main a ranger) but that went down the drain. Also, I’m a WvW player and we’ll be getting the new borderland map for free so I have no need to buy it.
Might get it when it’s less than 20€, but right now there is no way I’m paying 45€ for what has been presented to us so far.
Same here. Just lost interest, somehow this was the last straw for me.

I am shocked at the “basic” HoT pre-purchase offering. I did not see this one coming at all.
Only thing that “makes sense” is the Ultimate edition, kinda. But still, it begs the question… Why in the world would you pre-purchase something when half of the content is still yet to be revealed? Sure you can argue that you’re a hardcore fan and you don’t care, that’s fine by me, but most of us must be scratching our heads right now.
When GW2 was offered as a pre-purchase you knew all about the professions, mechanics etc. while now with an EXPANSION we know maybe half. And the most insane thing about it, Anet wants 45€ for it (yes it includes the game, but we already have that don’t we?). Pricing is off, timing is off and I think Anet showed us their true face once again. I am disappointed, but I’ll just wait it out and see if they can man up and fix their mistake.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind it. Now all we need is content where it will be required to use one (except WvW to an extent), maybe the AI rework will change things in dungeons and events so a healer will be important. We’ll see.
I hope this stays as a feature since stealth in GW2 is broken in so many ways.
I got this whisper from a hambow warrior (yes hambow in wvw ^^) who tried to tag our guild group from behind thinking he was John Rambo. It’s sad.
That awkward moment when people like that hambow pretend to know what Rangers skills are and give the wrong number.
The complaint is on Rapid Fire which is skill 2 not skill 1
But this has been addressed numerous times and the thought of these threads make me want to stab a new born quaggan in front of its mother.
ill take my infraction now moderator -_-
Actually I crit him 3,5k with my #1 skill, he remembered to dodge half way through my RF burst Thing is, he tried to run from me and he got destroyed. Never bring a hambow build to an open field fight vs. a zerker LB ranger.
It’s amusing watching people defend 3k auto attacks from 1500 range.
It’s also amusing watching people defend: stealth, condi spam, perma stun, 10k+ backstabs, warriors who move like the Flash, perplexity builds… you name it.
Every profession is good at something, some are even good at multiple things. So I don’t really understand all the complaining about RANGErs doing damage from afar.
If it’s such an issue for you just build to counter it, I had to modify my ranger build to counter thieves and mesmers (mostly cause of their stealth), and by modify I mean use different utility skills to keep me alive while I nuke their kitten from long range or up close.
Identify your weakness and improve on it.
I got this whisper from a hambow warrior (yes hambow in wvw ^^) who tried to tag our guild group from behind thinking he was John Rambo. It’s sad.
I agree with changing guardian shield skills, cause the current ones are crap. #4 could use some reworks but #5 needs to be changed out for something else.
- should get up to 8 allies affected and adding aegis 5s and regen 5s
- could be a “smash down shield” and create a field (water or fire) with aoe burn or aoe heal and regen.
MAKE SHIELD A GOOD/VIABLE & PURE SUPPORT WEAPON!
This thread is pointless, it doesn’t offer any constructive suggestions or anything of the sort. Just cause you say you “played” (think you just left the game running a lot of the time) for 10k hours doesn’t mean you know what’s good for the game and what isn’t. GW2 is in an amazing place right now, it’s going places, growing, evolving. Could it do that faster, sure, but some thing when pushed and rushed can go terribly wrong. All you did by posting this is complain about the things you seem to not like. But if you ask me, you’re completely burnt out from playing. If that 10k hours played is true, you spent more than 413 full days in the game. That’s crazy and unhealthy.
Picture from dulfy so people know what’s being discussed here: http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/gw2-warrior-defense-specialization.jpg
Like I said, this is a view from a WvW perspective. Dogged march is one of the best traits to have in WvW as a warrior. But I want to talk about using shields, cause shields are awesome yet not that many people use them cause there are better weapon choices out there currently. And with the shield master trait being in the same tier as Dogged march I don’t think that will change much. Although I do agree the shield trait is much better now, just placed terribly.
But who in their right mind would trade Dogged march for Shield master.
As Juba said above, replacing Thick skin (or just removing it cause no one uses it) with Dogged march would be wise. You either use Adrenaline health or Dogged march for your minor, regen vs. condi dur reduction seems logical to me.
If I understand correctly, we will be forced to choose between Dogged march, Armored attack and Shield master trait in Adept line. So basically (speaking for WvW) using Dogged march and Shield master together will be impossible..? I might be wrong, so please correct me if that’s the case.
But if this is right, they made shield even less viable imo. Sad.

Kinda looks like Cabal Online nation war map in a way, but not really. I don’t know, but I kinda feel that vibe of it, although it doesn’t really look like it. Oh well… hope it’s not the new EOTM, that would blow.
Yeah gliding should be awesome, but I hope they’ll add much more NEW (not just rehashed) elements to the game. But like they said, HoT will be a frame to build upon in the future.
I’ve found this column today while searching for HoT information, I thought I’d share it with you guys since it does raise some valid points.
http://www.mmodaily.net/2015/03/weekly-column-guild-wars-2-heart-of.html
Some good ideas guys, but I feel like most of them would require a lot of work to develop.
I think simple, easy to implement ideas/changes would have a bigger chance coming to life.
Again in my opinion the first thing that needs to change/be offered is a free 2 play WvW version of GW2, which is very easy to make, costs close to nothing while bringing the much needed player base back into WvW. I’m talking about thousands of new players that I’m sure at least half would buy the full game after a while plus gems etc. Seriously ArenaNet please consider this, I can only see benefits by doing this.
Also about rewards, again, very easy to change. Remove badges of honor from EOTM, add the option to trade badges (~10k) for black lion tickets, ascended items you name it. Yeah it would be a grind, but a well worth it one.
So please guys, simple ideas, I’m still convinced that devs secretly read some of these threads. Here’s hoping…
Zetsumei: the level limitation would only apply to F2P accounts. That would “help” people learn the game mechanics etc via EOTM. As we know EOTM can level up your toon really quick, get you a decent amount of gold etc. It’s a nice starting point. For those who would like to experience more, they’d have to buy the game.
I know Arena Net staff that lurks the forum probably won’t even notice this thread, but I have to try. Not saying anything won’t change a thing.
I strongly feel F2P (for WvW) is the way to go right now, along with server mergers and better rewards. All of this could be accomplished with little coding effort.
Maybe I’m just a dreamer.
The level 80 to join EBG and BL would only apply to F2P accounts (I see how you can understan it that way, my bad). That way we wouldn’t have so many trolls and hackers if they managed to pass the antihack software (those “shield” apps other mmos use), cause grinding it out to lv80 in EOTM would take a while, most wouldn’t bother.
GW2 WvW is in dire need of player influx, T1 don’t have queues apart from reset night/weekend and evening EBG. And it’s been like this for months, that’s alarming!
I am 100% sure that a lot of the F2P players would buy the game, buy gems etc, when they could try the game for themselves before purchasing.
