Sadly I don’t think anyone cares for character development or story. There could be strong implications that Evon eats children and is a Jormag worshipper but players would still vote for him because of that fractal.

It’s really just about the fractals in the end.

What I hope Anet considers someday is creating a separate map for each of the three Orr zones that you can only access if you have beaten the personal story. It would give people more incentive to complete the story and see what different content it offers now, while still keeping the option of farming the Orr zones with all the undead like you used to.

How would it make sense? There are no playable races or factions that want to kill each other at the moment. Nightmare Court, Sons of Svanir, Inquest, etc. have no interest in saving Tyria, not to mention you fight all these people in your personal story. So when you wonder if Anet is considering something like this I don’t know what heck you’re talking about.

Final Rest - Current Theories

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kingslayer.1342

kingslayer.1342

Has anyone considered the possibility that either the developer was being untruthful or is just simply misinformed at the time of his hint? On one hand many players have been farming events and large chests for millions of hours and never got Final Rest, and on the other hand players have been playing this game and all its events for millions of hours… JUST AS PLANNED. What I’m trying to suggest is, and I’m open to being wrong, hell I hope I’m wrong, that Murdock’s comment was simply designed to send us on a wild goose chase and make us keep playing their large epic events over and over.

There is no Final Rest in this game. The code may exist, but it can never be obtained, unless this supposedly large chest is well hidden, possibly in Caudecus’ UFO underneath Queensdale. But it can only be seen and looted if you have 1000 globs of ectos in your inventory.

I agree with his points, but are we really seriously supposed to know who “WoodenPotatoes” is and have this feeling that his opinion somehow matters more than someone else’s? Why is this person relevant? Who cares? Just say “this guy said” or whatever. The internet gives so many people the false sense of importance

A lot of Guild Wars fans know who WoodenPotatoes is. You might argue that not EVERYONE knows him, but not everyone knows who Jamie Foxx is either.

I’m not a farmer nor am I actively going for any legendary/ascended gear at the moment, so this really doesn’t affect me, but I do feel somewhat bad for anyone who was trying to keep quiet about this. I think they have a valid reason to be upset, and to accuse them of being selfish goldsellers seems unfounded. As helpful as this thread was trying to be, I am almost certain that ArenaNet is going to nerf these drop rates and everybody loses in the long run. Prices will go up again, but you’ll be forced to buy them this time as the alternative is no longer a viable option. I believe THAT is the real issue with this post.

Oh well, at least Southsun will have tourism now.

I don’t think there is any truth in this. Doesn’t make sense in any way. For starters, 50g means NOTHING if you’re going for a Legendary. I think you just sound like an extremely young player and the guild might just be looking for older and experienced players. You shouldn’t dwell on it, instead just join a different guild.

It would do them well to turn Southsun Cove into an actual resort, or move the fractals portal there for it to serve as a hub so LA isn’t spammed with party requests.

Your first MMO I take it?

Otherwise I don’t see why you’re complaining about a bot, considering every MMO in history has had bots.

Your first forum I take it? By your “logic” you may as well ask people to not complain about anything as it probably happens in other games too.

I hoped to have seen the last “do not complain about bots, you cannot do anything against them” post on the Lineage2 forums before quitting. You do realize Arenanet is doing a good job cracking down on cheaters and goldsellers so far? The number of bots I see in the game has significantly decreased and it has been quite a while that I last got a goldseller spammail. In fact I think I only got 2 of them during the whole last month. They will find a way to detect the odd breed of warping characters as well.

So kindly lose your doom and gloom attitude and do not try to discourage people from voicing valid concerns. Because voicing valid concerns is part of what these forums were created for, while telling others that they should not post (just because the problem is not exclusive to Guildwars2) is not what the forums are for.

Unclever sarcasm isnt necessarily “voicing valid concerns.”

Says you.

It was clever and even if it wasn’t, it doesn’t make the concern less valid.

Honestly I can’t recall any moments that made me laugh after Claw Island. And it had nothing to do with Tybalt or that Priory mentor either, my first mentor was Forgal and he did so much better as the serious commander. The heart was just not in the writing in the second half of the story.

The saddest part of it is that whoever enters it first, the dungeon cutscenes will be all about them instead of you even though you worked your kitten off to get there. Another big kitten is that you can do the last quest as soon as you hit 80 without having to do any of the other quests or even dungeons. Talk about a huge spoiler if you do it without realizing it concludes the story… and then it makes you do it again when your story actually tells you to go there at the end, as if your first accidental run didn’t even count!

I’m surprised this wasn’t asked about at the AMA. There weren’t enough questions about ascended gear I guess.

I wonder if the small percentage of people who like him started with a sylvari and met him at the beginning of their journey, making his sudden intrusion in your story less shocking and more organic.

Still, he’s pretty bad. I feel like he’s the kind of character you expect to see in a fanfic written by one person, but I expect better from an entire team that worked on him and the story.

To keep this thread constructive, what kind of personality would you have liked to see in Trahearne? Personally I almost wish he really was an arrogant glory hog, or on the other side of the spectrum, someone who acts tough in front of the military but quietly pulls you aside and tells you he’s terrified and has no idea what he’s doing and wants you to decide what to do because he’s a nervous wreck. Basically what’s already in the game, but it’s so much more interesting with personality and humour!

I can confirm that Konig is correct. As for my prediction/speculations, I don’t think Tengu will be involved in anything huge for at least another year. We need to get used to the idea that they don’t involve themselves with outsiders (not just read up about it on a wiki), and if they start doing that soon, then it won’t be such a big deal as opposed to it happening much later.

I don’t know why, I just avoided looking at it every time I ran past it. Maybe that was the point.

Map Exploration 100% includes P vs P WHY ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kingslayer.1342

kingslayer.1342

The only thing 100% Map Completion awards you (besides a shiny star) is an ingredient for crafting a Legendary weapon. If that is something you want, then you have to do WvW anyway (for the 500 badges of honour) so it all kind of ties in.

Having said that, I hate it, too. I wish the reward was something you could make use of immediately, like a new set of town clothes or access to the Tyrian Explorer Society. I don’t even know where that is but wouldn’t it be great if it was a giant building with it’s own instance, and only players with 100% completion may enter and do some exclusive activities and generally feel like they accomplished something.

World completion needs a little more incentive than just an ingredient for an already elusive goal at the moment.

Lost Shores Feedback Thread

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kingslayer.1342

kingslayer.1342

Well, apparently writing one sentence saying that I agree with this thread warrants getting my post deleted, yet people who post one sentence saying how they loved this event get no such treatment. Nice.

Here is some content to my post, stating exactly how I feel and adding to the discussion then.

I hope they’re not patting themselves on the back for thinking they just concluded a successful event. One-time events, in my opinion, have proven to be a disaster.

Regarding Matt Witter’s quote, I find that really hypocritical given how this weekend worked out. I also feel like nobody cares about the Oceanic players. Since this isn’t a subscription based game, they already got our money so let’s just focus on our highest concurrency at noon instead of creating content that maintains high concurrency throughout the whole day, or week! I’m really sorry if this offends anyone working on the game, I know it’s been frustrating for everybody, but this is my honest feedback and I feel like nobody is listening and simply deleting/merging threads in one corner that developers will probably just glance through at best. And then dismiss it and create an epic one-time Winter’s Day event.

So, SIGNED.

Let the final event repeat for 24 hours?

in The Lost Shores

kingslayer.1342

I don’t think they even realize how much damage they have done to the game in one weekend. I hope they’re not patting themselves on the back for thinking they just concluded a successful event.

Honestly, I wish I could unsubscribe from a free to play game just so they know they lose players, but they already got the Australian’s money and couldn’t care less. It’s all about the highest concurrency in the US and the need to feel like a special MMO with “EPIC ONE TIME EVENTS~”

It’s kind of disheartening from a game I have been anticipating for years.

Logan has only known Jennah for about 7 years or so, she certainly hasn’t lead him on their entire life. If you read Edge of Destiny, you can clearly see that she is into him from all the letters they have been sending each other, as well as his quick promotion from a scout to leader of the Seraphs. As for some of his “beta” tendencies (crap word btw), I believe it has something to do with his older brother who used to look down on him and tear him down at every opportunity.

They won’t answer that.

But I agree with you that there should be some kind of warning, or have Arah locked until you either finish Source of Orr or do all the previous dungeons before that. It’s so simple, and really strange for a game so heavily focused on immersion to have such immersion-breaking mechanics.

The Dredge...

in Lore

Posted by: kingslayer.1342

kingslayer.1342

My question about the Dredge is why the Norn are at war with them. While the Durmand Priory is under attack for preserving dwarf culture and even housing a stone dwarf in their ranks, there isn’t any reason why the Norn governmental bodies couldn’t have purposed a treaty. It’s not like the Dredge are forcing their communist beliefs on other races.

Now given that some Norn are using dwarf ruins as living spaces, perhaps the conflict begins there, Otherwise I’m not really seeing a good reason for the player to go in and slay a buch of molerat men.

The Dredge simply believe that they are the true heirs of everything that the Dwarves ever possessed, including the place where Norn have settled now.

We run one-time events at the time where we have the highest concurrency.

That may be the highest concurrency on a NORMAL day, when there’s nothing remarkable going on. When you run an event for a certain period of time, traffic is going to be peaking during that whole period than it ever did on a normal Sunday, that’s common sense. So instead of chasing the highest concurrency, why not try doing something that creates it during a different time of day? Having one-time events on a Saturday instead of Sunday would be GLOBALLY beneficial and I am more than certain that the event will have this “highest concurrency” that you guys are after.

After all, the whole world will be participating, not just a portion of it. Trust me, people will MAKE time on a Saturday for a one-time event, more than they would on any other day. Stop chasing people and make them come to you, ArenaNet.

kingslayer.1342

Yeah, unfortunately that part was really badly thought out. If it weren’t for wikis and forums I would have never realized that Arah SM is the final quest of your personal story. Kind of ruins the immersion, and possibly motivation to go back and finish your personal story after running the dungeon. Not to mention the Orr stuff is largely uninteresting and the rewards are unremarkable.

The dungeons should have been available to the player in order that they beat them chronologically. So the Manor cannot be done until the player runs Ascalonian Catacombs, and Twilight Arbor can’t be started until the Manor is completed. All the way to Arah. That way the player is still participating in the story, only with Destiny’s Edge instead of Trahearne if they don’t have time to do personal story. But let’s face it, Destiny’s Edge should have been the main story, while the dungeons should have been dealing with Trahearne and the Orders.
