As far as I know, many people are willing to transfer to a bandwagon server, but always hesitant to transfer from the bandwagon to a new server, which is why anet has to close the server. At least in NA I think.

These lists are very basics that it sounds more like “most common mistakes made by hotjoin heros”. Instead, make another thread to list things you can do to help carry the team as a solo player, for example.

Teamwork is still needed to function in conquest. Being able to carry lies on the individual’s skill. If you need someone to instruct you on how to carry, then you are likely to fail anyway.

It’s also very narrow minded of you to criticize the tips shared by helpful individuals when you have provided nothing useful

Keep an eye on your allies health bar, and when he does go down, try to rez as possible. Allies can go down especially when getting focued. It means he’s taking damages for you instead. Not always necessary to conclude he’s no skills. Watching your allies helps rotating, if they need help or not.

Also, when you have bunker mesmers on your team, and he puts wells, stay inside to get buffs and alacrity. I see often players not staying in wells. Alacrity is given when the well ends.

Assigning separate leaderboards for solos and teams would be difficult. Conquest mode is a team play. How would you rank individual players if the match making mixes solos and premades. Points, dps, mmr, win/loss ratio, or …? When you say just separate leaderboards for solos and premades, give proper suggestions like how would you program your code to properly assign individual players a rank in combined que system. They’re not the easy.

If they can’t provide soloque, my suggestion is to just provide the leaderboard for teams(after all, it’s called guild wars), and not rank individual players. It seems to me that premades will likely attain higher ranks on the leaderboard. It would probably be meaningless to rank individuals if the ranking depends on how many times they play as premades.

DD ele became stronger after the specialization. The game has been around for 3 years. Also, win ratio doesn’t mean much since the algorism tends to put you around 50% assuming soloqued all the time. You could be good, but still hang around these percentage.

Saying that you can get might and healing elsewhere other than fields is disingenuous verging on flat out falsification.

Group utility is not the pinnacle of skills. But go on calling people disingenuous. I’ll continue watching pvp games where the whole game occurs without a single water field being blast. I’ll continue to duel thieves …

Actually, engis have their own water fields and finishers. They blast all the time. Staff eles too.

What’s actually sad is that anet has buffed Mesmer so much, and yet we only saw one Mesmer out of these top three teams. To me, double ele was not surprising at all, but double guard, one was condi-guard, was surprising. Anyway, congrats to Abjured, and well deserved win there. They lost the first round, almost lost to TCG, but survived and came back strong in the final round.

As long as the system remains to be server vs. server, people will stack in bandwagon servers so they can continue to ktrain. To make significant changes, we would need a complete overhaul of the systems. These days, wvwers look not very different from pvers.

Actually, the enemies in the video weren’t too bad. These are kind of the average enemies you’ll often encounter in wvw, and there are lots of them. The video is a good example why I stopped roaming.

Is this an NA thing because I have very very rarely encountered this in EU even right at the bottom. Though I’ve never been in bandwagon gold so I dunno if it’s a gold thing…

I was referring to some random pugs in wvw, not the roamers by the way. Roamers are usually skilled, pugs likely aren’t, as you can see from the video; they couldn’t tell the difference between clones and a real one. Good roamers are all spread among many servers I would assume. But in higher tier, the chances are you’ll encounter pugs more often than getting to good fights with good roamers.

I had a 4 game losing streak in unranked followed by 3 game winning streak in ranked all as solo. When you have a bad streak, you may want to go ranked. Clearly, there is a difference in skill level. The problem with ranked is sometimes you may matched up against premades. The other day, I saw players from Abjured on the enemy side and that didn’t go too well.

My guess is that op may have a higher mmr, so basically he is teamed up with new players and has to carry the team?

I dont think it’s a good idea to try to balance a class based from wvw roaming perspective. I kind of remember one of the dev said wvw isn’t balanced. Most players you bump into aren’t likely running roaming build with full zerker+food, but rather majority are running tanky support build who aren’t designed for 1v1, but simply trying to catch up to their commander somewhere on the map. Im pretty sure that top mesmers in tournaments will not be running PU because too much steatlth is only a minus I beilieve. If I see double mesmers from top teams running PU, then I would say to nerf it.

Illusionary Riposte is apparently bugged, I just noticed recently. It doesn’t create illusion upon blocking. Not sure if anyone noticed this bug since no one hardly ever uses offhand sword. Played 50-100 games in ranked or unranked since the specialization took place and never seen a mesmer who was using sword as offhand. Maybe this one indeed needs a rework otherwise, no one will ever use it. How about evade for 1/2 sec, or gain boon after blocking, its phantasm do aoe damage or apply torment. Just needs to tweak a bit and this weapon will have a potential I think.

This isn’t really about who’s getting buffs and not. Im not really concerned about this swiftness buff that much. What I care is this one dev member just showed up from nowhere, saw the engi thread, and said “sure, I’ll buff it for you, youre welcome”. And all the engi players were saying “oh thanks”, “thanks a lot” without realizing what actually happened. This is how balances are taking place? When was the last time, something like this happened to other professions. This is kind of disgusting. I’m starting to feel like not wanting to buy this new expansion. Also, someone else started a thread about this on engi forum and the thread got locked. Do they have to do this?

These thread. Op was simply asking how to counter thieves and it turns into this again. I have to disagree couple things about comments that some people made above, that is, if you are playing glassy power build and you encounter a thief, one way to deal with is to disengage from the thief. While this is perfectly fine in wvw as I used to do a lot when outnumered. Just disengage, wait till the numbers are few, turn around, and engage one by one. But this isn’t obviously the way you want to play in pvp. You can’t disengage while rest of your teammates are fighting even disengage momentarily your team will be outnumbered for a short while. I don’t remember how many glassy Mesmer has discouraged me doing this but power shatter I guess tends to do this a lot while I was there fighting. Of course the opposite is also true. If I see a squishy Mesmer on enemy side, just shove couple times, not necessarily down him, then he’ll disengage and I just stay and cap, but if I see this from my team, it’s a bit discouraging.

Other thing is that it’s hard to compare builds in pvp. We can easily compare builds in other game modes like dueling for example, the build that wins a lot is superior. but in conquest mode, each build whether tanky condition, or power shatter, lockdown, or something, each build contributes little differently from one another. Condition build brings greater survivability allows you to stay fight whereas power build brings burst. I have no problem with power shatter so long as they can stay alive and fight, not disengaging.

To op, if you like power shatter , then you should play it, but try practicing in pvp without using any utility skills first and see if you can survive long. If you find yourself dying or disengaging too often, try more defensive runes or knight amulet. I’ve seen someone with knight amulet but still deal reasonable dps as well. If not working, then try condition builds. Not sure op is still following the thread, but anyway.

I see players sometimes asking to buff necros, but when it comes to balancing necro, devs have to be careful because necros are one of the superb class in wvw. They shine in big scale fights like zerg vs zerg. It’s no coincidence that people came up with the comp GWEN. While necro may not be the best in conquest mode, but mesmers and rangers aren’t the best either. You cant hope and stick to one profession and be good in all game mode: conquest, roaming, dueling, zerg fights. You never bring a thief in zerg fights hoping to contribute as much as GWEN do. Every professions generally lack in something to some extent. Basically, if they buff necros, they’d be super in wvw. Something else have to tone down.

Confused about Phantasmal Fury's placement

I was also thinking about this placement of this phantasmal fury, but from different perspective. Since it synthesizes so well with iduelist (proc bleeding and confusions on crits), it’s better to place either phantasm fury or duelist trait go somewhere so that you could have both of these traits. It looks like these two traits will be in adept tiers, and you can only choose one.

I can’t believe this thread is still going. I’m not going to argue what builds are better or not, but I could argue that there are no viable Mesmer builds in conquest modes including power shatter. The descriptions in metabattle.com says at the very bottom “countered by thieves”. What kind of build would be viable if it’s hard countered by a profession since any top teams would usually have a thief.

The reason could be that the number of soloqers are declining? So, despite losing so many games, op still match up against premades. It has been mentioned that winning % is little more important in this season, so people form premades to try to win.

I wish they rework on ileap. The clone isn’t leaping, it’s sliding. That’s why it gets stuck on a terrain. Only works against noob necro who stands stationary while fighting. Using “swap” followed by sword#2, swinging swords where no enemies near me, and I look like an idiot. If they can’t fix it, at least rename it from ileap to “islide”.

The fact that op is saying she got kicked out from the zerg by being told “stop following our group around with her crap uplevelled character” as opposed to being told politely. This is solely my opinion, but there may be more rude people in wvw and pvp than pve environment. This isn’t about desolation, but wvw in general. I’ve seen a similar case in my server too. What if the developers see this thread (they probably did) and find out they just lost one customer. They’ll probably abandon wvw even more.

“Random”… It was a bug that allowed mesmers to use this skill as a guaranteed stun break instead of what it was intended for (not listed as a stun break either in the tooltips, and it still is even after this bug…

It wasn’t that players were upset about the recent ileap fix. It was because there are many other bugs that were mentioned in other threads which are still not fixed. Another word, players are fine with the ileap fix if the developer team have fixed other bugs as well.

I may not like the idea of channeling skill, or stabbing and holding the sword in the ground. It could work in pve world, but probably not in pvp. Experienced players will almost always interrupt if the animation takes too long. Imagin that a warrior is smashing hundred blades on you while the mesmer is holding on to the sword, you’d probably be dead before you finish casting the skill. Holding the sword in the ground while standing stationary will be a guaranteed backstab by a thief, or engi will start throwing grenades or bombs at you.

What mesmer is lacking compared to other profession, I think, is a mobility. warriors and elementalist use greatsword for mobility, like whirling attack or ele’s fiery rush. I prefer to see one mobility skill with the greatsword. It should be easy to implement since the animation is done by other professions, and make mind stab move to … utility skill.
