Very disappointing news for you guys

Bye guys.

Regina, please accept my sincere thanks for coming and talking with us, but with no new content on the way, promises of less-buggy versions of the same content just doesn’t do it for me.

I hope the company realizes that it offers one of the most interesting combat systems around, but without fresh, replayable, challenging content…it is being wasted.

It’s been fun. I hope that some day a compelling reason to return will exist. But for now, you guys have dropped the ball hard. Keep listening, keep working, and add new content before its too late.

inb4 BHBs — No, I don’t think I’m special. But I want to let the friends I’ve made on this forum know what happened to me, and let the company see yet another person leaving because of their prolonged silence and Living Story tunnel-vision.

Best wishes,
Dave

No, but you are talking about Anet monitoring numbers, and according to you, the numbers for ‘hard’ content like Aetherblade path are to low for Anet to make any new content like this.
All I’m saying, is that your way of logic: Anet’s numbers say not enough % of the playerbase plays this type of content, so why make more?, is wrong. Like I said, the numbers are totally not representable to the type of content, but they represent that if you make hard content that gives crap rewards, no one will play it.

Do you even read what I say before you rant on again and again? I never said that you said anything about Aetherblade path not being played. What I said was that when you used the Aetherblade path in your “Anet monitoring bullkitten” story, it is totally not representable.

But it is very representable.

It means you will do any crap if it has better rewards.

You are now saying it yourself:) It’s representable, yes, but for a whole different aspect for the game. It’s representable that a lot of players choose reward efficiency over challenge. Like you said:) But some guy keeps coming up with this that it is representable for the fact that players LIKE hard content or not. And it’s not representable for that.
The fact that’s it may or may not be played doesn’t mean we don’t want it. I think that from the whole discussion topic we can come to a conclusion that maybe the bigger problem lies in the reward structure.

Reward structure is fine.

If you want challenging content you have it. You dont want to do it. It IS representative. The end.

And of course they will focus what 99% wants and not what 1% wants. Man hours are very finite resource.

Yeah, ofcourse. I spent 2-3 hours on a way harder dungeon than regular dungeons, and I get the same or sometimes even worse loot than I would have gotten in regular dungeons. Yeah, that reward structure is fine.

If you enjoy challenge it is.

If its not about challenge it isnt.

Case closed.

I suppose you’d prefer content to have no reward tied to it?

Just a “Difficult for difficulty’s sake”

Nope, it shoud be exactly how it is, same rewards and you do what you enjoy.

If for nothing else, for the sake of constant proving people like in this thread wrong in claiming thers some huge demand when it isnt (there are still people in hard denial out there) and not skewed by bribing players with better rewards.

Its objective mesure, its like people measure 1 meter and you still argue its not and some your random measure is 1 meter and blaming 1 meter for being 1 meter. It may be cute in the start but it gets hilarious afterwards.

sry but games where everyone has everything are just boring . Maybe everyone should have very style just for loging in ?

Well, pay ANet to make something unique just for you then.

Sry, but if you dont see how ridiculous your statement is, well….

A lot of us paid ANet to make this type of content. Not with just paying for the game, but also paying for stuff in the gem store. We did this with the thought to help ANet deliver more content, to help the game. Now, after 2 years, a lot of players feel like their money hasn’t been put to good use, thus resulting in a lot of threads like this one.

When I saw the requirements for a backpack, I took a deep breath and thought, maybe I may not do this one. But once I had made the first one and then the second, I decided, what the heck, this could be something interesting to at least try. It took some planning regarding the materials and some I had to refine which is also something I had never done before.

I had not tried fractals or dungeons up to this point and had no plans on even trying until Mawdrey. I read up on the fractals in the wiki and on other sites and tried to be careful about picking groups for fractals and looked for ones that said everyone welcome or for noobs etc. and I found good groups and some really great people. Once we did get the bugged Cliffside but everyone was a good sport on that run.

Ninetynine percent of this is simply putting the effort and thought into completing the tasks to get to the end goal. I did learned some things from the folk I did them with and that makes it a plus as well. I actually had a good time doing fractals, though I doubt it would be something that would be a regular event for me, who knows I could change my mind on that one, lol…

All in all I liked that there was a lot of variety and we had to do a thing or two outside the box to get this piece. I never expected easy. What I hated the most was the Foxfire gathering for me which was a pain. The upside to that, though, was going through areas collecting higher level mats which I will use for other things now. Also I am helping hubby where I can because not all his crafting levels are high enough to make the plant food or the pot.

It doesn’t look like Mawdrey is going away anytime soon so anyone should be able to craft this if they desire and take their time doing it. No one is making us do this nor did I feel it was unreasonable in any aspect. It was a bit frightening to start fractals especially when you hear the horror stories about some groups. But once I started I realized if you are right up front that you may be new or not done this one before etc. and if the group wants someone experienced, don’t take it personal, just say your byes and look for another group.

This game offers a lot to veterans in the form of daily/monthly rewards and achievement points. You’re given free permanent and temporary boosts, gold, and even gems. You get laurels which you can convert into gold or spend on cosmetics or toys.

GW2 might not have a perfect model. But it does (roughly) follow the model outlined in the OP, while holding true to the core philosophy of the game: cooperative, pay-once/play-forever, and a cash shop that offers only cosmetic/playful benefits or minor boosters.

I’ll +1 this request.

Would love to see these (and blade shards) added to the collections tab. They are a crafting component after all….

Although, they aren’t a ‘traditional’ crafting component, they are a forge component. So perhaps, how about a ‘mystic forge’ collections tab. Un-soulbind (account bind it instead) the crap we buy from Miyani and allow us to deposit them into this new collections section, along with the clusters, and blade shards, etc.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

And thanks for this down time to process the story (and perhaps grieve just a bit). It’s been a hectic run. We are human, after all. While it is a virtual game, it also becomes part of our reality.

Yesterday, I had my faith in newcomers rekindled.

AC expl. with friends, we had one spot left and find this Guardian in base colours and chainmail asking for a spot in /s. We go “Welp, spot open” and invite him to our team. Turns out he’s lvl 28 with 305 AP, and had never done a single dungeon before. He was new.

You’d think this scenario would spell disaster? Nope, not at all. Of course we carried him, but you can basically duo or solo AC nowadays so it’s not like it was an inconvenience, but anyhow…

He listened to everything we said. We told him of stacking, he stacked. Told him of skips, he skipped with us (Like a pro, I might add. Well, all things considered, he got through the Gravelings after Spider Queen and the Spider room after the first burrows on p3 on the first try. Still better than a lot of PuGs.) After the dungeon runs, we sent him on his way with some build advice and a crash course in “How to use Utilities”. Seeing him marvel at the whole 3g he had earned made me all warm and fuzzy inside.

My only concern is that the next time he PuGs AC, it probably won’t be with an Ele, a Warr and a Guard blazing through everything without a care in the world. We might’ve spoiled him.

PS: When was anyone going to tell me that you don’t need Ice bows at the burrows in p3? Went much faster by just stacking Might in firefields and blasting it. (Finally got to use my Hammer on my guard, wooh).

It’s always possible they were fed up with you at that point and HoB was just the last drop. Underperforming guardians can be the most frustrating thing in this game. Leaving shaite like staff auto attacking aside, running a dungeon run with a guardian and not getting a single WoR when it’s needed, missing aegis timing horrendously. Dying to conditions while the guard is happily sitting on his VoR cooldown watching his HP tick up little by little ect. can turn a saint into a demon. Trust me on this.

It’s easier for people to forgive a bad thief, or a bad ele, maybe even a bad warrior, but for god’s sake, no matter what you do, never EVER do badly as a guardian or ranger. People will eat you alive.

Holy Trinity Is Called "Holy" For A Reason

I didn’t know dungeons need a tank. #LearnNewThingsEveryDay

I dislike the trinity and very much like what anet has done to keep it out of their game. I like that I have options with each class. I’m glad that my guardian can be a DPS truck and a cleric (not that I would ever do that because why?) but I’m happy to have the option.

Playing how anyone wants is awesome. I’m sorry that without the trinity, however, you are not playing how you want. But trinity games are a dime a dozen, but there aren’t many like guild wars 2. And that’s nice.

Hey.. thanks for this guide

How would you trait a sceptor/torch guard? That’s what I have been using when I solo or in a small group. I mean which skills should I trait in the build you suggested.

If you’re talking about the 0/30/30/5/5 build, this is what scepter/torch works best with. The only traits that are a must are the Mediation traits in Valor, and also the Grandmaster trait Right-Hand Strength. The adept and master traits can vary, and depend on the player.

Inner Fire- Great if you want even more fury up time.

Blind Exposure- Another great trait, just make sure you have the right weapons to get the max benefit from blinds. (gs, sword, focus)

Radiant Fire- Works well if you’re using torch, and it also helps with burning up time.

Powerful Blades- Must have if you’re are also running sword.
