I see…
If they don’t add any kind of historian or some npc who explains the whole season 1 thing (i don’t know if there’s already one), they should add some big sticky on the forum or a permanent link on the launcher to that trailer and the wiki page.
I really didn’t know they were managing things like that. The jump from the personal story to season 2 is a big one…
Came back after a month, played the new chapter, and now i’m leaving again to continue playing all the games i got from summersale…
So, meh…
Quick question: what resources have the people who missed ‘’key parts’’ of the first season, or are just new to the game (or are Chinese) to know these characters?
I really don’t know, and I thought they would have added some kind of introduction or something, but i really have no idea.
It’s the equivalent of having a locked door in the middle of a wide open field.
This.
Does that mean that they will start with LA in ruins, and every time they go to the instanced personal story version of LA, it will be back to normal?
Same for our new characters, but without any living story to (barely) explain what the kitten is going on?
The same people who say “no trinity” “no roles” are the same ones complaining about Zerker “meta” and making other “builds” more viable. It’s an all dps game. Moar damage pls. Thats what you wanted that’s what you got. Why would you put gear with a heal stat on it, when there is no need for that role to be fulfilled? Why would you stack HP and toughness beyond your personal survivability preference? Why go condition damage when it caps and gimps your damage output?
Aren’t some of you the same people who used to get mad at people for having magic find in their gear? Because it took away from what? Their damage output yes?
We don’t need the trinity, we already have the DPS monotheism.
The first half of the personal story is awesome, and the second half doesn’t suck as much as the living world.
So, no.
I’d love to see riots, violence and rising tension between ’’intelligent’’ races/species, however i don’t think Anet has the ba… guts to go that ’’far’’. So don’t get your hopes too high.
The guards and the council are pirates and they let their city burn…
They have always been quite stupid…
Since every race can wear Grenth’s face & backpiece, I really don’t care if they add Scarlet’s airstyle. Inmersion is already broken, so who cares.
However it would be funny if NPCs insulted you for wearing that airstyle.
Seems like the living story writers love nothing more than stamping on the remains of old Guild Wars lore. I wish history and lore from GW1 were celebrated more rather than retconed and removed from the game.
yep, subliminal message from the new writers saying they are jelly of the good lore from the first game because they can’t write for kitten in this one
Agreed. With both.
Just… don’t take the lore seriously anymore. Or the living story. Or any dialogue. Or anything.
We don’t need the trinity.
We are totally happy with our DPS monotheism.
OMG, and this bug is happening right now? does it mean that even i we manage to somehow kill the knights we might end up travelling to an overflow, on a empty ship?
Battle for Lion's Arch Open Issues and Tips

Well, I guess it’s time to move out from Lion’s Arch. If the event is no longer profitable and we can’t play the way we want, there’s no reason to stay.
I feel sorry for all the people who didn’t get the achievements/shinnies they wanted before the patch, but I don’t want to spend my time on a broken event, for I don’t have much time to spend here…
L80 human necromancer, L80 sylvari mesmer, L80 charr guardian, L80 norn warrior, L80 asura engineer, geared with exotics, some with exotics+ascendeds and only one with full ascended. All of them use berserker builds.
4/5 have map completion.
They keep pooping on hurting GW1’s lore, and people pays for it.
So, if you really need to keep making new store skins every 2 weeks, go ahead, but why the hell did you pee all over reused our GW1’s hard earned skins, only to put them in the gem-store? did you really think people would not get angry?
You only need to dodge twice. It takes 20 seconds.
(obvious SPOILER)

Thank you Dulfy.
Baruch Bay confirm.
Anet test your crap just this time, please. I’m tired of beta-testing.
Grieving widow’s veil and memorial candles for 800 gems the whole set, next on the gem store! Because we don’t have a soul.
And re the ruins of Old LA.. it was a small area. A little fountain. Some steps. Little things GW vets looked at fondly.. that stood in the way of “progress” in no way. They did not need destroyed to advance the story and I guess I’m mystified at the jubilation shown by some when it happened.
This. Right now, the destruction of the ruins can only be qualified as vandalism, unless they give some good and well written explanation (however, I doubt we’ll see any…).
Zodiac Armor -- Can the effect be changed?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

the only thing keeping me from buying this armor set is the fact that i don’t want my character to look like a smurf
Same. If the blue part was made dyable it might be interesting.
sooo leatherworkers get treated great..

Its not only the value and drop rate, but also the ammount of it needed (you know, the 3 scraps = 1 bolt while 2 ores = 1 ingot thing, et cetera).
It really sucks.
(edited by lazarus.1639)
And my point still stands. The changes we saw on GW1 were made due to well (of course, not perfect) written stories. It didn’t matter if it was the destruction of one place or the beginning of the building of another, everything had its purpose and reason to be there, or at least, if it didn’t, it was a nice mistery to be unveiled. Of course we didn’t know all the plot since the beginning, but it didn’t made it worse at all, because we were discovering it little by little, acknowledging parts of Tyria’s history that were inside the very game.
In the end we faced a cunning and powerful villian, with complex but rather understandable plans (and later we even discovered that he was serving an even higher and darker power, but that’s another story). And the expirience was satisfactory, of course it wasn’t like ‘’holy crap this is [insert Tolkien/Neil Gaiman/anyothercomicorbookauthorgenious] level’’, but it was a pretty nice feeling.
The current living story so far, has not delivered, at least for me, a feeling of accomplishment. Of course i’m not looking for the SAME feeling the old Prophecies GW1 campaign gave me, you can’t compare them (one had all the info inside the very game, on the other we had to search and read blogs, one was a whole campaign, the other are just episodes, one had tri-dimensional characters, now we have more simple and younger player-appealing bi-dimensional ones, et cetera).
And of course it’s not the same game, but it’s the same lore. Although some times, it doesn’t look so…
So the thing is, if Lion’s Arch, and more importantly, old Lion’s Arch ruins have been destroyed for a good and well written reason that is finally revealed at the end of this arc, i shall stand corrected, for it is not the destruction itself that matters, but the reason behind this destruction, and its story.
However i don’t have my hopes very high, given previous experiences, so that’s the reason I ask them to stop touching the old lore, for i’m afraid of them destroying it with no reason at all.
(edited by lazarus.1639)
Even the Great Northern Wall might not survive this year.
Stop destroying the old lore please.
I hope you can look back at what you wrote and see the irony there.
What is the ‘lore’ of the Great Northern Wall? Well, it just so happens that in the original game, it was destroyed by the Searing. For you to complain now about the potential destruction of something that was already destroyed in the game you’re nostalgic for is more than a little silly.
If anything, this attack on Lion’s Arch is very much staying true to Guild Wars tradition. Things get destroyed. Everyone has fond memories of ‘pre-Searing’, the peaceful Ascalon that is lost once you reach a certain story step and that can then never be accessed again with that character. But the Searing happened. The game went on. Now it’s Lion’s Arch that’s being scorched. This is the kind of ‘nothing is sacred’ approach that the original game embraced. So why can’t you embrace it now?
Holy crap, I see i need to be 100% accurate in order to communicate with you. Okay, let me try again, ahem: when i was talking about the Great Northern Wall being destroyed, i was referring to the actual ruins of the Great Northern Wall being reduced to tiny microscopic tiny bits inside of a giant crater created by some random giant spacecraft driven by some random crazy sylvari, so nothing would remain of the original wall.
There, i think that was precise enough.
And the Searing was part of the main story of the campaign. It had a lot of background and was a major part of the plot. Charr using a powerful old magic given to them by the Titans (who had also a lot of background behind them) to retake their lands, for they were there before the humans arrive. That was awesome! and that’s only the beginning.
However, the destruction of this ruins with a godkitten giant flying drill is just pure vandalism. What freaking purpose does it serve? and please don’t tell me that we will have to wait for the next update to see that purpose… it’s been 1 year since Flame and Frost (or 6 months since Queen’s Jubilee) and we still have no clue on why the hell She does what She does (except the I’M CRAZY LALALALA part).
So, i beg you Anet, please stop destroying the old lore.
ps: and even then, when they finally tell us what Her purpose is, it will most certainly be just silly… given previous experiences.
(edited by lazarus.1639)
They butchered the lore long ago… Not even the human gods were safe (and i’m not even talking about the ‘’the dragons are stronger BLABLABLA’’ part).
And now this.
Next time, they might remove the ruins of the Temple of the Ages, or maybe they will blow up the Wizard’s Tower. Even the Great Northern Wall might not survive this year.
And I tremble with fear at the thought of what they might do to Gwen’s and Thackeray’s tombs…
Stop destroying the old lore please.
It’s like Queen’s Jubilee, but without the gauntlet part.
Tailor here. Tired of kittening wasting money.

Why are Scarlet's allies still following her

I don’t even know how the hell does she keep getting more and more soldiers, robots, resources, weapons and all that crap with us don’t noticing where the f… she is getting them from (or where is she building them), while we keep destroying her armies time after time.
So yeah, unlimited army with unlimited resources and many kicks in the butt of the lore.Hope they all die.
You are trying to separate game play from lore. According to the lore, there is only 1 commander, yet when I go to fight the marionette they are tens of commanders, does that mean they are tens of commanders or it is just a gameplay thing.
Gameplay > lore.
Scarlet has unlimited resources just like they are millions of commander (PC) out there. Just like there are an unlimited amount of centaur, inquest etc.
I still need a little piece of story-telling about where the hell does she get all her things and some hint trying to explain ‘’well, after so many failures, we are running out of food, water, toxins, molten pieces of crap…’‘.
Or maybe the Priory or the Order of Whispers appologizing for being dumb to not see her coming. Where the hell did she secretly built a giant robot?!
I can’t just be okay with this.
I hope both Kiel and Evon die screaming in terror and pain.
I hope Kiel meets her doom in a horrible and terrible way. And then, at the last moment, Evon charges in, catches her foes off guard, tosses the injured Kiel over a shoulder and runs to safety.
And thus begins a long running romance/contest between the two, where they keep track of who’s saved who the most times now. Each trying to one-up the other, neither ever admitting to the growing feelings between them that everyone else can so clearly see.
And then, massive rule 34 happens.
Lion’s Arch survived the charr, the mursaat and the rising of Orr, but not the crazy butt-stabber alliance of mutants, robots and UFOs brought by that godkitten bi…
Hope everyone dies and this part of history is forever forgotten.

You realize those fortune-telling things are explicitly worded as such that anyone can read about themselves (or in this case, those of a fictional character) between the nondescript lines, right?
I just randomly selected another name from that site:
Nadyenka
People with this name tend to be creative and excellent at expressing themselves. They are drawn to the arts, and often enjoy life immensely. They are often the center of attention, and enjoy careers that put them in the limelight. They tend to become involved in many different activities, and are sometimes reckless with both their energies and with money.Sounds pretty much exactly like Scarlet to me. Or this one:
Ragnilde
People with this name are excellent at analyzing, understanding, and learning. They tend to be mystics, philosophers, scholars, and teachers. Because they live so much in the mind, they tend to be quiet and introspective, and are usually introverts. When presented with issues, they will see the larger picture. Their solitary thoughtfulness and analysis of people and world events may make them seem aloof, and sometimes even melancholy.Again extremely Scarlet-esque.
+1000 internets for you, sir.
About 50% of total accounts have less than 1,000 achievement points.
And 90% of total accounts have less than 3,000 achievement points.
take that for what you will.
I was going to say that it would be nice to include some kind of % with the achievements to show what % of players completed them (just like games on Steam), it might help to show how many left after just a couple of hours of gameplay.
However that info looks just as helpful. Where did you get it?
Oh my god… so all the efforts, tries, all the gathering of all the information and strategies… just to end up buged? Was that all in vain? Where we trying to beat a broken event?
I feel really sorry for all the community right now.
Holy crap Anet, what have you done?
Baruch Bay player here. We are not even close to phase 2. But we keep trying…
And then, two people who are new to the event get teleported to one platform, all by themselves, and are brutally killed by the champion, failing the event for all the server.
Yay.
Well… broken and untested stuff is to be expected at this point, so i can only hope they’ll fix this somehow. And my hopes aren’t even that high.
Can’t find it. Can someone put a screen or something please?
Farm champ train, farm world bosses and buy berserker gear from the TP.
And CoF p1.
Look for tutorials on youtube about the dungeon and search on google ‘’queensdale train’’ or ‘’frostgorge sound train’’.
I think they will nerf the berserker meta, but it will still be better than condis, support, (…), at least in PvE to the eyes of the majority of players.
So the thing is, the meta will be worse, and the other builds will still be less viable than going full berserker (in PvE)…
Wouldn’t it be better if they made condis/support/… more viable?
Also, i feel really kitten sorry for all the people who crafted all those zerker ascendeds. Best luck if you want to keep playing…
I only log in for the daily pve achievement and to keep crafting the time-gated ascended materials por my light armor…
