It would be nice if Anet gave an official count / proximity, but I don’t see them doing that.
I’m pretty sure it’s still supposed to be capped at 5, as described forever ago in this thread. So they’ve either upped the siege cap for some unknown reason without telling anyone, or introduced a bug allowing the ridiculous situation shown in the screenshot. Both seem pretty plausible.
Wiping the enemy once is fine when the match will end in a blowout anyway, but that’s not always the case. When the teams are fairly evenly matched, the current 5 minute timer is actually too short. There’s generally not enough time to make a comeback after losing the first big fight.
Something else is needed that will help blowouts end quicker, and allow close matches to be fully played out.
All stats are still normalized, they just changed the way skins work so you have one look across the entire game (PvE/PvP/WvW) rather than one for PvP and one for PvE/WvW. Your PvE level has absolutely no impact on your PvP stats.

This is the same as how it worked before. Rewards are based on playtime, which gets reset each time you connect.
Is there a specific reason this route was chosen rather than letting players retain their points in the event of a reconnect? I’m just curious, as it seems like using the percentage of time the player has been in game up until the disconnect and reconnect points would be better suited to determine if a player was contributing and deserves the rewards, but I know there are limitations in the system and wonder if that was a factor here.
The dishonor system has not been enabled yet, so right now things like leaving and queue dodging are not penalized.
I’m not much of a fan of that particular map, but I do enjoy the TDM mode as a whole. One of the major problems with it, however, is that people are trying to play it like it’s conquest, using their conquest builds. That’s not going to end well. Add in that a large portion of pvpers are inexperienced in this type of team fighting, as well as the lack of build templates to switch on the fly, and you’re going to see these massive blowouts left and right.
Small roaming WvW comps work well for 5v5.
As far as comps go, that pretty much nails it. Use builds that synergize well with each other.
You can see d/d on gank from time to time, but more times than not, s/x is going to be a liability. Scepter lacks a lot of the group synergy offered by other weapons, and because of that it needs to be played on the glassy side for its burst in order to make up for it. The problem is that in a gvg setting, a well coordinated gank is going to have few problems recognizing that and taking out a scepter ele from the start.
10/10 would watch again.
I always roam on staff ele.
If you’re unsure where you fall, you can always take the Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology.
If you are keen to point out that WvW is not GvG, then you won’t mind if I politely request that a moderator please move this thread to a more appropriate forum.
Well, considering that there is no forum dedicated to GvG, and that GvG currently takes place in WvW, where exactly is this “more approriate forum” you speak of?
My point is that if these players found sPvP to be more attractive than the flexibility offered by WvWvW then GvGs would have taken off there, doubt you would have been the one to think of it now.
Pretty much this.
I do not agree that the rewards in WvW are poor overall.
2- You do not play WvW and rather focus on PvE which is more rewarding, loot-wise.
The fact that WvWers have to PvE to get decent rewards goes to show how lousy the rewards in WvW are. It is the least rewarding game mode, even compared to PvP. While it’s true most of us don’t WvW for the loot, excluding bags of course, it doesn’t excuse how poorly our time is rewarded relative to the other modes.
@non toxic
I’m going to laugh when , yes WHEN, the all the changes that people have been QQing about finally get released. The devs have stated multiple times that they have something in the works, but its not ready to go live yet. So unless they are straight up lying, which they have 0 reason to do so and in doing so would probably cost them their jobs, something IS coming. Its just not ready for launch.
You have to understand that those statements have been made time and time again over the past couple years, with very little to show for it. As much as I want them to have a bunch of updates coming soon to WvW, it’s become very difficult to believe. I’ll link to a couple of quick examples to help explain why the community is so pessimistic:
Devon Carver on the Future of World vs. World – June 5, 2013
WvW achievement changes – August 25, 2013
These may not be the most important issues (aside from the scoring section in 1st link), but it shows that these kinds of statements have been made before. If they weren’t able to implement them, or are no longer planning to, then fine, at least update us. But we don’t receive any kind of communication on this subforum, making it hard to feel anything but ignored.
Tried doing this multiple times. It doesn’t even get declined from my card company (I called and asked).
It just gives me the following message
“Unfortunately an error has occurred. Please try again later.”
And I have…many times.Makes me think mabe I can’t use a debit/prepaid mastercard.
I’ve not been able to purchase gems for the past 24+ hours either, so it’s not just you, and I highly doubt it’s a prepaid card issue. (I’ve tried a normal Visa debit as well as PayPal, and neither have worked.)
I put in a ticket after seeing Gaile’s response to this thread (which has since been escalated), so now I’m just waiting to hear back. I suggest you also submit a ticket and see if they can resolve your situation.
I did notice if you swim without diving so you don’t see your action bar you won’t lose the stacks but yeah this is very annoying, has anyone tried building stacks under water? do you lose them if you hit land?
No, if you build them underwater you don’t lose them when you come back on land. It doesn’t make any sense.
The funny part about this change is that if you only have a stacking weapon on your underwater weapon, and get your stacks underwater, they don’t disappear when you come back on land. But when you flip that situation, the stacks you get on land disappear when you go underwater.
Tbh, I’m not sure HoD will continuously place second to FA if they play against FA for eight straight weeks. At some point, you get sick of the match up, and your morale plummets.
That’s pretty much how we feel about CD right now (and vise versa I’m sure). All but 2 of our matchups since January have included CD and it’s gotten really stale.
And then, you have the bandwagon people, that take a free transfer to get a silly reward. Let me tell you, HoD, the reward will not be worth the drama that is about to ensue. We experienced it on SBI last season, and you will experience it this season.
At least this time we had a stable community going into it, built up from our days in T8. Whether we can still hold it together after the season ends and the inevitable exodus hits remains to be seen, but the odds are going to be better this time around.
That’s the first time I’ve ever seen a quality GW2 video.
Oh hey, the official forums finally got interesting again!
This must be reported to IGN immediately! I’d offer to help you out in-game, but DH has accused me of using aimbot before, so my reputation may be a little sullied.
Careful, he’ll do it! And GoM will never be able to escape the consequences.
While account-bound World XP was originally intended to go live along with EotM, the highly anticipated change will not be making it into next week’s release. Carver said that ArenaNet is still working out some kinks with it and that the WvW team will have more information for players soon.

On the bright side, the queue system appears to have been fixed and displays your position in queue.

when there are overlapping fields, the oldest field gets the priority.
That doesn’t seem to be the case. If you lay an ele’s fire field on top of an ele’s water field and blast, you get might instead of healing.
I went in game to see if I could reproduce this with a friend. Surprisingly, out of my 1 and his 5+ blast finishers, we got one to give might (Eruption). We’ve tried this several times, and it seems to only occur if the blast goes off at the exact time the fire field goes down over the water field. If too fast/too slow, they’re all area healing. This was done using staff and Earth 2 -> Water 5 -> Fire 2.
Edit: Also managed to blast another ele’s fire field doing that same rotation using my arcane wave, so it isn’t just eruption.
Interesting. Our set up was one staff ele who laid the fields and me (the thief) using cluster bomb. We got might consistently (or so I would like to believe?), but I’ll have to go back and test this more thoroughly.
P.S. did you try the reverse order? Place a water on top of a fire and blast to see what happens.
We just tried the reverse using Earth 2 -> Fire 2 -> Water 3 and got healing if timed correctly. Did this both in and out of party, but it was only the two of us.
Edit for clarity: Ele #1 did Earth → Fire, and Ele #2 put the water field on top.

I dont get all of this…are you guys mad at [Mend] because you dont like them or because they left? From what i gather from looking at it, seemed they werent all too popular but the main reason for the hate is that they left the server. A “how dare you leave us even though we hate you” kind of thing, something [Buns] knows all too well.
[Mend] is a great guild and has many likable and skilled players, I for one am happy they decided to stay on IoJ when a lot of other guilds decided it was time to leave. Major props to them for being the only transfer guild to stay the entire season, even though we were matched up in impossible to win matchups, with much higher tiered servers.
Haven’t been on much this match up but im sure theres plenty of killing and being killed by either side, it just so happens that one side is the only one forum waring over it.
I also wonder what the previous parts of that conversation was but theres no need to post it all over these forums, from what im seeing of this matchup….[Mend] was right in leaving Hod.
Well you see, what had happened was (and this is from my perspective, I have no “insider” story on what might be factually correct in all this, but i believe most of it to be) Mend rightly deserved about 90% of the hate they got. They continuously bashed on people who didn’t play the way they did, which basically made them enemies with all of HoD’s rather decent sized roaming population at the time, and then bashed other guilds who didn’t do what they wanted, which from what I saw was sit in towers and then rely on siege to win against enemy PuG zergs. I really have no idea what their win/lose situation was in fights, but I hope to god with all the siege they used that they wiped those PuG zergs.
After getting fed up with this “hate”, which was mostly just stuff redirected back at them as Flappy during his time on HoD came off the most as quite the kitten bag for reasons states above, they basically said “Bye HoD we’re leaving because you’re bad and we’re so much better than you, blah blah, blah blah, screw you guys, etc.” and left. Resulting in the hate most of HoD has for them now.
Sure some of us may have taken things too far every now and then, but I don’t regret it one bit. And I’m enjoying wiping every single small/solo Mend group I see this week and it feels kitten good.
Pretty much this. One of the things missing in the post was the video Mend made bashing some HoD players using their real life photos.
Oh you mean the video that had screenshots of you guys telling us that you hope all of [Mend] gets cancer and dies?
hmmm.. no wonder why you would hate us!
can’t imagine why we would leave!
I don’t recall seeing that (not saying it didn’t happen), but I also agree that is taking it way too far and incredibly uncalled for.

…
Then Anet changed their word and introduced bronze league, and the multiple guilds that built us up didn’t want to stay and fight stronger servers (you have to at least respect Mend here for not jumping ship when the other guilds left).
…
Not really when they bandwagoned there in the first place 2 weeks before leagues were supposed to start. I do wish you guys luck in your rebuilding, though. I’m sure it was a huge blow to the IoJ community.
You can exit the launcher and it will resume where it left off the next time you open it. The only thing that resets is the percentage done value, which displays only for the current download session depending on how many files remain.
when will it be online
Both the login server and the main website seem to be back online. If you’re not able to log into the game, you may be experiencing another issue.
The login server was being attacked moments ago. Try again now and see if you’re able to get in game.

Note: I DIDNT ASK FOR CHANGING MY EMAIL. I didn’t click on the link becuz im scared to lose my account. Someone can verify this mailadress or this is real or not? :s For the rest i have mails about the edge of the mists (beta etc…) thats ok.
For the Edge of the Mists registration, you should have also received one stating to disregard that email as it is part of the process. Unfortunately, that’s the only one of the emails that seems to be getting filtered out as spam, so make sure you check there for it. If it wasn’t sent around the same time as the EotM emails, I’d contact support.
I believe the ratings used in the example weren’t the most up-to-date. For more accurate numbers, I’d take a look at Ken’s post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/matchups/Who-would-you-like-to-face-next-week/page/10#post3367752.
Somebody give this guy a medal.
Guys, quick! New PvE content! HoD is vulnerable! Now is the time to strike!
Lol nope Darkhaven is a PvE server. We’re doomed x.x
I bet we can hold our LA waypoints longer than you!
HoD wants you! …to take our stuff in EB.
Given that we’re nearing the last 24 hours of the season, and there are some players who have not completed the meta achievement, we wanted to offer this to FC and KN. From now until reset, everything in EB is up for grabs. No defending, no upgrading, no siege wars, just capping. This doesn’t mean we want it to turn into some boring karma train, though. We want to turn EB into a giant open-field war. Everyone gets achievements, everyone gets loot bags, and we all get some much needed practice with coordination. (This does not apply to the Borderlands.)
I believe Devon has been in talks with a few commanders from both FC and KN earlier in the week about doing this, but we wanted to advertise it here to try and get maximum participation.
So if you still need your SM caps, now is your chance! Let’s turn this last day into a massive bloodbath and have a blast!
I don’t see a problem here. This is what’s commonly known as “pipelining” in the computer business, where you start work on a second job well before the first one is completely done.
When you have large teams, with individual team members specializing in small parts, this is just how things need to be done if you don’t want to have a lot of team members sitting idle most of the time.

Except that we were promised a summary before moving on.
…
This is a great example as to why any sort of reply needs to be thought of carefully. I am only using the quotes you provided, but nowhere in there did I see any sort of promise being made. The community often has a tendency to read too far into developer responses and make too many assumptions based on what was written.
I’m sorry, BG did it first, with 57 golems
yet no one is clapping… why do you think that is?
And no one is clapping here – why is that, o’wise one?
our opposing server posted a thread just to give us props….. ???
we did it to a server that outnumbers us almost 24/7 and both sides had a ton of fun. when BG did it it would probably just salt in someone’s wounds and for the purpose of gluttony which is why nobody gives a kitten.
We did it to JQ, a server which matches us in population, and it was all in good fun.
…
Took 3 hours to build it one of our commanders worked on it for ages. He also kept them refreshed for about another 3 hours waiting for people. That is the maximum number you can get in a bl
Yeah, we were trying to figure out when you’d attack back around 5-6 eastern. Knew something big was coming with that many Omegas being built.
Any and all servers in Bronze league. Rebuilding the communities there is a daunting task, and the people who take on those challenges don’t get near the amount of credit they deserve.
I hope it’s a stack of Omega blueprints. They’re just too kitten expensive right now.
HoD > Blackgate. You guys have hella coordination. Really enjoying my stay!
Yet they tanked silver league and have the numbers to qeue all maps and on top of that even a tier 1 transfer we got at Deth said this : “Wtf I haven’t seen these numbers since tier 1, that is a tier 1 blob…”
Well, our tier 1 transfer said you guys have a tier 1 mega blob. I mean, that’s like double what your guy said!
They must really crack the whip in that guild huh? Like slave labor or something.
All labor in HoD is done by children. Except the whipping.

We can already do naval combat. You know that little boat in Bay? :P
We’re ready for you. Let’s do this!
