To be honest, I really don’t see a problem in making it all account bound. People still go WvW or HOT maps there regardless of the HP or proofs. I don’t think being concerned of dead maps is an issue. Look at Dry Top, look at Silverwastes… dead and not really much way of hero points to be found. Anet are doing nothing about that.
I feel it boils down to content and what is needed at the time for farming and event popularity. It don’t matter a toffee if its one toon or not, its one person sitting behind the screen working away on the maps. The only real difference is going in on a character on a HOT map, with no elite and gimping yourself for the x amount of time, while you fight uplevelled NPCs that really were designed with combat using elite form in mind ( thus the irony).
As for the argument of people levelling elites in wvw faster with account bound proofs, … I really am at a loss behind that argument. If its not a kittening about unlevelled people in WvW, now its all to do with people leveling elites faster? Seriously ?
End of the day, the same work has to be put into it by the same person.
Besides… Anet gave away WvW badges like candy and people did not have to set foot in WVW, just had to wait for achievement chests. No real difference as far as I am concerned.

Because it’s like playing a game of Monopoly by yourself with no other players. You can cheat the dice, buy every property on the map, steal from the bank and all with no penalty. If you ever played a real game of Monopoly and you don’t end up in a fight, then you are not doing it right. Hence WvW should be the same, you take your chances on even settings and you see if you win or lose.
As long as these cutscenes can be skipped, I swear every time I have to go though that kitten Mordremoth death scene , I do this…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s
So HOT Hero points are soul bound, Proof of heroics… soulbound. I currently have 110 unspent hero points sitting doing absolutely nothing on a necro and 50 more on another because they are fully levelled. Same for time on WVW as i have fully leveled characters participating in WvW and I cannot utilize these Proof of Heroics as I would like to.
Would it not be better to have Hero points and Proof of Heroics account bound, so we don’t have to drag the same content over multiple toons and get the best use of these points?
Not sure what people feel about these hero points being tied as they are… so I guess opening the subject up for debate.

I really don’t invest in outfits and only really use them as a shell for fugly armor I have bought using wvw tokens. One of the things I like to see in GW is when people spend a lot of time and effort to mix and match and find corresponding dyes to work to get a great all over look.
Its far too easy to farm COF, cover yourself in flames and hop around WvW as a target beacon for all longbow rangers. Its actually a lot harder to create a great individual look.
One of the biggest pet hates I have in GW2, are massive skirts masquerading as medium/light armor “pants” that you could hide two sumo wrestlers under. They are not pants, they are skirts. Thus when gemstore armor comes out, if its good and I can customise with sensible or great looking armor pieces, I invest in a purchase.
Saying that, I too would rather gemstore give us individual armor parts to buy over sets that can be worn by all armor classes, because sometimes the designs can look really poor or fixed to certain armor classes.
I cant say I have ever seen any armor set that was not 100% great, if i could mix and match them without a need for light, medium and heavy armor classifications, I would buy them and get more use of them across all my toons.
A good example of this is when the Aetherblade sets came out, light armor looked great and the medium… well lets say it was nowhere as well designed as the light armor option. Therefore a light armor set that would have suited medium armor class engineers was missed out.
So yeah I rather multi character armor sets over outfits anyday

Awesome, I will have a look for that also, if you beat me to it that would be fantastic if you could repost that link . Thank You
OOOH that sounds pretty cool, would you have any issues in developing this program for other musicians because it sounds really good.
What I would like to see is the possibility of GW2 opening up the software to include some sort of USB to midi connection, so you can actually play these instruments using inexpensive controller musical keyboards. Seeing they frown on the use of Macro’s, this would open up another world to instruments inworld.
As proficient on piano as I am, I cannot for the life of me play on computer keys, its totally alien as a concept and could never get my fingers to get used to playing musical notes in this way

Hm, not that I can think of. There’s at least one for every other race, but I’m not recalling any charr. It’s probably because sexuality (straight, gay, or otherwise) doesn’t really come up much in game, so there’s really no reason to assume charr culture is anti-gay.
Of course, we’d have an example if Logan and Rytlock would just profess their love for each other :P
Bromance… makes the world a better place, even if it is furry Bromance…right?
That aside though, sexuality has come up a lot in GW, we have the Marjory/Kasmeer love affair which is lesbianism no matter what Anet choose to say it is in a Disney fashion. They touched in transgender issue as well (ok nor sexual context per se but is confirming on abandoning birthright sexual orientation for the opposite)
As a gay man myself , I think seeing Anet have given us the Kasmeer/ Marjory love story, I think its actually high time Anet DID create a homosexual male couple to equal the balance. Because to be totally honest, I looked on the female gay couple as a thrown off figment off some chauvinist straight mans fantasy. Straight from something you might find in a Charlie Sheen autobiography. It was totally cliche and cheap rather than a representation of addressing homosexuality in Tyria.
Modern media has enough examples of men in bars talking about the utmost fantasies and it would be a high percentage it will involve two girls.
Is it more acceptable in society to approach homosexuality with two females over two males because females don’t have “bits”?
Hence I cover a “Disney” representation of approaching such subjects.
I mean its a debate that could go on for sure, but yeah I am all for more positive gay male relationship examples in Tyria. Just please, not Lord Faren. We need normal positive examples, not self obsessed pretty boys whose only worry in life is the hairdresser :P
If I wanted that, I could just log into Youtube .

I feel you, and in general agree with you. i think however that one reason can be hidden inside your last statement.
If i can play VB and gain tons of parts, and can convert them to AB or TD currency unrestricted, there is no real reason to play those other maps. that could lead to even faster dead zones.
Of course, there is fun, specific maps rewards, rare drops from map chests etc. etc. to play there. Besides, i havent really come across really empty zones. Most TD event chains can be done with 3 people, and when you get close to Meta Event it can be filled up fast with some taxi’s.
Hi Faab,
Yeah that is a good point. My biggest issue just now is that there seems to be very little party opportunities via LFG taxis to these maps, especially in Dragon Stand. I don’t know if its the current bugs on that map, the fact you need at least 15 people to be interested to start it. The fact that maybe the events are perhaps too hard and too time consuming for their own good? The fact Tangled is perhaps too confusing a map for people to navigate to even get there that’s putting people off?
I am just not sure and not meaning to veer this subject to another topic, but for sure gaining the currency needed in other maps is incredibly difficult .
But thanks for that insight, I will keep looking for taxis and hope I get lucky
I am trying for the life of me, to work out the reasoning behind the 24 hour time-gate on this item. Currently I am finding that locating raiding parties on euro servers (for both Auric and Dragon’s Stand), vary from floating assorted people to dead.
On occasions we do have raiding parties on both these maps but normally once or twice a day in appearance, which make me wonder where people are if megaserver is supposed to direct us to full maps.
Whatever the reason for these empty maps is another question, however it seems Verdant has the most activity and I join this map to level my mastery points, collecting airship parts along the way.
After amassing a healthy amount of airship parts and as a later lucky find of the Converter, I am bewildered to why the converter is on a timer and more so it’s really low converter amount per a 24 hour period.
If there is an issue of dead HoT maps or one in particular that seems to be more popular than others, would it not make sense to remove the 24 hour gate on the converter so people can get the currency from other maps in a decent time?
This is especially topical and sensible to lift this gating, when player numbers on other Magus falls map sections are often dead; thus preventing people from getting the required items for ascended weapon collections etc from the associated Magus Vendors. Converting 25 airship parts to Ley line crystals (as an example) seems a little on the stingy side for a 24 hour wait.
If there is a reasonable reason for this I can understand, but I cannot see anything exploitable about it. If a person grinds to get map currency and simply wants to exchange for another (especially due to poor population event coordination), they should be able to without a penalty.

Two Handed axes would look great for Vikingish Norny characters.
I would love a poison blowdart for Ranger/ Necro types – Its in the game already so don’t see much work to shoehorn it in as a weapon offering.
But before they think about putting in 2 handed axes, I think they need to realize just how poor one handed axe is and sort that out before reeling another weapon in-game.
But yeah… poison darts. If that ever comes in, I wear my Tiki mask and swing from vines in nothing but my underwear.

I have an Asura toon almost always on the JP (and by standards I am terrible at it but got a little better as time goes on), I manage ok now. As Deathreign suggested… pan with right mouse button held down. Other tips are to try using the Gingerbread path as its shorter, if you get the opportunity to jump alone at the exploding present stage do so ( otherwise wait).
Bigger characters like Norns and Charrs block your view as a little character when they stand over you, so avoid jumping in tandem with them. They also tend to knock the next present early before the next person and thus blowing your hard earned trip I find. Big clumsy galoots :P
Keep trying though and good luck !!

I love the game, rewards are terrible though. Between that and the fact people leave the losing teams early means even poorer rewards for those in a less populated team makes mayhem suck so bad.
I agree also that games should have access to the same equal rewards no matter what players choose to play.
What I really found unfair to me though, is some classes traits within trait lines are never turned off in game, so thieves can stealth on dodge, 25% movement can move faster etc, while these poor classes who have to suffer basic yet important utilities as signets and kits get a really raw deal. As they get turned off due to the mayhem weapon game design . That is hardly fair to those classes reliant on utility signets and elixirs for movement buffs etc

Posting on any venue is something the Devs do voluntarily. Except for a select few whose job it is to post, I would assume.
It might encourage those volunteers to post more often, if there was less complaining about where they do post. Just sayin’…
I don’t use Reddit, no idea how it works. But, seems that most important Dev interactions eventually make their way here. Same with Twitter and Facebook.
ArenaNet doesn’t force their employees to share on social media; it may seem a bit much to those that do volunteer to have to post their thoughts/feedback/answers on multiple platforms.
That’s not how the world works, you don’t neglect your customer base because you feel that they are “complaining too much”, a good business does the exact opposite and responds to their customers.
If employees of a company don’t have the social or communication skills to respond to their customer base no matter what state they are in, then that company has lots of problems that need to be fixed.
You don’t ignore your official communication with your customers and go do PR on a 3rd party source hoping you don’t have to deal with unhappy customers.
Customers give a business money, it’s the business job to make sure their customers are happy, that’s common sense.
Pretty much agreed with all of this, complaining and aggrieved customers are not a pain, they are the people who care for your product and simply unhappy when customer interest (through ideas and critique), are not met to better the product they enjoy. But I have seen this sort of issues before in other areas, complaining customers are punished while fanboys and suck-ups who state this game is the land of milk and honey and rose tinted spectacles get cupcakes and other goodies.
Such is life :P
Haha loved it, good choice of music too. Love your vids !!
If anything either deathly chill needs to have slightly more damage. To get higher numbers necros have to give up a lot of sustain and as they have very little in defenses, the first rule should be for a necro to have hard hitting condie ticks from the go. Necros are actually no where engineer bursts with similar gear so they really should have more not less. As is said before as chill is more plentiful so is better to take advantage of that over fear

You can auto consume the drinks by clicking on the stacks. Also it’s like 700 gold which is a drop in a hat considering most people straight up bought their legendary after 2 weeks of farming in sw.
Your also not farming the JP- you do it 3 times. It’s guild wars 2- welcome to jumping puzzles. Jumping puzzles are one of the major fundamentals of this game ever since release. Every new map has introduced new JP’s- The new legendary collections even require them for you to progress. So complaining about those- It’s like why do you even play this game considering they are a foundation of this game.
Also- suggesting anyone to convert money into gold via the gem store- the exchange rate is so low- Why would anyone ever do that? Just play the game- all the new HoT zones are super profitable- just sell everything- Frac dailys take maybe 30-45 minutes tops and you make tons of raw gold, and you can just sell everything else.
If these shoulders are something that you want, it’s very obtainable. It’s not like you won’t have the time to buy the drinks after wintersday ends.
I think the problem here is you guys are farming these holiday events for presents. Do other things- far more profitable things as i suggested- and just buy the presents. It’s not worth the time outside of the achievements.
Yeah, JP are my bane (ugh,I am really horrid at them. I can get through one, but it’s a task) and though I don’t look sideways at anyone for their playstyle/choices.. 700g for these shoulders isn’t a choice I’d make for me. I’d rather pull an Ally Sheedy from the Breakfast Club and make my own darn snow effect!
Hahah , I would actually love that . Man I loved that movie so much
First of all Thank You for starting up this thread. I think its super for someone to do what Anet should be doing, using “OFFICIAL” forums for what is important and should be OFFICIAL statements. I find it incredible that when a company states that honest and unsanctioned communication with customers is damaging for the company, well kind of says it all really. As Josh quoted “If the company that pays my paycheck and lets me work on my own crazy pet projects like SAB tells me to resist a difficult urge to interact with players because I’m jeopardizing the company so be it. I’m told I can still post, but much much less, and I need to get my posts approved first”
I read Josh’s blog and I am glad Texasranger graciously posted it up here to read.
It has been a long time now (and I touched on similar issues in another post), that I had the distinct feeling that a lot of what is said and done by developers are often crushed or stepped upon by a higher ranking official . The reasons behind that were due to some sort of company policy over personal wants and needs over what is good for its customer base.
I never felt Josh ever let us down nor should have ever felt bad about dropping numbers of players in GW2 activities. It was never the content that was in question but the string of bad moves made to the game through upper team decision making and included in the game as player improvements “grind”. That and not listening to the issues and needs that forum community were suggesting to make the game better.
Josh’s post was perhaps the most insightful view we have had from a honest source and how he felt. I give a lot of respects to Josh for that, he has said it as it is.
When I read Gaile’s post about “meaty” info, I had to laugh. If you consider “meaty” as Spam, which I do feel some of the posts that appear on official forums are.
Still waiting on the Wintersday feedback is a good example, but I guess we wait for after the holidays to see what the feedback result entails.
And for those still in the need of something meaty, please indulge

That much is true, no smoke without fire though!! Everything from the complaints of poor class balancing to the recent 10k drinks scandal has a place somewhere and all have links somewhere.
There have been far too many facepalm decisions made within this game in the past two years, that had it been a company creating anything not gaming related, would have gone down like a lead brick. Some have been very unfair to the casual community, if team developers cared as much as it is suggested, then many of these moves would never have seen light of day. Yet they have!!
On the point on leaving employees cannot be read into it, this is true also to a point.Word however does travel fast in any industry as I am sure you know well, people learn from the mistakes of others especially when hushed up internal gossip comes into play. So much so that ones job and pay check can afford people to swallow ones own moral values.
I suppose a better way to explain it is that you have two kinds of people in the world, you will have the ones that have morals over money. You have the others who will happily take a paycheck no matter how unhappy they are.
I used to be the latter, being in a job I hated for 10 years due to a boss who was a total tyrant. But I was stuck cause I had car/ house payments etc. These days being a little older, I have conditioned myself to ask more questions and now self employed, can be my own boss and be the boss I wished I could have had.
Not everyone has that luxury unfortunately, I could stick two fingers up on that boss at the end of the day . But just because there is no mass exodus, does not mean there is not dictatorship workplace scenario.

It bewilders me that anyone could read a short article on an MMO site and think that they could make any sort of informed critique of skilled professionals working for a multinational corporation whose jobs and careers rely on them making good decisions!
This is the big question and only one can give the real answer.
1- Really are they making the right decision?
2- Are they being forced ( and by whom) to create what on the outset looks like constant poor decisions.
The third question is not to do with the team itself but of the people who hold the strings, namely the team leaders who say yes or no to the development decisions.
The MMO site I am sure could have given more of a story if they were given the info to do so. But this is possibly not a coincidence either, as no employee will whistleblow on a gaming company as big as NCSoft or Anet, because they want that resume reference to move on when they are let go or leave on own accord.
There have already been reports of major team developers leaving Anet over the past few years with very little explanations to why, other than a short and sweet leaving statement. I am sure if they were given free opportunity to talk of why they leave , we would all see a very different view in which to make decisions.
In my own opinion, I feel the integrity of the employees of Anet might not be as rosy as we think. I feel there are major issues not just about the game itself but more so that they cannot have a view or make a decision above a team leader, who may or may not have their own interests at heart over the game or company.
As I said before, money does not bring loyalty, people can move from job to job as they wish. But that reference and believe me , big companies can put threats on ex employees with a " you diss us, you never work in this town again" unwritten clause scenario. Until someone does come clean on their employment frustrations regarding a company and its hidden agenda on company policy, terrible boss etc, we will never know. However small articles offer a little bit of journalism that prompt people to explore little bits of information to create a bigger picture.
The OP made a valid point and was offering a point for people to think a little further. I see nothing bad about that .

The 10k drinks was a ridiculous amount and would love to see the logic behind that decision. How did the conclusion come between the maths that went into the RNG vs Hours played to gain the gifts to get the required drinks amount, eg… how many repetitive sessions of bellringing, snowflake jumping, snowball throwing (which I enjoyed the most of all Wintersday events) would a developer recommend to get as many gifts as possible within the Wintersday season (without buying them)
If anything I do feel if 10k was considered to be acceptable, then all events should have offered the same karma accumulation chances as JP and bell ringing. This way there is equal opportunities to all players who play better in some events than others, this would have been much fairer. Some people still cant get into JP cause people are not leaving it and farming it all hours of the day. If all events had karma opportunities there would have been equal spread of all activities throughout Wintersday.

I recently read this article in Fortune. http://fortune.com/2015/11/24/areanet-investing-in-esports/
If this is true , 200.000 dollars each season is a massive amount to be sinking into PVP cash prizes. I would love to see the figures of what percentage of GW players are benefiting from this amount. That is a massive waste of money especially for a game that’s reporting losses.
It would be far more beneficial to use this money to make the game more exciting and rewarding for its PVE/ WVW player base, making rewards better for them. Hiring extra staff to sorting out the bugs that have hung for years, developers actually taking professional and not personal preferences to class balancing, listening to its user base etc . But then, I don’t understand Anets/ NCsoft view on marketing – it’s head in the sand approach is really damaging IMO, this is why people are leaving to move to other games that offer better communication and player satisfaction.
Not that I disagree with PVP cash prizes but i just think this is money ill spent and more so when PVE players are having to fork over gem to gold conversion, to get items when the RNG is so blooming poor who NCsoft are just feeding into PVP esports. The logic is just mental , just keep the PVE crowd happy as this is the main block of gemstore funders, create easier and better rewards. For example, the recent recipe changes made ascended armor crafting harder than it should be, it actually punished new players with more grind and also stabbed its existing player-base with harder changes.
Everyone must remember that one kid who used to move the goalpost jerseys to cheat to make the ball easier to catch. NCsoft/ Anet is that kid and really they can’t claim falling profits is not due to players migrating to other games due to such ill thought moves.
The logic is simple, keep the PVE ground troops happy and then you can feed your high flyers, without the ground troops the high flyers will simply move on to the next cash prize give away. No brand loyalty when cash is concerned but your run of the mill ordinary gamer is there for as long as the game is good and rewards good gameplay.

I think 1 to 2 k drinks would have been far more fair, considering the drop of presents to activities and then the percentage of drinks appearing in Wintersday Gifts. I just don’t like how Anet have gone with this, it has created a gold grind with everyone selling things of value cheaply to get to this insane number of drinks for this shoulder piece.
I know why Anet have done this, its to balance the cost of a “one off payment” game which HOT was the first break in the “one off payment” ideal. Pure to the point people will get fed up grinding to get to this and thus we have people buying gold via gemstore to buy these presents. I understand some things should take skill, commitment to go into dungeons etc to get certian items. I also agree a bit of grind time etc to get something decent, but 10k and even 5k drinks is just really excessive and Anets RNG has always been terrible odds.
If anything I think Wintersday should be about motivating the GW community to take part in things, but the drinks cost is pure and simple forcing many to go into gem store to gold purchase. I don’t agree with that personally, especially when Anet already have many HOT buyers and where Christmas money should be for real life family and friends this time of year. I just find this ol Ebeneezer Anet sadly.
I agree with Angel.6085 100 % on this. I found today’s Mordrem run equally disappointing, if this is an early taster of what is to come with HoT, I am really questioning the pre-purchase. In my own opinions, I have questioned for a long time the validity of Anet trying to squeeze every last drop of funds via Gem Store via its poor percentage of reasonably valuable items to Black Lion Keys/ chests. I have questioned the poor percentages of RNG but to have this… another game content launch, no loot from creatures, no real reward at the end, creatures melting easily (I thought the point of future content was to make healing power and toughness a valued stat, ( zerk zerk again huh?)
The last is I had seven stacks today and got nothing. Ok so end of the day its a game but really… when are you going to start rewarding players (both in PvE and WvW) a little better than has been?
Not knocking the PvP Cthulhu button here but again, the prize money being dished out for the few and you can’t even reward the majority of players with a decent RNG percentage or even reasonable loot to game time rewards seriously sucks. Time for a priority check I think.

I second Akuni.8604 post. Gramophone I love but to me it follows the same issue as the Super Boombox, the volume is way lower than any of the instruments on sale and to be honest is virtually inaudible. For a gem store purchase at 600 gems, I would have expected and hoped an item to be louder so it can be heard clearly, especially as living world areas have all sort of louder sound effects from the likes of free costume contest tonics etc . It would be nice to have such music players to have louder volume.
PS Akuni, I smiled when you mentioned LP’s. Being a huge vinyl junkie I appreciated that one. So Anet lets have less tinny ipod sound and more volume cranked to 11 through massive subs please
( 11 being the reference to Spinal Tap, how many remember that movie? )

Clearing out my inventory yesterday I was debating what to do with my increasingly shortened bank slots (of which out of my 8 slots) are becoming overloaded with Dragon Ore and Empyreal Fragments, to the point it’s limiting what should be an ample bank expansion.
The main issue is the drop rate for these items seem to come in the shed-load, yet there is only a limited amount of things I can do with them. I know we can make ascended items and I have been doing that however, the other items needed to create ascended stuff is more “grindy” . Therefore I have found that we attain dragon ore and Empyreal Fragments quicker than we can amount Bloodstone Dust and the other mats we need to craft.
I recently crafted my Maudrey and Maudrey 2 pet and was surprised that a decision was made for the plant to eat bloodstone dust (which is a far more common requirement for recipes) over the other two ascended mats, which are more abundant yet limited in avenues we can use them. This leaves a pile of Empyreal fragments and Dragon Ore sitting in inventory doing nothing.
I would like to trash them but I know as soon as I do, Anet might change the goalposts months later to introduce something else to utilize the resource materials for something. So has anyone heard of plans in the near future to do something with these or are they forever doomed to be an item to fill bank slots with this over abundant material .
Could we not just -
1 -Have an option so Maudrey 2 can munch through any of these mats?
2 -To actually trade these in the raw state for something very nice and useful back
3- Maybe use them in chef materials for updated foods ( for example getting chef to 500 )
So do I trash or keep? What is everyone else doing with these mats? At the moment I keep my Omnomberry Ghosts in another bank in fear that the little blighters will start munching after midnight. I also fear soon I will be at gem store for 10 bank slots to keep the increasing pests with room to forever continue their devilish multiplying antics. Help !!!

Coglin… lets have some time out here. It’s not a point of what the engineer is or is not, the fact of the matter is that its direct damage is in nowhere near on par to what will keep up with balance right now, be it PVE bosses, wvw or whatever. I do keep up with fact and whats going on, saying it was a ranting post chaff full of accusation is wrong. The date was wrong my opinion was not, how can an opinion be wrong?
2- Anet can see my proof in the account ledgers in what I spend, that’s proof enough.
The point I was making was this. No matter if a person spends money on gem store is not important. The fact I am making is some people will spend a degree of real money to make up what they cannot make in dungeons, simply because classes like engineer cannot pull enough damage to get a decent loot pull. I sit on 188% magic find, I have boosters, I have guild booster etc which ramp that up and no matter how many dungeons I do, I do not get the same results as I do with my warrior. That’s not an opinion , that’s a fact. If they cannot make the gold or loot in the game because the loot system is shared via damage % then they are really lost. That was the point I was getting at.
3 – If bombs work for you I really am in awe, however in my experience bombs actually have done very little to the outcome. I will explain if I am so allowed to do so. Firstly In my experience I find that bombs do very little to the outcome, they are easily dodged. Added to the fact that if we trait into zerk gear and power / precision traits because it is needed to provide any sort of big damage, in the result we lose valuable sustain. In WVW it suffers badly, we cannot zerg as we are lost in the aoe, so what is the engineers actual role is it stand mid-ranged but with this comes the issues. Mid ranged it cannot kite for safety nor do big numbers to pull off a bomb in an “in and out” tactic. In laymans terms it cannot balance a good damage to survival ratio to cope without investing into several armor stats to suit a particular role. Which I may add is a luxury a few chosen melee classes can get off with, surviving on one build, one set of armor and get really good results.
4- Of course I will agree with you it is possibly my build, I have not really found the one that is a true swiss army knife. But considering engineers are not a widely played class , I can see why that is. It is because they do not perform a particular function as well as other classes. This is why perhaps turret builds have become more popular of late. My opinion (I will stress opinion) is people do struggle with this class, mainly because they cannot cope with the onslaught that is handed to them through several classes that really facemelts them quickly.
Playstyle is also I agree may also be half the problem the class faces, It is perhaps too difficult for less results, the skill set is far too high for it to be enjoyed fully.
So this was the point I made that rockets is being allowed to home into targets would perhaps aid the class to being more friendlier even to the casual player. I have little issues playing necro than i do on an engineer, simply because even with a lack of stability and stun break, my conditions can pull a fight and I feel more part of a support than i do with engie at this moment
This is because of various factors, decent vitality, pretty huge condition application, the ability to kite and keep people at a distance, transfer conditions etc so team-mates can recover while I take the flack . Same for my warrior condition healing build, now that i move to stances and not signets, with a 400 heal tick over, massive application of bleeds at 135 tick overs. I have plus regen and 34.000 armor I am in a great position. Even with a condition build my bow does better damage than my zerk rifle without crits, really that is insane. Not that I don’t love my warrior for it, the issue is in the engineer and not in the warrior itself. Yes two totally different classes but it gives a round collaborative point to sit and weight up facts and figures to achieve an across the board opinion. As my 11 year old nephew mildly put it " That engie is **** compared to those other classes." Kids don’t lie, they are brutally honest.
Summing up – Again I will highlight, this is not a word for word online battle or irrational claims. Views are not irrational, views come from a multitude of experiences and outcomes to build an opinion. Nobodies opinion is wrong – we may aim to disagree but we have to respect peoples points and empathize as best we can to form a universal position facing a situation. Nothing is solved by “its not me , it must be you”. The date was wrong, you can have your little victory on that. But the across the board collated data on class balances do not lie. And there I will rest my case.

@ coglin
Because there was an update, we can nitpick on the day sure but there was one for sure. The end of the matter is there was one, the day of the week is frankly un-important and nit-picking. I frankly don’t spend my time nitpicking on the second for second to the calendar workings of Anet, I am too busy working, family, job etc to care.
I only know from the details I see in a game that I spend good money on per month in Gemstore for my personal enjoyment, is now seriously not performing to a percentage of classes in-game of which my engineer is one and seriously could do better. The crux of the matter is there are viable claims made that seriously hamper the engineer. In not one reply have you actually seen to the agreement that these handicaps place the engineer further down the balance scale.
The point I am making ( despite the date, hour and second) is my money and my time and effort ( as well as other peoples) is not any less or un-important as one who may not spend money at all, grind for a set of zerker gear for a melee class and a great sword, farm and get the loot while some poor person on an engie/ ranger is struggling with a pistol / bow, a mediocre damage output because of range and the " range is less risky approach". A series of warning signs to let people know they are coming with an attack with a bomb, a few second delay. Rockets that fire into seriously nothing because mobility and stun breaks and power/crit attack numbers of some mellee classes are frankly obscene. Where melee classes can also have conditions stacking as well as hard hitting power/ crit ( considering where there is already a 25 limit on condition stacks). Where does that leave condition based classes ? They certainly cannot replicate the same power to crit number on melee as they are not given the means to do so. Even when they do in the case of ranger it is still next to nothing on a warrior/ guardian. Where is the justification for them- that is the 65 dollar question. Yes they can re-roll, yes they can take another class into a dungon. Answer – why should they? They spend the same gold as a melee class, they use the same armor, runes , sigils etc. The issue is and always will be this “range = less risk” which is just codswallop.
We are all fully aware that every build has to have a counteract, but the issue is range is suffering because some melee classes has pretty much everything on a plate, stealth, mass movement, stunbreaks , gap closers pretty much at the touch of a button where engineers have to fight with kits, time delays etc. Bosses have mass AOE, gap closers, ranged rifle shots/ knockdowns that not even ranged will save you. In fact in all honesty the nearer you are to the majority of bosses the less risk you have, simply because of the attack mechanics. So no sorry – range = less risk is not viable. Homing rockets as I was going state ( might) be part of a help to that, better bomb damage ( absolutely) .
I am not in any way slating melee classes, I have a few on the go that i like to use, I am just being honest. The days of range being less risk is simply not true at all and desperately needs a rethink . This is why engies are hard countered by most right now as well as long cooldowns (especially on turrets).
@ draxynnic.3719 – Yeah I agree with you and I see your point , I also have to agree with Dirame, if this was far more apparent for engineer it would be far more interesting gameplay. So far I don’t see much effect on traits such as coated bullets, the Firearms tree is a pretty awful tree to invest in anyways and I would be surprised even more so if a huge % of engies actually took this because 1- the damage on pistols is very bad to begin with and 2 – well I already commented on 1. You can fire multiple rubber bands at an assailant coming at you with a knife , end of the day its still a rubber band. Engies need more ways to stop escaping high mobility classes, better damage might be part of that. Sure we have tricks but atm its like hacking into a ship hull with a sucker gun, lets have real damage please and ways to fully counteract already advantageous, hard critting, fight resetting, high mobility classes .

Yes the patch stated rockets were to track targets in the next patch
This is my point. Your making demands of what you expected skills to do when the patch has not even occurred.
Also, they reworded the name of the pistol number one skill because it was causing player confusion as well.
Yes because they were supposed to have been placed last Friday, when we had the patch change that is what was expected. Obviously it was a insignificant living world kitten and thus that was all that was changed. I stand corrected
(edited by mzt.3270)
Thanks Anymras.5729 – Apologies, I stand corrected on the changes I see. I was under the impression last Fridays build was going to install these changes. Then I guess we wait and see how this draws engineers to coming nearer to drawing closer to game balance.
@coglin.1867 – Yes the patch stated rockets were to track targets in the next patch. I guess they could re-word them as homing missles for the sake of retentiveness.
I am fully aware what a rocket is thank you kindly, you get both unguided and guided rockets, which as you clearly state are dependent on the technology of the launching device and internal hardware/ software. Indeed rockets are fired from a turret, therefore we have a “device”.
Stating a rocket as a simple propelled projectile does not hold water. That’s like saying a bomb is a free-falling explosive dropped from a height, when technology history has shown us that various type of bomb , some of which had very advanced tracking systems for the time were employed during warfare. The Fritz X being a classic example.
As for In-game scenario, tracking would be important due to the “over zealous” natures of the mobility of certain classes. If we wanted to get technical over why a rocket should not be a tracking projectile, then perhaps we should also perhaps consider a great many scenarios we take for granted in GW2. In a world where thieves can vanish in open air for an indistinct amount of time without any technological aid of stealth. Where a warrior can pretty much escape for a huge distance with the aid of a sword skill, (not rocket boots a sword skill !!!) Should we REALLY get into the nitty gritty of “realism”.?
However on the note of ranged = less risk, I really do not think so. Melee have more than ample means for escape , considering ranged classes have to spec to get any sort of projectile range back ,not that it makes a difference as the amount of mobility ranged classes get is beyond the reach of trajectory range, even traited.
As for THEIR attitude stating ranged is less risk, that don’t hold much either. In a game that pretty much the only viable armor in a dungeon is Zerkers, don’t you think (as many others do), that the game vision is a total mess and that’s only the beginning of a long line of pointers to tear the game vision and design apart.
Just because a creator or developer of a situation or invention runs something, does not make it viable or in this scenario “make sense”. It depends on onlookers scrutinizing and questioning actions, who you ask and whose opinion is stated. Not everyone will agree with a vision, statement or action. I’m just grateful some people question and highlight inconsistencies to push issues to make things fairer for all. After all if people never did that, could you imagine what sort of world we would be living in today. Some people take “liberty” far too face value.
As an example … Condie dependent builds are till sitting at 25 capped condie damage and wondering why high condies don’t reflect the quality of loot they get? ?? Ask more questions and push for answers … that’s the only way you get them. You don’t get them by accepting your lot but you can if you question more.
(edited by mzt.3270)
IT’s not the main reason trust me, and it’s not the only problem this class faces but unfortunately your post will be ignored by the masses as well as the developers while they continue their hype daze system of excluding the reality of the situation for more sales on already made armors in the stores (instead of news one but even then…)
Without improvements to the class beyond the occassional replacement of tooltips this class in PVE will remain mediocre at best eternally.
What they need is some new blood someone who understands how these weapons work in real life who is a fan of engineers and their militarized weaponry who can shake up the misconception that anything with a 2 handed sword can easily out
DPS a flame thrower, bombs, and chemical warfare devices (excluding any condition damage in that comparison) I suggested they get such a person hire them onto the team someone who was prior army but they didn’t listen then either.
This is actually true. I was testing the new and "improved " flamethrower today. For all the added so called 33%, it still lacks any viability as an AOE weapon because of various factors. One it fires in a cone as a flame thrower should do. Flamethrowers should work on the principle of burning and a lot of it. It is the only case I know of a flamethrower that acts on a principle of power and not the condition of burning as such. 1 second lick of burning is nothing to the wider scale of class conditions, even a power spec guardian can throw more burning than that. I certainly don’t see any great improvement, not when the likes of Eles various showers come into the debate.
Rockets were supposed to track and home into targets… I see no difference to the turret of old. Lastly bombs . Lol seriously… bombs should be our get in and out melee option , instead they have 2 second handicap delay ( massive in any gameplay), big red circles so people can be warned where they are being placed. So yeah bombs are not ranged, so why the massive handicap ?
But then the poor excuses of Anet and this lackadaisical attitude that ranged damage (guns , kits and bows) = more risk thus less damage is wrong and needs a rethink. It is the ranged classes that are being hard countered and not the other way around. If Anet graciously provided a negative damage food, where we already have 25 condition stacks, allow power based mellee weapons to create to create better conditions even when not specifying for condies. Yeah that’s pretty wrong.
All classes should be attributed properly to accumulate the best damage possible as this affects the loot system and its damage ratio % . This is why zerkers are favored and get the better share of dungeon runs. So before Anet talk about “build diversity”, it would be better for them to actually understand what weapons are and what they do , get the head out of the “ranged is less danger” nonsense and start creating better stats for classes that rely on such weapons. Otherwise give us all hammers , stuns and power traits and see some equal footing here.
Rest assured however, Anet protocol is selling a mess of a game to the Chinese, which pretty much is selling that mess onto an otherwise new and unaware gaming community. LOL that is until the they start to complain and find the same faults as we do. I wonder what they will do then?
(edited by mzt.3270)
Deso arent just unfriendly to low levels. I am level 80 and today, when i tagged their watergate on EB, they sent lots of players and just killed me.
LOl , nice comment, made me chuckle. Baruch are the same, tagged an ele on one to one, when she got help to finish me and she corpse jumped me. I tell you kids… they hate level 80s too LOL
1) WvW xp boosters – There needs to be an incentive for them. The ranks and abilities are nice but after you get so far there is nothing left to spend them on. To remedy this, and make those kinds of boosters more appealing, there needs a new WvW trait lines that don’t end but get progressively more expensive with rank points.. Things like a Gold Find %, MF %, etc. Also, it would help if there was a way to showcase your WvW rank to add more appeal.
2) Unique Commander Tags – By this I dont mean simply different colors, different color tags need to be in the game by default. Having different kinds of purchasable icons though, could be appealing. Ones like a dagger icon, Charr face icon, Quaggan face icon, guild emblem icon, basic symbols, cross bones, and so on.
3) Infinite Use Siege Reskin Potion – Simply different endless potions that give you a special buff for a few mins, that any siege site you throw down has a unique look to it corresponding to the potion. This doesn’t change the stats of the siege and it would still say if it’s reg or superior, it just looks different and might fire a different looking projectiles. The looks of the siege last until it despawns or is destroyed.
Something like this in terms of different looks.
This, there is no incentive for WVW ranking boosters when the majority of the rewards are relegated to green and the odd yellow item. Rewards should get better as you progress not worse.
NCSoft are the root of the problem, nothing will ever get sorted while these inconstant people jiggle the puppet strings
You could do worse than look at Piken as a server with potential for growth. Great community and lots of variety in playstyle.
i confirm this ….
these people know well how to blob !!!
Confirmed, Piken is a very good server. Don’t listen to the trash talk, I have been here since the game started and even with facing many hard opponents , we still can pull a trick or two. We have some superb commanders also – Victimizer and Moopy being my favorites. Pretty good community all round
Well all of this is really Anets issue, because if they actually did anything to address the issues in game enjoyability, they would sort out the balance for people to level characters quicker. Lets face it, PVE levelling is a PITA, it’s slow, it’s unrewarding in its loot, when you have covered the map on 3 characters its repetitive ( did I also mention slow?)
EOTM is better because if you get a good zerg going, you cover points that are fantastic for leveling. The only issue EOTM has is that blooming Overgrown ( Uberstacked should be a better name for that server ) is constantly the side that’s packed to an inch of its life, leaving the other sides undermanned. Of course they told us multi-server was going to combat that – well how facepalm is that ?
Year later Overgrowth / Uberrallybot is still the major server and if you don’t land lucky to be in there, you may as well go back to PVE because most of the time you don’t get further into the map without 12 vs 1 odds.
Personally I feel uplevels are no place for WvW , not because they should not be there but people expect it as a quicker way to level a character. ON a server like Deso which is currently stacked like setting concrete in a soda bottle, I am somewhat surprised the attitude against upscalers is a big issue, considering they have more people than most to aid the ant-run.
Upscalers in such a server would make no difference in that scenario and if anything would be similar to a karma Train in Frostgorge. In smaller servers who struggle against the gold league servers (yeah again awards for Anet not understanding balance) it is a different story and I might see why a commander would get a little upset in towing a pile of upscalers in his zerg as you are struggling to achieve targets as is. .
I don’t think Deso should be pinpointed for having rude people though, it’s the same everywhere else. You will always get ignorant and very aggressive people in MMO’s , you just have to play it cool, fight your corner and if you cant win -take it up with complaints.
Piken once had an issue with upstarts and rude ignorant people until the big servers left for bigger trophies. You still get the odd person who is fantastic at the game but lacking in social conduct and brains, to figure out why they they can’t just expect people to think as they think. Being a Scotsman myself , I have generations of cultural background to tell any upstart little “Numpty” who comes at me without thinking what they are about to do through, without a reasonable explanation and more so decent approach to learn some manners and life experience (which pressing buttons in a game won’t give you).
I have had a whole guild disbanded and members banned due to poor behavior on another server due to poor and very hostile reactions to other players. Not something I am proud of but my rights are important as well as other gamers (and they were idiots to start with XD ) Everyone has a duty to make the game fun for yourself and other players and it starts with your good behavior and good attitudes in-game.
This is a game and a game to be enjoyed. At the end of the day Anet really have much to think about in the finer details of player enjoyment ( which includes faster and more rewarding leveling) and negating factors that otherwise make them lose customers or worse, miss opportunities to gain more through negative experiences of others through player negativity. If you still have issues in Deso and if you are ever in Piken , you can look me up. I don’t normally take others into my little guild as we are all real life buddies, but we are super friendly, will help if needs be and always open for a good laugh. Just have a really cool name, our guild loves people to say “ooooh thats name is awesome”. Hope you find your way to a happier experience Rococo.

I would like to see more power to the engineer if anything before any weapons were introduced. Kits are all fine but the tool kit I really can’t stand. WE have weapons, weapons are in the game so why should any build be dependent on kits if we wish more build diversity. Build diversity cannot happen if 50% of its weapon choice is limited and subject to poor damage variables. There is also degree of time delay to kits which are often life or death situations. by the time the kit is swapped and skill is pressed, another class already has its secondary skills there ready and placed by the time a kit is opened. So yes if we were to have new weapons we would need damage ramped up to diversify builds. Our condition damage on pistols are awful, even with 1600 CD damage they are no where on par to where they should be to be in some sort of standing table.
But on the subject of weapons I would like to see hammer and short bow passed to engineer. The possibilities for short bow with explosive shots, concussion arrowheads and a brilliant stun etc. Yeah maybe we have some of those kind of ideas on pistol but pistol damage is not worth printing on paper how poor it is. If the devs are talking we are hard countered by most things is due to the nerfs they place on the class. Start by giving it incredible damage to balance its medium armor and lets have some weapon choice please.
(edited by mzt.3270)
Woaww, did just OP asked us to use a specific meta build?
Welcome Diversity, Welcome Free Choice, Welcome your Own Taste!Well, no thanks. I’m not using 1h Sword because it’s 2 skills I don’t like at all.
GS feels mutch better, but it’s AA dodges are hard to sync – usualy not worth mutch.
And wouldn’t sacrifice LB’s traited 1500 range, which is still short at some terrain…
Agreed, the sword skills are utterly garbage compared to Warrior, the only thing it has going for it is “Velcro Monkey” rooting and even then in a zerg thats asking for trouble.
Greatsword is ok but needs more buffs, to get the half the DPS of a tank warrior you have to go zerk and that leads to all sorts of issues of survivalist tactics. Range too easy so less DPS some say…, rubbish. I have seen eles, thieves, Mesmer GS do awesome damage at ranged, why are the rangers and engies suffering? This is what I cannot understand.
Rangers and engies are actually penalized for range DPS when others are given quite substantial damage. Eles, Thieves and Mesmer also have better mobility then ranger and engies, so why are these two so heavily neutered to the weapon sets they depend on.
So there seems to be some conflict in the Anet mindset of what constitutes ranged weapons and the classes that use them. I mean the Ranger shortbow, the condition have been poor since the beginning, as a power weapon on zerk it gets no where as near the damage it would on another bow sharing class. So what is its use when it cannot deliver as either long or close ranged unless it was in the hands of another of the above classes. So yes I find it very strange how developers actually figure balancing out. And no. lets not even begin to mention the problems of Entangle.
I see the ranger like the BAE Trident compared with a pile of Airbus and 737s, wonderful equipment, very good design but the power in its engines lack and there for are superseded by the rest. Not saying I don’t enjoy playing ranger but i rather play my mesmer for the stealth and clones or a thief for its “press and play” playstyle.

Awesome, Will have a go after work tonight and test it on some WVW, looking forward to it. TY
Pass the build, the runes , sigils and food I try it out and give you the findings.
“engis are too OP” comments did hurt the class in the past (think juggernaut / minekit / poison nades / a.s.o.) and “engi needs buffs” will result in the demanded WHILE EVERY OTHER CLASS GETS BUFFS AS WELL.
Meanwhile skillful engis shred meta-builds to pieces in pvp and wvw and the other classes’ scrubs cry for further nerfs. And now engi scrubs, that don’t get the hang of the class (and rather should call for lecture on how2engi), call for buffs instead so they can play a “cool steampunk themed avatar” without investing a single gray cell.So yea, what will really hurt the engis performance is the ongoing distress call for an unnecessary class cdi.
What also dictates a skilled engie and what dictates a scrub is also a questionable affair, you will get different answers to different opinion. I for one as many others do say engies are in no way in the meta right now. The flamethrower damage is pitiful, for all the times there is “immune, immune, immune” in bold lettering when attacking is also not worth thinking about.
Until an engie can be on a balance with a necro where it can counter the reflect of conditions and have the availability of survivability of a high regen, high stealth thief will be the day I believe it. I have played engie since the beginning, i love the class but even I with as many kills under my belt, often say I could have won said fight if I had a bit more attack power. Until that day… !!
Static shield still throws a plain wooden shield when using Flameseeker Prophecies.
LOL and this is why we can’t have nice things
Tigirius, last time you said you only do pve…
Did you read the thread title?
Do you know that this lack of balancing you propagate all over this forum is basically non-existent, especially when it comes to pvp and wvw?
Did you know that its only the steep learning curve for the engi that creates the illusion of being subpar?
Not a single time since I play engi, I got killed by something else but my own stupidity. There was not a single situation or enemy I could not take after finding out what to do / how to outsmart them. The engineer is a difficult and skillcap-less class that one can always improve himself in. If you don’t like the trail and error / high apm side if this class then please stop complaining already and roll for something else.Things that actually need fixes:
The bugs (like for all classes’ traits and skills)
The hobosacks
Thats it. Most engis are perfectly fine with the balancing of their class, what we call out for is more variety in accessible weapons and new skills / traits, since that is what the engi is about: chaos.
The more toys we have to our disposal the deadlier we get, which does not – under no
circumstances – mean that we need a re-balance for our existing traits or skills.Gw2 =/= other mmo’s, stop comparing them. Open the previous patchnotes, look into the class-specific changes and tell me again that this class’ dev-team is not doing anything. Every single class receives the same attention and if you really want to find out the class that is changed the least, then you end up with guardian. Why? because it was mostly fine from launch and only required minor changes and balance updates from time to time.
Hmmm, not sure about this… the issues with engineer are numerous. Class balance is a big issue with engies, even the devs have stated the engie is being hard countered by everything just now. Hobosacks are an issue yes , but hell I would live with a Hobo sack if i can have bombs that explode on drop ( its our melee so why should 2 to 3 second handicap be in order?), We need to trait for a wider AOE where other classes get as standard, WE lack any substantial power damage to compliment conditions ( and saying that even conditions are not high enough IMO to comfortably sit in the meta). Every other class can add conditions into power based setups quite comfortably with great results, yet condition engie with its really kitten condie tick is a tickling feather and easy wiped by most classes, thus not strong enough to keep to the meta.
Turrets are not bad but they are not that great, they do not have the key to mobility which is no use for high escape classes which is bad considering every other class with a pet/ minion can have the ability to have buffs from such additional taggers as a bonus. I’m sorry but its this sort of " there is nothing wrong with this class" comments that are simply hurting the class further more in the game – it’s better to work with everyone to bring attention to the engineers issues.
There is a decent forum entry on this issue, it would be good to read it and see what issues there are.
(edited by mzt.3270)
I’ve been playing since BWE2 I remember mines, mine field, bombs, grenades all having large fields to trigger them. I’ve played Guardian, Staff Necro, and Trap Ranger, all of those classes kept the general size of and trigger zones of their weapons but Engineers did not. If you’re an explosive engineer you’ve been nerfed not just once but multiple times in PVE. The fields for Guardian, Staff Necro, Trap Ranger are twice as large as those for the mines, bombs, emergency mines from traits, and grenades. We actually have to absolutely use the Forceful Explosives trait (which I might add could be a slot used for something else like perhaps the missing extra damage trait after reaching a certain percentage that’s missing from the Engineer Traits entirely) just to make the explosions large enough, and some of them aren’t as large as the swing of a 2 handed sword. (like the Bunker Down mines for example which enemies can dance all over and never set them off).
We need a CDI to talk about things like this, nerfs in PVE don’t help anyone, they don’t help gameplay and they don’t help the playerbase to stop such things as discrimination based on class when doing functions like running dungeons/fractals/or even guild bounties and we’ve all seen the reports on those.
After I read that people of other classes were waiting on a promised CDI for their class I felt it was necessary to bring this to attention here in the forums. We need a voice, we need to address the things that aren’t working properly, the overall imbalance, and we need the ear of the man in charge so that we can once and for all get some of these age old issues with this class fixed. No other class has suffered the nerfs this class has had to endure in the entire lifetime of this title in PVE.
The issue above is only 1 example of many things wrong with the class. Please help support your fellow players.
Such a well thought out, concise, straight to the point forum entry with good reasoning. I hope Karl etc take such logic on when they re-issue the engie back from the nerf bats they did. IMO I feel the nerfs to the engie classes were just so bad and so drastic. The problem with the engie also lends itself to its skilled gameplay, skilled being the point that you have to be as the co-efficient between mobility and damage is not on any scale worth mentioning.
What I feel needs to be done for engie is
1 -standardized field for bombs, mines and grenades that is equal to the area surface of warrior great sword that does not have to be traited for.
2- A way better heal balance for elixir bombs to help in zergs ( just now the heals per bomb is shockingly bad for the amount of healing put in , no matter if you spec as healer or not. It should be far higher for a 30 point trait.
3 -Bomb delays are far too long and are visable, bombs should be treated as melee and be subject to instant cast off/ explosion just as a melee user can swing/ insta-damage.
4- Far better condition variables, even with traiting high for conditions does not give enough clout to push through -40 % foods, melandru runes etc.
After playing a necro and as fun as that is for condies yet suffering stunbreak/ stability options – I still feel engies need far more conditions damage than they have now.
Of course they can just forgo all these and give engie a perm stealth skill line like thieves . Then there is at least a real counter to thief stealth and you have at least secondary evasion to make up for the hard counters engies are facing now.
I really want to know what the server’s are called :P
They are named after WvW objectives.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/24e319/gw2_china_presales_passed_the_500000_milestone/
Just as well they were not named after high percentile WvW loot, who would want to be on a server called Rending Barb or Hard Leather Strap . Wait on second thought… I know who would (reaches for the brain bleach)
People have simply got tired of bashing heads on brick walls, frustrated that Anet refuse to listen to consumer suggestions and ignore the issues in class balance, its design problems and WVW blobaganda. What little support is directed to these forums by Anet to form its “consumer suggestions etc” which with its draconian rulings, often deletes some very good and pinpoint issues under the guise of breaking match discussion rulings etc. The problem with that is without naming and shaming servers etc, there is no direction to go on other than someone spouting off an issue. Therefore nothing is done – so it is very clear that many complaints and suggestions go into the trash bin.
My friend recently lost a lot of gold during the some bug with mail transfers, days later his hard earned gold is still missing, Anet have still not done anything about it or even acknowledged his complaint. When you are faced with a company working under these constant and unprofessional practices, its any wonder why we noting the number of players diminishing.
Anet is now going to be concentrating on China , is logical as they can spin the same hashed out issues to a new set of faces and eager to collect on the growing economy there. The only lining to the otherwise dull cloud is they will continue the same customer service “coughs” as they did with the western economic market and Anet will have a rotating self fulling prophecy. They were told about the issues, they don’t care further than boring PVE and Esports – best bet is to look up whats coming up in new games as many do take note of the competition and hammer them in the weak spots to move players to their platform.
Worth checking out the gaming forums and magazines just what gaming companies are placing against the competing market – note who is offering the better player satisfaction and move on to the one that gives you best satisfaction like some players have done on FF and ESO .
AS for WVW, well the coverage wars stink. My rewards are based on Anet placing a few free transfers to certain servers early in the season, allow massive servers to 2 vs 1 against smaller ones, the hackers, the cheats and all the rest etc. So yeah I think many feel the same sadly, simply had enough and gone to spend hard earned money elsewhere.
(edited by mzt.3270)
I like how OP ignores every single shred of evidence that supports 2v1.
Before you continue on your tear stained path of forum posts, please answer yourself one question:
Should servers stop trying to win a season?
Answer – Agreed No they shouldn’t. On that note the question should also be “Should a server be winning on more sportsmanlike means and on their own merits ?” But that is another question altogether and one open to each servers attitude to humanity and morals.
(edited by mzt.3270)
Except… 2vs1 conflicts entirely with the channel they take when delivering achievement points and prizes to individual players through tournament rankings. In the end the server is made of individual players, some I may add are in a less than desirable place where the server they are on may have no allies to support them and suffer from guild migrations to leave them low on numbers, does not mean they put less effort to get the rewards.
In fact they have to work double hard to get even a fraction of what a massive blobserver can get.
The problem is that on paper Anets vision for 2vs1 is good, the object being that two smaller servers may help to overthrow a larger one. The reality is further from the truth where already huge servers make “temporary alliances” to overthrow smaller servers due to politics and it is here where the 2 vs1 issue is severely flawed in “bully tactics”.
I am all for servers winning on it’s own merits but when two huge servers deliberately come together to deny a smaller server of its rewards through no skill and strategic planning, but on further weakening an already weakened opposition by an " alliance agreed offensive" is not only the lowest form of pond life, it is also questionable ethics. People have to remember that such actions are penalizing individuals – not a server, especially when tournaments and prizes are on offer and denying them of the chance to gain said rewards through so called alliances which is totally unfair.
If this is the case then Anet either needs to restructure the rewards to open it to a “standard for all reward” no matter where you are placed or kill off the season tournaments altogether, because right now it’s being open to abuse and frankly I am surprised Anet allow it to damage their name and their game through the selfish and deliberate actions of certain servers.
