Well there is challenging and there is frustrating content. I hope if these are implemented, it would never ever push the game into the frustrating side of things.

Challenging:
The first attempt with other people on any mission in GW1 from Thunderhead Keep forward with only Prophecies skills.

Frustrating:
Using only henches on any mission in GW1 from Thunderhead Keep forward with only Prophecies skills.

PPT is a joke. WvW is about fights.

1) You are awesome and you want hard penalties to feel great. Fret not that is no problem, just be friggin awesome and consequent at the same time. Delete your loser character as soon as he hits the ground. Problem solved, everyone happy.

2) You are awesome but not that awesome? You still want to be more awesome than that casual loser that falls down every two seconds? Pay Evon 5% of your total gold worth every time you die. How? Place a sell order for the amount you own and then take it off again afterwards. Increase this number as your awesomness rises until you change to option one.

Perhaps my perspective to games is different.

To me, endgame means I’m free from doing the routine of grinding levels, gearing up, unlocking skills or any form of character progression. My character is done, as powerful as the stats boundaries can allow (with exception to Ascended and Legendaries, whole different can of squigglies).

In this sense, I’m free to do what I feel like doing. I’m free to get lost in the game world, be spontaneous without feeling I’m wasting my time not “progressing”. Being able to immerse myself, without any worries (and a lot of times without much thought either) like that is reward in itself.

No thanks. I think death penalty is now at the perfect spot. You don’t actively try to not die. You play first and foremost, and try to not die as a secondary thought.

You go into zerg fights even though outnumbered and have a good fight. You contest a tower to buy your team a couple of seconds. You rez the Lord blowing all your invuls and stabs. You charge into the enemy siege trebbing your keep.

Don’t take this away from us.

I actually choose to play GW2 because it has no “end-game” content. If anything, things like Ascended gear feels wrong to me. And, Legendaries should just have Exotic stats. Not saying you’re wrong, OP, but I believe a lot of people chose this game exactly because of no “end-game”.

Well I would agree with you if it were say, 2000 gems.

But at 200 gems, it translates to a lil over 20 gold. If all temporary content can be accessed with it, I could live with that. Not downplaying it, but I really think this is a fair price to pay.

I wouldn’t call this one a kill. I did get the “kill”, lootbag and WXP. The people I was “fighting” did die. But through no actions of mine, kinda.

We were green, defending SMC from Red in the lord’s room. We were outnumbered, so things are not looking pretty. In the chaos in comes Blue zerg. Needless to say, we were sandwiched, we scattered. Red retreated after a while.

I ran the only direction I could. Up. All the way up. The chasing party is catching up fast. No where to go, I jumped off and… I survived! Landed on a ledge facing the outer wall. Being a staff ele I’m pretty much harmless. So I was going to wait a bit then go back to the Green corner. It didn’t occur to me to WP out. But the Blue zerg decided to leave right below me.

One particular warrior spotted me starts to fire at me from below. A guardian joined in soon after from the walkway where the treb spot is. After a while the warrior went up top too. A ranger followed. Unable to outheal them, I decided to leap off with dignity intact. Before I could, I got downed. With no other alternatives, I mistformed and went over, expecting to not survive.

But fate decided otherwise. I landed in mistform. Down but not out, I started to rez myself, half expecting some passerby or guard to come finish me off. What came next was… inexplicable. One of the 3 Blues on the ledge went splat right next to me, rallying me. WXP and lootbag.

I nearly died from holding my laughter. Till this day, I still wonder (and probably will do so from time to time) what the conversation was like in their chat.

There are no sure path to craft a Legendary and Ascended gear, on par stat wise, are a pain to make.

What I would like to see is a mechanism building on Ascended gear and slowly approach Legendary stats wise. One of the gripes for Ascended gear is the lock in on stats. So what if we could unlock more stats via crafting or mystic forge?

For example you have an Ascended zerker sword. You go through the crafting and forging for cavalier stats for this sword. You can now change your sword from zerker to cavalier out of combat.

In most games that have voice comms built in, I still used 3rd party tools with guild or clans. I don’t think this trend would change simply because nothing beats being able to administer the comms server with your own community rules.

I don’t think I’ll ever play on such a server so if this is ever implemented, make sure it’s disabled by default. And more importantly, no “better loot” or “PVP only loot” in PVP server to “encourage” people to play in them. Quite frankly, I think PVP maps will most likely hold a handful of thieves stealthed at strategic locations waiting for some poor sod to pass.

Try not to get in combat en route to your destination. And, avoid attacking the gate in a large group, unless really necessary, like 1 minute to cap before tick. Popping orange swords reveals your force’s position on the map. So, leave the money wurm, grouchy harpy, fatty grub et cetera alone mmkay?

Thanks but no thanks. I like WvW as it is so I don’t have to deal with annoying people that can’t behave like adults. No really even the x% (where x is any positive integer plucked from the sky trying to illustrate a usually biased point) chance is enough. Dealing with attitude in real life is one thing, leaving that out of the game is a good call in my books.

Faceless mob beats dealing with whiny adults acting like toddlers being denied their toy, any day of the Gregorian calendar. ‘Sides, what’s stopping people from just doing party invites anyway?

However, I would not mind this feature only if it is optional. As in, each player choose to reveal their names or not. A check-box or something to opt in. I would definitely leave it as it is now.

My servers score has only a meaning relative to the opponents score. After the match it is translated to Glicko and it’s total amount does not matter. And the total amount does not matter for translation into Glicko, only the relative amount is important.

So if they reduce my (and the 3rd) servers score by 33% and at the same time reduce their own score to 0. Great for me, bad for them.

Not if the server in question has better coverage (you’re trying to address this) and is able to take your stuff on demand during your off-times. Then, it is back to square one. Big server takes your stuff, builds substantial lead then turtles for rest of the week. This is worse than the current since they are doing your points harm by essentially doing nothing on the map with a few scouts, afks and what-nots.

You have a nice fantasy.
The most effective trolling is:
send a large force to one of the opponents server.
They take all slots in prime-time and they help your home-force to crush the 3rd server

Just so you know, there is at least one server doing exactly what I just described. The organization maybe unbelievable at times, but it works. With your suggestion, instead of actively playing, winning servers would go on attrition and turtle it since they can reduce your PPT by 33% if not more depending on the third server, by just not playing.

If anything it compounds PPT discrepancy further for server with less WVW coverage.

It’s the AOE limitation that causes blobs. There would still be zergs even if there wasn’t a blob. Make it so everyone in a area gets hit but buffs still only effect 5 and the blob would stop, but not the zerg.

Well if there is no AOE limitation, the zerg’s AOE would be exponentially more devastating. I really have no idea how to balance this xD.

That ANet is unable to handle trolls we all know.
Trolls can build siege where it is useless, they can start the wrong upgrades in times where the supplies are needed, they party the opponent to show position of zergs to the enemy, …., their simple presence on the map blocks slots needed by others.

Yes we would need troll handling too, but this is a different story.

It isn’t just about the spies.

If scoring is based on the population, all the winning server needs is a team of scouts in each BL and on VOIP. By pulling their forces into say, OS or EOTM, the remaining servers will be scoring low as long as important assets like certain towers or keeps are defended when required.

This means the mean scoring method in your proposal actually promote bursts play and then non-participation in order to secure wins. Hence, on the flipside, punishes players that want to just play.

PS: I should explain further on the scouts. Leaving minimum players on the map means as soon as an enemy force ports into the map, the undermanned buff will already give that away. Loads of lead time to counter.

From Aberrant.6749, if the population mean method is applied with a hard minimum, it could work, but I think this value will differ from match-ups and could be hard to balance according to tiers.

That’s why I made sure that never a single servers amount of players limits anything.
But the total sum of all three servers.

If not one from any of the three servers is in the game (on a specific map) why should it generate a score?

As soon as there are any people from any side (sum up over all sides) the score start.

They only thing you reach with a boycott of a map is: you will loose it.

The server that owns it can get score for it if he maintains his people there.

Something needs changed, true. But not by punishing people based on geographical location and/or playing habits.

Pushing people into time slices will only segregate the player base. Some of these suggestions has been floating around since beta. They know. Extensive and complex tick calculations could be viable but cannot be implemented wholesale and linear like 50% for non-prime for example.

Scoring by participants or opposing force has been struck off over and over and I’m beginning to sound like a broken record. It’s too easy to exploit by an organized server. What is stopping a server from taking a healthy lead and simply pull their forces from a BL? This applies to any limit and/or multipliers applied on scoring based on population.

Some people don’t think things through. I’m not pointing at the OP. I’m talking about people who has played this game long enough but only see things from a single perspective (like the guy on the ivory tower somewhere above this post :P).

I don’t get the solo roamers complaining about getting zerged or people complaining about zergs. It’s world vs world. A representation of armies moving around taking keeps trying to keep supply lines open. Armies are a large number of people working in coordination.

A solo roamer or group of roamers should expect to get stomped if not hiding.

Collision boxes are very, very very cycle intensive. I don’t think it is a viable solution. Even if it did, it can open up a lot of ways “spies”, or your generic kittens, can hurt the game.

Eles are just plain bad these days IMO. Combo field bots. Much maligned like mesmers. But at least mezes are good in a duel. And eles can’t switch out the staff when ganked. I’ve never understood how a class can be designed with the least HPs and armor but not hit like a freight train or zip around the battle field like Roadrunner on steroids.

I think blobs are fine. It is world vs. world vs world after all. Much like Alliance Battles in GW1, a casual mode of PVP. People rarely complain much about AB being disorganized and chaotic (exploits and cheating is a different can of worms). In fact, for every person here complaining about blobing, there are probably 9 others that are happy with it being like it is.

When I see threads like these, I think people want equal organized team PVP mode like GVG. Why those aren’t in from the first day still baffles me.

Time limited Living Story is keeping me away

It would be nice if there is some way to replay content.

The stuff for LS and personal story (PS) just sits there after the first run through.

In GW1, you get to replay earlier missions anytime. So I think it would be interesting here as well.

PS missions could perhaps be replayed by talking with a “historian” in the home instance.

LS stuff will be rather tricky though.

Wrong. There are lots of posts saying simply this : 5% is nothing. It’s against those posts that I made my argument. People are just doing that : denying it.

And for the rest… P2W is also about having the things easier and in less time. You simply get to have a big part of the game handed to you for a reasonable amount of money. And let me tell that I am only talking about PVE here since its content is almost all buyable with gold. It’s like having Mario levels handed to you by paying a fee to Nintendo.

Making P2W optional does not make it less present in this game.

For those that say that PVE win is not for sale, I am curious : What exactly do you have as PVE objectives? Only titles require you to really play right now and some Ores for the ascended too, maybe exploration for the legendary. The rest? Some gold and you have it. Talk about a let down in motivation to get anything when you know the gus next to you got it all just by intputing credit card data.

You don’t see anything to win in PVE? Well, fine. I respect this since I don’t like WWW nor PVP myself. But putting all the PVE content at credit card reach is seriously sapping my motivation to get anything.

The increase in stat is something I don’t like either. If it was up to me, exotics would be the final tier. Anything else will be pretty shinies like GW1.

But think for a moment here. What is there to win in PVE exactly? It isn’t a race.

Other than fractals, what other parts of the game is inaccessible with exotics? None.

Fractals is made for people who enjoy the vertical progression so there are no arguments there from me.

In an honest-to-God P2W game, PVE content are balanced based on cashshop items. PVP is heavily tilted towards cashshop items. You better be a really savvy trader if you do not intend to go plastic. Otherwise you will die like the pawns in epic battle movies that don’t even get a mention in the end credits.

Red Vs Green Vs Blue

I think rather than scraping the server vs server matches, servers can be grouped into color factions. The question of how many servers per faction match-ups, that will need some tweaking. But this way, high WVW population servers can be paired with a low one to even things out.

For instance:
Server R1 + Server R27 (green) vs Server R2 + Server R26 (blue) vs Server R3 + Server R25 (red)

Basically what I wrote down on Suggestion 2#

Just that I think I would leave the number of servers per team with a bit more freedom.

Because the current Tier 1 servers are prolly strong enough to trash all Tier 5+ server pretty much by themselves.

Maintaining the servers as a team rewards servers that build their community hence I would prefer it to stay.

Granted T1 servers are in a league of their own, hence you group them with lower tiers. In a way T1, probably some T2 servers will be “seeded” and cannot be teamed with another server of similar strength.

So you may have match ups like Vizunah + Vabbi vs Desolation + Gandara vs Riverside + Fort Ranik.

But never Vizunah + Seafarer’s team.

I have to disagree. I think the down state is fine as it is. The rallying mechanic tho could be better.
