I was thinking about how using the aura duplicator trait and max your boon duration you could get a lot of reflection for your group in fotm with earth staff 3

You cannot earn any of the Halloween skins from PvP alone this time around. Once our progression/reward system is in place we will be in a much better place for dispersing gear for PvP accomplishments.

Given the amount of just wood needed to both level your craft and make an ascended it would take months just to gather the wood.
not really, i have 3 80s and i run the t6 nodes every day and i get 100 ori and 100 ancient logs everyday
can we please get official word on this for god’s sake?
everytime there are new items we are never told if they are or aren’t (safe to assume aren’t, but official word would be nice.) in the chests. Serioulsly.
Focus is a good utility weapon. But when literally 50% of it’s skills are completely and utterly useless, it’s time for a rework.

assuming it’s 5 in a best case scenario that’s 35 seconds of prot holy kitten (not to mention if you’re running like 60% boon duration like i do on my ele you’re looking at an ADDITIONAL 21 SECONDS OF PROTECTION HOLY kitten.)
Eh, it’s not THAT bad. It’s a nice fire field if nothing else.
The cast time needs to be reduced to 1/4 for sure though.

I think the focus is good for Ele. It’s only use is for Lupicus and skipping mobs with ease.
It’s a support weapon like the staff. And like the staff, it will still suck. I would be nice to have lower casting time but nope.
some of the support skills are fine but then air 5 water 4 fire 5 are absolute poppykitten
They didn’t show focus in the live stream today so I still had hope but Jon_Sharp said “No I don’t think.” when I asked if they even TOUCHED focus.

They did these in Guild Wars, and they even did it last year in Guild Wars 2 but I’ve heard no mention of it for the 2013 Halloween.

I started using focus today and I’m loving it even though many skills are lackluster.
I don’t want a redesign on fire 4. I like having a fire field. Reduce cast time to 1/4 second.
I don’t want a redesign on Water 5. Comet is pretty rad. Maybe a CD reduction.
besides the fantastic skills (air 4, both earth ones) Everything else I’d be happy with a complete redesign.
I am actually extremely happy with the way they handled Ascended Weapons.
It’s only 200g if you buy every single mat off the TP.
I just leveled 400-500 huntsman for a total of around 50-60g (probably could’ve done it in around 40g if I wasn’t lazy)
If you have multiple 80s clear all the t6 nodes from CS/FGS/SC/ML you can get 30 ancient logs and 30 ori nodes roughly on each character. I have 3 80s and do this everyday and get about 100 of each everyday. Ectos come easy from rares and doing dungeons/world events and t6 mats I’ll either already have them from normal play or loot bags or buy some off the tp. It’s not even bad.
Getting to 500 is expensive, sure, but the actual crafting of ascended weapons is awesome.
while i’d love to see more armor skins, you gotta remember how hard they are to make (in comparison to say back pieces or weapon skins)
you need to model 5 pieces of gear on 10 different race/gender combinations.
^ I have trouble believing they could pull off water attunement torch skills.
What are you guys opinion on the consortium? I personally love them maybe more than the elder dragons. Probably because they’re a relatable villain (looking at IRL corporations) and that they weren’t so distant, they also were pretty grey and not technically evil. I loved them and hope they make a reappearance, what about you guys?

I understand what you’re saying and I agree, a lot of the events seem to be almost reskins of eachother, but you’re not really getting your point across that well..
in reference to your image, what would a update consist of if there were no events, rewards or features?! You can’t just say the updates are similar because they all have FEATURES AND REWARDS. What the kitten?
One of the main selling points of the game was no Holy Trinity. However this seems to make combat and dungeons a lot LESS fun to play than if there was a trinity in my opinion. The meta is stagnant, you either go full berserker and facebash the boss before he can do any real damage or you’re being detrimental to your team. I’m wondering how we can fix this. The other patch, I saw they ramp up healing power and base healing on a few guardian healing abilities, which is a good idea however there needs to be some serious remodeling of the entire system soon, or else many people will end up losing interest in the game. I’m not trying to flame I’m a huge fanboy of this game and defend it every chance I get, I play everyday and have almost 1300 hours logged. I really love this game and I just want to see it go in the right direction.
How do you think Arena Net could solve this problem of an only berserker meta. How can support and control builds make it into the scene?
The only way I can see this happening is scale healing power properly across the board, and introduce fight mechanics that somehow negate full berserker parties. We really do need some sort of soft trinity. The meta is stagnant and boring.

The title char limit, makes this thread deceiving but I’m talking about from a lore perspective.
In the Stream they said the Queen couldn’t afford keeping it up year-round. But why? The gauntlet is unique to DR, it would provide fame and tonnes of foreigners who in turn spend their outside coin into the local economy. The gauntlet provides a bunch of jobs for the unemployed, and some of the locals could set up carts for their produce outside the entrance for foreigners. Almost like tailgating.
I really don’t see how NOT keeping it is a good idea for DR from a lore/economy perspective. (I’m no expert so if I’m totally wrong just let me know, eh)
Thank god all you get for beating her is a mini and some chievo points. They could have done something stupid like stick a cool weapon skin behind it.

I too am shocked that they made this only to be temporary. Especially with how difficult it is and how many achievements it has for it alone.
I’m not even shocked. Just super disappointed. I knew it would be temporary since it was part of a Living Story update. Keeping the world fresh and living is a kitten poor excuse, IMO.
I’m not bashing for fun, I really LOVE this update, I just wish i could play it for ever.
I know there has been threads like these but I need to vent. I just watched the stream and I am super excited and impressed with this patch. From solo queue, to the gauntlet. The works, literally everything they have implemented I am excited about.
However I am disappointed with the gauntlet. SEVERELY disappointed. That fight with the blazing light boss was awesome! Finally some mobs with unique and interesting mechanics! Finally some challenging group and solo content. I LOVE the concept of the arena split into a bunch of different environments. WHY on EARTH is this temporary? The chat during the live stream exploded with "NOOO"s and "LAME"s when they said it was temporary, but they said if there is enough outcry they MIGHT change their minds.
Please, please, respond to this and show your support for keeping this permanently. This looks amazing and finally something challenging and unique.
One major flaw that discredits this whole experiment. You don’t heal every 30s. You will never heal everytime it comes of recharge more than 2 or 3 times in a row. Period. Signet is much better not even counting the condi removal.
With the might on crit and might on VoJ (and VoJ recharge on death), would it be smart to ditch ruby orbs and pick up 2 sup water, 2 sup monk and 2 major water runes for boon duration?
I just want to say I’m no theory crafter or anything like that by any means but I decided to hop onto my guardian for the first time in months and gear him out and build a dps spec. I don’t use torch but I’ve been playing around with in while in Cursed Shore and it IS a nice weapon. However I have a few gripes with it, and I was wondering if these same gripes are the reason I don’t see any other guardians use torch.
Zealot’s Fire shouldn’t increase the CD by 50% IMO. It’s a subpar skill as is and it would be nice to be able to throw the fire and still maintain at 15 second CD.
Cleansing Flame’s cast time could use a reduction from 4 1/4 seconds to 3 3/4 seconds. At the moment it feels way to long for little damage, I could be auto attacking with my sword and do much more in less time.
Would these changes make torch over powered? Sorry, I’m not the best at stuff like this. I was thinking that reducing Cleansing Flame’s cast time might make it better than 100b, but I don’t know if that’s a problem or not.

It looked EXACTLY like Emberspire does now, but as a scepter.
secondary mechanics!
Let’s face it, many fights in this game are dull to say the least. I think this is because there isn’t really much emphasis on secondary/tertiary mechanics.
Take tequatl the sunless for example. Really interesting fight on paper. Guard the megalaser, turrets, and shoot the bone shield. However more often than not you just get players attacking the dragon himself and ignoring every other mechanic. A fix to this would be to nerf damage he takes from players from X % and increase damage he takes from turrets/megalasers by X %.
Another example of this would be the last boss in Honor of the Waves path 1. Ginva the butcher. I think that while the totems are up, he should take a lot less damage. Each totem should give him a stack of some sort of buff that increases his damage and decreases the damage he takes. And once all the totems are killed and he has no stacks, he is super easy to burn through his HP. Then the totems respawn again. Currently, the only totem that groups worry about is the Protection one. Other than that it’s basically a tank and spank other than is whirlwind AoE.
Another example would be the last boss of Citadel of Flame path one. Reduce the Effigiy’s health but increase the health of the crystals. Therefore the most efficient way would be to stay on top of the crystals that are spawning.
A fight that does this well in my opinion is the last boss of the Underground Facility Fractal. The lava spilling is a nice touch I have to admit, but I think it could use another mechanic. At intervals of maybe 25% of the bosses HP. Dredge would spawn and try to shut down the lava control panel.
The last boss of the Volcano Fractal is also a good fight. You have to keep moving, kill his shield, and kill the jellies while dodging AoE. I still think it could use another secondary mechanic though I haven’t thought of one.
Another example is the first boss of the Volcano Fractal. Rather than have grawl spawn at the start and then just tank the boss and watch for his aoe and shield, grawl should spawn THROUGHOUT the fight instead and if they kill a captive, the boss should get a buff/heal.
This is just some ideas, I’m sure others have better ones.
Tl;DR Fights should focus more on secondary and tertiary mechanics, rather than actually fighting the boss itself.

Assuming we can’t get up to 300% + that you can on gear via achievement rewards, consumables and other means of account magic find, will it be buffed?
I know it’s scepter counterpart, Emberglow, got a reskin and now it actually looks great. I was hoping/wondering if we are getting the same reskin on to Emberspire. Right now it’s pretty ugly.
We have not started building either Fractal yet. We’ll be starting pretty much as soon as the vote is decided, with all three fractals (Aetherblade, Molten, and Reactor/Abbadon) releasing later this year.
If abaddon wins is there ANY chance players will get to see Thaumanova Reactor as a fractal (or even just find out what the kitten happened (new events in that area, living story arc etc.) or vice versa?
Both of these options are way to good, and If Abbadon wins I’ll be sad if I never find out about TR, and if TR wins it would suck if we never see the fall of Abbadon. These options are too good, darnit!
The Merchant, Trading Post, and Bank Access Express items shouldn’t take up bag space. There should be some sort of way to store them in a bar of some sort on the bag window. These items are kind of useful but I never have them on me when I want to use them, and I don’t want them to take up bag space, etc. This bar should be account wide so I don’t need to keep swapping them between characters. Doing something like this is really the only way I see people actually buying these items with gems,

Me and a few others in /map chat agreed that they drop more in Queensdale/Kryta maps. A good place to farm them are the harathi highlands modnir event chain (lots of mobs) or that ring of running centaur south of demongrub pits (lower south east corner of Queensdale), again lots of mobs. Really anywhere with a high concentration of mobs is a great place to farm them!

seriously, I have no idea how it’s been almost a year and this hasn’t been implemented but kitten , i would frequent this forum much more often if this existed.

Colin says that eventually he wants players to have an impact on the living story and that the current living story would differ server to server. Could this be the first test of that? I think it’s possible but highly unlikely since something as big as a fractal being different server to server would be hard to implement correctly. But I wanted to know if anyone thought of this interview when they read about the new election and what you think about the idea of it being different on each server.
From a lore stand point I would chose Evon over Kiel easily. He’s very wealthy and his connections can do a lot more for Lion’s Arch than Kiel’s go getter attitude ever could.
I’m voting for Evon more for the Molten Facility fractal.

I came across this NPC in Lornar’s Pass today and it really intrigued me. He’ll spawn when a player nearby has looted a gear crank from a mob. Then he uses it to unlock a great power sealed in the ice, in this small cavern with a frozen waterfall and the entrance has two green dragon statues. The ‘great power’ turns out to be a fleshreaver, which you must kill and then fight off waves of more felshreavers as Dremus tries to seal the ice.
Any idea what this place is, where the fleshreavers came from, etc would be appreciated!
