What I want to see is EoTM being an overflow map and actually acting like overflow – as in, if WvW isn’t queued, then EoTM isn’t accessible.

Bad idea, low wvw-pop server cannot play EotM if you do it that way.

Most of them for most servers completely irrelevant.
Ranks 2-8 will be completely decided in the last 2 rounds, every result before doesn’t matter et al.

Therein lies the problem. The tier 1 servers are very good. I can’t see a tier 3 server being competitive against a tier 1.

And here is the real power of the new system!

Do you want to be on a server with hours of queue just to spawn-camp 24/7?

The variation of matches will lead to a spread out of people. Only the stagnation of matches – we had so far – enforced the concentration of people in the top servers.
So far the only way out of a match was a server-transfer. This will now change.

Scaling Score According To People On Map

Currently If I join an empty Bl and see 50 player enemy zerg, there’s absolutely nothing I can do to help my server.

Kill Dolyaks (but only cap camps if the scoring happens during the 5min recap buf, as otherwise it only generates dolyaks for your opponent to score), as each killed Dolyak gives your server a score point.

There are 6 camps on a BL, each spawns 2 dolyaks every 5min, so thats a total of 36 points to get every tick. More than a single keep.

And if your server has bloodlust on any BL: Stomp single opponents (1 score point per stomp as well)

And this really makes a difference! Look at http://www.gw2score.com/currentscore/hidden_points_percent/desc to see the influence of such score points (columns: score not from tick) best server in EU 39%, worst 21%, so e.g. last week Kodash made 38% of it’s score of 231983 pts, by dolyaks/stomps/sentries

For merging servers, how do we determine who gets merged?

Server are a relict from pre-mega-server, and it’s probably time to get rid of them in WvW as well.
Instead of merging existing servers, it probably better to kill all server and do a fresh start (all Glicko 1500) with new WvW-Teams. (Concerning names, you could make a vote in the forum, propose a list of current and new names, and the most voted ones are choosen). Current Server communities of course can talk to each other to join all together the same WvW-team. The recruitment thread in the forum can probably be of good use to find out who is planning to go where to avoid incompatibilities.

People that only play PvE, sPvP or even EotM (seeing EotM independend of WvW, which it is. So EotM team assignment should be independend of WvW-team membership, which would make eotm team balancing much easier than as well.) but not WvW do not need to be associated to a WvW-team. This would make population counting (for balancing) much easier than it currently is.

How many WvW-teams are optimnal is only decidable after an analysis of the current WvW-population, numbers only ANet have access to. I would rather choose to few teams than to many, because only full teams are competitive. And capacity should not oriented on occasional maximal need, but on mean need. At maximal peek moments, peole can play EotM which could be extended by an Ethernal Battlefield Map and/or Borderland-maps running in EotM mode. There has been rumors in the forum that people are on low tier servers because they do not want so many people in their match as there are on high pop servers. This should be examined and if it is the case 2 permantly separated leagues (with different map capacities) are probabaly a good idea.

WvW-Teams Initially no one is associated to a WvW-team, and every one has a free choice for a WvW-Team (but restricted to not able to join already full teams). Choice should no longer be mandatory in the char-selection, but if you enter WvW and aren’t associated with a team you are asked which team to join. You cannot transfer between, teams, but you can be inactive for a match, which automtically drops you out of a team. When you aren’t in a team, you can choose one when you next try to enter WvW. The initial join and rejoining your last team should be free, choosing a different one cost gems. (if there are two leagues (mid and large scale), you should have a last- or current-team in every league, which you can freely join.)

Member of a WVW-team should all share the team-chat whenever they are online independent where they are, e.g. if a wvw-map needs reinforcements, it could ask for help in the team-chat, and all people of that team see it, if they are on this map, on a different wvw-map or not in WvW (e.g. in PvE, EotM or sPvP) at moment.

Transfer costs
Transfer costs didn’t worked as a balancing tool, they did not avoided overstacking for leagues. In fact they are only a flatting-function currently cementing the existing imbalance. To ease balance movements (and to allow player to experiment with different communities) they should be low during off-season as soon as a balancing mechanics (as described below) is in place, and high (10-20 times higher) during seasons. Important is: Season-tariff starts in the moment the season is announced (and not when the season matches actually start, that’s to late to tax the WTJ).

I hope and think:
ER(3)-BB(1)-Vizu(5), because BB cannot make many points during BBs prime-time (i.e. after 2am) as Vizu will take the night points and BB without night points will loose.

Over all WvW player limit for each server should be equal to the number of WvW players averaged over time of the server with the least WvW population.

Funny. If the weak server puts 36 people at war for 2 hours prime-time (and nothing else), everyone will be restricted to have mostly 3 people online (thats the average over time in this example ) at anytime?

Afterwards they have only 3 player during these 2 hours (the rest is not allowed) , which would reduce the mean to 0.1 rounded to 0.

just remove EotM , and WvW will be back to normal….

Better rebalance and integrate it. I.e instead of 3 identical BLs and EB, make it EB+EotM2.0 in prime-time (more than 100 want to play) and only the better filled one in off-time (less than 100 want to play). Reduced match capacity would help a lot of server to become competitive.

I do not see the abuse if both have to say yes to let it happen.

Sounds like a funny new Guild-Mission to me.

And if you personally don’t like it, you can easily avoid being involved: Do not represent the guild while it is at war. But you should only be able to change that while in a save place or during login and you should be able to not represent a guild without leaving it (I think this is currently only possible if you have an alternative guild to represent, but it should then always be possible.)

Can we get rid of Rezzing totally dead?

As the title says it. In the meantime I think rezzing totally dead (but you can rezz downed people) people should be taken out of the game. It only causes problems everywhere.

  • People are careless about dying as there is no penalty.
  • People lie around boosting scaling without contributing, which disturbed mood of all, the dead that did not get rezzed, but crying for help and the living that have to do the work for the dead leacher.
  • In WvW/EotM it supports the large blobs and the winner is always a total winner. Without rezzing, blobs would be smaller and attrition war of the side with less manpower would become possible.

Instead whenever you are totally dead you are immediately ported to the next WP.

I see that #3 is facing #16 in EU.

EU-Ranks #1 – #10 can play against each other in EU-prime-time, ofc #1 wins vs #10, but only due to coverage, not for being better in the field, when both are there.

Likely EU has a better player spread than NA, due to the national servers, that balance WTJ.

That really bad thing on the old system was: Once you are in an imbalanced match, you are stuck in this imbalance. The poor Kodash got hit by Elona for 13 weeks in a row, till the broken old system finally let us go up to win T1 instead of dominate T2. When you loose against always the same opponents week for week, without any hope for a change, you face the real disaster the old system was.

Now you have a chance for more diversity
- once a week where you are outnumbered and face the challenge of guerrilla-play
- once a tight match, where every point counts (rare now, but rare in the old system as well)
- once a week, where you are forced to dominate by the rating system.

More variance in game play and more diversity in challenges. I like it more.

Still I think the likelihood of extreme dice-rolls should be reduced!
ANet should replace the uniform-dice by a Gaussian- or normal-dice.

I would say: we have mounts in GW2, just that they are called glider and toy (Riding_Broom, Magic_Carpet, …) and not mount.

So to all that want a mount: Riding_Brooms are cheap in the TP currently, go on and get one.

Collect over all EU-server over all days of the week (last 7 days) how many are playing in which hour.

Set the maximum-hour to 100%, set for every other hour the percentage of players in this hours relative to the maximum hour. In each hour multiply the score with the percentage for that hour.

Manipulation save, every player counts equally whenever she plays.

There is just no third server that would give a Fair Match with FoW and Vabbi.
To bad, but the only ones that could change that are yourself:
make a “call to arms” to your player and guilds, organize a WvW-TS where everyone interested is welcome, focus on one borderland and/or the Ethernal-third, train your “zerg-fight skills” and skirmisher groups, support your commanders, …

Haha, WvW is about matchups, you can hardly ban that word, even if the fun of WvW is now badly reduced by forbidding to talk about specific matchups.
And probably wish list is something ANet likes in the title of a thread. It’s a clear indicator that they have to ignore it’s content.

@Silent Shino: I’m not from BB, but we fought both as well:
Vizu’s preferred zerg size is 80+, Vizu has 24/7 coverage
RS preferred zerg size is 40+, RS has early morning and prime-time coverage.

40 Vizu are easier to kill than 40 RS, if you manage to force them into a fight,
but if they are only 40 they prefer to run to the next keep, and only come out when they managed to collect 80+

Probably the dice should be changed from uniform- to normal- or gaussian-distribution rolls, i.e. closer rolls are more likely, instead of every roll is equally likely.

But I really like the friday evening suspense of waiting for the new match-up being rolled. This in it’s own is a nice improvement of the game!

Probably they are nearly empty.
And as transfer target for 500 gems it desn’t matter if it is 1 or 2.

Randon-configurated Dungeons

Instead of fixed dungeons, bring random elements inside. Diablo 2 was quite great in that, the area parts where randomly composed and the mob groups inside as well. I think it will have much higher replay value than fixed dungeons, as you never know what you face next, the bosses could be similar random as in the PvE Deathmatches above.
Some may turn out very hard. Some may be undoable, some easy, you never know before.

Against a small amount of a currency (gold, gems or success token from this dungeon) per day you may personally save a configuration for later replay, e.g. with different people, different classes,…

Alliance vs Alliance vs Alliance instead of WvWvW would solve a lot problem.
(where a Alliance is a group of guilds under the leadership of one guild)

Balance, no problem, you can avoid wtj’s to join in and you can set a max-limit of players/guilds for an alliance.

Grief-play? no problem, the guild the grief player is in can kick him (or the alliance leader can kick the guild).

Coverage? Less a problem if you choose the members of your alliance wise.

Excluded? No! Join a different alliance or make your own.

And for all that do not want this competitive effort: Make a WvW/EotM match where you randomly join in (your side is fixed for the match duration on first join).

Anet’s spreadsheet they posted can’t be right. The percentages are all messed up.

It probably was correct once, but it is ages old as you can see on the order of servers.
If you look at EU-order and compare it to history I would say, it shows the probabilities of the ranking valid at the 15 November

As server rankings changed in the meantime probability did as well.

Fixed number of maps is an inherent design-mistake of WvW.

Fix that and WvW would feel alive, do not fix it and it stays dead.

Do you really want EotM as test ground for WvW? I think it would be horrible to let EotM people test and accept/reject what should go into WvW

No, it doesn’t care about scoring. It will die if you remove rewards (Karma) from capturing as it’s the Ktrain and not the PPTtrain

I guess silvos means Arbor. Yeah we hit Arbor hard in Week 2, as did Deso in the 2 weeks before. I’ve no idea what exactly happened on Arbor, maybe the delusional insight that T1 is totally out of scope for Arbor at that time broke the community. A pity, but not Elona’s fault. We got kicked out of T1, but were still much stronger than T2 …

And concerning Jade: If we would have double-teamed with Kodash we would have been in T1 faster. But as we did not we did not made it faster during french holidays.

In fact we not even focused Jade, we hit Kodash so hard as well that 2+ valuable guilds lost fun fighting in T2 and left Kodash to Abbadon’s. Still Kodash does not seem much weaker than jade, now that we aren’t in T2 “to help them” (sigh you need some ear-protection, if you say that to a Kodash). In fact, currently T2 on millenium looks more like we helped Jade during the last weeks to stay ahead of Kodash.

WvW achievements without Season

Not really surprising that the most overstocked WvW server does not want more people in WvW

  • would mean more queue for them
  • would mean more people on the opponent side, enabling them to beat BG

But if you would read more carefully, I proposed a competition between WvW players, and as soon as PvE player notice, that they hardly belong to the better 50% in these WvW activities, such that they get nothing for their effort, they stay away.

And I proposed one that sets different foci every week, with the intention to vary the goals of WvW a bit each weak. E.g. if SM defense is selected trebbing SM, would be a strategy where the players from the other server get ahead in their achievements, not you. In a week where both dolly escort & dolly kill are selected there will be heavy small-scale battle for Dollies.

So I think with such an idea we can get:

  • slightly different foci each week
  • individual competition e.g. to be the best NA/EU-wide dolly slapper of the week
  • achievements comparable with PvE

1) enforced balance of teams, if the winner is c.lear from start, there no sense to play the match, and in far to many matches the winner is known ahead.

2) To much PvD is the result of to many map for to few player most of the time, freeze maps when there are to few players in the match to fill them.

3) scheduled world boss runs gives you a guaranteed rare every 15 min, and quite often several plus exo, EotM gives more karma, badges and even WEXP. Living story gives you achievements every two weeks. WvW is mediocre rewards in any respect, make it at least leading in one respect.

4) I am sure, most of us totally forgot/ignore the bufs your world gets with increased score. Make them more effective, such that people care about them, don’t apply them to anyone registered on a world, but only to the ones that worked for them. Do not apply them in the current match (current buf based on current score), but apply them in the next week (buf during the week, based on the final score in the last match).

I would propose SFR in EU, there is a bunch of unbeatable advantages:

  • you win every WvW match
  • you win every EOTM match
  • assuming you play NA-prime, ou will always have a lot friends online and only a handful eneniems (just enough to give you something to flip , but never enough to bring you in danger)
  • you will not face queue in NA-prime

I fear the OP has a point!

To get something new in WvW we need two weeks Scarlett, afterwards the maps looks a bit different than before, e.g. Like Kesex hills or Lion arch. Maybe they even fix one or the other bugs we all know, when PvE players start to complain about them

Well WvW has been reworked, it allows you do the things you did in EOTM without any stress. So come back to WvW.

It’s very simple:

  • I like to go into TS, then I go into WvW
  • I don’t like to be in TS, then I go EotM

In any case, its now less than 2h a week (WvW+EotM), while it was 20+ hours a week 3 years ago, so yes, 95% of me are gone for WvW

The only thing that could bring me back is a competition, that can be taken serious, not this 24/7 PvD-nonsense with open teams allowing troll/spy-accounts on every team.

But I don’t see any steps in that direction nor do I believe anylonger that ANet will ever do them.

I got the Millenium set on hot key myself…but that site seems to be well off of current points.

Well, the site is in europe, the ones that check the updates are sleeping during NA-primetime.

And I’ll say this again, I’ve known people on server’s lower then the top of the silver league and you do exactly the same thing to them that people are complaining to Deso about.

I agree, and my personal opinion is that no server should be facing any server further than 3 places either side of them.

This makes matchmaking very difficult.
The lowest rank 1 could match with this restriction would be rank 4.
Assume it get 3 and 4
T1: 1, 3, 4
Now for T2
2, 5, and whom? no one left within 3 places of rank 2 that is not already matched somewhere else.

I don’t know for Yak’s bend but several Full server will stay Full for month or even Years as this change comes 1.5 years of overstacking a few server to late.

In such a situation a queue doesn’t make much sense most people that queued in will have stopped playing before they could join.

Refreshing probably doesn’t make any sense, if the status changes it likely changes at reset (friday 20:00-20:15).

Probably not everyone has millenium.org open at 2nd screen

- Oh damm, this score is still not sufficient to keep our rating!

Transfers during season

Ok, let ANet earn money with transfers, but at least “cost-free” transfers MUST get an at least 1 week timeout.

Much to many people have more than 1 account. And if you do not have a charackter on your secondary account you do not have to pay for your transfer.

But you do not need more than a lvl 1 character to actively harm your opponents with

  • golem trashing by cliff-jumping
  • filling up the map
  • spying (many commanders like to have their second account on a notebook, where the map shows the opponent commanders movement)
  • wasting supplies
  • starting bad upgrades

Delete all chars, move to the dangerous opponent for free, sabotage him, and repeat till you won, is a to effective way to harm competitive WvW to be possible without any cost.

I guess a tournament where all this is possible without any limitation will give the support center and the moderators of this forum a lot of work

Just remember that: ANet is not selling Gold

ANet is selling Gems to get gemshop items and server-transfers. And beside storage extension and permanent-harvesting tools there is nothing in the gems-shop that helps you to play.

Gem-Gold is a player-to-player trade. One gain gold, the other gain gems, and both boost their goals with that.
