Guild bank slots are less likely to be supported if you run into issues over regular bank slots. Does this mean support wouldn’t help you at all? No. However, I would be cautious about loading your personal guild banks up with anything that you feel has high value. This is mainly why I never bothered with a personal guild bank and instead use a mule or two.
If you use a personal guildbank, with only you as member, how you run into issues?
Anyway the multi-guild-system is a little weird in my opinion. As the otherguys showed examples, some people have guilds for nearly every purpose now. In former times you had one guild with people you like and some you don’t (which is part of life). Some were skilled to run hardcore content, others were interested in other stuff. You had an average group of people.
The thing is, we can set the limit to 8, 10, 15, 20 it does not matter. There will always be people who want more. The more slots we have, the less important guilds become. And that should not be the goal. Looking at the guy with the list of 10, it really reminds me of the LFG tool.
How do you need more than 5 guilds?
Guild 1: Raids
Guild 2: World bosses
Guild 3: PvP
Guild 4: WvW
Guild 5: PvE?
- Raids
- Personal bank
- Personal bank
- Social guild for friends
- Social guild for fractals
- Social guild for WvW
- High-octane fractal
- High-octane WvW
- Guild community, e.g. for 3-head worm
- Free slot for donating
Hate to say it, but it’s your choice to have 2 guild banks, and your choice to have 2 social guilds.
Back in GW1 you had your guild and that was it. Alliance came along later, but really it was still one guild.

The raids didn’t cost you anything.
6 devs in a Legendaries team. 6 devs working on a single raid wing. They could have pulled either team, but they decided on legendaries. So yeah, legendary set was worth a raid wing.
But we are talking one team 2/3rds of the way done with it’s promised content Vs another team that’s only 1/3rd done which at their current pace may be done in 2019. They’re only equivalent as bullet points on a promised feature list.
We don’t know how close they were to completion on other legendaries. We do know that at least Mace wasn’t long behind the shortbow, and that all of the rest were in some partial stages.
Still doesn’t change anything. That next raid wing did cost us legendaries.
Also, as Just a Flesh Wound said, if the Raids were never a thing, then those developer slots could have been assigned to LS long ago and we’d never be in this situation.
And we wouldn’t have ended with Legendary Armor gated behind a content aimed at a tiny minority, which would be an additional gain in my eyes.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
The raids didn’t cost you anything.

If they didn’t have the 6 Devs working on raids then those Devs could have been working
on other content. They wouldn’t have been so far behind and needed to pull the Devs off the Legendaries. Therefore, the Devs working on raids cost us the Legendaries.
ANet may give it to you.

And then people wonder why they don’t tell us everything they’re working on and when they expect it to be finished…
^this.
I find it funny that compensation culture has made it to video games.

after seeing the toxicity of many in raids, And I raid a lot…. I’m gonna say no, it’d just be used to discriminate people.
The difference between gw 1 and 2 in difficulty was that gw 1 had a paty of 5 was it? So for tough enemies you had to plan your skill usage and even leave change up skills and return
It had a party of 8. In the beginner areas it was 4.
It was also entirely instanced and you didn’t have to rely on people.
(edited by LanfearShadowflame.3189)
I’ve put some thought into this and decided that the statement “6 devs” is probably false. I refuse to believe that six people have been working primarily on legendaries since HoT released, and have failed to produce any content. This is simply unfathomable to me, to the point that I don’t believe it is true.
These devs have more likely been working on other projects, and have had some occasional involvement with the legendaries. Being pulled from one project to another constantly, and never able to focus. I believe we’re seeing the result of that.
Go read some glassdoor reviews; ANet suffers from serious management and structural problems. This is obvious to anyone who has worked in a mismanaged office before. The symptoms are all there. I was a logistics and e-commerce manager for a shoe company for many years. I have seen first hand just how much time can be wasted when the executive team has you doing senseless kitten and confusing your employees. I believe ANet’s studio is basically a Dilbert comic.
I do not trust this company anymore.
5 months, 6 developers, and only 1 legendary weapon. Must be nice working for ANet, getting away with that sort of thing I mean.
While I think the game is more in need of content and the decision to move away from legendaries is a good one, I really have to question how circumstances got so dire that this decision even had to be made in the first place. What exactly were these 6 devs doing? It’s not just them either, every “major” balance update is just a small bunch of changes that often follow inscrutable logic and only lend to make the game more imbalanced, yet there’s apparently an entire team dedicated to balance. Then there’s like the other 100~ people working on the main game in general that -as far as I can tell- essentially have nothing to show. I find myself wondering “what exactly do these devs do all day?” all the time.
I’m studying a degree in animation right now, and -as an animator- I actually can’t fathom what they were doing for these past months. If I worked at the snail’s pace that ANet works at, I would’ve failed a long time ago and would’ve probably had several disciplinary hearings for not handing in assignments.
(edited by Fashion Mage.3712)
While I think all the posts threatening legal action and lamenting how ANet deceived us are quite exaggerated to say the least, I have to say I’m baffled by how 6 people can work that long on a few collections and then don’t even get things done in time.
Yes, it requires adding a bit flavour text and place NPCs, but if I look at most of them (i.e. Fractal Backpiece collection), it cannot be that hard to add the lines ’I’m looking for thing.’ ‘I have thing!’ ‘Thanks.’ to the game (to paraphrase the Fractal Researcher dialogues…). To me this proves yet again that the people working on the game seem to have no clue at all what’s going on or how it works. But even so, pulling the required information to find the right places and events that fit the lore cannot take this long. Or to be more specific, it must not.
That being said, I don’t know how the internals look like and how much the team had to help out in other areas. But for the longest time I got the feeling that ANet has tremendous problems with communication, both external and internal. And I really hope this will be resolved in the near future. Not even so much to get information beforehand, but for ANet to stop burning manhours and money on things that get re-broken with subsequent patches or take way longer than they should.
To end on a friendlier note, I do hope that Mike’s decision will commence the restructuring and refocusing of the resources and steer to game into a direction most people can be satisfied with. Seeing how he was technically in charge all those years anyway I’m not holding my breath, but I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt and reserve my judgement for now.
At any rate, thanks for letting us know.
To everyone saying they don’t care and would rather have more content, in short, you’re all dumb. If you let them get away with breaking their promises on things that were advertised as being a part of Heart of Thorns, then they will just do it again, only next time it will be about something you actually do give a kitten about.
At this point I don’t even care about legendaries, I care that it was part of the expectations of what I and many others paid for as advertised, then suddenly we are told it’s not Happening.
Anet you keep making terrible decisions.
Your decisions to ruin dungeons and “focus on fractals” even though fractals has had next to no changes aside from making them more casual was awful.
Your decision to add " a new pvp mode" was essentially just the legacy of the foefire map with 2 gates and added doorbreakers and champions. Adding NPC’s to pvp is just asinine.
Your decision to give people 4 maps instead of delivering on the scale of what an expansion should have been was equally as bad as the extremely short and anti climactic storyline of HOT.
Your decison to add Esports and balancing classes around PvP has gone over terribly.
kitten at this point anet just release the legendaries, we don’t need the stupid precursor journies, you owe the people SOMETHING.
The fact that it’s rumoured to be getting fixed makes me just lump all you guys justifying it in with people who claimed mossman tree was not an exploit before it was confirmed – people with crap attitudes who make up whatever they like to justify it.
If all lanes were properly manned and being played, you wouldnt be able to go south and kil the frog/breacher. If people weren’t being taught to leech they would actually be learning event mechanics. For everyone player who contributes when jumping octovines there are maybe 15 who do not, and half of them have never even had the chance to experience the event. I know this as fact as I have seen commanders teach the lane hopping to brand new players.
And how am I jealous? I have luminate backpack, I have all my ex machina stuff, I have astralaria and I have golden child and my viper gear. I literally do not need this event other than for fun or to help other people. That doesn’t make it fair that its the worst players there get the most reward.
(edited by Berserk Steve.1530)
Lmao the excuses I read to justify this behavior are hilarious. Also, if Steve was “jelly” about someone getting more loot he would do it too, not want it to be fixed. heavy breathing
If everyone would work equally, there would be no need for you to go and help south. We are talking about people that move lanes and AFK AT THE SIDE waiting for the people in the lane to do the work for them. Stop pretending their help is needed. The only thing they do is dps and upscale mobs if they’re not killed yet. This event scales so their dps isn’t even needed. I’ve seen west being done by three players only.
I am referring to the large number of people who taxi in and zerg around so that they get 100% participation and maximum meta rewards including 4 octo chests for minimum effort. If everyone did this the meta event would fail.
The big concern I have hear, really, though, is “Why has it taken 6 months to create a single new legendary weapon?”
That poll. It’s…. not well worded or really relevant to the situation. The situation is far more complex than a choice by the Devs between Legendaries and Living World. There’s also the promises they made when selling the expansion that new Legendaries would be regularly released.
If it was only an choice between the two before they sold the expansion then I’m all for more LS as I don’t care about Legendaries. But once you bring in the promises that the expansion was sold on, then it’s a way different situation. It feels shady at the very least.
All I can guess is there is something wrong inside the workforce. It’s stretched too thin or its unorganized, or something, and they had to retrench. I’m not so sure they made the right decision though. There’s not only legal considerations but there’s also loss of trust that comes from reversing promises made after purchases done. It’s concerning and makes me wonder what else they might reverse after I’ve paid for it.
ANet may give it to you.
Apple makes Overpriced and terrible computers (Hardware wise) and game developers prefer windows because Windows just works with all kinds of hardware. Nvidia, AMD, and Intel make tons of innovative and powerful hardware that Windows supports while Macs lack these kinds of support because of OSX has hardware restrictions. A game developer wants to be able to design and create games without limits, they tend to enjoy innovating where they can while a real PC gamer would rather upgrade their hardware for their PC to take full advantage for the latest tech that the developers made for them.
Apple doesn’t want their users to upgrade their computers to the latest tech. They don’t play nice with other hardware manufacturer so they lack innovation for the future of computing. A Mac user would have to buy a brand new computer for more money with less power since OSX again, doesn’t support the latest hardware. You can only use the hardware Apple wants you to use and you’re stuck with that hardware for good. The main hardware that gets upgraded for gaming is the CPU and GPU which you can’t do on the new Macs anyways.
Linux is just like Windows that the OS supports pretty much any hardware from what I read. While OSX is more popular than Linux as a general OS, I believe Linux would be more successful for GW2 and GW2 should be released on Steam to open up a more broad audiance interested in gaming. OSX has never been for gaming because hardware limitations on the OS… It’s like trying to develop a game for a console instead of a real PC. A Mac can’t even run Oculus Rift VR gaming because Apple’s computers lack raw power in the GPU department.
I hope OSX users like you would realize Windows and Linux is the future for gaming on computers. If you don’t like it blame Apple and tell them to be open to other hardware manufacturer. Tell Apple to be more open like Linux and Microsoft regarding their OS. Don’t blame the game developers. They don’t make Apple computer… Apple makes Apple computers and those computers are not a viable option for gaming for reason I stated above. I say Apple is the blame for the lack of game developer support in Macs.

How does a 5-man raid dev team put out more content in 3 months than a 6-person legendary weapon dev team?
Also, this is a huge mistake lol. Legendary weapons are one of the few things that keep people playing this game for a long time…the months of farming to craft them. Really bad.
Actually I don’t believe HoT was ever supposed to be a 100% product any more than Guild Wars 2 was at launch.
Do you think Guild Wars 2 launched with everything it was supposed to launch with. Hell the trading post didn’t work at launch. The guesting feature, supposed to be in the game didn’t work at launch or for months after.
Fractals didn’t come in at launch or ascended gear, but anyone who thinks they made and tested Fractals in 3 months or so is fooling themselves. That was stuff they were working on before launch that didn’t make it into launch. It was already likely almost finished and being tested on launch day.
Hell, even Arah story mode dungeon felt like they simple ran out of time for it. But a lot of really cool stuff came later.
This expansion feels a lot like the first expansion. It needs a boatload of tweaks, but stuff is starting to come. The raids that came shortly after launch, has now had a second raid wing, and my guess is in another two months or so they’ll have the third.
After that Living Story Season 3 comes in and I have pretty high expectations from it, because I like the method of telling stories I saw in HoT more than I liked the way the story was told in Season 2.
And a lot of this expansion was rewriting the way the game works. Masteries and elite specializations took time to create, but they’re in the game now and Anet won’t have to create them again.
Yes, I think this expansion wasn’t 100%, just as I felt the core game wasn’t 100%.
I’m not sure I care, because I’ve always felt like I was buying a season pass, as well as an expansion.
I think the scope was bigger than what they could achieve ie – they wantd to do more, but were limited by time and resources. The story is probably the best example aside of the legendary weapon fiasco. They wanted something that was a short, burst. But, that makes no sense for an expansion story. It was just over so quickly. If this was a deliberate choice, then perhaps it was timeframes that narrowed down that scope to such limitations. Expectations for a long and strong story for expac 2 will be high now to rectify this.
New fractals weren’t advertised. Raids we knew would be delayed and that was to allow people to settle into the main content. That was a sensible decision imo.
Gliding in Tyria made more sense as a feature post-HoT and was part reactive to the popularity of it anyway.
WvW…I think they just got it wrong there. I don’t think time or readiness was the issue. It just went wrong and was misjudged badly.
I don’t feel cheated – I have thoroughly enjoyed the expac. I don’t dismiss the issues at hand many have discussed mind you and lessons will have to have been learned for the next one.
this was not intended to be a dialogue about communication.
I hate to be that guy but… from your original post here….
This thread is intended to allow the continued discussion of communications
It seems to me now that you might have meant this as a discussion between players not between players and anet – but that is exactly the point minbariguy is making. This thread comes across, unintentionally or not, as a fly-trap. This is not only unnecessary but frustrating for players. There has been sufficient discussion between players on the subject of communication. Players are seeking discussion with anet. I just think we have a chance here to make this thread about communication actually mean something. Or if not this thread, then maybe another which explicitly states that it is a discussion between anet and players.
(Edited to remove some rambling thoughts.)

AMA is a “Reddit” thing however, it is usually because it is done for celebrity interviews and there is a moderation element involved in the Q&A process. Since that was pretty much a non-issue here, I’m not really sure why these forums couldn’t be utilized, other than their personal preference for Reddit as has been voiced before.
Reddit is far better suited for handling a conversation of this nature. Responses are threaded individually, so bits of the conversation are easily linked, followed, and responded again to. On this board there might be 5-10 pages of posts between question and response, depending on how much attention the initial post gets..
Then they could have at least announced it with some notice, right? I mean, we all heard, and do hear about these “guild chats” every 5 minutes… on the launcher, on the forums.. all with notice. Point is, and as this “communications” (haha! I literally giggle when I write that now) thread goes, they do not know what it means to communicate here. But you can literally “summon” their presence into threads over on Reddit.
What they should do is bite the bullet and move all official communication there, right? Or as posted above by Chyanne Waters.8719, at the very least, post a link to Reddit on the GW2 page along with the ones to their FB and Twitter page. It doesn’t matter if ANet “controls” the conversations there. What matters is they are having conversations there. They’re not having them here. The average customer wouldn’t even fathom going to Reddit to speak to anyone from ANet, they’d come here… and be greeted to cobwebs.. and if it’s not official, why the heck does ANet spend so much time over there answering player questions that are asked here, too!?
It’s bologna. We’ve heard that the forum software is outdated here, the developer of the forums ran away like the story of the dish and the spoon, the layout at Reddit is nicer, they send them cupcakes, etc, etc. So. Sick. Of. The. Deflection.
Communication. Speaking of. Has anyone read this post in Just a flesh wound’s daily Reddit Updates thread? I bet that customer would have loved not having to go to Reddit to get some communication.
-Edit- I see a few more posts from another thread (2 above mine) got “merged” into this. Cool beans.
(edited by Siobhan.5273)
It feels like they sent everyone here to talk about communication, then they got up and left the conversation and never came back.
My cynical side can’t help thinking that was the intention all along: a pretense at communication to placate the masses I’m open to being convinced otherwise. Time will tell.
It hasn’t escaped my attention either that the only red posts are from Gaile when she started this thread.
Back before I started that Dev post in Reddit thread I kept seeing these posts on the forum where people were begging for help on precursor crafting. There were a number of events that required failure and this was setting up deliberate griefing as well as innocent event completion that stopped people who had been trying for days to get their needed item. People were coming to the forum and making thread after thread trying to get a red post about this situation. If there was even one red post answering them, I never saw it.
Then one day, I found the reddit dev tracker and browsing through that I found a red post talking about this situation to someone over there. It was over a month old at that time. That irritated me. They posted an important piece of information there and couldn’t take the time to post that on just one of the many posts here? That’s when and why I decided to make that thread.
From comments on the forum I know that some people think I’m doing ANet’s job for them as a favor to ANet and to suck up to ANet (I was outright told that in a thread on this forum). I’m not. I’m doing it as a favor to the other posters on this forum and I’m doing it because ANet’s not doing their own job by making relevant information centralized and easily accessible. Whether ANet likes me doing it is irrelevant to me and personally I hope it embarrasses them a little. Who knows, maybe it will embarrass them enough that one day they’ll do their own job and make sure that posts on non official sites get cross posted on their official form.
I clapped for this post. Seriously.
I appreciate everything you do and all the information that you bring to us, everyday, often multiple times a day.
You are top notch in my book.

I find it really really sad that anet posts more on reddit than their own official forums. Like the whole change up with Colin. Really, courtesy trouble to post it in your own official forums?
I love it how they mentioned that posting isn’t a requirement in their company but they always talk about how much they love their game, and yet they don’t love using their own official forms. I wonder if they actually realize people don’t care whether it’s a requirement of their company or not, they send the message that says that reddit is more important than their own official forums. It’s pretty insulting actually.
reddit had over 230 million individual visitors last month. why do you all think the devs use that forum? really because it allows for better usability?^^
More to the point, how many of those 230 million users were Guild Wars fans?
