[Suggestion] World Map Completion Accountwide

No it wouldn’t be fine. Gifts of exploration are obtained from world completion and required for legendaries. If the world complete was character wide you couldn’t make more than 2 legendaries.

If it’s really boring, don’t do it.

Blame Abaddon, he loves your tears.

Why are you doing map completion if it’s so boring to you? The only value it has is 2 Gifts of Exploration upon completing it. Everything else you gain on the way can be gained in other ways too. And if it would be accountwide, what do you propose for the Gifts of Exploration?

[Suggestion] Mordrem Blooms

Since we have these “current events” spawning all over the world similarly to the original events to gain Mordrem Blooms is there any reason why they could not be added to the drop table for participating in these events?

The events themselves are not bugged and as the blooms were only available for a limited time due to certain bugs with the events themselves it seems like a perfect opportunity to give people the ability to earn something more than just AP.

If you have ~21 minutes to spare every day, you’ll benefit more in the long run by buying extra accounts until you have 30. You’ll get over 2K gold every 28 days which comes to about 6.4K gems every 28 days. That’s roughly an $80 value.

30 accounts at say $30 each would be $900. It would take a full 11 months to break even at that rate. For a lot of people $900 is a fair amount of money to spend on a video game where it doesn’t start paying off until you have logged on every day on 30 accounts for 11 months in a row without fail.

Not if you bought them all when they were $10.

Yes. But I was responding to the post saying that you could buy them now at the non $10 price till you have 30 accounts in order to log on for gold.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they went back on that and tied it behind a BLTP outfit/glider skin, and ofc this would be at least 3000 gems because you’re getting more than just a glider/outfit

If Mike is calling the shots again, I am going to be really, really surprised if that happens. He has a lot of good will from me as a customer and his reappearance is what makes me hopeful.

Home instance nodes...

I do have iron and hard wood at home, if you know what I mean…

Otherwise, you’re mentioning 2 of the easiest to farm resources:
- iron, go to Brisban Wildlands, NW corner. Bring your alts! Poosh, you just got 350-400 iron in 1h
- hard wood: fireheart rise (SW corner), Iron Marches (center of the map), Sparkfly Marsh (South and South East), should also bring you almost the same amount. Sometimes, Mount Maelström (west- north west) is also very rich in hard wood, or at least platinium in the worst case.

In other words: no need for home nodes. If you convert gems to gold, a resource node in home instance would take years to make it profitable compared to wp costs and time spent running.

No question that you are right about how easy they are to farm. For me, I would just like to have the nodes for completion’s sake. I’m a bit OCD that way.

Shared inventory slots are available
1 for 700
3 for 1890
(1 bought the set of 3 and I now have 14 shared inventory slots)

Yeah it looks like they’ve increased the maximum you can buy again. I’ve got 5 already (plus the freebie that came with the level 80 boost) and it’s now telling me I can buy 8 more.

Which brings the current total to 13 purchased + 1 free with HoT.

I assume we’ll eventually have 20 total. Maybe 21, but considering we’ve never had more than 20 bag slots that seems unlikely.

Edit: And maybe by the time they get to 20 I’ll have learned that I can always take things out of the slots again and to stop agonising over whether I’m making the best possible use of them.

The best part about any wings is folding them up to rest under a shield , And having them come flying out for the attack .
If any of my wings showed all 100% of the time I wouldn’t be able to wear any wings .

It’s un-natural for a winged creature to not “hide” their wings when at ease.

What? None of the backpacks period “fold up” and hide behind your shield. They just flat out disappear and reappear. Not only does it look bad as it causes a break, but its horrible that people are forced to pick whether they want a shield or a legendary backpiece because they can’t see both at the same time when not in combat

Dragon Stand is probably my favorite meta event in the game. Because I really am more interested in feeling like I’m part of an invasion force than just fighting bosses. The dragon bosses, don’t really do much for me. I think Triple Threat is silly. Particularly the wurm that swallows you and you have to find a spear inside him, over and over. This is so immersion breaking to me it’s not funny.

But I can completely immerse myself in Dragon Stand.

Not even the resetting that is the worst for Dragon’s Stand. People are so set on killing the Dragon when asked for help with HP’s, interest points, or even vistas, they are rude and selfish and only want to kill Dragon nothing else. I even had someone tell me to leave the map which is extremely rude. Arenanet has made Dragon’s Stand very hostile environment when people are trying to complete the map. Can they possibly make it so people can get the HP’s, Vistas, or even interest points between the Dragon killing event?

People are primarily there for the meta. It’s rude and selfish to want them to do anything but that.

You have a full 30 minutes to do map completion after the meta. Everything can be done solo once access has been given which is done through progressing the meta. There’s absolutely no reason you need help.

1) You can start the map at any time so long as you have enough time to complete the blighting towers. The average is about an an hour but it can be done in less time than that. Find a map and use the LFG to ferry people onto to it. Just having the LFG post will make it visible to others that there is a map trying to start up.

2) Replayability is the same in pretty much every map.

3) Zergfests existed before HoT and you still see them in pretty much all Tyria core maps. All world bosses are Zergfests with a couple requiring some coordination. Farming Orr, and temples, are the same.

4) This is actually something I dislike and it has to do with people stuck with the lemmings mentality and only do what others have done. You see this all the time with meta builds and people who follow them without knowing why the build is what it is and when and what can be adjusted depending on the situation.

You saw it again when Dulfy released her guide for Vale Guardian and she now has to add disclaimers otherwise people will assume that her squad composition is the only way to do it. It’s also going on in TD when people are still crying out no CC (even at Scar…) without knowing why that method became favorable in the first place.

Going back to DS, the actual mechanic of the fight is not to circle around like how people are doing. There are pods below that you can destroy which will prevent the endless spawning of mordrem that come up the ramp when all 3 collectors are down. Players will not even attempt doing it that way even though there’s a good chance that you would only need a handful of people to handle the preservers for the collectors and pods enabling the Zerg to burst down the bosses at a much quicker pace and with less risk.

6) This was a bandaid fix to where the event would stall.

7) I’ve gotten all pods on the map as well as collection the items (e.g. Vista, poi, HP) that require the meta to be completed within that 15 minutes several times on different characters. Also keep in mind that doing the meta itself does not award you enough machetes to open every single pod.

8) If players went as a group and cleared everything, they’d be able to get the pods without risk of death.

Necromancer/Reaper.

- awesome theme
- amazing sustain when played right
- great power builds that can dish heavy damage while keeping reasonable defenses (due to getting massive crit chance from traits, freeing up precision points)
- top of the pack at fighting vs condition heavy enemies
- serious cc ability
- eats boon spamming professions and mobs alive with massive amount of boon corrupting skills
- best kitten reviver out there if traited for it.
- complex to build, but not complex to play once in a fight.
- has one of the best access to varied conditions
- powerful, “under the radar” skills that few remember about, but make necro viable in dungeons (projectile blocking aoe, shout that makes all of his attacks unblockable for a certain time, might for party with “blood is power”)

And all of this in versatile, fun package that won’t get dull and boring 3 days in, like let’s say a warrior or guardian.

Reaper, if you have HoT. It’s a beast. Also all the skills and utilities flow beautifully together without needing rapid complicated rotations; it’s actually a somewhat slow hitting class that feels faster thanks to the instant shouts. I won’t say I never die on my reaper in the HoT maps, but I sure die a lot less, I even get downed a lot less, than on any other profession I use. If I hadn’t set up my mesmer/chronomancer to be my dungeons and fractals main I’d have a reaper in that role. It’s just so satisfying to wade in and beat things up.

I can’t say it for sure works great in WvW since I haven’t done WvW since before the now-gone desert borderlands arrived but zerg fighting is probably much like dinosaur/mordrem pack fighting in HoT. Ask actual WvWers for confirmation

Acknowledgement might be seen as tacit agreement. I don’t actually believe Anet does anything in a vacuum. I think they have meetings and get teams together and discuss things. So a forum post goes up, who should respond? Which team member? When? After they bring it up at a meeting they schedule?

One would think meetings would already have an agenda.

How many ideas should be parsed at these meetings. 2? 3? 50? Which 50? How long will it take?

Who then gets the job of going back to the forums and responding to each of those threads.

I used to work as the acquisition’s editor for a publishing company. We had a bunch of authors we dealt with regularly and received another thousand or more submissions every month from authors who’s work we didn’t know. Those manuscripts went on a slush pile.

We didn’t, I promise you, read every one of those manuscripts in detail. We skimmed. Many of those manuscripts were rejected halfway through the first page. We didn’t need to read the whole thing. We wouldn’t have had TIME to read the whole thing.

This whole we need to be acknowledged stuff feels a bit ego-centric to me. You put ideas out there, and someone should respond, but they can’t because no one person is in charge of responses or what can and can’t be said. No reason to acknowledge an idea they’re not going to use. It’ll end up being seen as some sort of promise by a community that jumps on every phrase.

And after the next meeting when these ideas would ideally be brought up…most of the people who work on games like this, or in publishing for that matter, are flat chat all the time.

I didn’t have time to personally response to authors who spent months working on manuscripts. Almost all the work submitted received form letter rejections, not because I don’t care about writers. Not because I wasn’t interested in getting manuscripts.

They were given form letters because I physically wouldn’t have had time to read a thousand manuscripts a month and respond personally to all of them. It’s ludicrous.

So I did what I had to do to get the job done.

Game developers work hard at trying to get coding done and they work hard at finding bugs in codes. They don’t have the job description of reading the forums, nor should they.

Bigger publishing companies have first readers who read the manuscripts that come in and only the best get to the editor’s desk. I didn’t have that luxury.

The best, the very best Anet could possibly do is have an intern go through ideas and list them out, however, by the time they met and discussed it and came up with some kind of plan/answer, those threads would be weeks old already.

I think there are a whole lot of people who have never been in the business posting in these threads who have no idea of what it is to work on deadlines and try to get stuff out in a timely manner.

Many people are telling us we’re in the middle of a content drought. Hey, I have a great idea. Let’s let the devs sit and read all the forums too.

It’s a full time job, and it’s not in their contract.

As someone who has a very good working knowledge of computers, their capabilities, games, having done some programming and even work on game maps for FPSs in my spare time; my suggestions don’t come without a lack of forethought.

…Perhaps proofread that again.

More seriously without going into quite what suggestions you’re speaking about it’s difficult to really make any kind of analysis of the merits of your suggestion and you seem to be laboring under the assumption that simply because ANet doesn’t respond to your suggestions that they aren’t reading the forums and taking notes.

We know they read the forums, they have a community management team and Gaile is actually a very frequent poster compared to competing MMO community managers. The last three WvW design polls were pulled very specifically from what people were calling for in the WvW forums. Simply with that in mind- that they’d even entertain the idea of permanently pulling DBL out of rotation- I find it extremely difficult to connect the idea of them not listening to the forums with their actions.

Just because they are not actively participating in every single suggestion thread doesn’t mean that they’re not paying attention to suggestions. It’s simply a matter of manpower and effective application of their time.

Those who are 10k behind me wont catch me no matter what, those who are 10k ahead of me I wont catch, its not about them, its about what I can achieve and being restricted for something that makes no sense shouldn’t be happening in a game like this.

The only solid reason to add your game to steam is if you plan to use its social back end, or you need the marketplace exposure. Valve takes a cut of the profits in exchange for these services, and it is usually a good value if you don’t want to absorb the price of having your own online shop, friends list, etc. etc.

This is why you see many larger publishers moving away from Steam (EA’s Origin being a prime example) as once you have a framework in which you can offer the same services and benefits of Valve’s service, and have a large number of products to sell, it can become a net loss compared to doing it with your own marketplace.

Anet and NCSoft’s back end is pretty robust, so there’s little incentive to use Steam.

I love Steam, and when given the option i will usually buy my games on that platform. From a consumer standpoint it would certainly be more convenient if everyone used a single global marketplace to sell games online, but ultimately it isn’t realistic, and if it were the case the lack of competition would lead to even more customer unfriendly practices as the natural consequence of a monopoly.

Unlike competing platforms, however, Steam does offer an option to integrate third party apps in to its interface and front end, and even allow the steam overlay to function (though for obvious reasons it is not officially QA’d for third party applications.)

I know a lot of steam users that prefer that frontend for all of their games because of the universal social tools, so they just add non-steam game shortcuts for all the things they play outside of steam. Once you do, the experience is pretty much the same as a natie steam game, with the exception of automatic updates. Since most non-steam games have their own launchers to handle those updates its not such a big deal really.

I don’t think we’ll see a GW3 – I think GW2 will simply have a long enough life to not require it. And if I am wrong and there is one, it will be 10+ years before we see it. If there is stuff they can’t do with GW2, then I expect they’ll start from scratch rather than redevelop the previous engine. It took them a long time to get GW2 off the ground and even then it wasn’t fully finished (although I;d argue more so than most MMO’s I’ve played from launch)

What would be interesting is if they did one in say 10-15 years time, we’d be getting into more fully steampunk/archaic SF style backdrop for Tyria judging by the way technology is jumping forward so rapidly in game. That would be interest me a lot.

They have not finished telling the story of GW2 yet, I don’t think GW3 is even an itch in its daddy’s pants as it where yet.

I’m sure they have ideas on how they can improve upon GW2.
And it doesn’t hurt to ask some questions about crucial game features.
-Will there be mounts ;p
-GW had no jump,GW2 has jump,GW3 will have double jump?

I’m sure they do, but as far As GW3 is concerned, it is a pointless topic. Lots of things changed in GW1 from the time it launched to the time they stopped adding content. GW2 now is very different to what it was at launch, I’m sure ANet have many ideas as to what they want to do. The only time we will see a GW3, is when they can no longer do what they want with in GW2 dew to limitations with the game engine.

Maybe then we’ll see a GW3. But then look at WoW. There has been no WoW 2, and I don’t think we will see one, not anytime soon any way.

GW2 does succeed in creating interesting environments compared to GW1.

GW3 will not be for a very very long time if at all but hopefully the devs will learn from their mistakes and make a decent game.
