GW2’s anti cheat system works alot like Valve’s VAC ban system. The bans are delayed in order to make sure the ones coding the hacks don’t ever really know which cheat got detected.
This person who thought mining under the node and using teleporting was clever. It’s old and very likely rooted out. You won’t see him/her much longer.
I think at minimum shard selection would alleviate the main issues with finding roleplay. After that, any combination of:
-More appearance options (outfits, beards, tattoos, etc)
-Short character description
Full bio has always been a bit excessive, as it’s stuff that should be learned while RPing. But a short description of a couple of additional details (a visible inscription, a specific tattoo or scar, an instrument or book carried, voice like Danny DeVito, smells like full-court basketball) would help ease introduction of new visual items.
Adding a megaserver “type” would be moderatley easy since its simply more freedom to let players pick which server they want to be part of within the megaserver.
Honestly however, making this even easier, simply make it possible that when your in a city hub, I.E. Lions Arch, DR, Hoelbrek etc… you have the “option” of selecting Roleplay as a server preference, allowing you to enter the roleplaying instance of that city and “only” that version, granted it might not be as effective as making it entirley open world but it would be easier to programme and make.
There were enough roleplayers at launch to completely fill two servers (Tarnished Coast and Piken Square, having been selected by rp’ers as the unofficial rp servers pre launch, became near impossible to get on soon after launch). That’s a good hunk of players, enough to be an important demographic to consider.
And yet my guild went to TC and none of us roleplay. Saying that there were two servers full of roleplayers is not necessarily accurate. We don’t know what percentage of the people coming to those servers actually RP.
For example, I come to RP servers in every game I play because I like the people on them better. They tend to be more helpful or carebear which appeals to me. It matches my in game temperment, even though I don’t RP. And I’m sure I’m not alone.
Several servers filled up pretty fast at launch and none of the others were RP servers, so it’s hard to say that even most people on TC or Piken Square RP. I don’t really believe that was every the case.
Not to say there isn’t an RP community but there’s no way to tell from an unofficial server being full that it was mostly RPers. In fact, I’m wondering how many people who chose TC didn’t even know it was the unofficial RP server.
Also fixing the range of /em being seen would be nice as well, as it way too large. Putting it as the same range as text I think would fix that and not sure why it has not been done all this time.
Please! This needs to happen. Rata Sum and the Grove are some of the worst locations to visit because of the emote range.

I agree. It’s too far. I’m guessing it’s so for the NPCs that try and get your attention when there’s an event on and they want to tell you about it, but it’s a little too far I think.

This should be done immediately and there is no reason why the range should be as long as it is now. I’m tired of seeing these endless roleplay emote floods while being in totally different part of DR. I have way more roleplayers on my block list than people blocked for real reasons because of this.
You do know if emotes bother you so much, you can turn them off? Me thinks you’re just you block roleplayers just because you don’t like roleplayers. Well, hmmf!
Just illustrates the problem of the emotes being seen too far away, for everyone, no matter what their gaming preferences my be.

Your assuming everyone in the roleplaying community has the same interests as you, someone whom I already know on a personal level for negative reasons and who has created a number of negative problems for me and several other players in the past.
OP, you’re not the RP community, your a part of it.
Dont think you represent everyone.
If you want me to be productive however, lets be productive.
Your suggestions are mostly based on things that would take at least a full content patch to add, not all of which will ever make it into the game.
Dying tonics is pointless, honestly, its better if they just-re-added old outfits as transmog pieces.
Character description would be nice, but honestly has no real impact on the rp community tbh. Frankly I feel it could create more metagaming, as people would use it to abuse secrets written in the descriptions themselves.
Turning glows off is more likely going to be a graphical change than anything to help with FPS if it ever becomes a thing, for purely cosmetic reasons? nah, they wont change the shiny weapon philosophy.
Choice of animation would take a hell of a time to work on, were talking a full expansion, even 2, not likely going to happen, we may however see more animations for emotes.
New hairstyles were already datamined and on the works so beards will probably come eventually.
Cape and cloaks were being worked on since launch, they will come its just a matter of “when” not if, probably by next expansion.
The pet option thing is not likely going to be a thing, a-net made pets for a reason, they’re combat assistance for rangers.
Anyway, weather you take offence at my rebuttle or not, im simply sobering your dreams, not trying to drown them. Some of your ideas have merit but the reality is, most of them are very optimistic and would require “alot” of work for the game and tuning.
Often the easier solution is to make a simpler way to apply such content, like adding old outfits to the gemstore instead of making tonics dyeable.

That is not totaly true since there are none rpers joining those servers aswell, I know for a fact I dont rp and Im on piken square.
While we do have some roleplayers in gw2.
It would be a lie to say a large portion of the playerbase are that, it’s like the raiders saying they are the majority
They just didn’t anticipate the move to 4k.
I’m on Mac, so even if I have a 4k screen the mac Client barely runs at a playable fps even in 1080p.
It’s a bit ridiculous.
I recently upgraded to full 4K on my system. Everything looks amazing. The only thing I’m finding, for obvious reasons, is that the UI is very tiny. I have it set on the largest setting (Larger).
Is there any chance this can have an even bigger (Largerer/Largerest) setting in the future?
And, as an added wish list, it would be really really really nice to be able to customize the windows individually instead of the entire UI.
I know this may sound a little nit picky, but this is how we are able to directly interact each day. Being able to adjust my ‘window to the world’ a little bit more would be … incredulously pleasing. Thanks -

Downgrade to a lower resolution. “Problem” fixed. This is what happens when you try to play a game in conditions far beyond what it’s development had access to, ie 4k was limited to, as far as I recall, cinematic format in theaters until recently.
In the 4Q15 NCSOFT Power Point presentation, it was stated that “In 4Q royalty revenue enhancement was driven by B&S China and GW2 China”.
But what defines failure? It sounds like NCSOFT isn’t upset with the royalties (China GW2 is booked as royalties, not as GW2 direct income) from China, so was it a failure? Or are we talking “failure” in terms of the game as a whole?
For those following along at home, it’s “Royalties” because a different company actually manages the game in China. They imposed certain additional requirements on the game and how the cash shop works and handle sales. They pay ANet/NCSOFT royalties for use of the franchise.
Game needs a new publisher in order to go in Chinese market.
and currently all publishers in China are way greedier than Anet, so financially, Anet not making huge amount of money as they do in the west, and plus some game contents are changed by the publisher ( you can pay to be a patron, or become a vip whatever it is called. Also, there is an official store that sells gold….
you buy gold from bots get banned still only via official store by using real life money and all these profit goes to publisher) and all of these are agreed on the contract.
Also there are huge amount of Chinese players that would like to p2w. No matter what games they play, they just spend tons of real life money to buy high end gears. so in Chinese gw2 pretty much everyone has 5+ legendary weapons. if you don’t have one either you really don’t have time, or you really don’t care about gears….
grinding only for bots and gold sellers. they don’t grind anymore.
imagine there are thousands of people would like to pay 100k dollars just to win the game (I have some real life friends who have paid 60k dollars just to win the stupid game, just to be better than all other players. Not in gw2)
so is NCSOFT, Anet dying? hardly… cos people don’t care they just buy everything with real life money, and plus gw2 in game items are way cheaper than most of other games.
but GW2 the game is pretty much dead, it lost 90% of its players within a year. Now all the players are in the same 2, 3 servers. The rest servers are either closed or about to, or Chinese gw2 cant even be bothered to close those ghost servers.
I know because I played Chinese gw2 for awhile when I was studying in China, and because I still log in like once a month
Lately on reddit there have been a person showing off GW2 chinese low-manning and speed clearing raid and they seem to be enjoying raid:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4t00uw/gw2_cn_5_man_vale_guardian_kill_remaining_0139/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4sbnhc/gw2_chn_gorseval_6_players_0516_no_updraft/
So seems like their behavior isn’t as different as us here.
Anyway, I don’t know about failing. Did it kill WoW there? No, of course not. Does it have healthy population and does it keep getting updated as fast as the wester version? Absolutely. So I think GW2 in China is as dead as GW2 in the west
You know all those kittenty Asian that launch under great fanfare by a new publisher in the west and are hailed as the next big MMO yet always suffer ~90% loss of players in the first 3 months because they are totally unsuited for the generally accepted way to play MMOs or are destroyed by the new publisher because of greed?
I think GW2 China is that in reverse.
Well I don’t find any use for the boosters so please remove them as well. In fact, remove any item that can be bought from the TP.
There are players who appreciate those tomes of knowledge even if there are other ways to obtain. them.
The boosters are at least not obtainable from other sources without paying gold/gems.
But I find them useless therefore they should be removed. Unidentified dyes should be removed because you can get them from the laurel merchant and some loot bags. Transmutation charges should be removed because you can get them from map completion and/or re-rolling a character to farm the town map completion. Crafting bags should be removed because you can get the mats by playing the game.
Isn’t that the entire premise on why you don’t want ToK in the bl chests? Whether or not there are other sources doesn’t matter.
No its not the entire premise. You cannot obtain thousands of those other items easily in the game simply by playing.
… after 75 keys, and nothing to show for it, I never bought them again. They really are not worth the money/gold, they will not change them untill people stop buying keys.
This is the premise. Better value from your gold/gems when opening chests. ToK and repair canisters are not value as they are so easily obtained elsewhere or are completely superfluous.
Chests are just not worth opening right now for 36g per key and part of that reason is the rubbish like these items that you get constantly.
BL chests have to include fluff. The idea is that they always drop junk, except sometimes they drop something mildly useful or interesting. (Oh, yeah, sometimes someone else hits the jackpot — that’s what keeps the rest of us playing and some of us spending cash to buy them.)
Don’t want the fluff? Delete it.
(I’m more sympathetic than that sounds — I also get bored with stuff filling up inventory, especially from boxes like BL chest. I just think it detracts from my fun to worry about it.)
I have no issue with fluff, such as boosters and merchants, bank access express items, thats why I open the chests, because they are actually useful. The other items do not belong in there.

Probably dead. In the next expansion, you’ll infuse his soul into a short bow to create a legendary weapon that shoots mini Garms.
ANet have said no capes, too many clipping issues with Charr, so blame them.
They could just get rid of the Charr altogether. A lot of my characters are Charr, and I would much rather have a cape than the Charr race
One human’s cape is another Charr’s Meatoberfest bib.
~EW
Those are White Mantle. White Mantle have always used capes, I don’t think they’re hinting at them being player-usable now.
Elite specializations are as close as we are going to get to that probably.
Do EOTM if you are looking for a fight. EOTM applies towards the reward track progress.
Will.9785I’ve just been wandering between 2 points back and forth capturing them.
Actually, that sounds like an ideal trip to WvW land to me.
I normally only go there for a daily when the PvE ones are lousy. There is always a queue for the top one, and sometimes for the next one, so I’m typically in EotM or one of the bottom two (Borderlands maps, right?)
Are you NA or EU? What time of day? I’ve been in early (3:00-4:00 AM PST) and late, and always see people.
As TheNecrosanct asked I would also like to know why the OP cares? What do you think you would get from having Map Completion static on your whole account?
Maybe the OP thinks they could have the maps already filled so they could always see what is where and use all WP on all characters? That’s the only benefit I can figure out.
Its fine as it is. And thematically it doesn’t make sense for your brand new level 1 adventurer to have exlpored all of Orr and HoT and completed all HP and hearts in central tyria just because some other character on your account already did it
