I don’t think it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure if it’s a good ROI but it’s not ridiculous.

NPCs in pve events already follow basic scripts for going to a location, capturing, and killing whatever is around. There’s already (albeit pretty poor), training dummies in the mists that use class abilities. Put those together, add a little spit shine, you might have something poorly passing as a pvp ai training mode.

Exactly, it can be done. We don’t expect them to have smart AI right off the bat. But with what they got right now, they can still put together something for newbies to play against. Over time, they can slowly improve the AI’s intelligence.

I think Spvp will benefit if it has a mode where 5 new players can match up against 5 AI’s. That way they can learn the game without getting stomp by veteran players. This will improve their experience in Spvp. I’m surprise the NPE did not include this new feature.

After eight years of life in Tyria, Chap has decided it is time to pursue some new dreams with his many talents. Chap has been a driving force on our team, in the community and part of our family at ArenaNet and he will be sorely missed. I have worked side by side with Chap for many years now. All the longbow rangers I saw in spvp last night melted pretty quick. Reflect & hard cc ftw. Much better in wvw where you can hide in the crowd.

You’ll need a lot more in defensive trees (Arcana+Water) to be viable in PvP.

Since they are really slow on adding new content, I really would like to see a comeback of the S1 stuff.

They could add them kinda like fractals. The letter you got about fractals says: “Fractals of the Mists! Re-live the greatest and most exciting moments from Tyria’s past as you test your strength, speed, and skill against some of the most formidable opponents from the annals of history.”
Doesn’t S1 fit there too?

They could add the bosses next to the fractals as “open maps”. Maybe a new portal near the fractal portal that sends you to a lobby with multiple portals leading to the (boss) regions of S1 (Twisted Marionette/Escape and Battle for Lions Arch). The events/bosses could start/spawn like the world bosses on a time each day.

Of course the loot shouldn’t be the same as in S1. It should just add more variety to the (hard) world bosses we have right now. Please Anet.

Agreed that the problem behind the LW is that it is just continuous DLC. And this is an issue in many ways. DLCs just never have the same impact as expansions. They are mini-expansions.

If I had to pick a single word or phrase to explain why DLC will never beat expansion to players, I’d place it as this: publicity

You never get the same feeling of interest for DLCs as you do for expansions in the same reason you’ll never be happier for an expansion over a new game (except in cases like WoW). Amount of content is part of it, expectations is another part, and just simply how it’s publicised is another.

The ‘Living World’ – a misnomer in of itself – will NEVER be able to solely support GW2, simply due to this difference in appeal between DLC, expansions, and full games.

Any attempts to compare games to a tv series or other styles of cinema is false. They are too different to compare. The Living World is not like a tv series. It’s like a series of DLCs that have the same plot – like a game that got butchered and we’re being served it piece by piece instead of the proper wholee, which is nothing less than uninteresting and borderline boring.

The Walking Dead can manage its style because the content is bigger chunks and is an adventure game, not an MMO. And I feel that ANet had looked at that game and thought ‘we can do that too’. No, no you cannot. The games are just too different.

Guild Wars 2 needs the publicity of an expansion, and that is something that the Living World will NEVER be able to provide. Ever.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

• Yes, I spent a lot of my career at Disney, but my passion is building great characters and telling great stories, regardless of genre. So, don’t expect the Elder Dragons to break into song anytime soon.
• Now that you mention it, I would probably buy a Charr backpack. But that isn’t my department or my focus. So even if you’ve watched the original Burn The Zeitgeist video, I strongly urge you to take a look at this video! Even very experienced Staff Elementalists may find some useful content here to improve their play!

Who I am

I am Azilyi who specializes in Staff for sPvP, but my love for Elementalist is all-encompassing. I have released several videos in the past which have received overwhelmingly positive feedback which you can find at the bottom of this post. I am in the top 1k players in Solo Queue playing only staff.

What The Video is about

This video was created for already-experienced Elementalists. I do not focus on general mechanics, and instead focus on combinations and skill-based plays.

This video is broken into three parts. The first part is a 1v1 dueling segment which shows the foundation combos required to defend yourself adequately. I chose to feature a duel against another dagger/dagger elementalist because, as my primary audience is elementalists, I felt they would more easily understand the mechanics at play.

What’s different

My previous videos were all done pre-patch. So a lot has changed. But unfortunately, Staff was not given many improvements. However, with so many radical changes its only natural that the meta has changed… and that has compelled me to change my build yet again. I think this build is quite simply the strongest yet… so give it a try.

The Build

The main point of this build is that even though it’s using Celestial Amulet, it has a +37% increase to damage overall. This produces incredible outgoing DPS effects, and meteor showers in excess of 5.5k. The amount of damage it produces will surprise you.

It features incredible group-utility and DPS without foregoing a sustainable defence. You can perform just about any role, including bunkering… but you’re most suited for long-range support casting.

Really it was most fun in pvp I have ever had in GW2 except team queues with 4 friends…..Why did ANET deleted something that was fun for most players? I remember 8vs8 was full all the time and 5vs5 were quite empty because guess what? It was not fun and 7vs8 is way better than 4vs5.

Think about it ANET.

Thieves and warriors pushed all the other zerker specs out of the meta, that’s why we have condi specs on any class that isn’t a thief or warrior.

Ele need to build celestial or valkyrie to not be 2-shot by a D/P thief let alone demolished by any warrior build.

The reason is that both thief and warriors have multiple escapes and counters to damage to control a fight while having the highest, easiest to deliver burst potential of the bunch.

Ranger is just a gimmick till the morons realize you sit any thief or warrior or necromancer on a longbow ranger and they just fold. Necromancer berserker is a free kill for most thieves and warriors.

Mesmer is on the verge of being as strong as warrior and thief, but both of those classes keep it down from breaking out as a meta berk spec.

You still will never see successful tourney berk rangers, necromancers, or engineers anytime soon, and scepter eles are running water and arcana by obligation and require specifically tailored teams so they don’t fold to pressure.

Warrior and thief are the easiest, most consistent berk specs to get results with because there’s so many ways to get out of making a mistake. And not only do they have great burst, but their sustained damage via autoattacks completely outrank the other classes (which is why warriors and thieves are the preferred DPS classes for PvE).

if this game had different game modes that punished bunkering we would see more zerkers

thief is only class that pretty much exclusively runs zerker because they just can’t run anything else (outside of HJ ofc)

Oh, its onesixty the biggest solo q rager I’ve ever seen. Sorry to tell you, but thieves aren’t very strong right now. You were on my team getting 1v1’d constantly by them yesterday though, so this post is aumsing

LOL, “hater” such a juvenile word. and yes I do hate ragers in video games, especially when they don’t perform and they’re on my team.

Back on topic zerk in general should be buffed. Revert crit damage changes. Vs a shatter its whoever gets a jump on the other guy first, d/p thieves have slight advantage because they can stealth from far away. Mesmer can fight any non-zerker class more safely than a thief can

Is the thief the only class that can burst down a squishy target? I think you’ve guessed it: the answer for the above questions is ‘no’. If the thief class had any viable tank spec, you’d see them running cele/soldier as well. Other bunker specs do not only exist because of thief. Thats a flat out lie. Tanky specs exist to counter burst and condispam regardless of source. So saying that its all thieves’ fault is just BS. Consume plasma is OP no question about it, but you’ve gone a little too far because of it. Get some lotion for your aching backside dude!

Consume Plasma definitely needs the nerf. And besides that i don’t want them to nerf the thief class. You’re missing the point…. I just want all the other zerker spec to at least have a chance in the meta. Because it will always be tanky dps and bunker specs. I’m not asking them to nerf the thief, all I’m saying is give the other zerker specs a chance too.

Oh, then we agree totally. (Looking at my poor medi guard.) It was unfortunate to phrase this problem the way you did though. Makes you look as if you want to trash thieves. The problem is with other zerker specs, and that there is only godkitten node-fighting in competitive pvp. There are many problems, not only thieves. Other classes at least have an altrnative to turn to if their zerker specs are not viable. Thieves have none.

Did you even read the post? It’s about the thief hard countering every zerker spec in the game…… Except medi guard

so do you want thief to not counter anything but everything to counter thief?
Since every bunker counter thief, Heavy conditions specs counter thief, now let’s add every zerker specs to that list and delete the thief from the game.
So many games played and still clueless about the thief class.

Thief might not be as strong as last year
but they’re a lot stronger
than they will be next year!

As a shatter Mesmer I like the relationship between mes and thief atm. Yes, the thief is still a natural counter to mes, of which I am ok with. The difference since the patch is now if I pick up on a thieves mistake, I can actually punish him for it.

yh, atm zerkers are mostly balanced (cept mediguard which instagibs you and heals up like nothing happened)

Well if we are just comparing zerker specs yes med guard is so strong. Though in the current meta they are fine from what I have seen so far.

Is Vee Wee the only one who doesn’t think very much of D/D Eles! They don’t do very much damage even with many stacks of might! Vee Wee thinks their only job is to be annoying pseudo bunkers and stack 25 might for anyone nearby! And their moves are really telegraphed and they’re the only class to have their moves telegraphed by sound! If you hear FEAR THE FIRES OF BULBASAUR, make sure to dodge the Burning Speed that’s going to come! Oh do you have a lot of burning! Well you can be sure Fire Grab is going to come next! Is a huge ball of lightning hurdling towards you! Easy dodge! Every time Vee Wee sees a D/D Elementalist it’s always, “Wahoo! They’re not S/F because those guys are the real scary ones!”

Thieves only hardcounter Mesmers. Thieves are, in fact, countered by Medguards and Rangers atm.

I don’t really think that thieves do not let other classes go Berserker. If I had to blame someone, I’d blame tanky DPS builds like Soldier Hambow and Celestial users.

i am actually surprised you complain about thieves now considering how they got nerfed (again), barely viable and are plagued by massive bugs

thieves run zerker because it is all they can run, they can’t just go hybrid bunker with celestial/might stacking like eles/engis/wars or stack passive (sup nightmare runes necro)…. surely there is p/d but it is worthless and still dies fast

people don’t run zerker because of thieves, they run bunkerish builds because of game mode….
thieves hardcounter other zerker builds as much as other zerker builds hardcounter them, it is literary all about who catches whom off guard

if this game had other game modes that didn’t promote sit on point and stare at enemy for the rest of the game, maybe people would play zerker builds

The only zerker build that hard counters thief is medi guard, that’s it! And a thief can always get the opening due to stealth.

I think tournament maps should always be different. This is one of the most positive aspects in this content for me.

See, why do you think you are good on skyhammer and not on the other maps? Is it because on that map you get an advantage others dont perhaps? Think about it

Water combat is more fun AND more balanced than skyhammer combat. Having bunkers that one shot people (without a downed state) is possible on skyhammer. Underwater combat not so much….

Did I mention that you can choose whether or not you play capricorn? Just play another hotjoin…
