My friends and I joke about the reward being only some blues, greens and pile of Bloodstone Dust because realistically, it’s about right. What I didnt expect was no Badges of Honor, no Blueprints and only 1 WXP potion? Tome of Knowledge is so useless for WvW rewards, those should be given as PvE rewards. Should have given us some laurels, badges and more WXP potions to help us rank up more to gain more skill points to better help our server.
Yeah, the chest was really really disappointing.
I probably won’t bother with it season 2.
They can’t give top rewards, all it would do is encourage server stacking. I havn’t checked, are we able to open this chest yet?
I would fully expect either all the rewards to be basically the same for people or perhaps a very slight increase to those who finished in higher spots.
Imagine this, suppose Anet decided to give an ascended to the winner, how exactly does it make the rest of the servers/players feel who have absolutely no chance in winning?
give weapon for everyone special skin for winners
So stop it please. If you are just here for reward, don’t farm it next time and everyone will be happy. If you enjoy WvW, then just enjoy the free extra candies.
Come on, are you serious ???
Arena can also remove rewards in pve with this argument … Because if you enjoy pve no need extra candies also …
ArenaNet,
I am sure that over the course of the next week that you will see countless threads popping up complaining about the rewards found in the WvW Season One reward chest. I don’t want to waste your time, but to be blunt something needs to be done. The rewards are… not only underwhelming, but for the health of WvW moving forward I feel that the current reward is inexcusable. Rewards in for events in GW2 (and any game) serve a few key functions:
1. Motivate players to partake in an event.
2. Provide adequate time/reward compensation to players who participate.
3. Grant players a feeling of accomplishment.
The current WvW Season One rewards do none of the above as the same reward for a 7 week undertaking is equal to about 30-40 minutes farming Frostgorge Sound. The implications may be greater than you previously anticipated. The full impact of the lackluster Season One reward should not be underestimated. Many servers in Bronze/Silver league worked diligently to recruit and motivate players who had never participated in the WvW game mode. Given the insignificant current reward getting people to try (and continue to play WvW) will only become harder. If no action is taken, when WvW Season 2 rolls around fewer players will be motivated to participate because the reward is not worth the investment of their time. Furthermore, as I’m sure you can see, the vast majority of the Season One participants feel that the reward was inadequate compared to their time investment. Finally, I think that it is safe to say that the current rewards provide absolutely no sense of accomplishment for anyone.
So, here is my clear and concise recommendation:
Amend the WvW Season One reward chest by providing the following-
1. Provide a unique, worthwhile reward for every player on every server who earned the reward key. Here are some suggestions:
a. An ascended quality back piece with a unique skin that is only awarded at the end of a season. (Think Karka Shell or Fractal Capacitor)
b. Utilize the release of the upcoming ascended armor release and reward players with a single set of ascended armor.
c. A single unique weapon skin (allow each player select one weapon from a set) that is only awarded in the WvW Season chests.
2. Remove the 250 count from the Gold/Silver/Bronze Dolyak finishers and make them permanent until the beginning of Season 2. The top 3 servers in each league should be given the gold for first, silver for second, and bronze for third. Essentially you would be giving 9 servers finishers rather than only 3. Clearly this would provide less insensitive for players to rush to a handful of servers and more intensive for players to participate spread throughout the range of servers so that nobody has to deal with a 4-5 hour queue.
Many are suggesting that we as a community simply accept the current reward and move on. However I would encourage you to consider the long term implications of inadequate rewards on the GW2 playerbase between now and the end of Season 2. ArenaNet has these forums so that the players have a clear channel of communication to the developers. Luckily, ArenaNet does listen and is taking strides at showing that with the Collaborative Discussion as well as removing the Flamekissed Light Armor Skin being removed/reworked. Make your voice heard.

It’s because you only ever see one at a time.
This has been the best matchup and most fun in several weeks. Beating up on servers that can’t field as many gets boring, so I’m glad that Yaks and their little brother showed up in force this week.
Those on SBI complaining about the 2v1 really need to get over it. This is how its supposed to happen when you have 3 competing forces. Be flattered, and chalk it up to lessens learned. And finally enjoy someone to fight and all the bags.

Renewing Stamina is staying in Adept. Elemental Atunement is being moved up to Master. Blasting Staff is being moved down to Adept.
- If you were already going 30 into Arcana for Evasive Arcana, your build will not change.
- If you were already going 10 into Arcana for Renewing Stamina (eg. a lot of PvE builds), your build will not changed.
- If you were already going 20 into Arcana for Elemental Atunement and Renewing Stamina, your build will not change.

- If you were only going 10 into Arcana for Elemental Atunement, you’re kittened.
Seeing someone with a fractal weapon, researching and finding out just how much work was involved made this on par with uniqueness of legendaries.
Errr, what? Beating a level 20 fractal once is on par with a legendary? lol
Seeing someone with a fractal weapon, researching and finding out just how much work was involved made this on par with uniqueness of legendaries.
Allow me to elaborate,
You could pull out your credit card and buy a legendary, you could buy your precursor and build your legendary in time.
But there was NO guarantee you’d ever dual wield Fractal swords.
And i know people with bank tabs full of fractal weapons. How many people do you know with bank tabs full of legendaries?
Cinematics Lead
Thanks for the nice comments guys.
Here are some “behind the scenes” facts about this cinematic:
The cinematic was built as a prototype for the new video playback technology.
It was made over a year ago, and we planned to launch it with the original Fractal release. Unfortunately, the tech didn’t get implemented in time and we missed the release window. It was decided that we sit on the cinematic trailer until there was a big update to the Fractals.
The 3D character models are (pre)rendered in-engine with our model viewer and matched up with cameras in Maya and After Effects.
While I have special place in my heart for the original GW2 in-engine cinematics (such as the Dugneon Catacombs flashback…a cinematic that I reworked 4 times over the course of development) These new types of pre-rendered videos allow us to work faster, increase the quality, and they perform better on more peoples machines.
There are some pretty exciting cinematics coming in the future…I hope you guys will receive them as well as the Fractals piece.
Thanks again!

To be fair, if all you do is read the patch preview, it’s not really very clear what’s going to happen. I had to read some forum posts before I got it.
Every time anything new has been released, I have always seen far more teams who don’t give a hoot what profession you are than ones what specify.
No classes will be “omitted”. The majority of teams won’t care. You always have those few who scream in all caps that they only want ZERKER WARS and everybody must be GEARCHECKED, but they really aren’t the majority. Not even close. PvE in this game is far, far more open than most.
Oh hey, it’s this thread again
When you going to wvw, what you see on loading screen? That’s right my friend.
Em what? Staff is awesome on WvW. Great AoE, and u can keep up combo fields almost all the time.
Please reread my post
i’m afraid he the poster does have a point there.
it’s not about tagging mobs for loot, it’s about elly skills taking so long to trigger.
i play support staff elly and i play WvW only for the last 2-3 months. i can tag champions/lords most of the time with no issues. however i do have “issues” with reliability of some elly skills.
first, auto attacks are kitten slow, animations + projectile speed seem to take forever (a bit less seen in air atunement, or maybe i’m just imagining things).
second, fire/water/earth nr 2 skill… on my necro i’m AoE mass destruction with all marks and wells, but elly damage aoe are too unreliable when enemy can almost stroll out of range without any difficulties.
i don’t even think we need more dmg, but at least a possibility to be more precise.
for instance, lava font should at least have wider range for it’s slow activation time. water no 2 basically became just a filler. if water2 would be blast finisher, then at least it would have some sense.
air 3 and earth 5 miss a moving ambient creature kitten …
at the same time for example all AoE’s of my necro are instant and have more effects, etc… i do love to play my elly though, but i’d love to see some loving regarding “responsivness” and/or speed of our attacks.

We need more faster skills like insta ticking Lava Font
Why is it that when changing something in the Elementalist you always accompany it with huge nerfs to avoid “power creep” and when buffing other classes it’s just a flat out buff with no strings attached?
Nerfs for the meta stun-lock warriors.
Nerfs for the meta burst necromancers.
Nerfs for the meta s/d evade-spam thieves.
Nerfs for the meta spirit evade-spam rangers.
Pretty much the entire OP pvp meta is going to be nerfed.
Elementalists might “lose” the protection from elemental attunement or the vigor from renewing stamina (or both), but all the builds they have to fight against will get their damage nerfed, and many of them will get less vigor as well.

We can’t have Elemental Attunement and Renewing Stamina together anymore? THIS IS AWFUL.
This is a MASSIVE NERF. This is literally all we had left…
Renewing Stamina is now a master trait, while mesmer and guardian get it as a 5 point perk.
Because.. ANet…

Earth XI – Diamond Skin. This trait has been redesigned. Conditions cannot be applied to you when your health is above the threshold. 90%.
This sounds OP.
its 90% hp, just like VS its useless after a fight starts. Its only useful in PVE.
Asura Ele- Sir Im afraid youre short. Why is it always short jokes. No, youre short on the bill.
I gather that moving elemental attunement up one tier was kind of a necessity given how strong it was. But I still don’t get why they would move renewing stamina together, other than trying to force a choice between the two traits, which, given the lack of improvements elsewhere, is kick in the balls.
Overall the changes to arcana are meh, I expected them to go apekitten bananas and completely overhaul how attunement recharges work, parting with the gimmicky fresh air.

I’m guessing there’s only 2 options in your view right? Either instakill burster or undefeatable bunker?
That sums up quite well why many think the elementalist is broken in PvP. You just have to cut the “instakill” and the “undefeatable”.
Instakill burst? Undefeatable? Are we talking uplevel versus 80? Someone smart in this forum said that class viability is shown by the prominence of play. You do not have to over-think this. Less Ele hours played = less viability. Less staff played = less viability.
The WvW staff large group build that is most effective is this:
0/0/20/20/30. 20 in Earth gives you Rock Solid, which is the best 20 trait you could ever hope for in large group wvw simply because its on-demand stability for your group. Gear wise, don’t waste gear slots for clerics. I’ve tried a clerics build and the added tick healing was not worth the wet noodle dmg trade off especially since the bulk of your healing is done through your team blasting your water fields. I have a mix of valk, knight and soldiers armor with zerker and cavalier trinkets and weapons. (aim for 16k+ hp with food, 1600+ toughness, 3k attack, 30% crit and whatever you can get with crit dmg ~50%-70%) Run full cantrips and Ether Renewal.
This.
You are either rock solid or youre just another random. Stability makes ether renewal possible. It makes meteor shower over the edge of walls without getting pulled possible. It makes pushing a choke point or getting a stomp without blowing mist form possible.
