This can’t be fun for Maguuma
Oh, don’t worry. Maguuma had plenty of fun wiping you guys tonight.
A for effort, though – BG has been avoiding fighting us for months.
Says the server that just ran from BG. Must be fun to make up your own version of reality. These guys started losing again had a tantrum and took their ball and went home so they could farm lower servers, just sad.
How can this not be fun? No more BG hiding behind siege while having equal numbers, now we have YB for that. Finally able to play in smaller groups, as someone above mentioned it. Can’t think of any bad thing that happen for Mag going to t3
It’ll be fun for a day and a half, then DB will be gone and the only YB around will be in a single T3 keep bristling with arrow carts from every open spot. I’m sure you’ll enjoy walking around the rest of the week in 4 empty WvW maps.
What is your thoughts and ideas?
What you think needs to be improved?
Give your response and please keep it clean so maybe ArenaNet will see it and get some ideas for WvW.
I think its time for Anet to really try and make Tier 1 fun for other servers than just BG. The other two servers should each have a much larger alliance server. For example, SoS should have say, YB and FA should have JQ or something like that. Really swing the balance of power when you push other servers to Tier 1 because, as it stands, both FA and SoS are wearing out pretty quickly to BG. I’m sure the bags are fun for a few days for BG, but I bet it gets a bit old ALWAYS being on top by such a large margin.
while the basic thought makes some sense, doubt any of fa, sos, yb or jq want to be guest servers whose glicko isn’t tracked… that is aside from the fact that yb doesn’t want anything to do with t1 anyway….
I’d rather blow-up the servers altogether (as long my guild lands on the same server) with no servers exceeding the pop cap…
1st t1 skirmish: sos 1st place.
And then……

Honestly there is a lot missing here in terms of info. What time did you take this, what day, what is the coverage for your server on that time?
However, Anet made the decision to listen to you and made this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Glicko-Temporary-Manual-Adjustments/first#post6529467But there will be salt on both sides about the changes. I for one am really not having the T1 crap. Anet needs to come onto these forums and read suggestions and start thinking about ways to fix the imbalance and linking crap that has caused so much volatility in WvW to allow for “Manual Glicko Adjustments” when they did not need to do that for the first 3 years of GW2’s life.
I am not looking forward to FA being in T1 or close T1. All the blobs can stay in T1 and I will enjoy my small group fights in T2. Because it’s not a blob-fest against SoS and JQ.
Wtf why is Fa and sos who have been losing to jq in t2 for weeks, get a boost and JQ doesn’t? lol jfc.
The only balance that needs to be done is BG needs to stop kittening hibernating and destack, like every single other server already has.

My pugs are not lemmings, they just fell off that cliff because I did
There is a huge discrepancy in coverage right now (whether that be due to servers intentionally tanking or guilds leaving, I don’t know). Not sure how ANET is going to solve that. Was on last night at the height of NA prime time and the fights were fairly even throughout with all 3 servers fielding large groups (on EBG anyway).
It’s just that when everyone else goes to sleep, BG is still partying on. :-)
Thief is designed to be a solo roaming class – if you go one on one with a good thief in WvW you should expect to die. Especially if you’re a squishy build that can’t cope with 10k damage.
You are partially correct. Thief is designed around solo roaming but it is just a mediocre dueling class. Its primary fighting style is catching weak or injured players and cutting off zerglings. Its primary advantage is to escape or reset.
Problem is most non-thieves get mad when two thieves blow them up in a couple seconds, hit them when they are running to a zerg or just get frustrated when one won’t stay still long enough for their slow big damage build to beat it. I sympathize with those that gripe about limited counter play (or none at all against a Ghost). The others are just salty.

Thief is designed to be a solo roaming class – if you go one on one with a good thief in WvW you should expect to die. Especially if you’re a squishy build that can’t cope with 10k damage.
I don’t see this being a problem at all – thieves die first in proper group battles, and if you nerf their one-on-one power they’ll become utterly useless as a class.
Ive actually been using a special build very recently and I see 11k backstabs and 15k heartseekers if certain conditions are met (ie i have 90% or more HP).
If something has 3k+ armor, thats a bit trickier to kill quickly as by the time I get them to 25% HP, they know how to dodge me and engage…not always successful but they do.
It’s really not hard to make a build like the one your talking about. Most players in WvW are PvE zerker builds, they are literally walking around in Paper Mache armor.
It’s literally like hitting a naked target and they come onto the forums crying all the time thief is OP.
If they say I am getting killed that fast with 3k+ armor, then your doing something wrong…
Anyone that gets hit by basilisk and has no stun breaks, deserves to die. I have no idea how you’re pulling 10k backstabs off too, some funky signet build? Might stacking? Full bloodlust stacks?
I can be hit for basilisk and by the time my finger has moved to the button to break stun the thief has unloaded 8 skills on me and disappeared back in to stealth… and 10k backstabs aren’t hard to achieve, even against 3k armor targets.
Might stacking and full bloodlust stacks are easy to get (5 kills and you have your bloodlust…this isn’t pve).
spvp is much more tactic aware than wvw. In spvp there are 3 big components : player mechanic, player rotation on the map and team coordinations . In wvw, if you roam you have only player mechanic : i win if i am better of my opponent or if i am a counter ( in rare cases when fights are balanced in number ) , if you go behind a zerg … the only thing that makes the difference is numbers …. the biggest one usually wins …
This isn’t true and hasn’t been true in a long time. Zergs where the majority are in team speak and co-coordinating pushes, heals, condi bombs, resistance & stability buffs, boon corrupts, etc… will virtually always win against even much larger but more disorganized groups (aka giant blob following a pug commander).

I’ve always wondered… Is it specifically the extreme competitiveness of the tournament that made WvW loose population PERMANENTLY because they’re ‘burnt out’? I mean, I understand people wanting to take a break after pulling extra hours during seasons, but is that really the main reason people PERMANENTLY quits the gamemode? Does that mean we’ll never ever see another tournament because more people will just simply burnout??? Can someone please enlighten me?
Are we just going to ignore the content drought? I’m not going to pretend we didn’t get anything new – because we did and everyone will have their own opinions on how they liked the new changes. I’m specifically talking about a supported competitive ‘tournament’ or something that actually makes people care? At this point, I’m wondering if the new grand strategy to retain population is to not have anything exciting so no one gets burnt out.
The lack of proper balancing around changing of meta (unlike PvP between seasons)?
The powercreep that came with the expansion stats and specialisation skills?
It’s fantastic we got a new map. But let’s face it, whether you like it or not, whether you think their opinions are logical or illogical, DBL isn’t as popular as abl – especially in its early days. It is also extremely polarising in opinions. There are a lot people who just refuses to play on that bl.
The lack of new rewards (i.e. doesn’t have to be extremely expensive like ascended gear. A backpiece skin once in a while would normally be enough for people to chew on) – i.e. PvP?
And the dead silence…
I have a dream – Our Anet Senpai will make WvW Great Again!
WvW Forum is more competitive than WvW

The reward tracks made WvW a lot more rewarding and I would say that we get enough reward for playing atm. But it stings a bit that I get most of my rewards from the reward tracks. This is good for scouts, because they don’t miss out on a lot of rewards as long as their activity is up, but it is a bit sad for active players. So I would like to propose two ideas on how to improve balancing of rewards in WvW. I would be fine with it, if reward tracks had to be slightly slower/less rewarding to compensate for the new loot.
Loot for killing:
- heavy loot bags lost a chunk of their value because their content isn’t adapted to HoT. Beating a WvW player can be a lot harder than beating a pve champion though. So I would propose to make “rare loot bags”. This new bag type has a chance to drop from non-free-to-play-players in WvW. The bags have a higher chance to drop from enemies with higher WvW rank, if they have been alive for long, if you fought them for longer, from HoT classes and if you contributed more to their death (through damage, condi damage or healing/booning people that did the fatal damage). With this system you should be more likely to drop the new bags if you 1:1 someone with 100% of the damage in a long fight, than if you run over someone with a zerg and only did 5% of the damage on a guy that died.
Loot tables of the new bags could include superior siege, LS3 content like the new salvaging items that drop leather, ore or cloth, HoT materials like a chance to drop evergreen slivers, flax fibers, orbs and very rarely maguuma lilys, amalgamated gemstones, mother-of-pearl etc. It would be nice if it would include the items needed for wvw-upgrades for scribes or stuff you need to craft ascended armor/weapons.
Loot from rankups:
- Make rankup-chests more valuable if you have a higher rank. Atm it is a bad thing to have a higher rank in WvW as your opponents will focus you, there is no upside to this. Furthermore a rankup in wvw is worth maybe 30 silver in total, imho a underwhelming reward for the time it takes, especially when compared to reward tracks.
I would like to see more rewarding rankup chests for high-level WvW players. This could be done by just increasing the chance for rare/exotic/ascended rewards on rankup depending on your rank. Additionally they could add a loot bag to the rankup that differs depending on your rank and has a chance to drop ascended materials at higher levels.
It could also be done with making achievement chests for reaching specific steps in WvW rank (for example additional reward track boosters and potions; siege and ascended materials every 100 ranks or every new title and increase rewards depending on rank; for example a free commander tag at rank 1000, etc) but I think it is too late for that and implementing it right now would lead to some players getting 30+ achievement chests right away.
Ascended
Before the implementation of the marks needed to get ascended armor in pvp and fractals I would also have liked a way to get ascended armor/weapons in WvW. Now we need crafting anyway and it is not a lot cheaper to get it through other sources anymore, so it doesn’t matter much anymore to me.
What do you think about the rewards in WvW? And what rewards would you like to see changed and how?
Apply the WvW rule. It would be chaotic fun.
I’m planning to move from T1 which tier do you recommend?
Be prepared to spend gems every 2 months. Today’s healthy server could be the next relinking nightmare.
TC rolled T1 on a 5% chance.. proves no one is safe from that kind of rng.
I’d be careful right now because Mag is going to roll down to tier 2 soon, and someone is going to roll up from tier 2 into tier 1 (probably JQ). But some time after that, TC is going to roll down straight to tier 3 or 4 and another server, either FA or SoS probably, is going to switch with them into tier 1. So yea, tiers 2-4 are pretty good right now, but a lot of things are going to change over the next 1-4 weeks.

So what do people really want ANET to do?
First: “Blah Blah Blah that is why I quit this game “X” months or years ago”. I ask then why troll the forums if you are no longer playing? What value do you have to add if you are not actually in game? I overlook these posts the minute I see them.
Second: There is PvE, PvP, WvW, Raid, Dungeon, Fractals and living season content. Not sure how many developers there are or their specialty but balancing is always a continual battle in every MMO I have ever played. Not all of the masses will ever be satisfied. EVER!
Third: From a business continuity standpoint it almost like people think ANET is trying to purposely fail the game. Oh how I lol at this. Just because YOU or I think something is OP or incorrectly balanced does not mean the next person sees it this way. Yes I have raised concerns in the forums on many topics and ANET ultimately relies on the community to further develop some aspects of the game.
Fourth: How about some constructive feedback (which I applaud the many who do) instead of destructive incoherent-ness that does not help further your cause and want me so badly to mail you salt packets in-game which I would never do but so badly have wanted too :P
Fifth: I have interacted with CS on some account issues that were taken care in a timely manner and shocked at even recovering a destroyed ascended weapon. Exchanged a wrongly purchased accessory and a couple of other small issues. I have reported bugs that I would like to think my report got it fixed
In reality folks I have issues with some aspects of the game and have raised my concerns in as civilized as a manner I could.
With the exception of Raids I play every aspect of the game. Due to time constraints I do not raid. I do not care to have a legendary shiny. I do not care for fractals though I did for a while. I found new life away from PvE in PvP and WvW. I ignore saltiness in chat instead of inflaming it.
If you interact with people in an elitist tone I believe that gets you nowhere but ignored or in the least a quick look and close post. Last time I checked this is a game. It is virtual with the exception of the people behind the keyboard. Your life nor mine does not depend on it. If it is that bad it is time for a break. I work in an IT Just In Time delivery system to an automotive manufacturer…that is stress!. So I use GW2 as a stress relief while so many stress out for something not really real.
I would say I have invested about $300 to $400 in this game with GW2 Vanilla and Hot plus Gems. Not too bad for almost 5 years, so for me 56 months divided by 12 comes out to $4.60 a month or less. FAR less than I piad other MMos with monthly fees.
So I ask again what do you want ANET to do? Be your personal servant? Give you shiny things for free? Let’s be more civil and I bet you get better results though sometimes the results may not benefit your cause but the greater good of the game. The saltiness is killing my kidneys :P
Consumed Hate – Thief
Unlucky Scrub – Ranger
WvW had 3 seasons and people enjoyed all three seasons. Every server came out in full force, commanders came out in full force pulled of massive hours so their server can win.
There have been 6 pvp season. First 3 were meh, 4 was OK and 5 was probably the most fun one and most played season SOLELY BECAUSE OF REWARDS BEING OP. Season 6, rewards got nerfed and you can already see how many players truely cared for sPvP scene. Literally most people just do sPvP for rewards and nothing else.
PvP has a legendary back piece, each map has its on achievement points and a lot more other ways to get achievement points, ascended vendor and seasons during which players can make a lot of gold, get a lot of transmutation charges (I literally managed to get 300 transmutation charges in season 5 and it takes me like a week to get 1 or 2 charges in Wvw through participation system) and during seasons players get access to the currency required to buy Ascended gear and also how can I forget reward tracks which get completed faster than WvW.
WvW does not have legendary back piece, There arent many WvW specific achievement points, no ascended vendor and seasons WvW used to have dont happen anymore because Arena Net used an excuse of players getting burnt out and perma population drop in WvW (I personally think it would be commanders who got burnt out pulling massive hours not the players, players probably only showed up during season to get achievement points from that season). How can I forget the copy pasta reward tracks in WvW straight outta PvP which takes longer time than PvP to get completed.
Rewards got nerf in PvP season 6 and there was an insta drop in the population. This already shows that no one really cares about sPvP people just go their for rewards or do sPvP when they are bored.
Rewards in WvW have always been bad and no season yet WvW population is still bigger than sPvP. Actually it was even bigger pre-hot. Arena net was literally feeding 100 players when they started pushing sPvP esport scene. To support those 100 players Arena Net lost masive amount of players from WvW. I dont think thats a fair trade off, in fact I guranteee that no one thinks thats a fair trade off. Arena net is still pushing for Esport sPvP scene and not doing anything constructive with WvW yet WvW has more players playing more guilds doing GvGs. EU is still has GvG tournaments and GVG SCENE IS DEAD COMPARED TO WHAT IT USED TO BE.
Arena net its time to realize that GW2 isn’t meant for sPvP. Focus more on WvW please. Balance classes, balance siege, give us a legendary backpiece, more WvW specific achievement point, introduce ways to get more rewards maybe even liquid gold so commanders can buy siege (I know you can buy superior siege from portable provisionary with heroic points but lets be real the drop rate is low and it takes time to level up ranks in WvW and especially for commanders / players who can only put in 2-3 hours in WvW). Bring back seasons, seasons dont have to be 2-3 months long. They just need to be a month long or coordinate with sPvP when sPvP season ends then the WvW season starts also dont base the season around PPT of course commanders and some players will burn themselves out, base them around PPK and mame players want to fight not hide in towers.
Also if Arena Net is leaving everything on next expansion when it comes to WvW, I think it would be too late not like its already late but WvW will bleed a lot more players to other games and it already has. So please give us info on what the plan is for WvW (if there is any) or give us few decent updates. WvW specific class balance would be an amazing step to start this spring off amazing and show us players there is still hope for WvW. WvW can be better and greater than what it is or what it used to be just show us WvW players who are looking for other games with similar made like WvW that there is still hope.
Btw my east coast lads, resets are back at 10pm est. RIP team. I swear to god this is the first thing that needs to change. Reset needs to be an hour early. Arena net made an excuse that it’s hour late because they will release updates on fridays and which might interfere with reset being hour early… lol team I have yet to see update on friday nights.
When we discuss WvW, it’s always go left or go right, but what if we had different WvW game modes?
The current maps all follow the same structure for scoring, capturing, etc. New game modes would change the core of WvW, using classic or new maps, in shorter or longer matches. Some examples:
Demolition
In this mode, your goal is to destroy enemy buildings.
Damaged walls and doors don’t get repaired once the building changes owner. Building siege and repairing is now free, but takes considerably longer.
The score is determined by the value of each captured building, with towers having a higher value than camps and such. Sentries give points too.
The first team to capture 2/3 of the map’s total capture value wins. If the timer runs out, the team with the highest score at the moment wins.
Annihilation
Your main goal is to kill enemy players.
Dead players can’t resurrect normally. Respawns are in waves of 5 minutes, and with each respawn, killed players get a small stat boost.
The score is determined by the faction with less casualties. The team who reaches 1/6 of total casualties wins. The key is to kill and not get killed. If the timer runs out, the team with less casualties wins.
King of the Hill
There’s a building or position in the middle of the map (Stonemist Castle could work). Each team scores points by holding it out. Your goal is to capture it and hold it as long as possible.
The first team to hold it for 20 minutes wins. If the timer runs out, the team with the most points wins.
Overwhelmed
One team begins with the entire map captured. The other two teams are friendly with each other, effectively making the match a 2v1 situation.
The overwhelmed team has 10 minutes before the enemy can attack. Their goal of the is to be holding at least one building when the timer runs out.
An alternative version of this game mode could see the overwhelmed team rotate each 30 minutes.
Horde
All siege weapons are removed, and players can now destroy doors and walls with their normal attacks.
Body blocking could be enabled as well by default. Alternatively, players could be allowed to build barricades to form choke points.
Artillery
Normal combat damage is slightly reduced, making fights take longer, and siege weapons, now free and easy to deploy, are the main way to deal damage to enemies. Siege range is greatly increased as well.
Paratrooper
Gliding would be enabled, and players would be able to build platforms to throw themselves into the air.
The ballista attacks would get a new effect where they disable gliding for a short amount of time. Hitting gliding enemies would make them fall to their deaths, effectively making the ballista an anti-air weapon.
Bad Weather
Heavy rain, heavy sandstorm, mist, etc. Weather effects that affect visibility.
Could include random damage effects as well.
Infestation
Wild enemies appear often across the map, and sometimes even inside the captured buildings. Clean them out or risk them weakening your territory, and even killing your lords and turning the buildings back to neutral.
Alternatively, this effect could only spawn every few minutes, across the entire map, forcing players to stop fighting each other to defend their buildings, or use this opportunity to attack their enemies while risking losing their own territory to the monsters.
Just some ideas. Obviously, they’re pretty basic, but you get where I’m going. Some of them can be combined with each other, too.
These game modes could rotate weekly, daily, or hourly. They could be applied exclusively to Edge of the Mists, as to not disturb classic WvW gameplay.

Proposal:
1)Require one of the following to contest:
damage over a certain threshold to a gate/door in a single hit ( aka, this thing has been hit by siege, and is actually under credible attack)
2)a gate/wall is broken/destroyed
3)any damage to the lord ( or inner guards?).
Possibly only counting inner gates/walls for SMC/keeps on scenario 1/2.
I do appreciate this means they could PvDoor and not contest ( thus not be noticed).. But honestly that doesn’t seem like a terrible compromise considering how long PvDoor alone would take.
The first option could be redesigned to “gate/wall takes x% damage over y seconds” but I suspect the calculations and constant polling of hp would add substantial workload to the servers – and WvW lags enough as it is.

tork moved to borlis pass (linked with sbi right now)
The guild groups are great there, (tier 4 atm) but the pugs just dont use TS and die a ton.
Honestly i wouldnt goto t2 man… your going to run into the same thing as t1…
1 your going to be stuck there with the new scoring system.. Even with all the wvw guilds gone from TC (where we came from) they are still losing massively and are still gaining glicko because of the tier they are in. It also costs 1800 gems to goto a top tier server… any of them… because of the population.
2. all servers will be about the same as far as guilds go, except for stacked servers like mag or BG and SoS. Go where you can get people, fights and have good commanders that you actually like.
3 tier means nothing now, especially since Anet announced that they are never doing another WvW season.
My point is basically.. if your wvw community is dead (like tc was) go somewhere you can have fun.
Try a really low server (like we did with borlis pass to check out the action on SBI) first.. since it only costs about 120g to make the move to a low server and about 450g to move to a higher one.
Check out some of the wvw dedicated stat servers like MOS and see who is linked with the different tiers and do your homework. Example: Borlis pass has been linked with SBI for about 6 months now.. so next relinking, we have a pretty strong chance of getting the exact same linking with SBI.
Then, if you like what you see.. make the move to the main server you are linked with if you want.
The current linking will last at least another 3 weeks.. so you have plenty of time to get the 1800 gems you need to make the final decision.

Yak’s Bend is among the highest worlds in terms of play hours and ranks gained, which is the primary metric we use to determine which worlds we lock each week.
EotM does not count towards those metrics.
Nomads is a weak choice, go sentinel. 3k armor, 20k health, 2.2k power and 200%+ crit damage with guaranteed crits. My glass thief does around 50% more damage on crits compared to the sentinel thief, but I can still hit 5-7k against most things so it’s very funny 1v1 and for plain trolling.
Don’t follow me, unless you enjoy being chased by angry men with sticks.
Power Build Condi Build
With re-linking now being a valid form of rebalancing tiers and creating some variety in matches, it is time to finally slay the Glicko dragon and make manual server tier moves each week.
Take this week with SBI getting thrown down into T4. It was bad for T4 and it is bad for T3. HoD should have moved down if any server at all yet the RNG basically kittened all of T4 to a week long blow out rather than a fairly close match like last week.
T1 is its own problem so I won’t get into that but Glicko nor the RNG is going to fix that either. Relinking and adjusting tiers manually are great tools to keep WvW competitive as populations change.
