What is known: Dire thieves are everywhere, as are anything that can stealth (DH, MES, RNGR, ENG) and with exception of a guild running, wvw is now a 40 man pvp arena with all stealth.

Why WoW failed: The creators stopped listening to players.

What is the result: Waiting for new mmo.

WoW stealth is far more balanced than GW2 stealth.

WoW stealth breaks on dot damage or any damage, and you can only use stealth to open combat.

If you get close to the target, they can see you and pop you out of stealth.

If you enter combat, only rogues can re-enter stealth on a 2 MINUTE cooldown.

Thief in GW2 can enter stealth every 8 seconds from BP>HS alone.

To top it off, WoW rogue doesn’t have a stunbreak otehr than a 2 min cd trinket that teleports him 1200 yards away and can be used twice.

The WoW rogue gap closer is on a 30+ sec cd. Thief got steal on a 20 sec cd, on top of unhindered combatant, shortbow, shadowshot, and shadowstep if they feel like burning it to gap clsoe instead of disengaging.

Don’t you even dare compare WoW pvp with GW2, WoW pvp has significantly more balanced stealth classes.

WoW PvP is in a far better place, classes don’t have one million blocks and immunities and evades bundled with several teleports on top of strong spike damage.

In WoW, defensive and offensive cooldowns are on considerable cooldowns so you actually need to use them strategically in a match instead of the spamfest that is GW2.

In one year, WoW generated more revenue than every EQ title. Add in the cross over marketing, China release and each WoW expansion and WoW generated more revenue than pretty much every MMO combined. WoW is an unparalleled success and before its run is over will likely hold the most profitable game ever.

JQ will get run the heck over when we get to T1 again. Just the way it is. We have too much for T2, and not enough for T1. Locking these servers is not going to spread the pop to T3/4; the population moving is just going to land collectively with a thump onto a server that will make it to T2 (or 1 with a crazy roll), knocking someone else down to T3/4. There aren’t enough people still playing to have everyone getting what they want. Even if you gave incentives to move…. the prospect of missing out on good fights/being away from friends/shaking up your guild/potentially getting your guild split once anet senses the moves/etc. makes it not worth it. If you don’t think this is a concern, you don’t really understand that guilds need 1) people to play against and 2) guilds to run WITH on a map. Plonk too many onto a server with these super crappy ‘lower’ population caps, and guess what happens?

One problem with draining the “full” servers is that “full” isn’t anything like it used to be. Even a “full” server will rarely have a queue outside of reset. If every server was balanced then you’d have the population spread far too thin.

Balancing the tiers would be best to allow different types of matchups. Some players like blob match-ups and some like sparse match-ups. But this would be extremely difficult to achieve. If you think JQ has too many players…when JQ plays say BG or Maguuma then JQ gets run over. Right now we have a tier 1 (Mag, BG), tier 1.5 (TC, JQ), and then lots of tier 3 and 4s.

Right now we have a serious issue with server population balance. Their are 4 full servers and if you are on a lesser population server in a match with one of these forget it. You will be lucky to win one or two skirmishes all week. Since there are only three slots per match this makes tier 2 very unpleasant. Look at this week – JQ has won all but 2 skirmishes. This morning EB was completely green for a while. SM has not flipped since reset. Total bullkitten balance.

It is this that is destroying WVW.

Locking these servers was a good first step. More steps are needed.

One of the things that I think should be done is to encourage transfers from full servers with fairly rich rewards. Like 2 gems per WVW rank to a medium population server and 4 gems to a low population server. Plus throw in some ascended armor chests. Once this offer is accepted no transfers to a higher or equal population server for several months.

Simply the full servers have to be drained.

Unblockables from Necro and Warr do toast them pretty good, espec corrupt boon and tootyhorn 4 on the Necro.

They are also still very susceptible to projectile destruction/reflection. Sword 1 may have been fixed but LB, Sword 3, focus 4 are still very dependent on projectiles.

As a DH player I will say I’ve been caught with my pants down before in the middle of teamfights by a necro, normally having a stack of condis that’ll need to be cleared, trying to F2 out of the fray to recover only to get feared or CC’d by someone mid cast. Also for the longest time I’ve always dreaded facing competent warriors.

Good condi clear? They normally have only one in a big cooldown. Decent health? Like really? They have the worst hp pool of the game. This show how knowledge you are with the class.
Cc? They have a pull on 40 sec cd. Maybe a knockback on LB if traited. An impossible to land CC on lb 5 if a player is decent. And thats it. As they normally go with Sword and shield for swap.
The only thing they really have is the good amount of PROJECTILE blocks. Because 1 block of aegis every 45 seconds is pretty poor.

I’m gonna double-check tonight to see if you’re playing DH, hard to believe an objective person would give this response.The current metabattle DH has 3 CCs, unblockable pull on spear of justice, shield 5, and unblockable LB 3, the latter of which is on a 10s CD. And yes Hunter’s Ward adds a 4th CC, but no good player is caught by that. Much more CC than most builds, since you’ll be able to use LB 3 at least 3 times in a node fight.

Meta DH also has 3 condi clears normally, F2 for 3 conditions, Smite Condition for 2 condis, and Smiter’s boon for 1 condition when a heal skill is used. Unless you’re absolutely terrible then you’ll be able to use your heal skill and smite condition twice each during a mode fight or a 1v1. Sometimes contemplation of purity is used against a condi-heavy team.

This last point is wrong. All you need to do is watch any Legendary players stream on twitch to know that it is wrong.

The rest of the stuff you’ve got should definitely be considered but that last one…. nope. Just wrong.

After watching some streams, I believe those bad teammates are just trolling and losing on purpose. No one in Gold tier and above is clueless.

Class stacking needs to be disallowed in ranked.

Any decent PvP Game disallows Class stacking. Also, it’s a team based PvP system, yet 24/7 you are fighting alone because premades are not allowed.

I suggest that only premade groups can compete with each other. That you are not able to join the ranked queue without a full 5-man premade. Like in World of Warcraft. At least you have communication going on, and since it’s full premades vs full premades no one is dumbed down.

The counter to DH stacking is playing mobility class comp (swapping before match if need be)/map rotation knowledge of team. The issue here is map rotation/map awareness tends to only be known by the “higher” skill end which also thinks DHs are mostly a joke at that level.

Ranger traps work the same way too………

DH traps do 10x the damage.

Only if your dumb enough to stand in them. I really don’t get what’s so hard about not standing in the traps.

You mean not standing on the traps the exact same size as the capping circles the game tells you to stand on or you loose the match?

There is a reason why trapper thief or trapper ranger isnt a thing in sPvP, dont be daft. Their traps is nowhere near the power of DH traps.

I’m not saying ele is terrible at everything and brings nothing to the team, and don’t pretend I’ve ever said that.

1. Ele was designed for celestial stats, so literally any other amulet is inadequate in comparison. Elementalist specs are split in two, air/fire/arcane for damage, and earth/water for susttain. When you trait for damage, you’ll pick air (because fresh air is the only considerable damage dealer) and/or arcane with tempest. That means you have no cleanses at all, no heals, no sustain. If you go bunk, you’ll choose earth/water/tempest. You do no damage, no condi damage, and you have very few CC’s (unless you’re running aura share shocking aura). If you choose mixed specs like air/water(too reliant on a lack of pressure to cleanse) or air/earth (no cleanses since you can’t sustain enough to make DS activate) you’ll die. Water/arcane or earth/arcane and you’re utterly useless. In the days of celestial amulet, mixing up was the best possible thing and you could successfully do damage and sustain at the same time while cleansing. Now, that’s impossible.

2. Glass or gtfo. Meaning, if you run menders and you don’t intend to play bunk, you are useless. If you run marauder/zerk/demolishers, you’re dead after 1 second of focus on you, and you can’t win 1v1s against dragonhunters, scrappers, condi mesmers, revenants, warriors, druids, or good thieves. So 7/9 classes.

3. There are no viable damage builds, condi or burst. For the reasons listed above, there isn’t a single meta or sub meta (i.e. condi mes is meta, shatter mes is sub meta meaning good but not the best option) damage build for ele at all.

4. Tempest mechanics are meant for the pve world, not the pvp world. Just look at the overloads, you are vulnerable for 4 seconds to burst, cc, condi applications, kiting, you name it. There are just not enough defenses on you to make that a viable or safe route to go on.

If you don’t play ele, your opinion lacks empiricism and is immediately taken less seriously.

But really. Kill them off just because they disagree with you? Seems like a foolish thing to do. If story killed of everyone who disagreed with the protagonist they would all be the same.

The sidekicks/henchmen can disagree with each other, fine. That’s interesting and amusing. But the moment they disobey, insult, or disrespect the player, they need to go. If they express disagreement, fine, but if they do what Braham and Marjory did (defy orders from the player that has killed two giant dragons in a row), they need to experience retribution.

Then you have no idea about story telling do you.

So funny seeing all the salty people posting here that have no clue.

The fact is, BG has an active NA population. No OCX guilds.

No? What were the 2 huge BG blobs running around in ocx time yesterday then? And you do have ocx guilds, FL for one.

I just love BG folks implying they’re undermanned while steamrolling the other servers in the game outnumbering the other servers 3-4:1.

We recently lost a popular SEA commander et. al. to an EU server. Frankly, I just don’t play at that time. And one EU guild. The only reason we win so much is because we just have more roamers and a couple small 5 man groups that run during off hours to keep things capped. Half of our EU timezone is populated by NA folks not working and most of our OCX is NA insomniacs.

I’d say, we have half of the population we used to have, but were still considered full. So yeah, it’s no surprise that we’re opening up.

1: You gained 2 sea guilds from JQ, their only 2 active sea guilds left.
2. You may have half what you used to have but other servers have declined even more and you have the advantage of still being able to attract bandwaggoners to go there which other servers don’t.
3. You are not winning because of roamers, you are winning because you outnumber the other servers plain and simple.

If I came on here, and started posting about wanting a specific server to die off, blaming them for everything, and needing to be locked forever…well I can imagine the responses I might get. But you know its fashionable to hate on BG, as if we forced anyone to transfer here.

Maybe those people should try focusing on building up their own servers rather then hoping for one to be destroyed. BG’s main selling point is that we have a stable server and a great friendly community.

If you come on here and start threatening boycotts and other stupid crap, stop playing wvw, never bother to help your servers get competitive, then complain about population issues…What good are you?

once we get beyond we have less than we used to have… The WVW population is a fraction of what it used to be 4 years in… when people say BG is over stacked, they aren’t comparing to 2014 BG pop they are comparing to the current pop of the other servers..

Honestly run strength and youll get better dps in any real situation. You take 1 hit in zerker and scholar is worthless. I know some metaboi will qq about this but that’s the way it is.

I just achieved one of the grindiest achievements in WvW. After roughly 100 hours of pure Dolyak escorting from the camp to the Keep, I’ve hit the magical 2,500 tonite. There were times when I would pass out at my keyboard from boredom, but I soldiered on to get to my goal. It kinda feels like I beat the game! Now I can rejoin the TC zerg and do some fighting.

We could talk about removing cannons, when Anet finally makes walls good. It’s easier for the attacker to clear the walls as for a defender to hold them. That’s a bad concept for a siege environment.
The new cannons aren’t a bad thing. They are of limited use because of the line of sight, but they are good for specific situations.

They’re good for a lot of things. They do more damage to siege than superior ballista, they have a blast zone so they can hit siege behind cover whereas ballista cannot, they do more damage to players than superior ACs, and they can remove boons with their normal shots. This single siege completely negates the usefulness of AC and ballista on its own. It’s also cheaper to make at 50 supply than the superior versions of other siege. They’re completely broken in their current form. If they were to be kept, they need to do like 10% less damage than AC and ballista to everything.

Cannons are complete exposed though. Ac and balli can be placed in nooks and crannies where they are clearly covered by a slab of wall. So in exchange for this extra damage with cannon you are easily able to take damage directly from enemies, and enemies can easily target and take down ur cannon as well. That seems more than fair. There will be situations where you can’t target the cannons…..but the cannons will be used from long range and will be able to be kited/avoided since their max range isn’t all that bad and they are slow shots (like firing on ogre watch from overlook). But the same can be said for any siege…not fair to single cannons out in this way.

Besides cannons are still case specific. They are solving so many problems people have with proxy cata and ridiculously 1-sided cata spots as well. I mean people with pulls are having a field day with all these cannons….hit button, watch as cannon users is flung down to his death.

Debating to myself whether or not its even worthwhile to debate or form an argument here. How many people have changed their minds due to such posts……..pretty sure its still at 0-5%. If you don’t want cannons no argument anyone can give (no matter how much sense it makes or how right it is) is gonna change your mind, now is it?
