Server with "best" roamers/havok squads?

Some friends went to mag and say it’s great cause it doesn’t feel like they need to carry the players around them while roaming.

So they are so bad they get carried by those roamers on mag instead? Its a matter of perspective, lol.

I dont call any roamer good unless I know their skill level. Which I never do. Most run gank builds designed to roflstomp 1v1 and they kitten well know it. I know it when I run my condi scrapper. The only way I can truly test my skills is going 1v2 or 1v3 as that not only require combat skills but also quick thinking and tactics with target choice and executing stomps against the odds.

Thats why I cant judge other roamers – they’re not fighting 2 or 3 of me (unless I am on my mesmer).

I have 4 months playing guild wars 2 and I think I can make an opinion of it.
I’m sorry, but I think this game is very simple to me.

Yeah, well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.

Game has literally endless possible builds at disposal, some better some worse. There is even few meta builds per profession. You meantion other MMOs… but let me remind you that other MMOs are mostly limited by the type of armor you must use (in WoW for example if you are warrior you get strength plate items and that’s it. Zero customisation in that regard), and you’re also limited by the attacks you get (you pick Protection talents and that’s it. Attacks are always same, you have no control over anything and your talent build is either PvP or PvE. One single build with minor variations). GW gives you option to make a healer, tank, support, dps out of anything (some better, some worse). Seriously, combinations are unlimited. Meta builds will always exist everywhere. They aren’t necessarily best in damage, they are just well optimised and balanced when it comes to dealing damage and surviving.

You can’t expect a build that is randomly picked traits with non-fitting armor to be equal to build that has carefully picked and tested combination of traits, armor, runes, weapons and playstyle.

I’ve never even been asked for a meta build and I’m not sure where anyone would be asked, except for raiding. My guess is the OP tried to join an established raid group, not a “whoever can join may join” pug and the established raid group wanted certain builds and wouldn’t take him. If that’s it, make your own pug group and use whatever build you like and go raiding.

Perhaps the OP could clarify who was asking for specific builds when.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I don’t feel forced to play a meta build. Some builds are meta because they work especially well in certain situations, but there are plenty of competing builds that work really well (just not “as well”).

That being said, I don’t pug raids.

A lot of people that refuse to adapt to what is needed. Or maybe just not that interested and we end up teaching someone different every week. There are many reasons and it never is the same one from week to week.

Honestly I’d kick anyone that refused to adapt to the meta. Sounds harsh but it’s not fair to 9 people to be dragged down by 1 person.

This is the reason you should ignore silly prerequisites like The Eternal, AP, and Legendary Insight counts and just grab people who have the right build/gear and go from there. After a single run it is painfully obvious who doesn’t know what’s going on, and you can easily remove them from the group then.

Since you aren’t willing to explain raids people just stay silent.

Consider this retribution for all those Arah runs where I was trying to teach people lupi but they were too scared to ask for help because of people like you guys who refuse to play with people who haven’t already mastered the content or memorized your trite meta lingo.

Synergy is a guild started by some friends with a goal to create a small community of friendly players. We aren’t interested in having 500 members where no one knows anyone else. We are currently playing Guild Wars 2 primarily on the Jade Quarry server.

For Guild Wars 2, we participate both PvE and organized PvP in both WvWvW and structured PvP. Most of us have been gaming together since the days before Guild Wars 1 and continue to do so. Because of our long standing community, you will find that it is an atmosphere where everyone knows each other and learns to play well as a well oiled machine, hence the name Synergy.

Hardcore players should really stop posting about what is or is not suitable content for casual players. The fact that you can finish something under a minute, naked, with one hand only and wearing blindfold, does not mean it is doable for average casual player.

The average casual player never reads forums btw, so arguing with them in forum is fairly useless. If they don’t like the content, they simply stop playing.

The only reason raids don’t have a spot in the LFG is because raids are done by squads and not parties and there is no tech in the LFG to handle squads at this time. They are aware of the desire for it, and I am confident they’re working it, but it is not an easy solution that can be pushed in less than a month, especially considering so many developers are committed to addressing other things across the game.

OK, so just add a new slot under dungeons or something that uses the current party system. That’s all people do now anyway; one person leaves the squad and finds people through open world LFG. It’s not a perfect solution but it’s much better than what we have now, and I don’t see why you couldn’t have it up and running in an hour.

There was some dev information that they would not add raids to the lfg as they intended raids to be done by established groups, not by pug’s (or should that be “purs” “pick-up raid squad”?)

I dont understand them then as there are many good players out there, and a pug turns into an organized one with ts when they know tacs. Its like anet doesnt believe in their own playerbase, that we dont have the ability to adapt and progress as individuals, if they go along with the quoted sentiment.

The expansion has been out for over a month and there’s still no good way to find a group to raid with unless you know people already. Isn’t a dedicated spot for raids on the LFG list something that should have been included on launch? Make a tab for the raid on LFG and let us sort by which boss we want to kill.

While needing ascendeds to be able to complete raids may not be true it is unfortunately becoming so for people that try to PUG to do it. For example earlier I was looking on LFG and saw a post saying “LF Engineer VG” since I have a condi engi (on which i have gotten VG to <5%) I join up and entered the instance then they asked me to link my gear (I have all but 3 pieces ascended Sinister/Rampager and 98% burn and bleed duration) so I do, and within 10 seconds I am kicked. Annoyed i look for the guy on LFG again and whisper him to ask why i was kicked. he claimed that whenever anyone is looking for an engineer for raids it is implied that they will only accept a fully ascended Viper engineer. First I point out that I already have 98% on the main 2 damaging conditions i apply and the duration caps at 100% so it would be stupid for me to get Viper then tell him that groups that want full ascended are supposed to put it in the LFG description, so of course he decides to insult my intelligence.
I realize that most people aren’t this horrendously rude and stupid but since raids came out I have noticed that they are growing in number

Just my 2c. The ascended requirement wouldn’t have been so bad if there was an actual viable way to earn them outside of sinking gold into them. WoW may have been filled with elitist snobs due to the nature of in-game progression, but what they did perfectly was gear progression (at least back in Burning Crusade). It was quest reward gear>dungeon gear>heroic dungeon gear>entry level raid gear>tier set gear found in harder raids. But what do we have in GW2? We’re forced into sinking gold into crafting professions to make the best gear that can be attained. We can’t even pay someone to do the crafting for us, we’re forced to learn a crafting profession, level it, then spend even more money to craft what we need (if we want the best possible gear). It’s like traveling from one point to another, but all roads eventually lead to the same expensive toll gate.

But even with all that said, I’ve pretty much resigned to the fact that there’s no way around it…so here I am, spending my weekends trying to farm the mats and gold necessary to make:

2 swords
1 hammer
1 mace
1 axe
1 shield

At this rate, I’m probably gonna get my ascened weapons by xmas 2016.

Not a fan of the adventures either. On the topic of mastery points, I feel they are used to force you into certain content. Why isn’t it good enough to fill the mastery bar with experience to get your mastery? Why are mastery points necessary? I don’t think adventures would get much play if they didn’t have mastery points dangling over them.

i did not buy raiding game …

Yes you did. You bought such a game with HoT. They announced long before release that raids would be added and that said raids would have unique rewards that are unobtainable anywhere else.

So why are you whining now? Did you just preorder HoT before any content was known? That’s your fault. You could preorder as late as some hours before release.

You don’t go to any car dealer, “pre-order” next years convertible without getting any information on it and then rage around like “I thought it would get from 0 to 200mp/h in 2 seconds, you betrayed me…”

Seriously, do you guys even read what you write?

the raiding with full info announced last, few weeks before the lunch…not including data mining and speculations.
wait a minute you are saying you do not know when Anet constantly advertising non traditional mmo.
interesting how fanboy defending this at least ask anet to give you some money or something because if you defend them on your own then get life.
they lied they added traditional stuff to the game.
you read what you write before defending a company that advertised their game as non raiding non traditional game for 3 years and few weeks before the lunch suddenly announce raiding is coming.

Please never edit your post. It’s hilarious.

Don’t like ‘em? Then don’t do ‘em. Simples.
I’ve never been in a dungeon, a fractal or a raid, and my time in HoT was very short-lived but I’m enjoying the rest of the game just fine.
You don’t need those rewards to enjoy yourself. You do, um, play for enjoyment, don’t you?

Indeed, I do. But tell me, how many times can you do the same fractals, dungeons or PvE events before getting bored? If they don’t add new content for existing game modes, then where is the fun?

If the only new end game content takes the form of a game mode I don’t like, while the game modes I do like are ignored or worse, intentionally abandoned, then how am I meant to have fun? X__x

Your final diss of WOW shows your ignorance .. in WOW raids are open to pretty much everyone because of the fact Blizzard have implemented several difficulties. As a result of LFR raid participation rocketed from a mere 15% back in ‘vanilla’ (with only 5% every actually clearing raid content) to over 40%.

The elitist jerks get their phat lewt in the top tier while the majority of players are able if they wish to actually get to play the lower tiers and maybe then learn and want to play higher tier.

All Anet have done is to create a single tier aimed at the elitist jerks who are now on the forums here sneering at the ‘scrubs’ as several of them call the rest of the playerbase.

The State of Tempest

in Elementalist

Glenstorm.4059

I think the AoE cleanse and protection spam builds are the strongest. With soldier runes and torrents and cleansing water and diamond skin, you basically delete condition pressure from the enemy team.

But yeah I do think maybe elemental shielding should be ICDed or something to at least give other people gaps in the tempest’s infinite protection rotation, since no one runs boon strip on mesmer anymore to play the much more braindead chronobunker. I do like things about tempest like the positional gameplay of overloads and wash the pain away. I like the skillful support it brings. I don’t like how it can easily hardcounter certain builds in many situations though.

I don’t agree that ES should be nerfed just because other classes that have ample boon strip refuse to adapt and run it. Honestly, the only aspect in which I see Tempest being slightly overtuned at the moment is versus condi builds, but that is mostly because of Diamond Skin. I don’t think Shouts are spammable enough to negate sustained condi pressure in teamfights.

Fear the might of SHATTERSTONE.

I said this earlier in another post

I fully expect AA, Glint heal, and shield 5 to get nerfed.

other than that I see buffs across the board coming, especially mallyx

Duration of Glint heal was already reduced by 25%. Besides, if you mean for pvp it is a learn to play issue.

Shield 5 already had a cd increase of 5 seconds.

Reducing damage on the AA would require reworking the entire profession since most of the damage comes from AA by design. If anything needs to be adjusted, it is IO, not the AA.

While I’m quite happy to see aura visual noise nerfed, the removal of Shocking Aura’s audio cue makes it pretty hard to know when the effect is going on. While before we had a similar problem (too many auras on at the same time lead to it being impossible to see what aura was on without looking at the buff bar), at least the audio cues of the auras provided a way to know what was going on. The audio cues still exist on the other three auras, to varying degrees. However, missing the sound on Shocking Aura is going to lead to some pretty upsetting situations where you literally just never know if an Ele might have shocking aura or not.

Raids = good, Timers = bad

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Harper.4173

Harper.4173

To the argument against a full defense team cheese moding everything without a timer: so what? Its going to take them an incredibly longer time, and I cant imagine anyone doing it that way would be having much fun. In which way would it impact people on a large scale? Do you think it would replace the zerk meta in its “zerk or kick” mentality? Do you really think there would be enough players willing to take that much more time in a raid for that to happen?

Except most players that play for reward only would most likely prefer to have a clear successful run that they can schedule and know they’ll get it done then try 10231 times and fail and have to try again and lose people and so on.

After I’ve beaten raids normally for the challenge the first time around I would rather spend 2-3 hours per boss in a raid knowing i’ll succeed 100% then doing them “normally” again.

Because certainty, predictability and scheduling are things people go for.
I’m willing to bet you most raid groups would end up doing it this way – and Anet knows it.

Look at Mossman – a fight that’s not hard at all compared to Raids – and yet most groups preferred to pull him under water where he could do nothing, autoattack him and tab out. Even groups with people that could have easily beaten him on land quicker chose to do this.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”
