Armor? So Toughness isn’t a factor?

Its weird in gw2. I think armor value is the total combined stats for defense from armor and toughness. Basically, highest total defensive stats is what determine aggro on first boss

Ascended Drop Rates
We’ve noticed some changes to ascended drop rates that are below what we were expecting.

If you tell a computer, 10%, it will give you 10%. If you tell it, 1%, it will give you 1%. Please tell me, how you can “EXPECT” less than the value YOU put in? Are you kidding me?

You know, I would respect you a lot more if you you man up for a change.

Except that’s not how that works. At all.

That’s absolutely how it works. There are many very complex systems in this game. RNG boxes are not one of them, so don’t try and white-knight by pretending that coding an RNG box takes any amount of skill or experience, because it doesn’t.

You literally just slap an RNG with a if check onto every item in the loot table. If RNG produces a number above a threshold, then it appears in the box. This is not complex, and saying that they ’didn’t expect rates to be this low’ is either flat out lying or admitting they literally don’t have the first clue of how either math or coding works.

Mastery Experience

Gold

I am very happy you decided to post on these forums. The changes sound positive, but the fact is they are 2 months too late. I want to point out how big a blunder this was, and how important it is to avoid it in the future.

Everyone wants ascended for raids, exp for their masteries, and gold for their guild upgrades etc. So many people looked to fractals, and then left because of this mistake. This was an amazing opportunity for you to bring a LOT of new players into fractals, and you blew it. Will you ever get such an opportunity again? Who knows.

Raids are coming out this week, people will think of raids as the main way to get ascended drops, they may have already forgotten fractals.

Central tyria mastery exp has already been grinded out in cof. If fractals had been rewarding, a lot of players would have tried them out. But now they are done grinding those masteries.

Many dungeon runners were grinding out a ton of gold for legendaries/guild halls/etc. With dungeons nerfed, they looked to fractals, and then walked away to other more profitable options. Their halls upgraded, and there weapons built, they have no reason to come back.

TLDR: First impression matter, and you threw this one away. Please don’t do it again. I want to see fractals succeed, and part of that is drawing in the population.

I feel quite the opposite.

I tried Revenant, maxed it, geared it full ascended, tried it in all the HoT map.
I find that Revenant game-play is really kinda dual compare to Tempest/Ele.
The main problem is the lack of diversity, both in traits and skills.

For traits, the way it works currently is more like choose good ones from all the bads.
Ventari line is worthless if you don’t use Centaur. There’re ALOT of imcomplete/weak traits fill out spaces that you can probably only pick 1 among 3. Sometimes all 3 options are crap and do not suit certain builds. Also you can tell that the trait lines have little synergy among each other, unlike Ele. (Tempest / Air / Water/ Fire/ Earth all interact with each other, like auras boons, cantrips)

Skills are the same, everything is locked out. Weapon design looks interesting at first, but when you take a close look you’d find that it’s kinda dual too.
Sword is the best dps weapon, but all you do mostly is actually just spamming 1111 because that’s the max dps rotation. There’s little reason to use other skills aside from using 3 as a mean to evade attacks.

Staff is in a weird place. 2, 3 has little use, and mostly used as a weapon to cleanse and to break bar. That’s it.

Hammer is probably the most fun weapon of Revenant, with lots of utility value and utilize all 5 skills.

Seriously, play Revenant alittle longer and you’d know what I mean. Ele/Tempest is still a much more diverse/fun class in my opinion.

Last note, Ele “dps build” has ALWAYS BEEN squishy. Yet people still value them and take them into coordinate teams because the damage difference is really SIGNIFICANT.
Don’t know why you suddenly complained about something that’s been like that forever. Tempest is actually the more durable dps build of Ele. Also Tempest can trait into alittle more defensive to address the squishiness of old zerk Ele. Also you have option of Marauder now to increase your survival while not sacrificing too much damage. (Still higher than most classes)

I can no longer defend the Tempest after playing Revenant.

The Tempest really is kind of meh. For all the reasons you guys have stated. DPS build too squishy, Bunker build lacks stun breaks + stability + damage, etc.

In order to join the ranks of Reaper, Scrapper, Dragonhunter, and Chronomancer, (and maybe Druid and Berserker – can’t tell if they’re good right now), I must play Revenant.

I must embrace the deeps…

Stunbreaks available to Bunker Build:

Trait one.

Using an Overload.

Taking any Stun-break options we have in our Utilities.

I DO think that Rebound needs to become an instant cast Stunbreak though, that would go a long way toward making it more viable as an Elite.

Its not a new idea. A lot of games already do this. In a sense, EotM is pushing this boundary also. But combining 3 servers into one alliance might help fill those new BL’s.

I always figured ANet would move towards Alliance style play eventually.

neville.3420

Population is becoming an issue even on T2 servers (I’m on FA and anything but EBG is routinely empty).

How do you guys feel about:
1) Remove concept of servers (we already have megaserver PVE)
2) Add concept of “Alliance”
3) Alliance is account bound, costs gems to transfer just like server transfers
4) Reduced number of alliances (about half as many as there are servers, or maybe even less)
5) Do not need to choose an alliance until when trying to go to WvW for the first time. This will help new players who don’t understand that servers only matter for WvW.

The difference between a “server” and “alliance” is pretty small. Basically, there are far less alliances than servers and they do not need to be chosen until trying to enter WvW. In a perfect world, every alliance is “full” all the time so that every tier would be fully populated and only skill would separate them.

Bonus: other ideas
1) Alliances can be guild-based instead of account-based (although this has the makings of server/alliance hoping)
2) Alliances expire after every WvW tournament season and every account must select a new one upon entering WvW for the first time after every season

Fractals need NEW content.

Absolutely, it’s hugely disappointing we’ve not seen anything new in 2 years and 2 ‘reworks’. The new instabilities are half kitten d, and as Brazil said apparently designed by someone with a ‘kitten your meta’ attitude. Fundamentally it’s still all the same and it’s painfully obvious how little resources they actually want to commit to their instanced content.

I was talking with my friends about fractals we’d love to see and there’s so many cool things that could be done like:

The Fall of Abaddon/Abaddon giving magic to humans.

All the Bonus Mission Pack missions from GW1 (Turai Ossa vs Palawa Joko, the Canthan Tengu summit, Saul and the White Mantle).

Marionette boss fight.

Destiny’s edge vs Kralkatorrik (everyone get’s skinned as a DE member and follows an NPC snaff).

Something that explores the Largos more.

You’re supposed to raid with a Static (or at least a Guild) group. They’re not something you’re supposed to be clearing with pugs.

As you’ll be raiding with mostly a set group, I wager that you can decide for yourselves how to raid. In other games, people cheesing their way through the hardest raids with exploits have got banned however. Any team that likes to think of themselves as half-decent should not be wanting to cheese through raids with exploits anyways. I don’t think Anet will be any more lenient with their philosophy if they can get the glimpse of it.

I do think Fractals are in a very weird (and unrewarding) state right now. I haven’t seen much exploiting around, only instant vote kicks when someone dcs for a minute I think.

I disagree with this. You don’t need a static group, the content isn’t really that hard. And if the only reason is to avoid people being toxic, then I think the solution lies somewhere else. I usually run with friends/guildies, but if I want to do my daily when they’re not on, I shouldn’t be forced to exploit the content.

Ever since the change to fractals the community got much more toxic. I’ve been seeing people trying to kick others if they do not have masteries even in lower level fractals when it doesn’t matter so much, which sucks for everyone not owning hot. However, something that I find really insane has been happening a lot. Ever since people discovered the Mossman exploit – standing on a top of the wooden thing in order to avoid damage and just afk it down. While it’s their choice to use this exploit and I’m not gonna prevent them from doing so, I think it’s ridiculous these people force exploiting on others. It happened several times when half of the party would just stand there and threatening with kicks if others don’t abuse the bug, too.

Is this what we came to? People cannot be bothered to do the content normally, so they’ll make everyone abuse bugs and kick them if they do not want to? Is this how we’re supposed to do raids, too? Just find bugs and exlpoits fast so we can finish the content? What can you actually do against this? Nothing at all. You can just leave and then spend an hour in lfg because very little people can/want to do high level fractals. I really wish they were quick on fixing these things, because it’s not fun to be around such people.

1) PVE is not 90% of the game.
2) I disagree on Anet here.
3) Why then you want to stack vit or thougness if you are gonna be dead anyway?
4) Again, if you know what to dodge or block, whay do you want vit or thoug?
5) Go and fight lupi on nomads (is boring as hell but you won’t die at all) or do it on zerk; then we talk about skill. What is the matter? If you are good enough you can go glass cannon. That is how it should be in my opinion.

The problem is that people wants that support = healing. Well, sorry, but in this game support = reflects, blinds, aegis, alacrity, quickness, etc. That is how the game is designed and I love it for that.
On the other hand, pvp and WvW are 2/3 where you cna play the healer role.

By the way, if you think that “all is dps dps dps”, sorry, but you have been carried all this time.

We can tal,k and probably agree, about smarter AI, but that is another issue and has nothing to do about classical trinity or lack of it.

the only skill you need in lupicus fight is ressing people fast enough when they fall. it is just putting lupicus on the wall and stack until it dies. there is no skill in this, just press 1 to 5, f for revive, end

At the initial release of the HoT jungle was hard but now it is really watered down and now it is typical pre HoT.

You know what to dodge nothing will happen you, the problem with GW2 there is either one shot damage or not damage.

A healer can not to anything for one shot damage and it can’t do anything for no damage.

A healer can only do something, if there is continuous source of small damage or more frequent attacks with smaller damages, which we don’t have at the moment, until we have it, there is no need for a healer.

People hate so much tanks/healers in this game that ministrel amulet removed from the game in one week. It is better have 1000s of hybrid that can self heal and do damage then having this 2 stereotypes.

I am waiting for 3 years these 2 stereotypes to have an existence reason in this game other wise lets delete the skills and gears for those, there is no reason to confuse new players…..

Zerker is still meta for PvE, maybe together with some viper condi builds now for longer fights.

Let’s see if raids change that.

Edit: Don’t nerf Chronomancer. I like that now, Chronomancer is not part of the meta, but the meta is part of the Chronomancer. Classes are now ranked with how well they perform with alacrity

People start to get the hang of what to do on the lanes now, the problem is the Chak Gerent, It’s way too hard to kill. I’ve only been to a lane with enough DPS once (another lane failed that time).
The Gerent’s health/defence needs a nerf.

I’m surprised you haven’t found the new Elite Specs themselves interesting enough to keep playing. I started on my Guardian turned Dragonhunter, and learning to play HoT in comfort was a bit of a curve.

After finishing HoT masteries, I gave my Thief some time at Daredevil. Unlike Dragonhunter, Daredevil seemed very ‘meh’ until I unlocked all of the Elite Spec’s features. That’s when it happened, fun. Extreme fun. While Daredevil doesn’t offer the direct “get in there and get some” to the point of almost feeling invincible type of play that I was used to on my Dragonhunter, it was extremely enjoyable to play. You have to actively monitor and play the field instead of just smashing things in the face and telling them to get some. My build also allows for an insane amount of mobility to the point that people message me asking what profession I am.

I’m still working out the specifics of using the Staff most effectively, but seeing the light of Daredevil has me really interested to see what else is hidden behind the other 7 Elite Specs.

The ascended chest drop rates have not merely been “decreased,” which implies something reasonable might have happened. No, they are less than one tenth of what they used to be. A much more extreme word is warranted. Like “obliterated,” or “nearly eliminated.”

I’m not joking; the numbers back it up.

I don’t play the game any more (due to the story being gated by masteries and the huge decline in WvW population due to WvW players playing PvE) but I would like to know what masteries I will need to have to do the raids so I can decide if its worth farming for them before the raids are released.

Just wait until raids are released so that you actually know which masteries are required. It looks like Anet wants to keep the requirements as secret as possible in a desperate attempt to keep people grinding out masteries (in order to retain player population numbers).

Do you really want to grind out masteries that turn out to be unnecessary?

Ignore your starting area. find the central hub where everything converges, then you can easily access all areas of the map without much problems.

Don’t attempt map objectives without wallows and updraft. You should also have at least a week of roaming experience on the map, too. Otherwise, you’ll find it extremely frustrating to find things if you haven’t already memorized most of the travel routes, amount and type of enemies in each zone, etc.

^This. Leyline confluence waypoint is vital to getting around TD.

It isn’t even though. You can get from OoW WP to Leyline Confluence WP in like 2 minutes with just gliding and bouncing shrooms. The map is so easy to get around once you know it people just don’t want to have to learn anything.

Some people have bad memories, or feel like they shouldn’t have to memorise some stupid JP like map just to be able to get around to grind out their mastery points or whatever is forcing them to play in maps they don’t like.

5 days to raids and not got anywhere near enough mastery points (and seem to have run out of tyrian ones) or grinded out enough exp to be able to reach the npc to find out how many scraps or whatever are required to get the stuff from him.

By far the most frustrating thing about most of the map areas is if you miss a jump or an updraft or a mushroom or slip off a ledge it’s a long long tedious fight back to where you needed to be.

And the maps themselves when you look at them to try and see where you need to go are pretty useless too, and you end up running in circles trying to find how to get to the guy 1000 away but above you.
