Did OP just delete himself out of this whole thread.
Hmm never saw that before
Tarir is perfectly fine in term of balance (maybe the south+west could be easier, and north/east harder), but it’s really enjoyable
I have more concerns for the Dragon’s stand meta event … when a group of 6-7 players are defending a pod, sometimes for absolutely no reason, there is 60 elites and 40 veterans spawning on your face …
Pods are designed to be defended by a small group, so it’s hard to understand those spawning rules, it’s trully random, it’s not a scaling issue, i saw this when we were literally 7 around one pod

I was slightly alarmed to see the recent ANet HP announcement say that they are very happy with the difficulty level of HoT. I can’t help but think they have lost touch with their core audience. I’ve recently left another game where the devs listened to the vocal minority who said they wanted it harder. It stopped being fun for me, and for others, so that game now has fewer players and might struggle to survive.
Casual players are the bread and butter of these games which means providing a huge quantity of relatively easy content. I don’t think the expansion can be a commercial success if it only targets hardcore players so, yes, I think it will get nerfed sooner or later. Open world stuff should not be a struggle for normal players with average kit. But it’s hard to ask those players what they want because most of them will never come to the forum.
Those HoT maps are big. There is plenty of room to accommodate players of all skill levels. Maybe Anet need to learn from GW1 and have a hard mode version of each map for those who are “in it to win it” rather than ramping up the difficulty in the normal maps.
Put simply: some players don’t play for the challenge.
If I can watch t.v. , and play a game at the same time there’s something wrong with the challenge, but maybe that’s just me. If you want less challenge tyria has about 25 maps already for ya.

i think its a good change, cause now ppl could focus on play the game, rather than trying to unlock Elite Spec
this is the beta thing happend to gw2, every 1 MUST use it, i cant play without it now, its amezing if every 1 will use this, this game will look soo better
The reason for HoT's story being so short
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Honestly, it’s a longer story than some AAA games. Not only that, the events are more story oriented in the expansion, so you get fun pieces of lore in a variety of places.
It could have been a tad longer, but I still think it blows the original story out of the water. It’s not great or anything, but it’s good enough IMO.

The story continues through Living Story updates and raids, the first of which we know we’ll be getting in a few weeks. So I imagine that the base story was rather short because it’s meant to be done quickly, in order to let everyone continue it as raids and other updates come very soon.
Basically this then:
“OMG I cant play that much per day in order to get my stuffz I deserve cause I gave them money!!!”
>Has 20+ level 80 characters
Wut, who even forced you to level so many characters? Like seriously why do people complain about having to invest time when they have already done such things like having dozens of lvl 80 characters … sigh*
This is really funny actually
Feeling Rorted - Anet wasting my time?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

No need to be rude, I agree. However, a couple of hours a night every night, plus all weekend long – that’s 10 hours a week + say a good eight per saturday and sunday? So that’s 26 hours a week?
I would say that might be the average for a young person with no other obligations outside of work. It’s really not the average at all for people at most other stages of their lives.
The change was needed. desperately so. ANet wronged the playerbase by putting such ridiculous requirements for all characters to get their elite specialisation fully unlocked. Having the need to be superior to other people, as you yourself have outlined in your post, does make you an elitist.
all that said, a title would be a great idea, and this is coming from someone who won’t ever get all the hero points. “Mordrem basher” or something along those lines. There should be recognition for those who do complete all the hero points for now, and have the ability to obtain them removed like several other titels from previous living world segments.
I see nothing wrong with this suggestion.
Just pls, get over it. Eventually people would have been at the same point as you were maybe a week ago. You were never anything special and you’ll be nothing special, at least in that regard.
(And yes, I could’ve finished daredevil in like a day, but do I feel good about it? No. Why? It’s nothing special.)
People have done the content, left or just stopped playing regulary because it was indeed a little too much and even anet themself, as they mentioned in the blog, didn’t like it either.
This may all sound a bit harsh, don’t misunderstand me, but the crying about the ones who cried, is getting actually more annoying than the ‘old’ ones, it was anets decision, now please, leave this subject alone.
If the, " two large walls ," had been something particularly challenging rather than just time consuming I might agree with you.
You simply need to understand you’re the minority, most people can’t play all day, every day. Content will never be balanced around you.
With the change to the megaserver, the reduced cost of elite specs, and the fact masteries are account bound you can probably grind out the spec on an alt in a few hours. If you can’t spare a few hours to play an alt, why even have an alt?
I can’t even start to understand people that actually are against that change. Those people that unlocked it in 14 hours or a few days and are bragging about it, have done actually less work than most new players will do. Which is also no accomplishment if you did in 14 hours or a few days, because as many say: ’It’s not actually as challenging as people say’ So where is the accomplishment in it then if it’s no challenge?
I for myself would have needed only 1-2 days on my thief to unlock it, because I got a kickstart from playing 2 years only Thief.
But since Daredevil doesn’t appeal to me as much as Reaper, I switched. Didn’t even have enough points to unlock the spec (the 60 in the beginning) and had to repeatedly do the same events, just to learn things to get to hero points. Which, to be honest, wasn’t all to bad, but I felt very frustrated at some points and just logged off.
Now with the 250 points only, I’ll actually get the Reaper fully unlocked once the patch comes out. (Being at roughly 65% now). And my god will this change alot of things in terms of fun.
And there’s still the usual challenge, which are the new mobs, soon raids and higher fractal levels. I really don’t get this huge arguement about the change. It’s stupid.
So, thank you ArenaNet.
Why do the people who think this is a bad change act like getting elite spec is difficult or that it’s an accomplishment? It’s really not. There is no challenge there, i have my elite spec and i feel no accomplishment because it wasn’t hard at all, so the change makes no difference.
Stop being delusional thinking you have some superiority for doing a boring and slightly tedious task when it was more boring and tedious.

Spent 6 hours in WvW trying everything out, events, etc. No go.
So we have unlocked the ability to restore the war room of our guild hall, only to find out that it requires 15 “Badges of Tribute.” Mousing over the badge of tribute tells us “Purchased for badges of honor in the guild’s war room.”
So unless there is a hidden way to acquire these, this appears to completely block the ability for any guild to ever acquire the war room. We have searched through all the vendors in the WvW areas and have found no way to turn badges of honor into badges of tribute.
To those that are crying foul and are touting that they did the full 400 point unlock within the first weekend:
Thank you for showing us who has no life and should NOT be listened to. Players went to Guild Wars because of the laid back and enjoyable playing experience. Guild Wars worked VERY WELL for us gamers that have REAL LIVES and families. Guild Wars 2 for the most part continues that.
You are not “Gamers,” you are self absorbed children that never grew up and never had parents that taught you responsibility. Video games are NOT a career unless you are making them. Learn responsibility and get a job that actually requires you to commit to it. You know, the type of career that you can’t take days off whenever you feel like it. Then try playing video games.
250 points is an excellent middle ground. Characters that did World Completion before WvW was removed will have less to do, but Characters after the change will have more to do.

this is reasonable, I don’t feel anyone losing anything here, the map is still chellenging
Forced to grind Vanilla GW2 for HoT legs
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Somehow, I don’t think this one’s got the legs that the Elite Spec issue had.
I was one of the people who wanted it to change, I like it. Mobs stay hard, masteries stay time consuming, raids will be hard but now I get to do them with my spec the way I wanted it. Also it’s not like they made the remaining hero points easier to get so you still have the challenge of obtaining them.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
Legendaries are, and always have been, intended to require you go go all over the game, and spend lots of time and money to acquire.
That’s why they’re completely optional equipment that isn’t technically better than the much easier to acquire ascended equivalent in terms of raw character power.

I’m watching with interest in the upcoming changes. I’m still waiting to see how everything shakes out, and for some professional reviews, but the level of communication this week, and the speed of the responses to the feedback has been positive, in my opinion. Good on you, ANET. I may end up in the jungle, yet.
-Mike O’Brien
Because we can’t be angry about both?
As has been said multiple times, don’t call it elite. It is not “elite”. Elite is a title given to an alpha class, as in…if you are a reaper you will slaughter every single individual in PvP that isn’t also an elite of some kind without even trying. THAT is elite. This is nothing more than another option, that frankly shouldn’t cost a single HP more than any other spec line.
hahahahahaha “a few people per a thousand who whined”? Just look the increasing numbers thanking Anet for the change.
Please please please ANET. Stand your ground. Weren’t Masteries and Unlocking Elite Spec supposed to take longer than getting to level 80 in the base game? Why are you folding to the elite spec complaints and not doing anything about the mastery farming?
You’re in the minority clearly
Unlucky since launch, RNG isn’t random
PugLife SoloQ
but for those who completed Central Tyria Hero Points, 250 points means almost full elite specialization unlocked… Which means that for those who explored the Core Guild Wars 2, unlocking the elite specialization will no longer be a challenge or even feel like an accomplishment. Thanks all
btw you can do your own challenge.
(comparison to gw2 vanilla hardcore e.g the woodenpotatoes rules for hc mode with no dodge and so on)
here ist the rule for HoT:
dont unlock your elite completly until you have earned all hero points
—> challenge accepted
“hardcores” can play the game with their"personally 400 Hp is the only real way anet expected to play" while others enjoy the jungle with new traits and new feeling of playing their alts.
all win.
