I kinda like them. They give defenders alot more options now. I mean defending fire keep inner against cata’s placed behind that walls was really way too hard before cannons were here. Now you have a chance to speedbuild them in corners and use the aoe to flush out most cata spots. Attackers can easily counter the counter by setting up balli or their own cannon/ac at the top of the wall by the inner…its really not hard, just takes a smart commander who accesses the situation properly (something that should be rewarded in wvsw).
In terms of smc…people are building shield gens when attacking inner, which i find rather interesting. And the shields obv cover the rams to prevent them from dying.
I really like cannons so far no lie. Not at all as crazy or insane as I originally thought. Smart attackers use cannons themselves to frustrate defenders to death.
I do agree that rams need to do a bit more damage or ‘something’…..cata’s have always been stealing the show from rams to an unfair degree and now its slightly more profound i guess. 2 wrongs shouldn’t make a right though….rams vs cata was a separate problem and shouldn’t be reason to get rid of cannons.
maybe we’ll have deployable oil pots in the future. that might be interesting….although the only use it would have is for burning supply since oil dmg is horrid.

Shield? Useless in PVE? We talking about the same game? The one where you drop Test of Faith and knock enemies out of it, then watch them walk right back in? The one where you sling aegis to your team and watch Shattered Aegis and Pure of Heart work their magic?
I’ve not found it to be useless… not at all.
Shield is really fine as it is. With the right sigils its ofensive and more healling tha u think
The shield is pretty much the iconic weapon of a guardian yet its been lackluster from launch.
Stalwart Defender should be buffed or changed to make the shield worth using outside of pure support builds. Putting a point in the talent could make your shield ablities deal AoE damage on use or something, anything really.
Just make it worth carrying around outside of that one time you feel like pushing people off cliffs.
It gives area Denial, Projectile block and Aoe heals it does have 1 Aoe damage on the skill 4….. it’s got a decent amount of utility it doesn’t need more damage
The drop rates from the reward tracks seem decent to me. I haven’t done fractals for years so I wouldn’t know if it’s better there or not. I’ve gotten several ascended rings and ascended armor/weapon chests from random loot boxes in the dungeon tracks, the maguuma tracks and the triumphant armor track. The loot boxes from the new bloodstone fen and ember bay tracks haven’t given me anything decent, so maybe only a few tracks have boxes with good drop rates.
Just because they drop doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a way to buy them. You can now buy Ascended Boxes with Stabilizing Matrixes + Gold in the fractals regardless of the fact that the boxes drop from daily fractal boxes.
It’s always better to have a sure way instead of expect RNGeesus to bless you.

I hope anet lets us buy ascended armor/weapons/trinkets with WvW badges.
it will be a great halloween gift!
We shouldn’t be made to get it via raids or crafting or lucky drops only. and the drop rates in WvW seems much lower than high level fractals =(

Isn’t there already one of these in the gem store? I’m pretty sure that’s what it does, although it might also destroy the armor while it’s at it. Been a while since I looked in the shop.
The upgrade extractor in gem store is one time use only. And it costs way too much for consumable item. 250gem for 1 extractor which is around 65gold is not justifiable.
It’s actually 25 uses for 300 gems, which is less than 10g per use.
We are talking about the Upgrade Extractor which is 1time use
not the BL Salvage kit
Yes because Kaineng, ET, BP, AR, SoR, FC, DR combined still probably wouldn’t be able to outnumber most of the host servers. You can link as many of us as you want to whatever server, and they likely won’t notice a difference.
Now if they linked BG and Mag, then yes. That would create some sick queues.
But the whole “Omg they got 2 servers, we got only 1 !” the number of servers doesn’t matter, the number of PLAYERS does. And if all those servers I had listed above has a 100 players each and that’s pushing it, thats 700 players during a week total divided over all time zones. The largest servers can pull that many on reset night alone.

…I’ve even had comments asking me how the h_ll did I survive when others died…
it’s pretty simple to answer that. if you keep yourself to the deepmbackline using your pewpew lb at 1800 most probably you wont get hurt.
And because you are in the same block as necros and eles even the hunting thieves will choose other targets over you.
So that’s why you survive. That or you go with the tag plus ultra tank cheesy build that deal no damage. Either case your impact in the enemy zerg is minimal.

I am a WvW noob but I have played my druid on my server and not heard a single complaint. My server is curb stomping the other two at the moment (Yak’s Bend). From what I see the domination has a lot less to do with what classes are being played and more to do with the leadership knowing how to win. These guys are kitten good and seem able to work with any group.
Although I’m sure they are happier to see some more zerg friendly classes I’ve yet to hear a single complaint on class choices in map chat or ts.
Trust me, you’ll start to hear it the minute your server starts losing.

I main druid in a hardcore WvW guild (size 15-25 per raid) on FSP. The statement that Druid is somewhat unplayable or does not bring as much to a zerg as other classes is simply false, even in an open raid with 50+. Although I won’t share my build, my general advice is to not play or understand it as a ranged class and forget all that stuff one would associate with a “ranger”. People in this thread have already hinted in the right direction.
That being said:
1. Almost all rangers/druids I usually encounter in a zerg (not including roaming) are absolutely worthless, bad players with bad builds, so just speaking from experience – if I had the choice between a random guardian/warrior/necro/mesmer/tempest and a random ranger, I would always choose the former. Metabattle also plays a role here – the aforementioned classes have very efficient and easily accessible builds available which are effective even if the player skill is quite poor. Not the case for Druid.2. Their tag, their rules. Yes, I know it sucks to be excluded due to prejudice and I also know that most public commanders are unaware of the potential a druid brings to the frontline, but “play how you want” does not mean “ordain how other ppl have to play”. If they dont want to play with a druid, however stupid the reason for that, it is their decision.
3. Picking off stragglers with pew pew was a quite effective thing to do back in the old meta where focus parties were still a thing. At the moment, not so much.
4. As I said, Druid has amazing potential, but it is way harder to implement. It requires people to stay focused on tag, multiple Druids dont scale as well as i.e. multiple guardians or necros and they most of the time need additional stab from guards. It puts more restraints on party building and more responsibility on party members to do their job well. 3 uncoordinated Guardians + X is way safer than 2 uncoordinated Guards + 1 Druid + X.
My final advise: Get a guild and dont rely on people to change just because you want them to.
If you were going to berate everyone as “doing it wrong” but then not share “the secret correct way” of doing it, you wasted you time writing that wall of text.
2v1 him and profit.
There is no need to behave like white knight in WvW roaming.
So the problem is that you want them to drop faster? Believe me, if you keep playing you will eventually wind up with more than you can possibly spend. It sounds like you may have run for a few hours and just think you should have more. Sorry, but the drop rate is fine.
I concur, the rate of badge acquisition is good. The thing I’d like to see is more wvw specific gear/goods we could spend badges on.

I agree with much of what you say. Gliding is awesome, adventures are lame, and everyone should earn spirit shards for experience regardless of their mastery progress. I otherwise enjoy the mastery system, but I would make the additional suggestion that bounce mushrooms and updrafts should have been granted as baseline via the storyline.
Along with gliding, players would have the basic tools they need to begin exploring the jungle and I think it would have felt a lot less restrictive.

First of all: Happy Anniversary! This expansion is very close to a year old now! I think now is an excellent time to provide some feedback on the expansion now that people have had lots of time to experience it.
1. Gliding: I LOVE gliding. I glide everywhere. Core Tyria, the newest Living World zones, WvW… Well, the cliffs in Desert Borderlands are so tempting that sometimes I forget I can’t glide there. At least it’s a free trip back to spawn!
2. Adventures: Too much basic content is gated behind them (Mastery Points). And they aren’t available all the time. You have to wait a long time for them to be open to play. I know the times used to be even longer. But it is still long now. For something like this, it should be open 24/7 so you can play it. When you’re trying to get enough mastery points to continue leveling up it can be very frustrating to do an adventure. I did not gold many adventures, even after a year. Finally managed to silver most of them, at least. I might appreciate and enjoy them more if there wasn’t basic content gated behind them. As they stand now, if the plan is to gate mastery points behind Adventures again, I would simply rather not have Adventures in the next expansion.
3. The Mastery Point system: I strongly dislike this. After a year of the expansion being out, I still do not have enough Mastery Points. I didn’t really care, because I could take the best part of the expansion (gliding) out of the expansion and into content I liked more (at the time, Core zones), but now that there are new Living World zones and they count as expansion zones, I cannot gain spirit shards there because I cannot gain XP. This feels really bad. Especially because the big bonus you can get in the first new Living World zone is increased XP gains. I played back when every level-up gave you a Skill Point (now “Spirit Shard”) so it feels really bad and frustrating that this functionality was removed, then re-added. Now I am gated from it in the new zones because I did not go back to do expansion content I don’t enjoy to get the masteries.
Problem Identified: Players who do not have 100% maxed Masteries cannot level up, and cannot earn Spirit Shards as a result.
In an MMORPG, gaining XP is a core mechanic. GW2 has historically (pre-expansion) been an excellent game for always making gaining XP feel rewarding even post-level-80. It may be true that earning Spirit Shards post-80 is not as fundamental as earning levels 2-80. And it may be true that a player doesn’t “need” Spirit Shards. But it still feels really frustrating to remember a time (pre-expansion) when I could get rewards from earning post-80 XP, and to live in a time now where that functionality is back but I am excluded from it for the seemingly arbitrary reason of not having amassed 124 Mastery Points in the expansion areas. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it doesn’t feel great at all either.
Proposed Solutions:
1. If a player has filled all the bars of all their available mastery tracks, but doesn’t have enough mastery points to complete any mastery track, put that player in the same XP-earning state until they have enough mastery points to complete another track. I don’t know how hard this would be to implement.
2. Make a repeatable Mastery track that gives a Spirit Shard for people who have not maxed every mastery so far. It’s a) repeatable, b) free (costs zero mastery points), and c) a workaround. Since this mastery track would always be available, when a player fills up every other mastery line, they will get kicked onto this track, and since the track is repeatable, it will always be available, so players will keep getting kicked to this always-available track when there is nothing else to work toward.
3. A system like the WvW Notary of Heroics/Heroics Notary: spend a token earned from general gameplay to get a “Notarized Scroll of Heroics” that completes one random Hero Challenge. Why isn’t there an equivalent that unlocks Mastery Points? It would let players play the content they enjoy, but get the tools they need to do something fundamental like “earning XP” again. In an MMORPG, gameplay functionality doesn’t get any more basic than “earning XP.”
I like this game overall, but I honestly think a lot of this expansion was designed around preventing reviewers from completing it “too fast,” negatively impacting its review score. I understand that reviews like that can hurt sales, but since this expansion is well past the launch timeframe, we can move past those concerns now. This expansion is almost at its one year anniversary. It could be time to remove these limitations, allowing players to get back to basic things like earning XP. I think that goes with this game’s core philosophy much more than the current system, and that it would be a great change for the game.
Actually they’re just doing what WoW and EQ are doing, because they have to stay competitive. The more barriers to entry you erect for new players, the less new players you get.
If you think not getting more new players is better for veterans, I’m not sure what to tell you.
Why does Lege armor have to be tied to Raids?

I assume it’s because it clips on Revenants, Theifs, and Necros so that’s why it’s only available in Raids?
TC tanking HARD today.
You forgot your /sarcasm tag. TC won 9 out of 12 first place in those skirmishes for that day.
Yeah we were ticking like 150+ when I posted that so sarcasm was intended. It’s funny that people think TC is tanking just because we don’t have the ridiculous JQ SEA numbers.
People may be a bit bored atm or off doing Halloween stuff. Not seeing any actual tanking going on though.
I like the idea. To be honest, it’s a QoL feature that would actually promote more play. There are a bunch of casuals on all servers that would jump in knowing there are commanders out there. Currently most people just check homeBL or EBG and pop out if no leadership.
Also, I think commanders who actively have large squads and contribute to skirmish warscores and overall victory points should get a healthy superior siege reward at the end of each week. Just cause there should be some additional incentives for those who lead to continue to do so, while promoting others to tag up and lighten the load. There are a lot of tags out there who could contribute more to there server, but don’t because they are too shy or lack incentive. It costs a lot of money to lead groups, it shouldn’t… it should at least be some sort of balance so it’s not a net loss to lead.
Spies… gotta deal with them in any way shape or form. If some guy wants to spy in LA and listen, at least they are not taking up a spot in queue. Don’t let spies dictate your play. Just play through them. Each person has there own way to achieve fun, some people are a little demented and choose spying as there fun, who cares. Just go play through it knowing you’ve got fans.
For no particular reason I decided to mock up how I imagined such a thing would look like. The 3 largest groups would be presented (it became 3 due to the size of the other border names, but I didnt do them lol) and the transparent tag is unfilled slots, ie there is no more tags on the border. The name would be hover over info from the center of the hovered tag.
Since the teamchat got merged, there would be a nice feature to avoid “do we have a cmd?” “cmd anywhere?” “WHERES THE kitten FARMFEST??!?”:
If theres a tag on EB for example, just show one blue cmd icon at the WvW-Window where you choose the battleground.
I wouldnt add numbers as in “3x red tag” or list them “Red tag, red tag, red tag” etc, just once as the window might crash if everyone on the BL tags up.
This could be helpful for off-time playing, for example I go online at 9 am and just want to know if we have a tag. I dont need to enter the maps, I can see it from PvE-maps. Also I dont need to ask in the server guild.
What do you think?
Make the WvW tournament rewards permanent, instead of 25 tickets ask 250 badges , 200 tickets ask 2000 badges. Atleast it will give us something to save up for or work on.
As you are aware Anet WvW could use some extra rewards, so instead of throwing away the tournament rewards unlock them.
This is easy to do and will make plenty of people happy.
In the meanwhile you can also add a ascended backpiece maybe
It will be arrow cart that drains gold from your account while you wear it
LGN
make it dolyak backpack like the overstuffed skritt one but bigger
Hi Guys,
everyone got a Legendary backpack. PVE guys got Ad Infinitum, PVP guys got the Ascension, but there are so many WVW Players where only Play wvw. Why they dont get an legendary backpack too?
Ad infinitum has a fractal design.
The Ascension got a glorious design.
Mabye we can get a backpack with a dark design (Dark wings) or something like that.
I hope Anet will think about this.
We want a Backpack too!
Does a keep waypoint really have to be unusable for 3 minutes, because someone sneezes on a guard…Can you please finally change this so a player has to at least kill a guard or do some damage to a keep before the waypoint goes contested. I don’t even mind if white swords pop, but does the waypoint have to be made completely useless for no reason?
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.
