Having no clue is human. I forgive human mistake. What i really can’t understand is why Anet can’t listen to us. We told them so many times, in very well argumented posts, full of passion to improve our game, what ranger needs. And the ranger community very often agrees on certain solutions, that they would really help and at same time not make us overpowered.

Anet a clue for you, if you are clueless yourself, listen to the people with WAAAAAAAAAAAY more playtime then you guys. I know you guys wanna ignore us because casual gameplay is first priority (and we are to hardcore in your books). But at same time, casual players are 95% of time happy no matter how broken something is. We will see the real problems for what they are. I have 8×80 profession, all of them 320+ hours. I played all in wvw (roaming and zerging), dungeons (casual and hardcore), pve, living story, spvp, etc. I don’t like to brag, but here you go, people like me (and rest in this topic), are way more qualified to make statements about professions problems, then you are Anet. It’s time to pull to plug on your own stubborn vision, and insert the communities vision.

Honestly that one takes the proverbial biscuit. If they really honestly thing that the reason people dont like (black) bears is because their F2 cooldown is 5s too long.. then ANet is really beyond all help.

What annoys me is, They seem to have no actual clue why we don’t use certain pets.

Honestly , i knew this was coming as soon as i saw the total lack of interest in the developer preview . When it was ele or guardian , its as if the devs were 2 girls about to get a pony … when it came to ranger , half the time was wasted on trying to find companions defense . LOL

Sic Em should be a normal shout that affects the pet and allies: allies should get fury and might stacks from it or something. The shouts act too much like weak versions of signets. Now, I get what you’re saying about how good reveal can be. I’m just saying, the shouts don’t function very well right now.

Realistically, Protect Me should give AoE stability and regeneration as well as clear 1 condition from allies. Stuff like that would make shouts a lot better and gameplay a lot more fun.

Right now rangers are bland in terms of utilities. The potential is there but the dev team failed to deliver on this patch. I give it a D+ for the inattention to detail and neglect of bug fixes.

I confirm: sic em is bugged. If you press “Sic Em” and then stealth your jaguar, the stealth overrides the sic em buff. So you still have to cast things in the proper order. Really this is a huge problem because it’s not clear to people that this happens. It’s never clearly explained anywhere. You could use this combo and not know that for a while. So, just a warning out there, be sure you don’t cancel if you use it.

Oh GUESS WHAT GUYS.
You can’t even use Sick’Em while the target is hidden, because you can only use it when you have the enemy targeted.
Way to make a useless gimmick. What’s the point of popping it if you can only apply the reveal while the enemy isn’t hidden yet?
Words cannot describe my level of annoyance.

It’s a shout people. Why do I need a target to SHOUT.

speak for yourself please. …unless “we” means your AI pet which I have a lot of trouble believing its capable of such awareness when it can’t even climb up a 1 foot box to lick wounds when you get downed anywhere but flat ground.

Getting teabagged by my pet while I bleed to death on a 15 degree incline was only funny the first time it happened.

So it turns out the sneak peak was all the Ranger class was going to get with the exception of a handful of mediocre pet enhancements that don’t address the problems with the pet.

3 months of nothing for…nothing. Oh well, always next month. When’s the next MMO come out with a Ranger class? ESO should be out soon, right?

I get confused on this whole GvG issue in WvW. Isn’t WvW supposed to be an " organized, large-scale battle", where people who don’t necessarily belong in a large guild can join up into bigger groups and work as a team against others doing the same? How else do you define it?

The issue is the GvG community is looking for fights on relative equal terms, without having to worry about [too much] interference in the form of outsiders jumping in, and people dropping arrow carts everywhere as is want to happen in WvW nowadays.

Do we define WvW as nothing more than a glorified karma train mode now, that will soon contain even less combat other than PvDing towers and keeps that are rarely; if ever, defended? Maybe it should be renamed PvD after this? Where small bands of people on the three servers just camp the map clockwise until they get tired, and wonder what it would be like if there were actual big battles going on around them instead?

Since the introduction of randomized matchups, this is what has been my experience, regardless of guild participation. T1 v any non-kitten beats them with superior arrow cart building ability and coverage. TC vs any non-T1, similar principals apply. As a member of TC, I cannot speak to how WvW operates elsewhere.
So, yes, regardless of the implementation of an “official” GvG mode, WvW == PvD.

Encouraging guilds to break away from WvW is going to be a mistake in the long run for WvW. I can appreciate a guilds desire to have some kind of large scale battle with people they know. But I don’t think it needs to come at the expense of the people who don’t belong in larger guilds. If guilds don’t feel they have satisfying battles in WvW right now, I think that’s a reflection of the issues within the WvW game mode itself, that need to be addressed.

I agree it is a reflection to the game mode, but also larger to the participants. To my knowledge siege-creeping and mono-blobing is more of a phenomenon particular to NA servers. With the league system, things have been getting worse. Even TC is losing guilds and people to T1 servers because they are [tangible] rewards-driven as opposed to looking for enjoyment.

This supposed band-aid might sweep some of the game issues under the rug for a while, but in the end, I think it will just make the game less about a server community, and more the haves and the have nots guild wise, until the whole game mode turns into an empty zone like what happened to the game modes in GW1. Can’t wait to see the worthless outmanned buff even more in the future, and try in vain to fight another higher population server that is spawn camping me into not bothering to play for another week.

Even the most hardcore GvGing guilds spent more time “raiding” in a WvW sense than they spent GvGing. The fact is GvGs take a couple hours at most, and most of the players interested in this sort of play style devote a lot more than a couple hours a week to the game. I do not want to make too harsh of a generalization, and can really only speak for my own experiences and observations.

TL;DR:

WvW does not have the feel of a finished game mode, and has been broken partially due to neglect by developers and partially due to [tangible] rewards-driven play by users. GW2 “GvG” is fun. This was ruined with the implementation of the new orb buff. Allowing GvGers a place to go that does not have these buffs SHOULD appease both sides of the argument. We will no longer “take queue spots” and [hopefully] interference will be limited given our own area.

Greetings,

We’ve recently begun work on finding a reasonable space to accommodate the desires of players in World vs. World who wish to participate in organized, large-scale battles. We have decided to add an area to the Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle that is large enough to fit the fights and is removed from the entrances to facilitate some of the basic rules that are used during these fights. In addition, we will be disabling the borderlands bloodlust buff inside the map so that the players will be on a relatively even playing field. Finally, to make it easier to get to the map, we’ll be adding the map to the dropdown menu of WvW maps, allowing you to enter it from anywhere in the game. The space being added is really amazing and I think you are all going to enjoy battling it out in there if it is your preferred way to play. We decided to put this area in the jumping puzzle with the hopes of providing a space for people who wish to play the game this way to be able to do so without causing friction between them and other players who wish to focus on the other aspects of the game in WvW.
Guild vs. Guild is a gametype that has a lot of potential and one that we would never do anything but the best possible version of. That version, if it comes, will have to wait until the resources are available to build it. This change is an attempt to provide a workable solution in a timely manner, one that will ease some of the conflict that we have seen arise on the forums and in the game. WvW is an incredibly successful and engaging part of our game. It will continue to be a major focus for us as a studio and we will continue to put our effort into changes that are in the best interests of WvW as a gametype and the WvW community as a whole.
As is our practice, we won’t be releasing this until it is ready to go.

Could we please stop bashing XxX and keep this thread a bit civil at least?

As for the cheater comment by Nemesys, Gandara sorted that out and our community doesn’t really want to be associated with Plox any longer.
As far as I know, he’s banned from our community website and we are using another community TeamSpeak now, we stopped using Plox’ TeamSpeak.

So please don’t judge Gandara on the actions of one player.

On topic:
Desolation, glad to see you’re still hitting really kitten reset night. Especially [PT] (I believe), nice fights from you guys in EBG. Glad to see you guys are recovering from the exodus from some of your guilds and attacks on your community services (TS/Website).
Underworld, I had some nice roaming action versus some of your players. While you might not be able to compete with numbers, glad to find really skillfull players there as well.

we are still on uw but we are leaving in few day,we are just trying to figure out where to go,ty for the evening the start was really too much blobby we tryed to gather all the pug on eb to handle that but was really impossible,deso and gandara got the queue for eb for sure.

Ps:UW is alrdy in bronze league,so we cant stay there and is the only reason for that.

Let’s hope rangers even come up at all. They have a lovely precedent of not even mentioning us.

Oh, we are, they’re nerfing Water Field, its OP in certain situations.

Kind of a buff too, since it pulses more frequently.

yeah, the waterfield change goes both ways. Its more powerful in small groups, less powerful with zergs. Either way, i dont care how this patch goes. I started with a ranger, and i will stick with my ranger no matter how lousy and useless it becomes. Because no matter how bad rangers may seem, there is always a build, or some tweaking that makes it shine.
