Guildmaster of [CORE] Company of the Red Elite
The WvW players who disagree with GvG are correct when they say you are taking up que spots, regardless if you’re just taking them up on an empty map.
What??
I….. what?
I still can’t believe the developers of a game called “guild wars” would try so hard to stop there from being actual guild wars.
it’s like making a game called world war 2 and forcing you to stay in afghanistan for the entire duration of the war, its pointless
To me the most insulting thing is the attitude.
“I made this mode i decide how you play.”
Pathetic.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
It’s an organized fight. Nothing has been SOLD and therefore it’s not kill SELLING.
That is of course a matter of opinion. It can technically be considered selling.
But I suppose trading would be a better word, which would also be against the ToS.
No… if nothing is being sold, it’s not selling. No agreement was made to give X kills to either side. Nothing is being traded. It’s not trading. It’s not an opinion. It’s not selling or trading because of the very definitions of those words.

game dev company I used to know fired one of their best because some idiot player reported him saying something that could’ve been interpreted wrong. After watching this video…
wtf
Anet, whoever this guy is, he just seriously damaged your company’s rep. I’m not saying anything, I’m just saying.
[VII] Seventh Legion | http://twitch.tv/censtudios
Lordkrall, do you honesty believe that Anet is somehow unaware of GvG and dueling? There were no bans that were going to take place here because of the activity.
Get a grip.
Of course they are not unaware.
They have even stated that they will not be supported in WvW, and maybe their way of solving the spam about GvG in every single thread/stream/interview is to start threatening with bans?
I urge you to use logic, it’s your friend.
Do you honestly believe that a company, is going to decide that a type of activity that hundreds, if not thousands of players actively play or watch, is suddenly against the rules, without telling anybody? No announcement? Just some guy on an ego trip threatening a single group?
Think. Use your mind.
some people don’t seem to understand why people are mad at what the dev did. interrupting the gvg isn’t against any rules, it may make you a kitten, but he has the same right to do it as gvgers have the right to gvg.
it’s the fact that when people got aggressive towards him telling him to stop ruining the gvg, he popped up his ANET tag as if it should mean something. i expected this sort of behavior out in the playground, “my dad can beat up your dad” and other similar kitten waving.
this should have just been another random pubbie trolling a gvg, it’s old news, nobody had to know, but no, today we finally see what kind of people are under the employ of anet.
This is… Really unprofessional and just disheartening honestly. Has anybody posted about this in the general forums? This really isn’t just a WvW issue, it’s an issue with Anet staff and how they think they can treat customers.
This needs to be addressed by a dev.
Maybe someone from Anet will explain us what title of that game mean, for me is exactly guild vs guild. Guilds fight each other not for points but for challenge and as long Anet fail provide tool to do this outside WvW GvG will keep going how is now if any one like it or not and that include that Dev troll.
Don’t blame GvG for taking slots in queue blame Anet for fail queue system, for cap on maps or for not provide more maps as WvW community demand.
This is Guild Wars and no one else like guilds by self will set up terms how that war will be going on.
What next maybe we will get warning for fail babysitting Doylak once a day
Most pathetic in this after all is putting Dev tag up to show I’m the Boss
So now guys finish that shiet and go order some upgrades!

Having read all of the post so far I must say that I can understand both sides of the coin. The WvW players who disagree with GvG are correct when they say you are taking up que spots, regardless if you’re just taking them up on an empty map. On the flip side, doing GvG on an empty map late in the week isn’t going to hurt anyone because in most situations the match is decided around early Thursday anyway.
I myself don’t have an issue with GvG. I don’t particularly care for it, but there are a lot of players who do and Anet should really consider that and give them a way to do it. I doubt they will tho because rather than listening to the players, they just implement things like bloodlust and do nothing to change the outmanned buff. Although I will give them credit they did at least change the name of it to outnumbered.
As far as what happened in the above pictures and video with the Dev, what he did may have been unprofessional and it was a huge mistake but the bottom line is both parties were griefing each other to an extent. The players trying to GvG are right in saying he was interrupting their GvG, but at the same time, they are all their taking up que spots and adding nothing to the actual game of WvW, regardless if it matters or not. I’m not trying to be on either side of the argument here. I’m just trying to point out that both sides have valid points.
Well, even if I don’t really agree with the way he did it, he does have a point.
Technically GvG could be seen as breaking the ToS via “kill-selling”.
Then he should ban people and hand out warnings in a professional matter with the power of the company behind him, instead of thinking he’s funny while representing ANet.
My name’s in purple. This made our gvg a lot more complicated than it should have been. We had a great time fighting TE, and now this is just spinning out of control. You know this is how we want to play, how we practice to play… let us get better without shunning us or saying we’re violating the TOS. If anything, we’ll bring a lot more attention to your product than spvp.
Really appalling behavior shown here by this person that represents Anet. Unbelievable.
+1 for visibility.
Players could have been less obscene, however (and more importantly) said developer(game tester?) clearly did not need to troll said players. There are hopefully far more productive ways for a developer(game tester?) to voice their respective opinion than trolling random GvGs.
I would like to add that I think blaming guilds for creating/participating in a self styled “game mode”(GvGs) that allows FAR more build flexibility and open field combat than PVP is simply ridiculous.
Give the players a place to participate in GvGs and they will GLADLY leave the WvW queues. It would simply require the build flexibility and open field mapping of WvW.
ANET could probably even charge gems (while offering no form of reward or progression) and still find separate zoning for GvGs to be a successful “fix”.

LMAO this is golden!.
22mins in the video. Standing there in middle of field clearly trying to troll, hoping they would say get out the way. Ensue guys telling him which is clearly what he wanted the reason he was there in first place. Then get mad? from the drama you wanted and try to act big man with anet tag.
This is just classic comedy material your giving away.
if carlsberg played Guardian.

Wow!
If I were there and he said “I’m watching you guys violate my game mode”, I would’ve sooo said “since when do you care?” He wouldn’t need to come there and complain about how we “ruin” his game mode if he paid more attention to WvW and actually did stuff the players are interested in. You don’t have to do everything we want, but come on.
Seriously you GvG guys are getting kitten annoying lately. You are constantly crying in
every stream, every third forum post, every post about bloodlust and now you can’t
handle an A-Net Dev who simply was standing around you and was watching you?
And all that for something you should have known prior to the game that it won’t
be included any time soon. Shouldn’t you try and polish your own image a little?
If this keeps on, GvG might really become a banable offense, and I doubt you would
like that, but this way I can imagine that the devs are fed up with this scene.
If you look at the screenshots you would know that he wasn’t just “standing around and watching”…
I hope it’s all a joke or some odd mistake, because it’s really weird to see a dev act like that when theres already heated discussions about gvg/wvw on the forums. It makes them seem delusional/ignorant/stuck-in-their-own-bubble (just keeping it real)

Cmon ANet guy, you’re doing it wrong.
You’re suppose to build a treb in the camp and fire it into the GvG. Dudes can’t even troll properly, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Now, i don’t know if are more sad Anet devs acting that way or player actually tinking that PPT are all that matters and blame GvGers for having fun, fighting and wasting their spots in the zoneblob.

Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
Bunch of whining kids who think they are entitled to everything , nothing has changed. G v G ruins wvw for others and the spots taken by the guilds couldve been used by others to attack the enemies cohesively.
Exactly.
I don’t see what the dev did wrong, you ARE ruining his game mode. Players there should be there for wvw. Its one thing to play the game how you want, and another thing to deprive other players the opportunity to play the game as it was intended.
If these guys are indeed violating his game mode (lol), and are breaking the ToS, then they should be banned rather than having to endure this lame dev coming in and trolling them.
Fort Aspenwood
If this is an employee, then there is no way they should allow this. Completely unprofessional, and makes them look silly. I want to see the video.
Anet, your voilating ’’my’’ game mode with your Bloodlust.
I don’t GvG, and to be honest, I wish you guys took your fights somewhere else.
But, as you have nowhere to go, I accept that you are going to be on the WvW map.
I consider that chat log to be completely unacceptable, and I am hoping for a rapid developer response.
This could bite ANET quite badly if it makes more people like me (who don’t want you in WvW) rally behind you.
… again
Appalling actions by anet
He should lose his job
And a public formal apology should be made to those players present.
Someone who was there needs to goto a gaming news site with those

there are no queues on those 3 servers.
they arent taking up spots that would otherwise be filled.
they are playing in an area that is out of the way of any normal pathing you would take to any objective or pve event.
(hell, they would probably help any uplevel get the nearby skill point)
shoo fly
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
“I’m watching you guys violate my game mode”
That’s the problem. They don’t give a kitten about the community and they certainly don’t respect it either. WvW isn’t for the players, it’s for the Devs. But since they made it, they might as well let us play, I guess.
Eventually, the Devs are going to wonder where everyone went and I’ll be here to link them to this picture album. It’s hard to maintain a playerbase when you act like this.
I can defend anet for many things, but this was seriously unprofessional. in WvW, as long as you are fighting and killing people from the other servers, you are participating in the “game mode.”
Plus, the reality is, we paid for this game. We play the game how we want to. No one was botting, hacking, or cheating.
The dude was seriously out of line, and needs to work on his customer service skills.
Hmm what did say at the eurogamer expo? Oh yeah, this:
"Q: Thoughts on PvP and Guild vs Guild? A: We know there is a loud community for GvG and for PvP features. We want to support you guys and always listening"
*cough*
This is hilarious. Me thinks someone had a little bit too much to drink at last nights Anet office party.
Generally though, why you would want to actively discourage and criticise GvGs? They are organised community events just like any other and therefore Anet should be publicising and supporting them as fully as anything else. All this anti-GvG stuff just comes across as bitter and mean spirited.
