5/3/2 instead of 5/3/1 was the intervention. that and reducing the tournament to only 4 weeks. these 2 changes make repeat matchups less likely (but still possible).
ArenaNet’s claim was only that repeats would be reduced, not that they would be completely eliminated (at least, after clarification that’s what it was).
under the old scoring, coming in first then third was worth the same number of points as coming in second twice (5+1 = 3+3). this led to a situation very similar to WULD (winner up loser down) matchmaking, which naturally leads to repeats.

lets make this thread 4+ pages so anet might think its worth noticing
op, do you mind quoting hamster in the op for clarity? or something.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
Mortars are used by the Asura to insert said asura and fling them onto the other side of the enemy for ambush techniques.
hehehe, thx for the hint I’ll try it next time I WvW

The flappy ears give them an accelerated trajectory.
so can ANET clarify whether the final week will still follow the Swiss system, or there will be some intervention ?

I’ll bet that in 6 months time nothing will have changed.
I won’t be posting estimated probabilities during tournament season 3 because during tournament play, there is no randomness involved.

So ballistas are finally useful…
I never played DAOC, but we often see people holding it up as the best example of large scale MMO PvP.
In its prime, how did DAOC deal with imbalances in population and coverage between its factions?
Are there any lessons there that might be useful for GW2?
Tried fiery rush on the Bloodstone in Arah pt4 last night. With ~20 stack mights, solo build full zerk warrior, I got 3 ticks each dealing ~400 damage. I think I can just as well fight naked.
by request, I’m posting estimated probabilities for the upcoming matchups in this thread also. these numbers are based on the currently predicted ratings (which are in turn based on the current scores), but if the actual end-of-match ratings differ significantly, that will throw the numbers off.
the “na1” and “eu1” files have probabilities of getting a particular server as an opponent, while the “na2” and “eu2” files have probabilities of getting specific pairs of servers as opponents.

Id love an APP that tracks the HP of every member of your squad, With boons etc.
You mean like a proper raid UI like every other MMO in the past 15 years?

If you want to camp one element at all times, you’re not getting the point of ele’s. In fact that’s what other classes do.
And I agree with Fuzzion.
When a gaming company calls colored commander tags “big changes,” it’s pretty obvious what the problem is.
Because Season 2 was a major success.
Because Season 1 was a major success.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to clarify that we did indeed change our plans based on your feedback. What was said during the interviews at Gamescom was correct at the time but after listening to what you had to say we decided to make a change to the feature be in line with what you felt was a more balanced approach to the change.
Thank you very much for your feedback and we hope that you enjoy this upcoming change.
Thanks,
John
Good idea. We’re excited™ to announce that the Server Chat Tab Unlock is now available at the gem store for 1200 gems!
Server Chat Tab Unlocks are server-bound, and must be repurchased if you decide to transfer to another server.
We’re looking forward to seeing all of the exciting™ things that the community does with this exciting™ new feature!
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.
Good idea. We’re excited to announce that it will be 800 gems for a WvW Defcon System 2 week pass, and 3600 gems for a permanent pass.

Anet, masters of imbalance and breaking down their own game.

Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
> “grandmaster traits that currently don’t have enough of a payoff or are too difficult to use”
“too difficult to use” or “impractical and poorly designed”? They go on about build diversity when at the same time we are forced into go deep into water and arcana since all of the other GMs are so terrible.
It’s jimmy’s fault, cause you know… He’s in a wheelchair!
Jokes aside, we used fgs 2 years ago, how is it a problem today o.O.

It became a problem when talented PvE people had enough of the boring content and started going into PvP. They brought the FGS with them, and they destroyed Foefire’s Guild Lords in seconds. Anet balances for PvP so they had to balance this.
So the origin of the problem is the content-rid boring PvE
