…introducing new characters, and then killing them off instantly…
The time players spend with Lionguard Apatia is brief, but it’s clear from the existence of this thread that people still did manage to care about these characters. We did not silently sit by as this plot was removed (whether or not the removal was intentional).
The loss of Apatia or the others is a part of the lives and stories of our characters. It is one of if not the only mistake our characters are able to make in the story. Without ever making mistakes, our characters are flat and not believable.
That’s not even mentioning that the fact that everything is out of order, and that the removal of Greatest Fear is a big part of that. That makes the story incomprehensible as well as not believable.
The plot of chapters 7 and 8 remain mixed up. You get references to events that no longer happened, reunions with people you haven’t met, revelations to mysteries that haven’t been introduced.
This NEEDS to be fixed.
I can’t imagine how they could not want to fix this.

It’s a mess. Worse, it’s obvious when you play these chapters. And yet this thread is a month old and nothing has happened.
Clearly it was okay to alter the plot without confirming it still made sense. Clearly it’s not a high priority fix, if it’s even on the list of things to fix.
Conclusion: The plot just doesn’t matter much.
Okay, so maybe I can imagine how they could not want to fix this, but I can’t bring myself to think this is really where we are with the game now.
Hey there, dear communications team, any stick for us to gnaw on?
I really feel like this thread is a prime example of how saying even just a little would temper our expectations. If we were told “Greatest Fear isn’t coming back because it was too sad/because we had to mirror China/because it was too confusing(lol)” then we’d be upset but eventually we’d put on our sunglasses and “deal with it” I guess.
If you’re going for some kind of Tarantino-style “we meet again” and then later “nice to meet you” time-twisted storytelling, let us know that (hey, I love his movies after all)! Right now the story doesn’t make it clear that that’s your intention though, and it’s really confusing…
But right now, everyone in this thread is speculating and guessing and hoping that this is on your radar, that you are aware of it, and that the Greatest Fear removal is one of the “Plot holes and story inconsistencies that may have been introduced with story realignment” you mentioned here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Changes-Coming-to-the-NPE/first
If your thinking is that “it is obvious” whether or not this is included in that, then please humor us by letting us know which, because we can’t tell anymore.
And if you’re not sure what to do about it, let us know that it’s a really tough issue for you guys and that you’re not sure how best to proceed. I have to say that I think the suggestions other users in this thread have been excellent ideas though and might be a great place to start. I’m a fan of adding as many Level 80 chapters as you need to the end of the story myself. It shows that the game doesn’t end at level 80, rather that level 80 is just the beginning of your character’s epic struggle and journey.
I really love Guild Wars 2. I said it at the start of this thread and have maintained faith and loyalty to you guys throughout. I cannot believe as some users suggest that this is the end, but the silence makes it so disheartening and makes it harder and harder to think anything else other than that…
…please consider revising your policy of silence (in general). It does well against the “omg broken promises” crowd (which could also be solved by a simple blanket disclaimer) but does more harm than good toward reasonable fans like the ones in this thread.
Thank you,
A concerned fan

So sad.
