I cried when I heard they had cut this. I refuse to log in until the PS is fixed, and I will continue to talk about it on the forums until I get an answer from the devs. I mean, what even possessed them to get rid of it?

They also rearranged the core plot steps towards the end. Now you do the Source of Orr and kill the Sovereign Eye early on, then you go to the Temple of Abaddon and discover that Eyes of Zhaitan exist…

They screwed up the personal story in Orr in yet more ways, sadly not just removing the greatest fear storylines.

I made a similar mistake – I had a character near the end of the saboteur branch of this arc, and decided to wait for the patch. Now it’s locked and, if I understand things, I won’t be coming back to it.

Shouldn’t there be a warning in the patch notes: if you are doing this arc your progress will be wiped out

You travel into a land that has had all hope stripped from it. There, a new “vision” is manifest. It is a land of fear, and with that weapon, darkness will strike at your heart. What do you fear?

Answer 1: I have always been afraid that already-finished content would be removed. That characters I cared about would disappear, and that I couldn’t save them.

Response 1: You are a good person. That you seek to protect these characters shows your gentle heart. Hold fast to that earnestness; it will also be your strength.

Answer 2: My greatest fear is that all of the story that shows that my character is fallible would be removed; a failure so grievous that it would cause the loss of the respect of my comrades. That it would disappoint my companions and become a source of dishonor.

Response 2: It is good to hold oneself in high regard, but better to remember that a hero who is always perfect is shallow and two-dimensional. Keep this in mind, or you will find yourself alone.

Answer 3: I worry that my duties will cause me to continue to watch something I truly care about be condemned to agony. Knowing that I’d been unable to voice my concern sooner because I did not know what was coming would be more than I could bear.

Response 3: Your heart is courageous but also kind. Hold fast to that, and remember that mistakes can be repaired, if you are strong enough to face them.

I need some time to consider my answer, Mother Tree. Give me a moment to reflect.

Thank you, Pale Tree. I will remember your wisdom.

RIP Lionguard Apatia: We knew we would lose you, but never thought it would be like this.

Please bring back the Personal Story plot points that have been removed. They are an already-finished product (an already-invested production cost) and I felt like these were the most important moments in my character’s life. Seeing them gone from my character’s Story Journal in the Hero Panel makes me feel like a part of their history is gone. And when I read that the Feature Pack would make story “more compelling” I waited to continue story on alts who had not yet finished it. Now I feel like I should have rushed them through before the update, as now they will never get to meet the characters who I thought were most important to my story.

Yeah, I’m in the same situation. I deleted the basic version since I had no bank space left at the time, but kept the flaming version (which had better stats). I honestly feel that if you have the flaming version, the basic version should also be unlocked for you. While it isn’t a direct skin progression, in order to get the flaming version, you HAD to have completed the quest that gave you the basic version, meaning you had it at one point.

But as mentioned above, I’d be OK with ANet just giving us a way to get the skins again this Halloween.

While sad, that is less tragic than the Captain’s Airship Pass. Any young Quaggan discovered logging in there is summarily hurled over the side and has to endure an entire extra loading screen as he falls to his death.

On a serious note it does seem odd to be kicked out even if you have the pass. Perhaps if they make it a passive thing instead of an item in your inventory?

I can say it brought me much jubilation to see the second photo.

It was only a matter of time before that unhinged sociopath – the Royal Terrace ‘Greeter’ – inflicted a blow so forceful that it killed someone… a child no less!

This NPC has wrought terror for long enough. It’s time for Anet to accept responsibility and be held accountable for employing this thug and murderer.

….

But on a more serious note, do we really have to be jettisoned from the Royal Terrace everytime when logging in. Can’t having the royal terrace in our inventory be enough to allow access?

Here’s the thing…..it isn’t failing.

It didn’t fail with the uproar over Ascended, “Anet is turning GW2 into a WoW clone!!!”.

It didn’t fail because of the Living World/Story.

It didn’t fail with the umpteenth balance patch to (insert profession here).

They read the forums, they institute changes (not always logical changes, granted), they actively ask for our feedback. Believe it or not, they care about the game more than we do.

I’m not saying not to give feedback. Be constructive, realistic, clear, and concise.

This one is a bit of of left-field, but just bear with me on this.

In my mind at least, there comes a time when you can only bear to look upon so much negativity and angst upon a certain entity (Anet’s policy being the case).

What would happen if the forums suddenly went silent?

Would Anet even bat an eyelid at the very thought of no one piking up at the first minor concern about the game? I’d guess they would have less to worry about because no one would be complaining. Would it be presumptuous that an inverse-logic would take place and that all was right in GW2? I see over 1300 pages in the General Discussion forum alone, and I guarantee 95% of it is complaining, ideas gone by the wayside or just toxic backlash based on something wrong with the game.

But in my mind, that’s the very crux of the problem — this is why we post on these forums, because we care about the game, where Anet (or indeed, its policy) seemingly does not care about its players.

We want it to be as good as it can possibly be; we want to get excited about something that’s coming up, something that we’ve been looking forward to, not just what the devs think is what we want, only to have us whinge about how it was all done wrong and that they should have talked to us (be more transparent) in the first instance.

We don’t want to see the game fail. But I feel this is the direction it’s heading, the less we know about what’s in the works. I don’t understand Anet’s “mushroom” policy (being kept in the dark and fed on sh*t); it doesn’t help them, it doesn’t work for me or indeed any of us players in the long run.

It does make me think, however… since their hands are so bound by the very ‘red tape’ their policy has created, that they can’t talk about anything in the works… what would happen if they were stonewalled in return? If we told them nothing about the game, would they incorrectly assume everything was hunky-dory?

But we know this isn’t the case. We only voice ourselves because we care and want to see this game become something much better than it currently is – something it was destined to be but just isn’t.

Communication is reciprocal. You made a game for us, we play it. We find something wrong with it, we tell you. You tell us it’ll be fixed. It never gets fixed. More of these problems add up, the same “we’ll fix it and then release a big patch” attitude comes along, where you’ve not fixed the problem but made it worse. Time goes by, the fix still isn’t in and people are getting antsy about the progress of the game. What will be fixed? What will be added? Where’s the content? And we find ourselves exactly where we are right now, where this stagnancy has amounted to nothing more than mockery, contempt and seething toxicity. Fair dues, I applaud your recent efforts of communication, but we’re still no further along the lines of proper communication (again, the policy).

So again, I ask you, what would happen if we told you nothing about what we experience in the game?

Walk a mile in our shoes.

Thoughts?

i think the issue with this is that a LOT of people will transmute their default armors into swimsuits. Imagine running Tequalt with half the zerg in swimsuits lol..when you put it that way, its quite fitting since the fight does take place on a beach but imagine doing jormag with swimsuits

How is that any different than fighting in a hot humid jungle while wearing a trenchcoat?

Exactly. MMORPG’s aren’t made for reality. If I had a dollar for everytime someone said ‘but this wouldn’t happen in the real world!’ or something along those lines… I would be able to afford a legendary. Seriously. This is a game people – of course you wouldn’t see people fighting almost nekkid.

Another Swimsuit Request!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaoda.1653

With regards to the thread, maybe they could come up with some kind of OUTFITS for swimwear that only appear when you go underwater (like the aquabreather does). You would THINK that that would please both sides of this issue. Nothing immersion-breaking or unnatural about a bikini underwater, right? Well… until you go underwater in Frostgorge Sound…

AQUABREATHERS! THERE’S a “real” issue… they really need higher quality aquabreathers in the game… and a checkbox to conceal them, just like normal headgear.

I can understand that some see swimsuits as immersionbreaking. But I rather want to see someone fighting in frostgorge just with a bikini than no bikinis whatsoever.

Regarding Underwaterbreather, I think they should merge the breather with the normal headgear.

More options are always better than less, imo!

Don’t forget an option to dye our underwater helms. Man that annoys me so much we can’t do this. It ruins my whole outfit :-(

Please bring Tribal Armor to PVE.

Zaoda.1653

I wish Anet would bring this armor set back, and not just for PvP either. Remember at the start of GW2 they said they want players to ‘play the way you want’? I do. And it was the biggest lie ever made, because the reality is, we CAN’T play the way we want.

Want that armor that only PvP can give? Tough luck for you.

It shouldn’t be like this. Players need alternative ways to obtaining said gear through a means that THEY like. For me, it’s WvW, for others, it might be PvE. Anet shouldn’t punish players simply because they don’t like that content. There needs to be other ways of getting things but in a way they find it enjoyable too. Anet needs to live up to that phrase ‘play the way you want’.

I Gave Up On This Game Am I Wrong?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaoda.1653

I miss many of the skills from GW1. Many of the necromancer skills… Ray of Judgment… The Ritualist (my favourite profession OF ALL TIME)

I wish Anet would integrate some of the GW1 aspects that worked well, into GW2.

I remember first hearing about GW2 and the combat system and my initial thought was ‘oh hells naw. Guess I’m not buying that’, because it showed a dev talking about how you could control where to place spells and such, and I, well, am not good at PvP, let alone good at being so click-heavy when it comes to combat.

But I got used to placing spells manually on the ground and all that, and ultimately found myself enjoying it more than GW1’s stay-in-one-spot-while-casting-your-spells combat.

I must say I like GW2’s manual-style combat, but not so much the variety in spells and traits. For example, I don’t really like the GW2’s necro spells and traits (except the ‘fear’ condition – that’s A LOT of fun!), but loved the GW1 necro’s spells and traits (like soul reaping, I loved getting healed whenever a person died around me for example. I REALLY miss that).
