Bring back Mad Memoires + Toymaker’s Bag

Neither the Toymaker’s Bag nor Mad Memoires (complete or otherwise) are in the unlock.

Should every skin be available to everyone? I’m not convinced. It’s a reasonable request, to be sure. All the same, I like the idea that a tiny number of skins depend on having been around at the right time & place — like being a “founding member” of a club, it offers a certain amount of warm fuzzies. (I was sad when GW1 gave up that idea, since I enjoyed being able to tell who was a long-time player from the Halloween or Wintersday caps they wore, even though it meant I wasn’t able to acquire them.)

I think this practice is only okay, so long as the number of such skins is very small and opportunities to acquire new “limited edition” skins are available to newbies. To date, the first requirement is met (I think there are less than half a dozen of these), but ANet hasn’t made any similar ones available recently.

I agree that there should be a few skins that are of this nature (ie only available once), but the number should be small. They should be reserved for pretty large events, such as being a beta tester, having an account from day 1, playing through LWS1 when it was available, beta testing HoT. Stuff like that.

I don’t know if I can consider Mad Memories to be one of those skins because it was an event skin that you received through an annual event (even though it was only released once). If each Halloween came with its own unique skin then I would be perfectly fine with Mad Memories not being available again. I think part of the reason that people want it back is because it was implied that it would come back every year due to being tied to an annual event, and yet it hasn’t with no explanation from ANet.

That wasn’t an anual event, was a year specific quest or mission you had to complete at that time to get the skin. It must remain exclusive to people who were there at the time. It was fun, it was hard and special.
Please don’t bring that skin ever again. It’s one of the few time specific skins we have in all GW2.

I purchased gems last night in the middle of all the chaos happening (which was no fault of anet being the one getting attacked) and support brought their A-game as always and fixed me right up! I love Anets support team! If I could buy them all a pizza I would!

  • The entire map is HIGHLY dependent on large group content. From the camp capture to the karka queen, there is very little you can do on your own or even with smaller groups. Unfortunately, there is also little incentive to do anything on Southsun, leading to a downward spiral where these days none of the events get done.

You can solo all the events, unless they spawn a champ. Maybe you should consider changing your build and / or learn the basics of this game (dodging, using combo fields, crowd controlling, etc).

  • Even moving around the map in general needs groups. The enemies and enemy distributions are tuned for large groups, meaning that single players, if they can survive at all, can’t actually engage or farm, but just have to run past everything.

You can pull ennemies. Or fight several of them at once (see the advice above). Or, indeed, run past them, just like in any other map.

  • Karka in particular are enemies that are designed for group engagements; a single person cannot in general reasonably engage a full-size Karka in a reasonable amount of time, and the density of them easily leads to inadvertently aggroing multiples. We even see this on Ember Bay, where the Karka beach is avoided completely except for events.

Indeed, the Karka vets are tough, but that’s what’s good about them. That being said, over-aggroing seems to be a recuring issue there – maybe you should work on that and start paying extra attention to the positionning of your character.

  • The map is perpetually contested, because no one is doing the events, meaning you can only reliably access 1 or 2 of the waypoints.

There are at least 3 WP that are never contested. 3 out of 6. 50%.

  • The guild content on the map, particularly the race, is considered so onerous (again, due to the lack of the map being populated and cleared) that most guilds won’t bother doing it, instead opting to forego the guild credit for that week. Not helped by all transportation being rerouted to the main encampment due, again, to the constant state of contestation of most of the waypoints.

Again, wrong. It doesn’t take long at all to go from Pearl Islet to the race starting point. Or you can also start from Lion Point (never contested either). And yes, this race is harder. That’s why the reward is larger.

  • The jumping puzzle is generally considered the worst in the game, and is often intentionally avoided, even when it is a daily.

That’s the only JP I used to do every day when I was still farming Blooming Parsifloras. Once you know it, it’s a really easy one (there’s even a big shortcut). Several times I have offered in chat to show people how to do it, no one took my offer except once. And I’m pretty sure I can teach anyone. It’s like your other critics – I’m pretty sure the main issue isn’t IG but between the keyboard and the chair.

  • There is absolutely no story connection to any other part of the game. No active story content has anything to do with it, nor will any likely have anything to do with it in the future, and none of the content on the island creates any compelling reason to visit or return.

Actually, at least one current event takes place in SC. And the consortium having an important role in the current story, maybe we will see more action there in the future.

  • The map has insufficient rewards for the level of effort it demands. Even karka trains, once a thing, have mostly fallen apart as the one reward that could attract people, Karka Shells, is just not sufficient.

Karka shells are required for legendary collections. That alone makes them good enough as a reward.

  • Southsun is not needed for world completion or Legendaries, and doesn’t even provide the possibility of a Black Lion Key, since it is the only map, other than cities, guaranteed to give a Transmutation Charge, and unlike cities you don’t need it for something else.

Southsun IS needed for legendaries. All the collections require 100 Karka shells, and several scavenger hunts take place in Southsun (Chuka and Champawat for instance).

If you don’t like South Sun, then don’t go — play the parts of GW2 that you like.

Don’t ask the content to be removed simply because you don’t like it. Other people still play it.

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

I love Soutshun from the day it was introduced. It was the first kick in the teeth of the Berserk Meta as a quick takedown of a karka veteran is not possible and you get your damage dealt back to you quickly. Combine that with low HP and you already got a recipe for people dying from their own damage.^^

I cannot agree more. I want darker nights + increased glow effects soooo bad. I understand why some might not like it, so there would have to be a check-able option. Still, it would make the game even more amazing than it already is.

I think nights should stay shorter than day, but they should be much more noticeable: Overall darker, with a true night sky, much more dimmed ambient light, and way stronger “glow in the dark” effects.

And nocturnal mobs with eyes that glint in the shadows. . .

Why day and night has not the same length?

I think Tyria is so much more Beauty at night.

Also all legendary weapons with day night cycle are more in day Modus, then night..

Is it so hard to Change this?

I have no issue with these requests. I’m especially in favor of zoom. But holding weapons like your character would actually hold weapons is good. I would also like to be able to preview both weapon slots at the same time.

Hello.

I feel like the preview panel could use some updates because it seems lacking in what we can actually preview.

Things I’d like to see change:

1. Make the panel bigger and add a zoom in/out function.
2. Put in a preview-mode for wielding weapons the proper way; and not like a Greatsword sticking out awkwardly that you can’t even see how you will hold it on your character.
3. Put in a preview-mode for equipping armors and wielding weapons while your character is doing the running/walking animation. (or even sitting, dancing.. you name it)
4. Connect the preview panel directly to your personal/bank wardrobe and also your dye panel so you can select anything easily.

If anyone else has any ideas or suggestions then feel free to post them below! o/

The Booster was replaced by the 10% chance of a wardrobe unlock. The 10 week/year festival item was replaced by a 52 week/year seasonal item.

(Or you can look at it as the other way around — I choose not to because it seems to make a lot of people cranky about BL chests, which are never going to be more than a Bag o’ Junk )

Could Core Tyria Be made to be more challenging?

Yes, it could. The real question however is, why should it?

For example, I remember, way back when, that we had a series of champions to defeat in Queensdale. The content was brilliant in design, even requiring cooperative play amongst people in the zone, and it even had a title: The Queensdale Champ Train.
But the most important part of those events was that they posed a significant threat… we simply had to learn our characters’ abilities, and we had to learn to work as a team.. and we had to look out for each other, and yes, they were quite difficult!

You might be remembering wrong. All of those champs were soloable even then, long before power creep from HoT arrived.

How… then, could we make Core Tyria harder?

There are a multitude of ways, from just straight scaling up the stats, through boss/event mechanic reworks, to introducing completely new elements.
It still doesn’t answer the more important question hiding behind it, one that you just assumed you know the answer for. The question of whether we even should make it harder. And seeing the general reaction to HoT, it seems that the answer is, not really.

Now, it might be a good idea to make them more interesting and engaging (which is not the same as "harder). Unfortunately, that is both more difficult and requires way more effort on Anet’s part, so i doubt they will ever do that to already existing areas.

Actions, not words.

Core Tyria could be harder if you simply remove a few pieces of armor when you fight
and leave it the way it is for the large group of players that like it as it is.

You flew into how to change it and blew right past if it should be changed. There are plenty of other harder games to play, for free. Core Tyria stands as the single best example of successfully designed cooperative PvE in a non sandbox mmorg, in the industry. Why would they mess with it after evaluating HoT’s results?

PvP wants better players. So does WvW and Raids and Fractals and Dungeons, but I believe the area specific skills needed should be learned in those specific areas.
How many players have exactly the same opinion of how the game should be changed? Isn’t the game better off if we keep something for everyone?

I guess people are still dazed or simply too many people have left

The tried harder content it was called HoT and the earnings report right now is so bad thta even Aion is doing better than us and HoT cut their earning in half. At this point people like TC asking for harder content are trying to kill the game right out. Esports and flipping the core design philosophy to a more hardcore one bleed profits like nothing else and yet people are still trying to go for harder content in order to put this poor game out of it’s misery.

You can’t have hardcore content without trinity and this game wasn’t designed with trinity in mind and thus wasn’t designed for hardcore content.

There already are maps that present greater challenge, those intended for level 80’s. So why would the “level up” maps need to be made more challenging? I imagine everything new at this point will be level 80, so your choices will just keep growing.

Also, as the game expands, the playerbase will naturally get thinned out. At the time of this posting, there is another thread complaining that not enough players are in Southsun. Recently, there was a post about not enough players to do bandit champions. I don’t think we want more challenging content added if the players will be gravitating towards newer, shinier maps.

You have very different memories of the Queensdale champion train to me. The only challenge involved was trying to do enough damage to get credit in the time between other players deciding people were permitted to attack the champion and it dying.

And of course putting up with the torrent of abuse if anyone dared to attack a champion “out of order”. (Which is why they were removed – new players introduction to the game was getting abuse from players if they started an event without a zerg present and being told the “end game” was being part of that zerg, which unsurprisingly tended to put them off.)

You weren’t made Commander because of how seriously you took yourself, but to save the world…

“Excuse me, I know there are dragons to kill but I’m going to spend a lot of time and money to get a Quaggen in a Bowl toy for myself.”

As I said, I don’t have a problem with this type of item just that it is a Legendary Weapon.

I’d argue that stopping to spend a lot of time and money on any legendary, or even ascended gear, is bad optics for the Pact Commander. I mean, assuming that the story timeline is, like, two weeks.

Fortunately for us, we can travel back and forth through time between pre-Zhaitan zones and post-Mordremoth zones, so time really isn’t too much of an issue at this point.
