That’s just unprofessional. Not only does it ruin the immersion, it shows that they are not even able to assign a certain look to a certain NPC. What’s Anet excuse this time?
I find that people who tend to cry out about their “immersion” being broken tend not to understand what immersion actually is.
http://www.psychologyofgames.com/2010/07/the-psychology-of-immersion-in-video-games/
I’m highly skeptical that you’re in an immersive state accepting ‘believable behaivor in the game world’ just before you come up to a NPC milling about that pops up a dialogue box when you click on him/her. Especially if you recently saw a loading screen, fiddled with your inventory or hero panel, or interacted with other UI elements… you know, that entire myraid of things that remind you that you’re playing a game instead of feeling like you’re a part of that world.
edit; Tl;dr: I doubt your immersion is/was broken. Instead your complaint seems to be that you don’t like changes in npcs without being hit over the head with reasons why they changed.

So people are not allowed to change their appearance. Got it.
I don’t even want to know what Op thinks of Sya.

You’re right.
Sometimes I just want to travel to a volcanic island in the middle of the ocean to have a nice conversation with my old pal, npc #347. Then I get there and his hair color is brown instead of blond, AND he changed his clothes. It breaks my heart as well as my immersion :’(
I didn’t even notice and don’t even know what NPCs you talk about… I just don’t give a kitten.

I feel your sarcasm.
Personally I don’t pay attention to NPC appearances and I could care less if ANET decides to change it for whatever reason. Does not ruin my immersion.
1. I know this would mean an overhaul, but would be really nice for auras to be added to wardrobe. That way they could be account wide. unless you just want a gold sink It seems kinda silly to me to have them by character when some are hard to get or (unless im mistaken) in the case of the bauble infusions, impossible to get more than one of. It would also mean you dont need to wear a piece of exotic just for queen bee and you wouldnt lose your shoulder piece to nightfury. Would just be another panel under wardrobe, dyes, minis, etc called “auras” and you could select what you want on that character. As for people who actually have bought duplicates, if you have to click ‘unlock aura’ same as you would with skins instead of automatically dumping them in once it is implimented, they would be able to to sell the extras still.
2. mixing armor weights. even if you cant mix and match heavy with light (although preferred), it would be really nice to be able to just wear all light instead of all heavy or something like that. I LOVE some of the light armor skins but I just hate playing light armor classes. could just have a toggle switch for light, medium, heavy and then let you apply those skins all together instead.
3. +1 to the key ring idea
4. +1 to the tonic bag (could also be a tab under minis possibly)
5. +1 to re-arranging the nodes in home instance. I quite honestly can’t even find everything in some of the home instances which makes it so hard to tell if i’ve gotten everything (i know its on the minimap, but if a guild hall can place items why cant the home instance :/)
6. make all consumable buffs stack duration. Right now you can stack fireworks and some (maybe all?) boosters to last as long as you want, would be nice if things like food could do the same. so if you want food on for 2 hours worth of dragon stand, just eat more of them.
7. combine salvage kits/gatheringtools. meaning, if you have a black lion salvage kit and you salavge 15 items with it, and then realize theres one in the bank with a few left, be able to combine them at LEAST to the usualy stack size (though stacking higher for salvage kits/tools would be really nice). im not 100% sure those ones specifically cant, but i know lower versions as well as gathering tools cant.
8. +1 to build saving
9. a separate head toggle for outfits, that way toggle on just the outfit and it shows your usual armor head piece and toggle on both and see your characters normal head.
10. i keep seeing people wanting to know the queue for wvw. on the same note I think it would be nice to have a count on pve and wvw maps that says how many are on the map out of how many possible. would help with organizing meta events as well or tell people when a map is full and they shouldn’t swap characters.
11. queue pvp/wvw reward track. to much overflow lost to unwanted tracks :/
12. a crafting queue, so you can say select all the t7 mats available to that profession and it will just make each after the other without having to click again. and/or clicking to make an item will make all mats necissary for that item. so clicking ‘craft’ on lump of mithrillium will also refine all the mithril necessary to make it. or if easier just queue to refine all the mithril followed by making lump of mithrillium.
You should raise a support ticket if you have duplicates – I believe it is supposed to be automatically replaced with 2 keys when that happens.
There is nothing like engineer with a bloody flamenwerfer and somekind of polyester trenchcoat…
When did this happen? Because yesterday (or 2 days ago?) I got a random box of fun, so I dropped it, turned it to petrify mode and then zoned out to do other things.
My box was exactly in the same spot as in your screenshot.
Could it have been the box I left there? If so, you’re welcome. xD
Seriously, having a bad day, walk into queensdale. Someone drops a box o fun, and everyone pitches in and we goof around. Here’s a example.
I just had this idea that popped into my head and like most people here who don’t think very long about a simple yet complicated idea, I’m going to share it with the world.
While I was thinking about the scepter I was thinking about what I’d like to use as a necromancer main. Design wise, very few scepters fit my idea of an absolutely horrific scepter. Eye of Rodgort being one of the few acceptations.
And since Halloween for me hasn’t actually ended yet. We’re still partying over here. I figured I’d make a spooky suggestion.
When I think of a legend I’d like to see is more of a lovecraftian style of weapon. Tentacles and weird eyes and teeth. I was thinking of a weird Egg like scepter that when drawn the head of the scepter would split open Alien style with jagged teeth and tongues wiggling out of its strange mouth. The trail could be slime, or darkness and the foot steps could be black pools that tentacles reach out to grab at your feet. Its also inspired by the design of https://wiki.guildwars.com/images/c/c3/Necromancer_Elite_Canthan_armor_f.jpg which is one of my favorite armors from GW2. Btw, Elite Canthan should make a return!
I wouldn’t use it, but a Cthulhu inspired scepter would be really cool to see in the game!
Sometimes I like to get all Taimi and run around in my summoned golem.

Hands up anyone who has a full set?
Nobody?
QED
I have the full Hellfire set currently, and wear it proudly.
Hopefully the exclusion of these nodes is an oversight.
That’s what I assume it is. *shrugs
(edit: that, or they’ll be movin’ to the gem store soon)
~EW
So if the Iron, Hard Wood, and Flaxseed harvesting nodes which were previously only available through the Black Lion Chests, and are now no longer available in these chests, how are we supposed to get them now?
There’s a MF recipe that requires you to put in Twilight, Sunrise, Eternity, and Bolt… and you have a 33% chance at getting one of the nodes… otherwise you’ll get 10-40 amalgamated gemstones.

Okay, so i had spare 100 gems im my wallet, i bought 25 more saying to myself well lets get nothing again, worst i can get is a ticket scrap. So i opened a bl chest and got that warderobe thingy, had no idea what it was, i opened it and got fused mace worth 830 gold. Wow just wow.
But then nobody would wear medium armor at all!
I like them! This is the first game that lets me wear trench coats so I’m going all out on committing a crime against fashion.
It’s not really a crime against fashion…it’s more like a crime against in-game reality, insofar it applies. While I can see Rangers wearing trenchcoats, a thief wearing one just makes no sense to me. A big, swishy coat is the opposite of stealthy; if our armor actually gave off sounds like real clothes do, you’d hear that thief from a mile away while they’re trying to sneak up on you.
I mean if we are being realistic, thieves should’ve been light armor anyway, possibly switched with necros. ANet just wanted all the spellcasters to be light armor, and thief is definitely not a heavy armor class.
Something to make AP chests fun once more. Linking the thread here so it can get to the eyes of devs looking for good ideas. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-New-Wardrobe-Unlocks-AP-Chests/first#post6389201
(short version: please (retroactively) add Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlocks to AP chests. The thread contains some refinements of the suggestion).
so it’s just something random? I never noticed NPCs changed outfits =O
And yet, among player characters, shirtless males are prohibited and most female outfits and gear are skimpy…
That’s what makes it so inexplicable!
@Vincent – comparing the Living Story and global lore events with that magnitude to a normal Festive event is just bad example.
Destroying LA was part of something big, which had effect on many layers of the game experience. It created immersion , lore and overall was very well executed. If forcing people out of LA is their idea, then i have nothing to say…Still, the decorations and Mad King doors and other Haloween stuff proves the other, so following the common logic, id say they dont want to force players out, which adds problematic value to the event.
@Rauderi – if you are feeling cool with getting 1-2 fragments and being unable to unlock the chest that day, a lot others are not.
(edited by DianTheJoker.4372)
@HazyDaisy – i agree with you, but it will be the same next year or with another similar activity, if measures arent taken.
As far as people AFKing in LA – its the biggest Hub in the game right now.
Its the most populated city, based on average time spent in it + count of players.
Forcing a horde of players to break their habbits(hubbing in LA), just for a particular event is a mistake.
Anet clearly disagrees with you. When they destroyed LA a while ago, they forced everyone out of it for a long time. It was by far the most populated city at the time, even more than today. I’d even say it was the only populated city back then and they were perfectly happy with forcing everyone out of it.
@kurfu – i think you are missing the big picture.I am well aware that i can do everything i usualy do in LA at other major cities.
Its maybe my 3rd post in the forums, so its absolutely no fun to me, posting here.
Read carefully my post and you will see that the SIZE of the actual area is not the only/biggest problem.
The think that bothers me( and at least 20 more players) is that they get incomplete Fragments amount for a Key, which is caused by :
a) the area ;
b) 1 participation opportunity per account
thus, disabling the option to get UP TO 3 Fragments and thus – to missing the event gain(even if you plan to do it later)
Im advocating for the mass players that got crippled in Fragments, because of this.
Its a good idea + bad design = burdening experience. If i dont share this, things wont improve and if all follow your way of thinking – LA will be empty during Haloween(which isnt what Anet wants – taking the decoration and other Festive stuff into account).
While I can appreciate that Mad King nearly killing a player AFKing at the crafting station in LA is a problem, I also question why people are AFKing in LA and then complaining when they know this is going to happen during this time of year?
The festival has been running for 2 weeks, Mad King Says is on a schedule. Anet probably isn’t going to change the radius of this event 4 days before the end of the festival.
But, assuming a player is new and they’re strolling through LA one October day and suddenly fall violent ill, unbeknownst of the Mad Kings presence, I’d imagine that new person would question WT…in this case, the questionable radius is actually a good thing, as it lets newbies know about this event.
[HaHa] Hazardous Hallucination
The Mad King says – just go do your business in DR until after the festival ends. Problem solved. I guess it’s more fun to complain on the forums, though. /shrug
The Mad King says you will participate wherever you are, no matter what you are doing….or else.
