New Outfit coming to ONLY BL Chests!

If it’s a placeholder, why do you think the tool-tip as valid?

And if it is, what’s the problem? You don’t even know what it is yet, so why complain that it’s only in BL chests during certain dates?

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

I don’t know most people’s opinion… but at least I only use skins that I like, and I think are coherent with my character. If they are made in the crafting stations, obtained through rng or paid with gems doesn’t matter to me.

As an example, I have a Guardian with a “rough ceramic” theme, who uses some asuran cultural pieces mixed with a few common basic armors and beaded Hylek weapons. I could maybe incorporate some ley-line armor to him, but ley line weapons just wouldnt work, and none of the black lion items would, either. I don’t care how exclusive are the pieces of his equipment. I only care he looks like I want him to.

Rareness is overrated.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I don’t use things just because they are rare or hard to get because frankly, most of the rare hard to get things either don’t fit themes I want for my characters or are downright stupid/ugly.

This is all really a matter of personal preference but anyone who equips an item because of rarity is ‘doing it wrong’ in a manner of speaking … I mean, how can any one claim to care about how a skin looks and use it if they are purchasing and using it because of rarity? I think the complaint here in the thread is more about collecting than using skins.

But you’re missing the point OP. They are suppose to be so awesome looking that people will spend real money to buy gems to spend them on keys to get one. It’s a “reward” for supporting ANet.

Problem is there use to be a 2nd major source of keys, key farming now nerfed to once a week. These “free” keys undoubtedly led to many of the skins that were sold on the TP but now that source is all but gone, the more popular BL skins are becoming extinct.

Then there’s the issue with the exchange, it’s been “smarter” for a long time now to convert gems to gold and buy the skin you want off the TP rather than facing RNG bought keys, at the previous drop rate for tickets and scraps.

That’s why I think we’re seeing this “new” BL chest. Ticket scraps look to be dropping even more frequent than before, so a better chance that 25 keys yield at least 10 scraps. Combine that with the chance of getting skins directly from the rare and super rare BL sets, there is also a chance to get a random BL skin (doesn’t include the most recent) unlocked from the Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlock Ticket.

That’s my two copper.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Rarity is overrated, imo. I want everyone to be able to look cool for a reasonable cost. It bums me out a little that there’s people who’ve been playing for years and can’t afford much beyond the basic skins that were available at launch.

I suppose it’s good for business, but we’ve got a ton of low-quality skins that nobody wants, and a bunch of amazing stuff that most can’t afford. The middle ground between ’em is just far too limited.

any1 can get it if you throw money at it…..thats kinda the point, i did throw money at it and you didnt, so i deserve to always have it and the BEST thing about having it is knowing that others do not, anet has probably realized this by now as we are not seeing old sets re released so often anymore

You know that some of the old black lion weapon sets have disappeared from the TP so it’s really impossible to get them anymore. No matter how much money you throw you will never get them. And others, due to being non-available anymore, have heavily inflated prices.

The Fused set was never re-released to my knowledge.

After 5 years, they should be made available to buy for something like 200 to 400 gems each directly from the wardrobe based on their demand. The cheapest would be the ones less people bought, the most expensive would be the ones more people bought.

You just click the icon in the wardrobe, pay the gem price, get the skin. Ding.

Why 5 years? So people get to enjoy exclusivity for that time. 5 years is more than enough to show off a pretty skin. After that, it’s time to switch to the next model if you want to show off something, let the rest of the kids enjoy them too without having to grind keys or spend fortunes in freaking RNG key or depend on people selling them in the trading post.

exclusiveness and rareness should last FOREVER, re releasing old items is the main reason this game has not had good player retention, its impossible for me to be motivated when all i have acheived is now on sale again for some new player

You have the glory of being there first.

not enough, you will just have to content yourself with never having certain items, thats how an mmo is supposed to be.

If the item was gated by skill then I’d say yes that’s how mmos work. But even for those there are ways of making them more available. But skins that have a duration? That’s a terrible idea and in no way “how an mmo is supposed to be”.

Exclusiveness and rareness can last forever, if the method of acquisition is always the same.

Anet realized this problem at some point during LS1! At the time they changed the blc weapon system, so you can get all of them for tickets they had a great basic idea:
New blc set → buy weapon cheap for 1 ticket. With the next new set → raise price a little bit. They wanted to do this up to a point where you can get old skins with grind (5 tickets/skin), but that there is no good way for TP barons to buy old skins cheaply in masses.
Most important part, the main idea from anet was to remove the sets at some point and reintroduce them later again for cheap (1 ticket). That way everyone wants blc tickets, trader can flip and trade, the skins are available for every long time customer again and again.

Sadly it seems that at some point during the last year some economic/marketing person seemed to have thought that new sets every two weeks (instead of a rotation and sometimes a new set) would be better.
That different approach is the reason why now the whole blc set is a pure fail now. The extreme old Skins get more and more expensive. Noone wants the new sets (be real, doeas anyone know which set was introduced last without looking it up? Or which the current set is?). If you look it up most of the blc sets released during the last year are still at the same TP price (no market fluctuation at all). So currently the people just use tickets on any skin to sell it or they are hoarding tickets for the case if anet might release a set with weapons they want.
Ther is currently just no reasonable system/idea behindert the blc weapon skins! An other example, why did anet add aehterized aweapons as fractal loot, why not fused)? Or why didn’t they just rerelease atherzied for 2 weeks again? Why have been Chaos eaepons back again and zodiac not? … It’s just no reasonable concept!

can i buy rubies on the tp?

what about globs?

Fill in the blank:

- With 1k gold in my pocketses, I dunno what to do so lets flip a coin I can either buyout ____ ectos, or ____ rubies.

Ok how about 1 confirmation dialog, after that it’s fair game until you cancel out your salvage kit.

It would be nice if the salvage confirmation for Bloodstone Rubies and Petrified Wood wasn’t there at all. I know they are Exotic grade items, but I don’t see a confirmation to salvage Globs of Ectoplasm. So why have this at all? It’s really annoying, please get rid of it.

Agreed. They aren’t so precious that they need to have a confirmation box, and it makes it a major PITA to actually salvage them in any amount for unbound magic, since you have to confirm every…. single… salvage…

The comparison to ectos is basically perfect. Ectos don’t have it, ditch it for Rubies / Petrified Wood.

I would like to see wardrobe slots. As it is, I am limited to one look unless I want to spend charges. I’d like to be able to switch around to different looks depending on my mood, what I’m doing, etc.- I might want to change looks several times a day. It’s just not doable with having to spend charges every time. What I’m proposing, we could have wardrobe slots and add our looks to those and switch around at will. The other games I’ve played allowed us a dozen or more looks in this fashion.

I’d suggest to go a step further and detach skins from gear/stats entirely. Allow us to equip skins in “skin slots” and gear in “stat lots”.

I often switch between multiple gear sets and craft new ones with different stats (I run multiple different builds for different situations) and it’s a hassle that I have to reskin and redye each piece everytime I get a new set.

A good example of what I want is how it works in Black Desert Online. It kinda works like outfits in GW2, except each armor slot has its own “outfit slot”.

Size of Lazarus compared to GW1 Mursaat

in Lore

Posted by: Konig Des Todes.2086

Konig Des Todes.2086

In GW1, bosses and boss-like foes were always much bigger than their standard counterparts.

In GW2, veterans are larger than normal foes, champions larger than veterans, and legendary foes larger than champions (elite foes are overlooked in the size-increase due to their original purpose as being dungeon-only regulars).

Lazarus is a legendary rank, thus gets upscaled a bit in size.

Scarlet and many other bosses during the Scarlet Invasions were the same, being much larger than normal NPCs of that race, or in Scarlet’s case being larger than when she was in story instances.

This is all just important foe NPCs being upscaled so that they can be more easily seen, something often done in MMOs.

I mean, just go look at Adelbern in the dungeon. He’s taller than norn. Or the norn bosses in HotW – they’re about the size of necromancers’ Lich Form.

@Amaimon: I don’t recall anything saying he was formless after Eye of the North, when we last see him (chronologically) prior to GW2.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

This was one of the first places I tried gliding. I knew you wouldn’t actually be able to get through the portal but I wanted to at least reach it.

I hope they do add to this, and some of the other locked off paths, in future, as they did with the zone portal in the back of Fort Vandal leading into Silverwastes.

The one that bothers me most is the area between Southsun and Sparkfly Fen. It’s not a big area but it bothers me because it’s possible to swim across from Pearl Islet to the coat of the mainland, and from there the only thing stopping you is an invisible wall. From Sparkfly Fen there’s a road blocked off with a huge rock. It’s frustrating to get so close and have such minor barriers but be unable to get past them to see what’s there.

(And yes I’m aware that there’s not actually anything there yet and Anet would have to create the whole map, not just remove the barriers. But I still find it frustrating because it looks like you should be able to get there.)

What did happen to the 'Eye of Janthir' ?

@trub I made this topic a while ago (here it is) about the Eye and the latest lore insights. Long story short (even though it’s fast to read) the seal found in the mursaat’s fortress (Ember Bay) and the new helm of Lazarus recall the Eye of Janthir (and to an extent even the Anomalies’ eyes).

So, we still don’t know where it is, but why would Lazarus need it now? He is supposed to be incredibly powerful, and most likely he’s got the gift True Sight himself.

Also, regarding the Eye itself, is it a mere artifact or was an entity somehow trapped in it? Or better, was someone watching through the Eye from a distance, given that the mursaat wouldn’t show themselves easily at the time?

My research has found a thread between magic and the mind. The two are linked.

Less a typo and more a retcon, since we didn’t know the island existed until Eye of the North nor had a name for it until GW2 betas (and for all we know the devs didn’t come up with that island location until making the new map for Eye of the North); most people, iirc, thought that Janthir was the mursaat’s name for the Ring of Fire islands until GW2 named that northern island.

Anyways, your comment made it sound like you were saying that the mursaat handed it to the White Mantle post-Saul’s disappearance.

Eh, it’s been forever since I delved into the lore around the White Mantle.

I would still maintain that Saul could have brought it back with the Mursaat having given it to him, as opposed to him ‘finding’ it. And the White mantle were enshrouded in propaganda and lies throughout Prophecies, and some of their interactions with the PC were to paint a better picture then what they were really doing.

Course, Franklin states that Saul traveled South… to an Island north of Kryta. I’ll give that a typo pass though.

My theory is…

“The Divine Eye has an intelligence of its own. It won’t follow just anybody. Only those who have proven themselves worthy are asked to partake in this ceremony. In the past five years, all of the knights who have been promoted to the rank of zealot or justiciar had at one time administered the test.”

“You came all this way for a few soldiers? You really have no idea what’s in this compound, do you? Only the worthy are taken inside. Like the squad leader.”

It would be rather interesting, if the Eye of Janthir returns in the third wing, perhaps even as an ‘enemy’ to destroy. We know it was capable of offensive capabilities – it knocked down all who were not worthy, and illuminated the Chosen. It is sapient, too.

I don’t think we know, but at a guess either it was destroyed or the Krytan government has it. Or maybe the Priory or Order of Whispers since both have collections of interesting artefacts, including some they’re probably not supposed to have.

But unless it does a lot more than we were told in GW1 it would be fairly useless now. It’s purpose was to detect the ‘chosen’ – those who were capable of completing the Rite of Ascension and gaining the Gift of Truesight, which enabled them to see and fight the mursaat (and also do a bunch of other things like enter the Mists).

But now the Mursaat are gone, except for possibly Lazarus, the site of the original Rite of Ascension is inaccessible but we’ve found other ways to achieve the same thing, and other ways to enter the Mists, although completely different areas of it.

Of course we were never told how a creepy floating eye crystal could detect the chosen, so maybe it can do more than that. But it would need someone who knows how to use it to find out.
