Its a demand system if gold is in demand then gems prices drop if gems are in demand then gold prices drop. Over all its a good system that can keep it self in balanced. If it was any easier to buy gems with gold or get gold with gems you could run into ppl playing a money game where they make money off of buying and selling gems causing massive inflation.
So when the game first came out gold was in high demand so it was very cheep to buy gems with gold now as time went on gold is a great deal more easy to get or there is just simply a lot more in the system so now gems are worth more.
Yep.. love this new journal thing.. I wonder how many people suggested it?

Surely there’s more… Anyways, just another example that we’re being listened to and ideas are definitely being improved upon. I really can’t wait for season 2 to start… The fact that we’ll be able to do extra achievements after we’ve completed it.. sort of like the hard mode in GW1 missions or the extra objectives.. sort of what it reminds me of anyway.
Incoming rage threads saying content is too hard
and too easy,
and too slow,
and too fast,
maybe a few Goldilocks threads though.

I don’t quite get the concept of charging 200 gems for previous releases.
I don’t mind it in concept – after all, it’s a ‘convenience’ fee for accessing something you did not experience in the 2 week period, but who would pay 200 gems for a story instance that lasts no more than 10 minutes?
How does this affect the development of future living stories. Does this mean we no longer have living stories with temporary map content, like Pavillion, BoTW, SAB or the holiday themed ones? You can’t exactly ‘replay’ those because you need other players to experience it with. Or does that mean any sort of living story content that requires mass participation is now permanent content?

Here is Colin with some information.

This feature is amazing….it is what we have been asking for, for a long time!
- Permanent Content
- Permanent way to earn rewards
- Less emphasis on achievements to get said rewards
- Harder achievements than just “Kill 50 Centaurs” (remains to be seen)
- No rush to complete said achievements
the only thing i see that kind of rubs me the wrong way is having to pay 200 gems to get the content if you missed it…for instance when I go on vacation this summer…if this content falls in the 2 weeks i’m gone, im screwed
granted…i understand that “hey…too bad, you didn’t want to be around the game to get it for free…pay up sucka” and 200 gems is like 20g(I think)….that is more than achievable in gamen in 1 day
WvW/PvP/Skills Principal QA
We have identified the issue and are working on a solution to distribute the proper tournament chests to all who should have earned them. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this.
Thank you.
Its all back to normal, lower transfer costs and you can play wvw right away again.
The distribution of WvW rewards is the problem, and fixing it is probably a very high priority issue for the WvW team. I expect this to be a matter of days at most.
So I’ve been wonderin’. About the world and the story, it all seems good. I want to keep this brief and all, for the sake of argument. I just like to point out that the Elder Dragons don’t feel very evil. In other words, don’t feel like they should be antagonists.
Yes, perhaps they are forces of nature, and it feels very messed up by tampering with nature’s cycles. But there should be an antagonist that’s at least relatable, someone that gives their side of the story and someone I can understand. Who’s going to understand the animistic motives of a freaking dragon? Okay, maybe a few (which, I won’t know how that’ll be done), but doesn’t make my point any less clear.
I feel the devs sacrifice the story just to have the feel-good and epic moments. I say the feels are tripled with a good story. I know they can write good, just look at Tybalt!
That’s why we have dragon champions – they provide the personality (and dialog) that is missing from the dragons themselves.
From a gameplay perspective, having endless armies of irredeemably evil minions to mow down isn’t a bad thing either. It beats slaughtering boars.
Update:
Got into a gold BB instance, and have been in it for the last 2 hours. I’ve gained 84 skill points, earned countless rares, and gotten a few exotics. And enough festival tokens to buy 5 Tomes. And it’s fun! Keep rotating between the different bosses and it stays interesting.
Best choice of any of the ideas above.
1) There’s honestly nothing else out there that gives you more for the money you put into it. GW2 is highly competitive against the most expensive games out there. I’m really interested in FFXIV, for example, but won’t ever play it due to the subscription model.
2) I love my characters and the combat. The combat is really fun.
3) I’m going to go ahead and mimic OP’s #3, because that very accurately describes me.
1) I still find the combat fun and fairly exhilarating. Yes, I find the combat in an mmoRPG addictive.
2) Socializing and playing with friends. Whether it be new living story or just hanging out.
3) The never ending pursuit of looking fabulous. I always seem to try and come up with new looks for my characters – usually via mix and match, new dyes and such – when I try out new builds.
Thank you for keeping us updated :) I’m sad this could take a while but I’m also happy for those who got the wrong ticket amount, as this move seems to be a way of heading off a potential logistical nightmare between them and support. This appears to be a smart, efficient decision.
Good luck on sorting this out, devs! Excited to get a lovely mistforged weapon when it’s ready.
Who did tell you that?
As far as I know we didn’t even have any confirmations (or indications for that matter) that there would even be a patch today.
I agree with Xae. I usually side with those that want to give anet a paddlin for various reasons, but this patch improved a lot of things, and removed some annoying bugs. Also, I suspect many of the changes to be the result of player feedback, and for some of them I know for sure. So if anything, they deserve a pat on the back…for now
The german community manager has already denied a new crafting discipline.
It is just for convenience.

I’m not worried, I trust anet to fix whatever issue happened.
and that allows me to continue to enjoy the game without focusing on 1 minor glitch
all this gimme gimme gimme is childish, it’s all pixels people! grow up a little.
I did get the tickets and I fully agree with the postponement. This was a wise decision; implementing the NPC would be like throwing fuel on a raging fire.
I’m not frustrated that there is going to be a fix. I’m frustrated that 9 weeks of ‘content’ falls flat onto nothing.
I still don’t get this part.
Where have they said that we won’t get our rewards? And if they haven’t what are you even talking about?
Just because you don’t have your rewards right now doesn’t mean you won’t get them.
Reading this forum makes me so angry!
You guys at ANET are doing a very good job! Fix the problem, make sure to hold back the rewards until you are 100% sure that it will not further worsen things and just do your thing.
People complaining and being rude on this forum should try working as a professional s/w dev (no, the static HTML website you did in 4th grade does not count) to understand that it is not as easy as just to ‘check a flag’ – wow. If it were that easy, ANET would have fixed it already.
Just be patient, enjoy the game and stop complaining.
It is not like your missing out on anything!
Hey,
After seeing all of the negativity in this thread, I want to thank the developers for informing us about a delay in advance. You could have not said anything until the day of the expected patch, but you didn’t. We appreciate the heads up.
I also want to thank you for setting up this tournament and set of rewards as a free content update for WvW players. We appreciate the attention.
You’re doing a great job, most everyone playing the game feels this way, and we don’t take the time to post about it on forums because we think it’s a given that you know this.
Also, thank you for accommodating the players who feel a need to vent and express their sense of entitlement by providing a forum. You’re all angels.
While the World vs. World team investigates an issue with tournament reward chest distribution, we are temporarily delaying access to the rewards that would have otherwise been available on the Battle Historian on June 3rd. We hope this will help prevent further compounding the issue, and avoiding unnecessary confusion while we work to resolve the problem. Thank you for your patience.
Thanks for the post and I’m really sorry for the the idiotic/hate comments.
Thank you for the update, will be patiently awaiting reward chest to be issued. And then you for making such a great game.
Take your time, things like these are bound to happen.
You guys act suprise something can go wrong ? Look at any online game released lately, on pc + consoles, some don’t even work at all. This issue is really not a big deal.
Earlier today I even suggested on another thread to not update the reward vendor tomorrow. Glad to see a level headed adult made a good call over at Anet.
