I really wish I was that guardian, cause I would have had to ask why he was hitting him self. As I watched his health bar drain.

Some old thread that has some of them listed.
You should be able to convince yourself by asking one simple question, do you enjoy those classes? If yes, play them. If not, don’t play them.
I don’t understand all this massive QQ over the class trinity – yes it’s there, but you can choose not to use it. Just like in GW1 you could choose not to use PVX builds.
I’m completely fine on my thief and clear content with ease with my guildies.
1) I have the best blast finishers on SB)
2) I have excellent AoE
3) I have perma AoE blind
4) I can stealth the group
5) I have basically infinite dodges/evades so going full glass is not a problem for me.
Poor rangers
I have been playing a ranger since beginning and have to say I am not understanding all this hate against them in dungeons. I seem to be doing my fair share and then some in any dungeon I go into. Of course I have my jungle stalker and red moa pet on stove going through a dungeon and only use them to give the group might and fury. I use my bow when that is called for and melee when needed so I cant see this where all this hate is coming from. Not all rangers are bad players and if everyone work together be it warrior or ranger or whatever profession, every dungeon will be a breeze.
My wife is not the best gamer, let me state that now. Her favorite game was World of Warcraft, around the end of Burning Crusade/beginning of the Frozen Throne era. Even she thinks the game is too easy and “Fiser Price’d” now. She and I have been looking for a new MMO to play together for a long time now. We liked Rift, but it’s story was weak and failed to pull is in, so we dumped that. The Secret World was interesting, but the poor community killed it for her, and she’s not that into modern style games anyway. The Star Wars MMO was good, she liked that one, but she doesn’t really get into SciFi, so it failed to hold her interest.
So now I’m here. I like this game. I think it’s very interesting. But the lack of the “Holy Trinity” worries me a bit.
You see, my wife loves being the Tank. She also loves being the Healer. She is under the impression that she is not a good DPS because she doesn’t have the best reflexes. She likes to do more than just mash a combo as fast as possible until things die. If we were to play this, would it be possible for her to fulfill a role as a “Tank” or “Healer”?
She loves a game with a good story that will keep her running along. She found WoW’s story cheesy at times, but generally liked that it always had things going on and usually had her rushing along to learn what happened next. One quest, involving an Orc that yelled “Smell what the Lok’Tar is cooking” or something like that, had her in tears because of how a character in the questline died.
So I would like to know if this game, one without “WoW-like” quests would still have a story that she can get pulled into. She loves exploring, I should add. (I’m also curious how you know when you’re done with a particular area if there’s no quests or something similar to guide you to the next area.)
Those are my questions to you, good forum people. Can you help me?
If she gets interested she will get better regardless.
I am not “the best player”, indeed I am one of the worst players in GW2 and I am a woman.
I am not bad because I am a woman – I am not as good as others because I lack others to teach me more. The only way I learn is by example and by-rote doing it myself over and over until I get it “right”.
Rotations will help her if she gets key happy.
Ranger and Necro are two of the easiest levelers – both have “pets” – the Ranger’s being fun to go “find”.
If she is interested in gaming AND chatting, this is prob a game should would enjoy.
Being in a non-judging guild would certainly help, especially when you aren’t around to help.
It all comes down to her interest and your non-judging attitudes – I went through three guilds before I found one that doesn’t seem to be as judging as the others.
Good luck, let us know what happens.
Im sad that so many folks are butting heads with each other…I have never run into a bad situation regarding the trains…but that’s probably because I play very early in the morning and there are only 5-10 of us in the entire map of Queensdale at that time. We are probably all just as bleary eyed as the next person and the few that are there are very cordial and will even wait for people trying to make it.
…I guess I am just one of those people that believes that the more cordial and respectful people are in maps, it tends to spread to others and seems to make a difference over time…
The most mind boggling thing about the Queensdale train is the fact that they have no idea how Shadow Behemoth works and regularly say things like “only 5 min till SB” (until 30 min window) and then spend the rest of the 30 min wailing why isn’t he up.
Even when you call Kryta wp and link the keg event/Brenda they still wail, do not help and camp the swamp like a bunch of kittens.
edit: or show up at the last minute because they still run the train

I don’t see how they could exaggerate the main body of armor, and just exaggerating extremities would look horrible in most cases, as is already seen on a great deal of helmets and pauldrons.
But as for weapons, yes please.
If you like disrupting zerg trains do this…
You: “troll up”
Someguy: “troll isn’t up yet”
You: “yes it is. TROLOLOLOLOLOL”
Just block them and report. I don’t understand the people who need to be the most efficient as possible leveling anyway. They cant waste a second of potential in game time. Yeah I was in queensdale farming champs to finish the monthly yesterday and I noticed this.
You all forgot Spears for land combat. Tsk tsk tsk.
Spear and shield with gladiator armor would be super.
I think it would be cool for eles and necros to have a scepter off hand as well.
Psibird. To help you as much as I can. Ill make a video for you on Youtube
Guardian. Easy play. Easy to carry PUGs.
Rangers are good in sPvP, decent in wvw, and that’s about it.
Rangers are great for PvE.
Necro: Torch for demon summoning. Maybe one of the skills would let necromancers summon a fleshreaver.
Obviously, he wanted to show you his tool. (Trade secret of random engineers.)
And that’s the lesson here. Never waypoint to a place to let an engineer show you his tool. ^^
Its funny to hear some of the elitist BS thrown about within this topic.
Its the same crap as when someone just doesnt quite get the mechanics of a boss fight or whatever.
I had it yesterday in the new TA path, this guy didnt speak English so had to have guildies translate for me to give advice on bosses. At one point he said “do you just want me to leave?” I said, “NO of course not. If you want to leave thats fine, but i would prefer that you stay and learn.” It turns out the guy ragequits at the last boss any way… Im gutted… but not because i cant finish the content, because i feel my challenge was to help him through it and i failed at that… Idk, dont get me wrong im not some shining teaching light to lead by example… I have moments of frustration at players sometimes.. but comon..
Now im sorry, but saying total bs like, probably wouldnt clear it etc is not justified at all. Level 80s can die just as easy in most dungeons due to the fact that stats dont really mean anything when alot of mechanics come from dodging any way. To prove this Iv been running alot of dungeons naked recently.
You are scaled to the dungeons level kitten . Correct me if im wrong but the only stats you are gaining is from gear, in which the core damage/armor rating is scaled as well. So therefore your only receiving the stat bonuses (which equate to small percentages), not the core stats them selves. Example;
Level 80 player with exotic gear. Scaled down to level 40. Effectively has the stats of a level 40 player, with level 40 exotic gear.
Therefore has no significant advantage over a level 40 player with blue/green gear. Just a very small statistical one.
And one last thing before angry rant over… If your so kittening desperate to finish content in a specified amount of time.. List your party or LFG post as speed run. Otherwise, shut the kitten up you elitist kittens and play the game as it was intended, with other HUMAN BEINGS not kittening robots with perfect skill and stats. The people that think of other people as a hindrance, have lost touch in the reasons they play these kind of MMOs in the first place, suppose its not their fault…. Having your head up your kittenhole that much has got to be disorientating.

Good troll item for WvW. Place merchant in the middle of a field, hide & wait. >.>
Yeah, it’s nothing compared to the Survivor title in Guild Wars 1. There you needed to get 1,337,500 exp without dying. This took WAY more than a couple of hours in a noob zone. While it was possible to game this title also, the people who did it for real really earned it.
Might, fury, spotter (150+ precision, basically an extra disc. banner), frost spirit (7%+ damage increase), projectile reflection (OH axe).
This^
Plus, add sigil of strength (stack might on crit) on sword, and trait to share boons with a high DPS pet.
Rangers are solid in PvE as long as you’re not camping range and with bear pet.
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)
“colesy’s on rampage today. Slaying casuals left, right and centre” – spoj
Honestly? If you team up even with ONE other player, it will instantly be twice as easy on ANY profession. It takes the pressure off you and allows you to fous on trying out things rather than just staying alive.
I would advise to stick with a class that “feels right” (for me it was engineer) and to make a few friends in the game or team up with someone from /map.
Playing a ranger together with a friend might be tons more fun than soloing with a warrior.

Ranger:
Rifle. At the moment we all know (if you don’t you should be ashamed) that Engi’s play with rifles like a shotgun so that’s short to mid range. Warrior seems to have a slow shooting rifle with mid to long range. What I envision for the ranger with access to the rifle would be the equivalent of a sniper. That’s right, very long range with accurate high damage, bring on the pain baby! Rangers are and should be the long range specialist class so to me this is the obvious choice for them to be the sniper-ish class.
Yes, because we need to give rangers even more incentive to max range every encounter and not stack with the rest of the group.
So you are saying that because there are some bad team players out there that we should exclude things from incoming to the game because it will only make that situation worse?
Ummm, no I think a better solution there would be to ask said bad players to get with the programme or simply to not expect everyone to “stack” to “kill da boss” because it’s the most efficient way to speed run the dungeon.
Actually hold on there, I see what you did, you derailed my thread! No sir, I will have none of that, please stay on topic.

Yes! I’ve always wondered why Rangers can’t use rifles. When I started my first toon, a ranger, I envisioned her as pretty much being a ninja sniper with a herd of animals at command. Sneaking around, picking enemies off before they knew what hit them. Of course, I had to change that vision as I actually started playing the game. 0.o
Let’s make it happen! Perhaps another one of the rifle skills could be to have our pet stealth us camo style through their stripes. You inspired that idea lol.
Sometimes I actually use kitten as a swear word in-game. Kinda fun, really.
